[ROM] JACxROM - Magic - v1.3r3 - [32A] [PORT] - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I've been working on porting JACxROM v 1.3r3 to Magic...but need someone to host.
It's for those who agree that Hero (while incredibly friggin COOL) is not quite ready for prime-time...at least on the G1 I was using previously.
Right now, it's a straight-forward port with no guarantees of ANY kind. I'm using it on the Rogers-Spec 32A I picked up only YESTERDAY for use on AT&T.
Thanks in advance.
nolsen311[at]gmail me if you're interested, I can probably send it to you.

It has already been ported, just not so popular so the thread is 3 pages back
Here
You could also try CyanogenMod 4.0.1 which is prolly the fastest ROM out there

thats r2! he seems to have r3??? (not in original thread???)

Yeah the text reads r2 but the link is actually r3 Someone was hasty

maybe you two can merge. you can host via megaupload.com, they are no download limits and it is free and fast.
for me, cyan's rom for cupcake is the way to go, while JAC's rom for Hero is the best.

Dude stop trolling. You busted this 16 year old kids chops about "whats different about this ROM then the 1000 others on xda." Well now he's merged two ROMs into 1, so stfu. Stay in the thread of your lame ass Hero ROM and stop busting on others. Maybe you could be using the time to get Bluetooth working and innovating some of your ROMs instead of busting those who are at least ATTEMPTING to get things done. You haven't even updated your ROM in OVER 2 weeks! Your ROM is just a damn rip off of everything JAC's already done. And if the dude ever does get it to work, I bet you'll be the first asshole to rip his work with no credit(or pull some BS "optimization" and claim it "new and improved").
No one is forcing you to use this ROM. And just because you make a ROM doesn't mean you run **** on XDA. Hop off the dude's nuts...
Kept getting reboots on htc screen.

Why don't you release your Eclair Hero? Oh wait, that's right, it is watermarked and Maxisma hasn't finished removing those, while you sit around waiting for him to do the real development. Oh, I am so sorry, isn't that supposed to be the line you use when ripping on everyone else?

hey klick. you think your the best now? all you do is boast how drunk you get on twitter and bag on other peoples roms. just cause you got bagged on when you first started making roms doesnt mean you should do the same to tmack. your roms are too slow. face it, theres no more hype for your roms anymore.
So know that we all have an understanding that his ROM's are slow, can we get back on topic? I want to see where this ROM goes, not wonder where the thread disappeared to.

Instead of busting his chops, consider that he's using Hero as a learning curve. Do you expect a new dev to "learn" using something even the more experienced dev's haven't even touched yet? No. When the possibility for Donut or Eclair Hero ROMs emerge, I'll expect that he'll be able to take the knowledge he knows and use it to work on that.
As for this ROM I haven't found it to be slow at all. As speed goes, I find it to be on par with that "Flash This Hero" ROM (its first version anyway). It feels less sluggish than SenseHERO to me as well. The only Hero ROM I've found to have been noticeably faster than others would have been Drizzy's Final Hero and the (earlier) versions based off of it maintained by Maxima.
Good job.
without going into the merit of which Hero rom is best, I find that the current version of KiNgxKxROM Sense Hybrid Version 2.3 to be the fastest Hero rom currently available.
Having said that, I still encourage all developers and appreciate the work that they do to keep our G1s alive.
The people in this thread are just begging for it to be closed.
Anyone flash this yet and have a report on how it runs? I will probably give it a whirl later in the day. Always fun to test for a new dev, been my experience that some are true diamonds in the rough, hoping for the best!

SPL Required: Haykuro's Danger SPL

Bugs: There is a problem with the ringtones, when you flash this rom, the folder where the default ringtones are supposed to be gets renamed. Im working on a fix now, I just figured I'd release this beast for the masses.
I am open for suggestions for improvement. This is not an area for criticism of flaming, that will not be tolerated. It only takes one person to ruin this for everyone. If you enjoy the ROM, then please rate it well, if you don't please make a suggestion to make it better. Other than that, do not get off topic and I will answer most of your guy's questions.
Oh, and I almost forgot, this is a G1 forum. I do not want to hear anything about the Magic and whether or not this will work. Wrong place to ask, I believe there is a Magic forum for that!
Enjoy

He dosent have a build yet.
Just wondering why you chose 1.5 over 1.6?
As most roms are 1.6 or 2 (don't use personally. Need camera) seems strange to me to flash an older firmware.
Was wondering how long you would go dark, does this need swap or can it work with just compache?

Hero doesn't come in a 1.6 version.
And since HTC STILL hasn't released the drivers for 2.+ that are compatable with the G1 it seems logical to use 1.5

They most likely wont, but tmo is releasing 2.0 for g1 so drivers will be avail before February assuming devs will continue to support G1...Eugene has a droid, manup a mytouch, maxisma a liquid..Some devs are upgrading their phones which was my point, if they stay with G1 that would be nice. But we'll still have cyan for custom roms.

