Help! Active sync will not work - Touch Pro, Fuze General

My pc says my connection settings in my phone need to be changed. I don't remember changing anything and I don't know what to change them to.
My phone tells (after a failed connectoin) me there is a connection error and opens MEdia net settings. I don't know what that would have to do with anything. I know I haven't changed them. There is no need. When this problem came up I tried changing some things, they didn't work, so I put them back. This is the same PC I always connect the phone to. I don't know what has changed other than i was gone for a month for work.
I need help please.
the last flash was Energy ROM 20090801 standard

Have you played with your USB to PC settings, untick\tick "Enable Faster Data"
If not, delete your sync relationship and establish a new one.

Yeah, I did both of those already. the only thing I can think to do is push the little button call "Wipe Device". then flash a new rom. I'm worried I will not be able to flash after that though.
I'm scared

Something is messed up... Sounds like a hard reset or a reflash is in order.....

Do you get the connection option screen when you plug it in to USB that says connect as:Active Sync, Modem or hard drive?

Usb Problem
From what i have seen, it can be the usb wire

Could be true. My usb wire at my studio is bad and I always have to curve it to make it work.

I might be mistaken, but I think I got a similar message a while back. I changed the setting in File->Connection Settings-> This computer is connected to: The Internet
And that did the trick for me...

Active Sync

Hello.
I asked the forum search about it, but cant find really an helpful answer.
I do have strong problem with Active Sync. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes, I got to install Active Sync new or drop out the device and add it new to get it done.
Button for fast data connection at the Touch Pro is enabled. Working with 4.5.0 and XP.
Can someone please get me a tip?
Hardware Problem?
I had the same problem with my TyTN II which is the reason I switched to Touch Pro.
The problem I could not synch was because of the MiniUSB connector. I had to change the main board twice. So now my wife owns the TyTN II
i solved that problem by changing another usb slot (it didn't work with USB from my monitor...)
Thank you.
I tried all 6 USB Ports and nothing helped.
Also, I tried to disconnect all other USB devices, also enabled and disabled the "Charging while connected to the PC" button.
Any other suggestions?
I also had thrown out the second device I had in Active Sync.

Have you disabled "advanced network functionality" in Settings>Connections>USB to PC ?
also try reinstalling active sync again...
@Wonkotehsame:
Yes, I disabled this function.
@ yahu:
So I did. Not just one time, many times. Always after reinstalling, it workes. Some time later, I am loosing connection.
Also, if I try to copy larger files like GPS software with appr. 1,4 Gb the transfer to the Memory card stoppes with the failure message: no such file found.
Can this be something along with the Active Sync problem?
I too have problems with this. ActiveSync says phone is set up to sync with a different computer, but it's not.
Still nobody any hint for this problem?
My problem is a little bit diferent...
My vista won't sync with my Artemis, but it syncs with my Glofiish M700..
If i change the PC (OS XP x64), the artemis syncs.....
So, my Vista Notebook is angry with my Artemis... neither USB/BT sync can be done...
Nice to hear that a lot of people have similar probs ;-)
What I have done now, deleted all of my connetions features/partnerships and made all new.
For now (maybe until Monday...) it works, but now I dont get a folder on the desktop of my mobile device. Is this an optional setting? Can someone tell my how to do?
I dont believe that NOBODY has an help for this problem.
As of today, no Active Sync in any ways is possible with my phone. Even not if I make a new installation.
Also; I made sure that all Anti Virus and Firewalls do allow all 3 Active Sync Files.
What can I do else???
Another try for the specialists:
I have copied now my Outlook.pst to a different Desktop, installed there the Active Sync. I worked w/o prob. That means, the problem got to be with the Desktop.
Last try: Who can help?

Looks like you are on your way to finding the root cause. I would try the same computer but a different user to see if it is related to the user setting.
This is what I have done last night. 2nd user, installed OL new and also Active Sync.
Nothing. Same problems.
I restarted the Desktop AND the device several times.
Nothing.
But, when I came this morning, it worked the first time.
The second it failed. I will go and purchase a new Desktop for the thanks of Mr. Microsoft!
has anyone found a real solution for this problem?? mmy computer recognizes the phone a a disk drive bt active sync does nothing. any help would be greatly apprecated
I'm getting this too. Sometimes ActiveSync works, sometimes it doesn't. I can't figure out what causes it to work and not work...
Theres only two possible solutions I know of from all I've ever heard of the problem:
1. Settings-->Connections-->USB to PC. Also, I know the prompt asking you if you would like to use as a disk drive comes up if you've set your phone to be read as an sd card reader. If the pop up annoys you, try removing the SD card and trying again.
2. Hard reset.
Sorry if it doesn't seem favorable to you guys.

