Hi,
I've tried a few Hero ROMS on my UK Vodafone HTC Magic with varying success, but the three main features I like on the HERO that are missing from the Magic are:
* Searchable calendar - no search feature on the Magic but searchable on the Hero
* Intelligent dialler - dial pad on Magic just does numbers, on Hero you can select contacts by using the dial pad
* Keyboard - the HTC_IME keyboard on the Hero is far superior.
I have found and successfully installed the HTC_IME keyboard on the Magic, and it's great. Can anybody help with instructions on how to get the dialler and calendar onto a Magic using .apk files ? I tried using the .apk files from the Hero ROM package but the Magic won't allow me to install them. Do they need to be cracked / patched ?
Thanks in advance.

You need to replace the android core with the HTC modified one...not just a matter of adding apk files.
P.S. don't start 2 threads with the same topic next time

That was a big fail lol
Hi. I have a quick question. Where might I find the HTC keyboard? I had SenseUI flashed to my G1 and loved the keyboard. Now I have the Magic. I don't want to flash but would love the better keyboard.
Also, @op, look for SpellDial in the market. Its an ok replacement for the HTC dialer.

Hi
wondering how many people in here would like custom roms?!
if you provide for me the CAB files, i will customise for you windows mobile 6.
i have loads of time on my hands and nothing much to do, so would like to get a bit more acquainted with building roms!
Hello Duke_Stix
Firstly, thanks a ton for all your wonderful work with WM6. I would be very much interested in a custom ROM. Are you also looking into releasing an updated ROM with all the fixes that have been found since the last release ? Thanks.
up until the point i can release a fully working kitchen, i will be working with the most stable build.
at the moment my rom cooking skills allow me to add programs into the rom so they are there at boot.
give me a list of software you would like and i'll get to cooking something up and sending it to you for testing!

Hi Duke_Stix
It would be great if you could cook a ROM which included the following:
1) QTEK WM5 Splash screen instead of the current green gradient splash screen (Attached cab)
2) MMS Software
3) HTC Camera Software
4) xT9 for English
5) Java midlets
6) VOIP support
7) HTC Taskmanager
8) TCPMP Media player (Attached cab)
9) QTEK 8300 button fix (music buttons)
10) HTC Comm manager (Attached cab)
11) PHM Registry Editor (Which is in teh HTC folder in the ROM)
Also, could you application unlock it within the ROM ? App lock is such a nusance.
You can send me the ROM and I can test it and let you know if it has any bugs or not. Thanks very much !!
Hi,
What i prefer is to (and think that most of user will appreciate):
remove
1) voice command - for non english speaking useless
2) htc debug - who will use this except PHMRegistry
add
1) MMS support
2) Jeodek or Intent Java Midlet (i would prefer Jeodek)
3) HTC Camera 4.0
4) Sim Toolkit
5) CommManager
6) xT9
no need to have more app in rom everything else is in cabs so everybody can choose
thanks
custom wm6
ok duke_stix, since you said you have a LOT of free time, i would like to ask you to make me a custom rom, please...
i would like it to have:
- MMS Client
- a T-Mobile splash screen, or just a HTC
- HTC camera
- Java Midlets
- WM5torage
- a good overclocking program
- updated HTC commManager
- HTC task manager
- to change home page in internet explorer with Google one
- have the T-mobile internet settings built in
- xT9 in English
- sp5m button fix
- ip manager would be good
and all feature that Phil added by cab in his rom!
Regard... and TNX!!!
if you can upload it to rapidshare or smt and then send me a pm, or just post it so other t-mobile sda people could have it if they wanted
thanks a bunch!!!
Hi duke_stix,
Can you make something like the Prophet Rom Kitchen, where everyone would easily play with the ROM. Or would it be to much effort to put it that way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309057
Thanks in forward
HI
The only thing i would like to see preinstalled are the Jeodek java (the Intent jvm sucks!), english XT9 and italian XT9 cabs... may be you can split the huge xT9 languages cab into 2 or 3 sub-cabs that clutter less your phone with langauges you'll never use?
And, yeah, for splash screen:
- plz replace that green fade with a splash screen (*) and remove the red text that pops up
- delete the third splash "Mobile Operator" or replace it with HTC's logo
- on shutdown, another splash screens with "mobile operator" (a bit different from the first) pops up.... can u delete it?
(*) I've made some "institutional" splash screens which I would like to submit to your attention... may be you can select one of them as the official one, to be included in every build?
link: http://dl.gemini.dynalias.net/root/wm06.zip
(If you want another text string added, maybe with your credits, it'd be no problem, just ask me)
i shall start working later on today when i can get to my computer. its not particularly fun to cook roms on my tiny 12" ibm!