Released! [32A Port] KiNgxKxlicK AOSP 2.1 [v1.4] using King's #2 kernel [2/3/2010]

Due to popular demand I'VE BUILT a 32A port for King's AOSP 2.1-1.4. I'm using King's kernel config for maximum compatibility, tweaked for our 32A boards.
Original Rom Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622170
Installation instructions:
Download King's original rom from the thread link above.
Download my port file from http://bit.ly/apacheo_kkaosp21_32a - NOW AVAILABLE.
Copy both to the root of your SD card
Flash King's rom
Flash my port file over the top - no wipe!
Reboot and enjoy!
Update! ROM is now released - link above. Enjoy this blazing fast rom.
Thank you for another 32A port! We need more ppl with this initiative!
But I must ask: any plans to port it to 6.35 radio?

No immediate plans, but (and I'm happy to be corrected) radio compatibility is a ROM issue rather than a kernel issue. I'd expect it'd require a matching RIL from a device that uses the new radio, like a hero or something?
Thank you very much for porting KiNgxKxlicK AOSP 2.1 [v1.4] for HTC Magic (32B). I'm using this ROM in my G1 and is incredible fast and stable
Just one question, is necessary any special SPL for 32A?
Keep up the good job

I'm not sure either, but I think it's like any other port: boot+kernel+libs, etc. At least I just installed [ROM][32A RADIO 6.35] SuperD 1.6 - 24/01/2010 and all I did was flash the default ROM from 32B boards [48Mb] + Phil_McRevis Port file [2Mb] and all is working well

I need the new radio 32A port
can't sign into my google account..
this is a major problem and I have no idea what could be causing it
every time it just says "you don't have a network connection"
even though I do..
though on the plus side, facebook sync seems to be working but I can't tell as I don't currently have any contacts to sync(no google account)
wifi, 3g, gps and bluetooth are working of course
though the phone isn't recognizing any of the buttons on my headset
not sure if that's an issue with the rom or not
live wallpapers don't seem to be working for me
some of them move, some don't
but none of them respond to touch
the addition of the weather/news widget and the "clock" app is nice
why are we not seeing the new launcher yet though?
also, any word on getting the browser, gallery and maps from the update for the N1 today?
it would be really nice if someone could post those somewhere..
correction
signing into google in the settings didn't work
sigining into google from gmail didn't work
signing into google from the market did work!
hooray!
but now I see that facebook sync really isn't working..
we love you apacheo
will dl rom when i get home from gym and try it out... ill let you know of issues. Does anyone know when to expect 3D accelerators for 32A ? wouldnt mind having video recorder back.

It would if King changed his rom to include the new RIL etc.
Radio compatibility isn't determined by the kernel - it's determined by other things, so my port doesn't affect it - its up to the rom cook to determine that.

Usually it takes about 2-3 minutes. Is the boot animation freezing for a second or two? If so, you need to reinstall it.
Make sure you have the SPL and Radio from my signature. You can also find there the port I've made (with Magic Port ) for King 1.4 and it works very well for me!

[ROM][WIP][LEGEND] Information on my Upcoming Legend Rom

Droid eris has bored me, as it seems no better than one of my all-time favorite sense roms: KingKlick's Eclair Hero 1.1.
Legend, however, has something special to offer. It is a new software, new features, has a new look, and IS STILL, and PROBABLY the last, HTC rom/phone with 320.480, so it is my goal to make it the best I can. And hey, it's gsm too (no problems like my eris rom).
My rom will be based off of the Taiwanese build 1.31. No other roms are currently based off of this HTC ruu, king's being 1.10 and vega's being 1.23.
My steps for the completion of this rom:
1) Extract RUU
2) Get it into a packaged form and booting
3) RELEASE version 1
4) Add cache hack, whatever else is new.
5) More upgrades.
Unfortunately, #1 is where I'm stuck... I need someone to help me extract the RUU. The download link I used is from the legend forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649565
I clicked the "find more" link, and found an even newer one than the one linked directly in the thread, .709.2 instead of .707.2.
I need help to extract it and get this project on the road!
Thanks.

You jumpin' on this bandwagon too? Can't wait to see it anyways . However, don't let your roms go into the directions of King's(as in starting a new rom every month or so) Friendstream smells good.