Can't connect to activesync anymore

I am running WM 6.1 (Michyprima Full) and I wanted to flash to another ROM, however for some reason my phone will no longer connect to activesync on the desktop (tried two pcs). It can sync just fine via exchange.
Nothing has changed on the mobile device or the desktop; ActiveSync on the mobile device is set to allow connection via USB and activesync on the desktops is set to use USB to sync.
I know the underlying connection is ok because the device will start charging from the USB cable when it is hooked up.
What can I do to fix this situation so I can flash to a new ROM? I do not need to save anything on the device... I have tried soft-resetting.
EDIT: Also when I list USB connected devices on the desktop PC, I see one called "Windows Mobile-based Device"
did you use a ram cleaner
i used a ram cleaner and my device dosent get recognised by pc.let me know if you find a solution.

Have you tied going to Start/Settings/System (or Connections) and running USB to PC? Try unchecking 'Enable enhanced network' then OK back to the start screen and try reconnecting.
If that doesn't work, try a hard reset with the current ROM, and see if that fixes it. If so, you can then flash the new ROM.
If it still doesn't work, I think you can flash using a memory card or the Flash Drive without needing to access the PC.

Have you tried completely uninstalling ActiveSync from your computer, reboot, download and re-install ActiveSync. Its worked for me - sometimes the USB drivers become corrupt.
When I try and hit ok to commit the change of unchecking the advanced network functionality (it was checked before), the device just sits there with the spinning thinking wheel. Doing a soft reset and going back into the usb to pc shows the box still checked.
I will try a hard reset.

I think thats the only answer at present- the inability to change the A/S settings on the device suggest something's got corrupted somewhere
I was able to get it to sync after a hard reset.
However, when I attempted to load Michy's light ROM the device rebooted and sat at "Loading..." with a white screen. The wrapper then said error connection failed.
If I soft reset the device it comes back to the loading... screen; if I hard reset the device, it comes back to the loading screen after the hard reset. How can I fix this?
blast. left the stupid sd card in while i did the first flashing.
Removed SD card, re-hard resetted, then re-ran the ROM updater.
Sometimes its OK, sometimes it isn't- just one of those little mysteries I guess!
Glad its OK now. Michy's Lite ROM is excellent
Solution for deleted active sync notification called replog
YES...you guys definitely ERASED your Active sync NOTIFICATION file called replog. As someone suggested...he ran his CLEANER...then the problem begun.
It is true that Hard Reseting the device will get you back that file, but there is an easy way to do it...I can't find the original article but this file I will post will RE-CREATE that deleted replog notification file that is needed by active sync to work.
So next time you try and clean-up...just make sure you won't delete any file named replog
To use this FIX, just place it on your SD Card and run the file. If you want you can create an icon at Windows>Start Menu>Programs>to whatever folder... that will work too for easy access.
Just a word of caution...DON'T RUN THE FILE MORE THAN ONCE...why? Because it will re-create the file again. Although it won't hurt in any way except eat up internal memory, but you don't want any duplicated file... right?

[Q] What exactly did HTC do to blow up Mac syncing? and is there a fix?

As the title says, I use a mac and I have been unable to use both my M7 (After 4.4 Update) and my M8 on my mac. To be specific, android file transfer never sees the phone. Occasionally when booting my phone up when connected the manager pops up with a phone could not connect message, but it has never worked. This is isolated to just HTC phones for me, I verified my setup is fine with a Note 10.1 2014 (running 4.4.2), Nexus 5 (4.4.2), and a S4 (4.2). All of those connect fine.
I know there were some threads about HTC breaking something but I haven't seen a fix yet. Is there one?
If you're rooted, try DriveDroid. Let it acquire root, skip the setup, then tap on the Settings icon on the bottom bar. Then tap USB Settings and select Manually Change Permanent USB Mount. Select Media Transfer Protocol Android Debugging. Now connect your device. You should be good to go.

I hope not. I Loathe HTC Sync. Damn thing never quits right, doesn't run particularly well, and I just don't want another service running if I don't really need it. When I'm done with finals though I will try that. I have a bad feeling your right though...
If you restart the computer with the phone still plugged in, Android File transfer will work.

Forgotten passcode - no wifi, data or debugging on.

Hi guys,
Im in big big trouble. I have samsung A5 (2015) which I did not use for the past few months. Now when I decieded to sell it and to put my pictures and docs
on hard disk, It happened that I forgot my passcode. So the device is not connected with the internet, and debugging mode is off. I have many files in the device itself and not on SD.
I tried ADB with no success - that's how i know that the device is not in debugging mode.
I opened my google account to check - the device is not active.
No custom recovery installed or ROOT - everything is stock.
I tried to call on the number to try to connect to wifi when in dialing mode, but than I remembered that I redirected my calls to my actual number.
So is there any solution? I searched the web for the past few days and I'm about to lose hope.
Thanks in advance!