I fully agree with Davex:
remove
1) voice command - for non english speaking useless
2) htc debug - who will use this except PHMRegistry
add
1) MMS support
2) Jeodek or Intent Java Midlet (i would prefer Jeodek)
3) HTC Camera 4.0
4) Sim Toolkit
5) CommManager
6) xT9 (in my case English, German and Polish)
and
7) include Fring (available fromhttp://www.fring.com/wifi_download/getit.php?file=cab or http://www.divshare.com/download/1323047-1da)
8) include a cool skin of your choice (please, remember it should be pretty and functional )
9) make the ring tone sounds louder than usual. I do not know why but both Swiss and British ROMs have loud ring tone and both Qtek and i-mate very quiet so I miss a lot of calls What is interesting, the rest of sound signals are equally loud, so the bug (feature??) touches only non-Orange phones.
10) include Japanese railway station melodies http://www.divshare.com/download/1323244-688 also available from http://www.japan-railways.com/musice.htm ) believe or not but most of them are made by the best Japanese composers who had to make melodies which are simple, sound nice and are recognizable in noisy environments. The size of the midi files archive is very small - a bunch of melodies equal to 9 kilobytes only!
Thank you in advance!
Why do you want the crappy and slow HTC Comm Manager??
Just place the shortcut to the Windows-provided ready-in-the-ROM one, wrlsmgr.exe, in a file named SHORT_POC.lnk (it could be wrong... memory is faltering)
My suggest
Is this a Wishlist?I want my Rom more "Vanilla" and with more free Ram, everything i want is as cab out there, i ve never send an MMS or reallly need JAVA (??ive got an Smartphone, there are no F***ing java app out there exept Mobilemule that is usefull like a SmartphoneApp),PocketOffice is cool, but i dont need them very often, and so on... but the Idea with an BIG-APP-CAB-PACK is nice, ...to put them on or off, like Accesoires, and install them on Storage Card!!! if possible...why?I want more space for Homescreen-Customizing,System-Customizing,...but be careful with apps like VoiceCommand...it is Payware for older phones with WM05...better customize TWO Roms..one Vanilla(a little bit more than the current one, please) and a "Original" (with all the Appps known from other Models like the Vox, and some more..)

Hello All!
I made this rom using the Kaiser Kitchen by jcespi2005 and jugglerlkr because I wanted the new radio with the HTC dialer from a Kaiser. This rom is based on RUU_Kaiser_CINGULAR_WWE so use 1.27.14.09 Radio.
As an added bonus, the little camera icon on the dialer that started voice calls on the original HTC rom acts like a talk button for those of us too lazy to hit the actually talk button. It does not however function as an end button. I can't fix this because I don't know how it's functioning as the talk button in the first place.
Do not use this ROM on the Kaiser if your going to use the front mounted camera for video calls. I have a Tilt so I removed all the Video Call png's from the rom.
154.45MB Storage Total
101.38MB Program Total
Out:
ATT Dialpad (buttons too small)
PTT (PTT button functions as Voice Speed Dial on press and Record when held down)
Adobe Reader LE
ArcSoftMMS with SMS/MMS together
Clear Storage
Camera (old version)
Esmeretec Java
IA_ZIP
Real Player
Sprite Backup
TTY Settings
Sliding Sound and TouchFlo Clicking
Windows Update
ATT Junk From Operator Package (most ATT branded junk)
In:
HTC Dialpad (big buttons from HTC_WWE, not touchdialer)
HTC CommManager (9 button from HTC_WWE, not duttty's 10 button)
.NET CF and SQL CE 3.5
ArcSoftMMS with SMS/MMS separated
Camera (new version, it's the 5.04 version that's in dutty's dual touch v2)
Samsung Time
Bluetooth Audio Fix from AT&T's 1.61.502.2
Reg Tweaks:
Disabled Fast Sleep
Disable SMS Sent notification
Removed Title Bar Clock
Turned off Date on Today Screen (turn on through Settings -> Personal -> Today)
Enable HSDPA Icon (only icon, HSPDA can be enabled through Settings -> Connections -> HSDPA)
v3.4 changes:
replaced 1.60 SYS folder with identical SYS from 1.61.
rom date changed from 1.60's 11/01/07 to 1.61's 12/26/07.
*honestly I see no difference from 1.60 to 1.61 except for the bluetooth audio fix and a bunch of AT&T bloatware that was removed in my first rom. there is no need to update to my v3.4 if you're using my v3.3 rom. if you really want to update and want the new rom date and D version during boot you can backup your settings from 3.3 and restore to 3.4 without any issues. the only reason I made this rom is because there was a request for it.*