Good luck mate
The GSM Hero is getting 2.1 Sense within the next couple of weeks. Why don't you save yourself some hassle and wait for that? That piece of hardware is a lot closer to the Dream
man legend roms are awesome love the friend stream out beats moto blur by a long shot. Make it fast i tried king's and vega and its gets slow after a couple hours of use even when i use the clean stale scene
i like blur and sense, legend is nice too. Problem with them is even the 1.5 are laggy. Why not work with vega and firerat? Rather than having 2/3 legend roms, just make 1 good rom.
i was able to extract the RUU into a rom.zip i just cant seem to get the boot.img to split. PM if you want it
i personally would like to see a good Pulse Rom ported but im probly the only one lol
709.2 doesn't mean it's newer than 707.2. I explained this last year, the first two numbers (1.23) reffer to the build version, the last two numbers (405.1) reffer to the vendor, in this case 405 being WWE, 707 being Taiwan (i think) and 709 being SE Asia WWE (again, I think).
Other than regional settings, both roms should be about the same.
I'd like to get myself a hold of the RUU king's using for his rom (unodexed).

he's not using an unodexed RUU. He's using apk's and frameworks that are already deodexed by Raiderx303 or something like that. Look in the hero forum. But it's good to know that the build numbers are consistent. Vega is using newer deodexed apps and frameworks, but his roms are slower...

Some of us decided to start a new thread like Royalknight6190's ROM Bible, because that hasn't been updated since Feb. 2011. However, as demkantor pointed out, the ROM Bible is pretty up to date up until Froyo, so there's not much point just reposting stuff. Therefore, although I have gone down as far as Eclair, I've only added new, relevant ROMs. Please PM me if I have missed out a ROM, this needs to be kept up-to-date
Credits: Don't know how we're gonna sort credits out, over the years there'll be tonnes of people we want to thank!

This is pretty nice. Although i'm a magic user, even magic users can benefit from that.
Reserved
Oops, too late, but....reserved.....
I once started a dedicated site for this, but that didn't go anywhere.
It was pretty nice because anyone could add to it.
Oops, didn't mean to thanks, but I'm sure you deserve it anyway frankdrey!
Yeah I wish we had gotten more done with that site, but o well, I guess we were both just too busy.
I was thinking maybe we could make some addition to the xda wiki? Don't know how well that would work but...
Anyway htcdreamon is going to speak with a mod and see if we can clean up this thread, add a spot or two for each of us in the begining and we each be resposible to add info, I'm sure if you want in to it could be done

I agree, most of my searching for info and resourses for my 32b was done in the g1 section.

Oh no, really, doesn't matter at all, I'm trying to get a mod to give demkantor a post under the OP anyway, so we can move stuff around then.
On a general note to everyone, do people want versions of Android in ascending or descending order? i.e. ascending (from cupcake through to Jelly bean) or descending (from Jelly bean down to cupcake)?
I say newest first, as people probably want to see what's newest right away. Also the older stuff is all linked in the rom bible

What d'you mean by "older stuff"? Also, I'll thank you tomorrow because apparently I'm limited to 8 thanks per day.
Looks like I got some left!
the rom bible is realy complete up to early 2011 or so, since then most roms have been froyo and up, actualy the rom bible probably has everything ecliar and older so if we start with the latest people can have the all in one place for roms that have never been listed before. As we get time we can link it all!

OK, stickied this one. Need to get one of the admins to resolve an issue with the second post, copied the first post like normal to make a second one but for some reason the system is swapping them. Edit: Just read the rest of the thread and realized you ended up wanting a different arrangement there, sorry. OK, let me see if I can fix that up and put something by demkantor in the right place. Actually demkantor mentioned a cleanup as well there, so maybe consider what you want and then self report the thread and let us know.

Definitely!
It's hard to find the newest roms, not that there are many anymore. They tend to get buried by posts to old roms.
Maybe starting up that site again would be a good idea?
It'll be a lot more flexible than this :|
If you think so, we have two choices on how to do it:
1. phpbb (authorship will get awkward, since original devs arent around to post their roms)
2. html (will be the most flexible, but also most difficult )
and *sigh*
3. Me and my friend (a php coder) code a web platform for this specific purpose. This is by far the best way, but will take the most time and effort.
I see what you mean, this is proving difficult to make more widely editable. Also sorry for the gaps, I haven't had much time to work on this.
Hey thanks bro for mentioning me!
To clear up some info, the ezgb linaro kernel is built by me for cm9, and is just the ezgb 1.5.3 ics kernel built with linaro. I had further plans for it, but I've had very little free time recently.
The 1.5.3 kernel is built by me from anddisa's git without code changes. His code was just ezterrys latest kernel plus some patches needed on ics. I just compiled and posted.

Ahh thanks for info. The ezgb linaro doesn't boot for me by the way, so I always have to use the normal ezgb 1.5.3 for ICS, which works fine. 2078 radio.
EDIT: Did you delete the post where you had the download link for ezgblinaro? I couldn't find it anywhere apart from Banana4444's thread