Well I'm not sure there is any way to get those files off of the device without remembering the password. If the files aren't too important and you still want to sell the phone, just boot to the bootloader (power off, then hold power, volume up, and home at the same time until bootloader loads) and use the volume down key to go down to wipe data/ factory reset and click volume up to do it. Of course you won't get to keep the files, but the password wouldn't be an issue anymore.
Thanks for the answer. I would like to make everything possible to save the files first, but as I continue to research.. maybe Im out of options
I managed to log in my Samsung account "find my mobile" where I have an option to remotely disable the passcode, but since I do not have internet connection Im not able to do anything.
So sad.. files are there but I can't reach them.. because of my stupid head..
If some have any idea - I'm ready to try whatever.
Thanks in adnvance!

I actually just thought of something. If you are able to remotely remove the password, but can't get to the wifi, you might be able to use an OTG cable (micro USB to full usb) and get a USB to Ethernet adapter to plug your phone into your router for a wired internet connection. I'm not sure if this would work for Android or for this specific phone, but that's possibly a way.

Troubleshooting USB problems

Hello, I have a Samsung A51 through T-Mobile. Recently my phone has only been charging and won't do any data transfer or bring up the menu to select what to do with the connection. After trying many different things I found out it will connect with data transfer only when I restart the phone while it's plugged in. Once I unplug the phone and plug it back in nothing. But if I leave it plugged in and restart it again it shows up.
Any ideas? All help would be greatly appreciated. I've looked around and cannot find anything regarding my issue.
Thank you
Try a known good cable.
Make sure the phone pop up enabling the data connection is enabled. Without permission each time access will be denied... at least on my Samsung.
Access the drive directly in Device Management; hit scan for new devices.
Check Event Viewer for errors logged.
Reload the drivers on the PC.

I can do all that. But only after restarting my phone while it's plugged in. It's not a cable issue or a USB port issue. Ive tried multiple cables and ports. And also tried same cable with different phone. The port on my phone is fine. If I plug it in, restart my phone it shows up as it should. Once I disconnect the phone and plug it back in, nothing. It's very odd. I think it may be an update issue from t mobile. But figured I'd check here.
Thank you for your response
Also, the pop up to allow access only shows up when phone is plugged in and I restart it. I unplug it and plug it back in. And it will only show thats charging and there isn't a prompt or selection of what to do with usb (transfer files, images, MTP, tethering etc.

Try this troubleshooting steps https://www.wikihow.com/Clear-the-Record-of-USB-Plug-in-Equipment and that https://www.partitionwizard.com/disk-recovery/the-last-usb-device-malfunctioned-windows-10.html from time to time my Samsung devices have some kind of issues with Windows 10.
Also you should try with adb commands pairing both and allow the access always when the prompt appears, it could be some kind of permission denied or malfunctioning that either Samsung is not asking correctly to PC or the permission from PC is not coming properly to device, this should happen due to some old logs or a filled directory in the USB hub in Windows that needs some cleaning.

Check Developer options>USB default configuration
Try clearing system cache on the phone.
Try a hard reboot on the phone.
If you unplug the phone from the PC you need to reauthorize it via the phone pop up after you reconnect it... each time.
If you always leave the PC on, reboot it.

Like I've said. There is no prompt unless I restart my phone while plugged in. This isn't my first phone. I understand how it "should" be working. And it only acts as it should when I plug it in and restart the phone. Once I unplug it and plug it back in its as if I'm using a charg only cable.
Thanks for the response

Meh then play with it... you know the drill.
Goggle it and look at other models/OS's that had the same issue as well. A lot of the same issues keep reoccurring so this tactic is helpful with newer models too.
Either it's settings, the load got screwed up or it's hardware maybe the port. Worse case... a mobo failure.
Try it in safe mode.
I probably do a factory reset* especially if it's an old load. If that fixes it but the issue returns latter, it's a setting or 3rd party app causing it.
*if it persists after a factory reset it's possible the firmware version is the problem or the firmware got corrupted during the flash. Reflash firmware.

Thank you. I'll start with safe mode and go from there. I appreciate your response.
It's frustrating. Find a usable work around for the time being if you can.
Most times the solution is staring you in the face, step back and rethink it. When did it start? What was done before it started?
Try clearing the data in the Android Setup apk (Android Setup com.google.android.setupwizard Android).
Use a 3rd party app like Package Disabler PD MDM to clear it as doing it in Settings leaves a Null* (presumably) and can't fix it sometimes. I know this particular app (PD MDM) works because I had it happen to me with a USB popup issue a while back.
Clearing Android Setup apk data completely resolved it. If you see Android Setup as a cache app it is the culprit; normally it never runs except during initial setup.
*when data is reported as zero, Nulls are apperantly not reported but still there screwing things up.
