I'm new to WM6 and I'm sure my WM5 Universal let me save cab attachments to my card so I could install them, but my HTC Touch Pro 2 won't allow me to access an attached cab 'for security reasons'
There is no advanced setting I can change to allow me to access them - why do they treat us like morons?
So I put it in a zip but although the received email on my TP2 is the right size no attachment is shown :-(
So I had a brainwave and thought I'd just rename the cab a ms friendly doc before emailing it to my phone - but of course the standard file browser can't rename extensions and I haven't loaded a 3rd party file manager yet (maybe I'll email myself the cab for one....)
John
why u emailing the cabs to yourself, use bluetooth or even better active sync
cos its easier
failed miserably to get by Vista to send files by bluetooth to my TP2 and can't find my cable.
I'd use wifi but how do you do that with Vista? I have to transfer from my Vista to my XP networked the only way possible as a netwoirk drive, then wifi from there.
Email is far easier if pocket outlook didn't think it knew better :-(
Got Resco Explorer now so email my files as .docs , funnily enough half of then don't show up as attachments on my phone. hmmph
set up bluetooth share folder properly in your tp2 settings. that way when u bluetooth ur cab it will be saved directly in that folder.
U can specify where that folder is, (device or card).
If u install advanced config (search for it here) u can set it to keep the cab after install, for future reference.

I've install Pocket Informant 2007 today to my Storage Card (as its so big). I have also configured Pocket Breeze to use this as default PIM, however the Calendar softkey when pressed gives the following error:-
\WINDOWS\PICalendar.lnk
The file 'PICalendar' cannot by opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file.
I can load it ok from its shortcut in the Programs menu and from pocket breeze so its not the application thats not working.
Any ideas on how to sort this out? Is it because its installed to the Storage Card instead of local memory?
Thanks
Mark
Just to be sure, check that the \WINDOWS\PICalendar.lnk is the same file that you use to open via the Programs menu.
I'm with the same problem.
Someone help us?
Tks.
I found the solution.
1.
a. Remove PICalendar.lnk from the windows directory.
After this you will get a new error that says it can not find the shortcut.
b. You will have to edit your registry, so you will need an editor. I use Total Commander.
GO TO
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
Change the "Open" value to
\Windows\AppButtons\Calendar.lnk
2.
a. Remove PICalendar.lnk from the windows directory.
b. GO TO \Windows\AppButtons\ Copy the file Calendar and rename it to PICalendar and move to \Windows\
It will solve the problem. At least solved to me

Fabio can you post up what i need to edit so that the soft key for contact will default to Pi ?
thanks..
Hi,
Is there anyway with WM5 / activesync 4.5 to syc two folders rather than just the 'my docs' folder? I seem to be able to add extra files from the desktop to sync, but not folders.
I effectivly want to constantly & automatically backup a small folder on my PC to my XDA, aswell as the usual my docs folder.
Thanks Anthony

A program called easy sync will work for you. I needed the same thing and found that this program works wonders. Not to difficult but not very easy either, but will sync any folder, file or whatever else you want in whatever folder you have on your device and computer. Hope this helps.
Here is the link:

EXCELLENT!
Great!
Looks perfect, I will never forget to keep those files backed up now, it will be done everytime I connect my PPC.
Perfect thanks
Anthony
I'd like to know if it's possible to use ActiveSync (or any other 3rd party add-on, for that matter) to sync files from any location on my host computer's hard drive onto my WM6 Professional device.
I've tried enabling 'Files' in the syncing menu in ActiveSync, but all that does is create a directory in my computer within 'My Documents' which I'm supposed to put the files which I want synced. I need something more than that -- I'd like the ability to say 'ok, I have file x on my computer in directory y... go sync that to my device in directory z'.
Check out http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=985 which does the job.

Newer versions are commercial but this one (last freeware one) will do the job flawlessly - it can sync data on SD card too.
Thanks guys!

I bet the file is not in the Windows folder.
You could change it to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\PocketInformant\PICalendar.lnk (sorry guessing here )
Or even better, use THIS tool to assign PI to your softkeys
Works on VGA and qVGA devices.
Hi,
Is there any way of installing Live Messenger on HTC Raphael?
I had it on my HTC S710 WM6.
Can i copy it from the S710 to my new Rahpael?

maybe?
not one of those worked on my fuze.... really frustrating trying to get my hotmail email on my fuze.. you would think microsoft would make it easy for you to use MICROSOFT hotmail when using your MICROSOFT windows mobile phone...
This will probably not help you much but monx has included Live Messenger into ROMeOS².
Maybe he could provide you a working cab-file?!
HTH

Hi,
It is kind of a effort to get Windows Live Messenger to work on a Raphael without it being pre-installed. Trust me, I know. I went through the same pains as you guys did. Every cab file I downloaded just simply didn't work....
But I've found a solution, but it's kinda tedious to do it. And I can't really remember what I exactly did. In general this is the process:
1) Download a registry editor, for example Resco Explorer or PHM registry editor (google it)
2) Download the cab file for Windows Live (without messenger) from Microsoft.com
3) Download Windows Live Messenger 10.6.39.1300.cab. It floats somewhere on xda-developers
4) Pick up your old WM device with Windows Live pre-installed and also install a registry editor on it
5) Install the registry editor on your Raphael. After that install Windows Live with messenger. Don't start it!
6) On your desktop open the Windows Live cab (no messenger) from Microsoft with winrar (http://www.rarlabs.com) and extract the xml file located in it. Open this xml file with notepad
7) In this file scroll down until you see the registry edits it uses when installing. What you need to do is compare these to the ones in the registry of your Raphael. I can remember that a string named "Login" was missing from my Raphael, so I manually added it to the registry of my Raphael. But there are more that I can't remember.
8) Take your old phone and compare its registry entries for Windows Live Messenger to
the registry of your Raphael. Copy these over.
9) Start Windows Live every now and then to see if it works. When it doesn't compare the registry entries again and copy some over. Eventually it will work...
I told you it is a lengthy process, but eventually I got it to work...
I am no programmer so I don't know how to make a cab file for automatic addition of these entries. Please try it this way. When it doesn't work, I'll try to dig into my registry and post the entries here.
Scott
Weird... I can get my hotmail emails through the messaging, and i didn't have to do anything fancy....
I made a cab running for any TPhere the link:

It is the same posted in wiki
works great! thanx!
