I love ION and Hero too me is just...extra stuff? I love ION for the sheer speed. I run the old 08/08 version with little to no issues...Infact just updated my old release with finalized Wifi (hadn't done that lately).

I've got some good news today: the Android 1.5 SDK, release 1 is ready! Grab it from the download page.
For an overview of the new Android 1.5 features, see the 1.5 release notes page in our developer site.
I am also happy to let you know that our partners at HTC have made available new system images to upgrade your Android Dev Phone 1 (ADP1) to Android 1.5. This new version (which is only available for the ADP1) is based on the Cupcake branch from the Android Open Source Project and corresponds to the system image of the Android 1.5 SDK, release 1. If you have questions about the process of updating your device, you can ask the mailing list that we've set up.
I'd also like to note that Android developer phones like the ADP1 are intended for application development, rather than daily use. Additionally, they are operator-neutral and country-neutral, so they may not include certain features found on end-user devices.

Sweet. Now all I need is an official update to my G1 to support it. Oh, and a subsequent JF version, of course.

Yeah i hear ya, this is from htc not t mobile anyways so I'll wait for the real update.
ADP is the real update... i don't see why anyone would want the bastardized t-mobile version with all the extra crap
One reason might be to get protected apps on the market.

No its the htc version not tmobile's. I have tmobile that's why i want the extra "crap" I don't care for the myfaves but want the official update from tmobile via JF. My reasoning as well jashsu!
anyone found the sim application toolkit?
Errr... JF already announced he was doing an ADP1.5 release... and in fact he has always done both the ADP and RC (t-mobile) releases... so... yeh no point there.
As for protected apps... thats a pretty simple fix, just a change in the properties file, which perhaps JF will include, if not, its really easy to do.
And lastly, no, ADP is the official google release for the Android Developer Phone, which is exactly the same as the T-Mobile G1, as they are both the HTC Dream. The ADP release is just the 'pure' google release of Android, without stupid things like myfavs (hurray for tons of emails!) or the spam amazonMP3 app.

How does one change the properties file?
Then, maybe I'll do the ADP one with the change you mention, when JF updates. I never use the Amazon App or the MyFaves as I have not a MyFaves service plan. Anything special about handling Apps/Data to SD with doing this?

Recently, I’ve been debating with myself if I wanted to tackle making a new “JF” image based on 1.5 when it came out. I really wasn’t looking forward to making a new update. But now that’s its actually here, the “update bug” has bitten again, so I’ll get to work on it this evening!

There's a nice little snippet about GLSurfaceView at the Android Blog:

This is nice! Perhaps we'll see a small explosion of apps doing sophisticated 2d/3d rendering now. Next... a serious XML layout graphical editor. (one can hope, right?)
I put an OpenGL project on hold due to the complexity of doing so...
It looks like this will make it much easier so I may start it up again.

HyperCSDI v3.2-Faster than ...........

I give you HyperCSDI, The ultimate SuperCSDI.
This rom was posted on a smaller forum some days ago... and has reached over 9000 downloads. So its time to post it on a big forum like xda...
its superfast and supersmexy!
It's based on an unreleased version of Superatmel's SuperCSDI v5. Most of the issues of the beta have been fixed, what leaves is a superawesome rom.
SupSetup has been removed on this (We decided it caused issues), and some useful apps have been added. Also HTC Music and some stuff (I promise no warez like all the other roms)...
It's designed with Stock Donut designed so i won't include screenshots.
Plus you can't take a screenshot of something the speed of light (I'm cerial, this is the fasest rom evarz, it makes SuperD look stupid)...
Metamorph will only work on this as it is the rom everyone will soon be using, I need to get in contact with Stericson to ensure this.
Enjoy: Click to Download bit ly/d5aLYc (Replace replace " " with ".", because I can't post links )
Features:
Speed!
Based on unreleased SuperCSDI
Change Log:
Design is stock
Changed some files around
Added cool apps!
Removed some apps!
More as it comes along...
Credits: I want to thank myself the most for pushing through it even when I didn't understand how to use some of the tools I used (The signing tool, winzip, more as it comes to me, I'm only 12 I forget!). And of course this would not be possible without the porn I watched during the uploading process because I may have quit!
It's even better than the latest openeclair alpha (someone uncoded it for me, password is: letswinzip). And that there will never be a better donut... other than the chocolate kind
I'm so proud I made something this fast at 12!! Don't forget a 12 year old made this so if you don't like it don't say anything

[ROM][32B] HTC Aria [WIP][WIP]

I am making an HTC ATT Aria rom from the RUU with the filename:
Code:
RUU_Liberty_Cingular_US_1.25.502.2_Radio_47.37.35. 09_7.08.35.06_release_128691_signed.exe
This IS the software shipped with the HTC Aria. This will work well for the G1/32B because:
- it is HVGA
- it is HTC Sense
- Has ATT apps... Should I remove them before release?
- Contains the NEWEST branch of code from HTC's Android Department (newer than slide, legend, etc. the newer the better)
- Shiny Graphics
- Updated wallpapers/app graphics/etc.
- it supports GSM frequencies/radios out of the box
Out soon. But don't expect this to be Out soon.
No I'm not wasting my time typing this, it's extracting
Post your comments about what you'd like to see in this rom.