I made a cab to put the HTC Sliding Sounds back in Settings -> Personal. It is made to become Applet11 in the registry since the last applet in my v3.3 and v3.4 rom is Applet10. Don't try to use this with other roms unless you are 100% sure that your Applet11 is not in use. Reboot phone after installing.
congrats
congrats on your rom. i hope its as good as all the other roms that have been popping up as of late.
Well... The "smart mobility" startup screen was different. Scared me at first because I heard the phone vibrate from restarting and looked over to see a black screen with white writing. My first thought was, "Oh crud. What did I do?" LOL.
It's a very nice ROM, and was basically what I've been looking for since I started flashing ROMs. I'd say it sits inbetween the ATT 0.4.4 ROM, and Kyphur's XDA-Live ROM. It gets rid of all the bloatware and nonsense, while not being completely stripped down of some useful options. The HTC Dialpad, and CommManager are much nicer than their AT&T counterparts. It is fairly quick. I will have to see what it's like after I install HTC Home and a few other apps.
Very nice work.

Thanks! I'm not anywhere near the others (dutty, kyphur, custel...), but this rom fits my needs perfectly. Hope it works for you too.
Hello All. Just added a NetCF 3.5 version to the first post. Inspiration from Dutty, OEM from FAMAN.
Hi all,
I am a super newbi and just got a new at&t tilt. I want to get rid of the bloatware and install this ROM. This would be my first ever mod/rom installation. What are the steps (CID/unlock), how to install ROM. I tried to search here but too much information...can't comprehend. Is there a quick start guide somewhere? Please help. I dont want to brick my phone.
Look at the stickied thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679 by pof. Pretty much all you have to do is download the attachment at the bottom of the first post, activesync your Tilt, run the exe and follow the on screen instructions.
Remember if you want to use my ROM to upgrade the radio also. Links to ROM and radio are in the first post of this thread.
Thanks for the ROM. Exactly what I wanted. I like the dialer and comm manager from HTC - leave out all the att fluff and give me back the PTT button. Great job.
The Phone pad
I have a brand new Tilt and have added some cabs and i can say i would be very happy if I can just find the HTC phone dialer. Can you point me in the right direction?

If you do a search for "touch dialer" or "kaiser dialer" you should be able to find a bunch. I'd rather not recommend any one dialer because I can't guarantee how well they will work on your phone. Hope that helps.
.Net fix in first post
If anyone is using my DK35 rom with .NetCF 3.5, please install the cab on the bottom of my first post to fix .Net issues. There are 6 files that are the incorrect version in the ROM. The cab file will replace these files with working versions.
Anyone using DK35v2 does not need to install this cab. Sorry for all the trouble.
sound?
awesome work, I love the fact that its very lite! but! im not getting any sound. nada. when i slide out the keyboard or play mp3s, i only get a clicking sound from the speaker. is this happening to anyone else? sound works fine when i use a different rom.
Edit: Works now! Thank you, akadonny!
Blar, check your radio version. You need to use 1.27.14.09. I have a link to it in the first post by jscepi2005. No need to flash the ROM again, just do the radio.
Will this rom cause problems if installed on a Kaiser rather than a tilt. I am looking for a 3.5 .NET rom but would prefer not to hose my kaiser in doing it.
Bratag, I only have a Tilt so I'm not able to test. I would guess that if the stock ATT rom works than this should also. I'm also not sure if the front camera on the Kaiser would work.
Hidden Proxy
Did you strip the enable/proxy settings?
Thanks,
Greg
Hi Guys,
I was up to now questing for the original HTC Keyboard. Unfortunately, in defiance of searching with built-in search function and Google I didnt got what I was looking for.
I have a Diamond and use a custom ROM. So I am still missing the HTC Keyboard which is called something like ezInput as I estimate.
My Question: Is the (new) HTC Keyboard as a cab file available and if yes, in which thread, in which post is it attached
Thank you very much in advance, who ever knows that ...

Humm, a 30 second search in the QUESTIONS and ANSWERS and Apps and Themes categories yielded this link to a modded HTC keyboard that someone DEVELOPED and posted in to proper Apps and themes category.
Here is the best place to find the Modded HTC keyboard. http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=52767202
Or you can look in the Android area at PPCGEEKS.com for swipe. It is the best keyboard for the Hero, IMHO.

def recommend swipe. i just got it installed yesterday. its wicked.
Quick tip I just discovered. While typing, if you "hold" the top row for a short time (like one second) and drag up, it pops up the numbers and a few more punctuation things.

I recently started a thread in the Questions section dealing with the installation of the XDA HTC_IME keyboard v27.2. The trick is to install it from adb using the -r argument. This places the necessary data file on the phone.
