Hi,
there're thousands of programs for WM but one of the ver important areas is almost not touched. It is SMS syncronizing with computer.
The program I'm looking for should be able to:
1. Syncronize both ways - to and from computer
2. Support syncronizing messages from several phones into one
3. Support several accounts
4. Have threaded view option (like SMS chat in Jeyo Mobile Companion)
5. Support export of separate messages or separate threads (like Jeyo Mobile Companion)
6. Support editing the addressee name and joining several conversations into one. When travelling people often use local sim-cards and then you end up having 6-7 conversations for one person.
7. Ideally it should be able to support export to Outlook
So is there any software that could do all these things?

In the Version 5.0 Windows Mobile the system comes with three main folders β MMS β TEXT β OUTLOOK E MAIL. Each one has in turn subfolders such as sent mail, inbox, deletions and so onβ¦
I have added two folders being PERSONAL and BUSINESS through my T-Mobile carrier, again coming standard with sent mail, inbox, deletion and so on...
When synchronizing the only folder that does so is OUTLOOK E-MAIL which is not a problem in itself. However, incoming wireless mail comes in under BUSINESS and PERSONAL accounts which is not a problem since a copy is sent to the regular computer that then synchronizes with the device every now and then.
The PROBLEM: When responding to mail that came in under the wireless scenarios (I.E.: into PERSONAL and BUSINESS Folders) there is no way to capture the sent mail except leaving it on the MDA itself. I would have thought it be possible to either synchronize it or move it into a separate folder on the MDA. There is a move function but this only allows you to move items within each Folder and not to other folders.
HELP
I have a nokia (6300) and the O2 Orbit II(HTC Cruise/Polaris).
I interchange between these two phones on a daily basis by swapping my sim card. reason for this is because the bluetooth on nokia is a lot more compatible to my bmw (i.e contacts with multiple numbers are replicated in car navigation/phone system when using HTC WM6)
One major problem with that are my text messages are split between these two phones.
I am looking for a software that can do the following :-
1) Separately sync each mobile phone to outlook to store the messages
2) sync back from outlook to both phones so that both phone then have exactly the same messages
Thanks

I've always kept a copy of all my text messages in my desktop email archive using an Outlook plugin from Jeyo. However, after switching to Gmail, I'm really trying to avoid using Outlook altogether. That's why it would be great to have a program that automatically uploads all my text messages straight from my phone to my Gmail account. Kinda like MyPhone but with Gmail.
This is what it would do:
* Automatically copy every text message to Gmail;
* Upload messages from different folders: inbox, concepts and sent items, each to the appropriate Gmail locations.
I believe there's a program for this on the Android platform, but not on Windows Mobile.
I'm just posting this here as a suggestion, hoping a handy developer likes my idea, since I don't know how to do it myself.
Services like MyPhone and Dashwire let you do it to the cloud.
You can use Windows Mobile SMS Sync ( not Free ) / PIM Backup to back it up to your PC and manually send it to gMail.
Another alternateive ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324684 ) I think its no longer actively developed
hope this helps
Thanks for the suggestions. Some of them I hadn't seen before.
I'm already using MyPhone, which works automatically and does very well as a plain backup solution, but I'd really like to keep a complete archive of my correspondence (email and sms) in one place on Gmail.
On the other hand, I'm currently using Jeyo Mobile Companion to transfer my sms to gmail manually. The result is exactly what I want: each message is listed individually and chronologically among my emails. Unfortunately, this only works through desktop Outlook, and I'd like to avoid using my pc as a go-between.
So I'm still hoping for some new developement that will do this automatically and over the air. Such a program already exists for Android phones:
http://code.google.com/p/android-sms/
this would be nice
There's a Symbian program like this as well:
http://shop.psiloc.com/en/Application,262287,Psiloc+GSync
Why should Symbian and Android users have all the fun? Couldn't anyone port the Android version to Windows Mobile? It's open source...
Damn, I wish I was a developer myself.
I have been thinking about this too and I very much applaud the development of such an application too. Everything backed up to one place.
The basic idea is pretty simple, queuing a message to a specific folder on a pop3 / imap / exchange server. Restoring or syncing data from the server is more difficult, I suppose.
Sprite used to have (= not anymore) an application that continuously sent received text messages and calls as an e-mail to a specified e-mailaddress. Unfortunately, however, it was unable to restore from it.
Also, backing up messages for the first time will pose problems. Most e-mail services are capped at a maximum amount of messages per day (e.g. 1000 receive / send)
If you have an Exchange server, version 2010 wil have sms synchronisation features in it.
Cheers
Sprite Archie actually looks pretty good! I had no idea this ever existed. Too bad it's gone.
Seems like it simply forwarded text messages (and call logs) to a specified e-mail address. Ideally, I think a program could copy the messages directly to a specific e-mail folder via IMAP, right?
I see how restoring would be a problem, but I wouldn't really use this as a backup method anyway. I already have MyPhone and Sprite Backup for that.
To me, the main purpose would be archiving. Gmail just seems a natural place to store your text messages along with your e-mails: it gives you a complete overview of all your written correspondence.
Glad to see some enthousiasm for this idea!
This would be a good program, so Im putting my hand up for it as well....
(Hope that if this is done it would be compatible with the android way of doing it, thus allowing you to move texts from one platform to the other)
I've added this as a sugestion to Nuevasync as well, being that the activesync platform does allow for selecting SMS as an option to sync.
probably not what your looking for but i have my phone setup to sync my contacts and calendar through google and i run a program called phone log which puts the text message i reciever in my calendar as an event but through i would through it out there i would be interested in a program that did this though
I second this idea, it's works a treat on my Hero and I'd love to have to my sms's pushed to my SMS label in gmail on my HD2
I've actually found a copy of Sprite Archie (mentioned higher) and it works perfectly fine... At least, it did until I bought an HD2. There, it doesn't detect incoming messages. So no luck...

Treo and SMS
Hello,
I am the CEO for SynergeTech Solutions, the makers of Windows Mobile SMS Sync. For some reason, Palm decided to build their own proprietary SMS software for their Windows Mobile phones. Any application built to use the default Windows Mobile SMS data store will therefore return zero messages as they are not stored there for these devices.
At one time, Palm offered an SDK that possibly would have contained the APIs needed to interface with their proprietary message store for SMS. Unfortunately, they seem not to offer it anymore and I have been unable to get a response form them for guidance on obtaining it.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no backup/export applications in existence that can interface with these devices. If I am incorrect, or if anyone has the Palm Windows Mobile SDK, I would love to be corrected. My company is actively working on adding support for Palm devices and I will be sure to update this thread as soon as a Palm compatible version of Windows Mobile SMS Sync is released.
Thanks,

SMS Backup
I too have been looking for a "sync" utility for SMS for the Treo 750.
Haven't found one yet, but I backup my messages to my PC simply by copying the message database. The SMS database is one file named PalmMsgV001 in the windows directory. Using ActiveSync Explorer on your PC it's as simple as "copy and paste".
synergetech solutions is a joke!
crappy customer service. mostly all reviews of their products seem like "paid" reviews. f'n crap company.
mr. "ceo" wannabe. step up your game.
Do we have an SMS Application for WIndows MObile (Touch Pro2) thru which you can create one or multiple Groups and then send SMS to those groups (each group will have many contacts mapped under them).
I tried to search. But found no good results.
Please advise.