Hm... probably not. but adb install works on the ATT phones that "block" it anyway... so it's kind of a fake block, i.e. it's missing in the menu but it doesn't actually disable the functionality. I always use ADB install anyway.
That's pretty awesome, I hope it's fast.
Thanks for this...But I dont understand why att wanted to block the install, why ruin that?

updated bionic

Bionic is libc for Android. It's a target for optmization because most android programs call into Bionic (functions like memcmp, memcpy, strcmp, etc. are all there) - making bionic faster would improve the speed of a lot of other programs at once. So far, 10-50% improvement seen in microbenchmarks on the optimized version of these functions.
changelog:
version 1.0:
-initial release
-backport changes from gingerbread (switches to v6 atomic instructions, faster strlen)
version 1.1 updates: <--current version
-updated memset, memcpy, memcmp, strcmp, strchr, strcat, strcpy, memchr to faster, optimized versions w/neon or DSP instruction support where applicable.
version 1.1: http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/update-1.1.zip
old version 1.0: http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/update.zip
to restore back to the EC05 version, run:
http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/restore-ec05.zip
Most likely it'll only work on something close to EC05, but I haven't really tested.
benchmark with 0xbench - http://code.google.com/p/0xbench/ (libmicro) to see improvements.
you'll need a bunch of binaries installed for libmicro, i've compiled them and provided an update.zip here that will automatically install these for you: http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/libmicro.zip

This is also working just dandy so far. I don't have any benchmarks to back up any sort of substantial performance gains, but I'm sure the few tweaks you're doing here and there will add-up to a very nice user experience improvement. I have noticed that after this as and the davlik patch were applied, the interface seemed to be much more fluid and smooth without any annoying pauses you sometimes get due to scheduling.
So again, thanks no2chem and definitely keep up the badass work, mi amigo!

He actually seemed to disappear for a while (web page and from forums) so glad to hear he/she is alright and ready to produce some more amazing work. I am suddenly VERY OPTOMISTIC just knowing a great dev is on the task, particularly one that's been dealing with such intricate coding/mods (dude found a way to get extra memory available by disabling the camera, in a way that made the phone HUGELY more useful! For just one example...)

Bionic is libc for Android. It's a target for optmization because most android programs call into Bionic (functions like memcmp, memcpy, strcmp, etc. are all there) - making bionic faster would improve the speed of a lot of other programs at once. In fact, it's at the heart of the idea that drives the greendroid project: http://greendroid.ucsd.edu/ which aims to implement libc in very power-efficent conservation core (c-core) hardware. While we can't do exactly implement new hardware, we can attempt to improve the speed of our device by backporting the latest updates to bionic to our devices running older versions of Android, and also optimize Bionic in other ways.
I'd imagine this project requiring several parts:
1) The first part is to figure out how to compile bionic and update libc.so on our phones. It's actually not a trivial task as the exports in AOSP version of bionic differ slightly from the version on our phones... Fortunately I was able to fix that by implementing the missing two exports (they were syscalls).
2) Backport changes from the master bionic tree into our bionic while maintaining the same interface to applications. Fortunately, libc doesn't change much, and they've mainly been adding new functions to bionic instead of changing old ones - I've backported most of the changes now.
3) Figure out which functions are slowing the system down and could be improved. This will probably require some profiling to figure out which parts of libc android spends the most time in.
4) See if there's other places we can take optimized functions from. Some canidates include glibc, the linux kernel, and the implementation in ARM's RVCT.
I've done 1-2 do far. I can't really tell if there's a performance change, but it seems to boot okay on my stock EC05 ROM. There's an update.zip posted at
http://www.nuerom.com/bionic/update.zip
Most likely it'll only work on something close to EC05, but I haven't really tested.
It seems that some string functions were optimized, at least one (strcmp, i think?) was replaced with an assembly version that was 10x faster, and some bugs that caused atomic locking code to be suboptimal were fixed).

Not to mention that I don't know if they're even somewhat compatible with each other.

Wow, perfect! I'm looking for an updated manifest to work with, do you happen to have yours posted anywhere (GitHub, Gitorious, etc.), or do you not build from source?
Btw, if anyone is bored and has nothing to do, add me on Battle.net and hit me up with some Starcraft II

sorry i only port, never from source
I have actually been wanting to port B2G to the g1 for a while now (I've been building the source for the emulator since it was very early on at andreasgal's github).
I'm building it now and will try to see why it's not booting, if I have a little extra free time, after I finish my next LMCFroyo release.
There's really no reason to try polishing anything before now and the actual release; there will probably be many large changes over the course of the year. However, there's no reason to not toy around with this right now in order to see what changes will need to be made in the gecko/gaia source.

Thanks, I got adreasgal's repo yesterday and have been messing with it a little bit, how does it differ from mozilla's official repo?
Ok, I'm syncing for the HTC Hero right now.
EDIT: Downloading the latest CM7 nightly for vendor files...
