Can I put a JesusFreke rom on my mytouch 3g? - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hi, I rooted my mytouch 3g and installed a hero rom. However, it seems the hardware isn't up to par with the hero software and it seems a bit laggy. Anyway, I read somewhere that Jesusfreke roms are considered the most "stable." If I can install it, which ones can I use?
Also, if you think theres a better "stable" cupcake rom, please tell me! Thanks!!

I haven't seen Jesusfreke rom that are compatible with the myTouch but cyanogen is good too, check out his rom and check out the themes in the dream section.

Want something as fast and stable as the JF.
Flash this ROM and PM me feedback.
It's not release yet, but 2-3 days it will be.
This is the same type of ROM as found in my thread at ...

I'm sure you'll be happy with this.

(Was a time limit on that link , so if you got it... you did, PM me with feedback)

Hey a.kim,
This ROM is aimed at using the Official T-Mobile binary release of the framework and apps, but with all the features a root user would typically want. (Pretty much like a JF build, but with some more built-in features)
For more info you could visit my thread in the Dream section ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538456
Essentially I have a new version v1.6.x that is on the brink of release that can run on the dream and sapphire (32B) hardware.
I've been giving out the pre-release version to those you desire.
If you are interested, you can PM me and I'll send you the link. Otherwise the official release will be in a day or two now.

What is Hyder Dragon VI ROM

Hi Guys,
I am using HTC Tilt 8900 unlocked phone and i am looking to upgrade the rom. I came across Hyper Dragon ROM VI. Kindly let me know is it the latest one available right now.
The biggest question in my mind is how to cook the ROM with HyderDragon Vi ROM. Kindly advice.
Regards,
Siddh

Start with this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
It will explain how to flash a ROM onto your phone. The process is the same on all ROMs, so once you learn how to do it with one ROM, you can do it on all ROMs. Make sure you do the hard spl first.
As for the latest and greatest, the release dates for most of the ROMs are in the subject line of the thread (look in this ROM development forum- most of the posts are ROM threads with a ROM you can download). The ones that don;t have the date in the subject, will have the date in the first post. You can ask specific questions in each individual ROM thread.
I've used a few Hyperdragon ROMs (not the latest, but the one before that) and they are pretty good. They're all pretty good for that matter. If you're using a stock ROM, you'll like whichever one you put on it a lot more than the stock.
I know it was probably a typo but its actually HyperDragon IV
HDIV is the latest Rom from Sakajati and is a Hybrid WM6.5 which is in test stage so should only be flashed by members who dont mind wiping their phone once a week to get the latest bug fixes.
If you want a VERY Stable and Fast Rom with NO bugs that you can keep on your phone for a while then I would recommend flashing HyperDragonIII 25th December Build.

ROM builder for Sapphire?

Now that Haykuro is gone we need someone else to step up.... i don't have my Magic yet but it is being released here in 2wks....
I have been using Dudeoflife's rom on my G1 for a few weeks now and it rocks....
here is a statement he made today:
The dude's g1 builds will exist as long as he has a g1.
If dude ever gets his own magic (sigh....) he'll make roms for both.
If haykuro is really done...the dude may continue his work on hero...using this unwatermarked rosie image.
Can we start a collection for a magic for him?
Any takers?
I would like to learn how to develop rom' s by my own.
But I don' t know how to start.
Would say my linux skills are not bad, but as I said I don' t know how to start.
If any developer will give me some hint' s I will start cooking roms
why don't you give Dude a PM and see where he learnt..... it's over my head- i am a linux noob... theming i can do though.....
Anyone know how big the difference is between the magic and the g1?
Looking at the 2 ion roms that Haykuro made, it seems that only difference is the boot.img. So it might "just" be a case of making a new kernel for the magic rom.

[REQ] Cyan 1.7 Release 1 base 3.6.8.1 Palm Pre for 32A

I have been messing around with the boot.img to try and get this to work on the 32A board, but if someone could help with the port it would be appreciated (or point me in the right direction)!
I have this on my Rogers device. I have very limited knowledge but it seems to be working. Thanks to jerpelea in this thread for porting it to 32b from the dream...that is beyond me. See this thread for known issues/info about cyanogen's excellent rom. For interest sakes I followed these steps by amon_RA. If you find problems that arent from Cyanogen's ROM, let me know, not sure what I will be able to do...but I can try.
I'm very interested as well if this is ported to 32A.

any success with the palm pre version on 32A?
Not yet...my linux machine has had a little hickup, so right now I am unable to try and repackage a boot.img for the palm pre rom. I'll post one here if I get one working.

Port new rom to 32a magic....

looks like there is a new update for hero phones...can it be ported for 32a boards?
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...018/02-09-1-5-modaco-custom-hero-rom-is-here/
I don't understand what's so special about this ROM.
I was reading the description and among all there's one application (that you can get it apart of this ROM) and that's it..
I know who can port it, I don't but, why you want it so much?
Is this the update that made hero smoother?
You linked to a ROM that has nothing to do with hero update.
Invalid link source.
That doesn't have much to do with the described topic.
I was willing to provide some assistance, however - I was misled.
Thanks, but no thanks.

[KITCHEN] Basic ROM kitchen for aspiring Magic cooks [PC/MAC]

Hi guys,
Over at the HTC Hero forum I have been developing a kitchen to help ordinary people learn how to build their own ROM. It allows you to do basic things such as rooting a shipped ROM, adding apps2sd, modifying the task killer memory threshold, etc.
The appropriate settings are now in place to make it work for the Magic.
Here is the link to the kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Before you flash your new custom ROM made from this kitchen, please make a Nandroid backup first of your existing ROM!
Thank you, and enjoy!
Just a question - is there a Wiki page which lists all the shipped ROMs available for the Magic? I couldn't find any on my own. I only found the ones at the htc.com site.
...
Hi man, i just want to thank you for your kitchen, i dont know a answer to your question
but i want to reserve this post,
my plan is to make a short instruction on how to port a rom from hero, using your kitchen... (hope its ok with you)
not a full how to, but som guidence... cause i am still learning and still making many misstakes...
But i am gonna try to make my best.
I DONT HAVE TIME TO MAKE IT NOW... LATER.

That's a good idea, and that also gives me another idea for the kitchen.
Usually when we port a ROM from another device, we just replace the other device's boot.img-kernel with our own device's boot.img-kernel. Although there may be issues with driver incompatibility, this is the general way to get the ROM booting. (Also you have to make sure you use the correct base address when using mkbootimg)
Wow
sorry it's off topic but damn good to see dsixda over here on android. I remember your roms from my diamond and elfin. Now i think a nexus one is my next device if you're cooking for em lol. As for the kitchen i think this is an amazing idea to get some more chefs in the game.

Hey man, I remember you ;-) The kitchen is working for Nexus One. However, I'm not cooking ROMs this time because public ROMs are too much work when you want to satisfy hundreds of people at once The kitchen will take the load off the cooks and also provide an enjoyable learning experience for people who want to customize a ROM the way they like it. We already have someone who has made a public ROM from this kitchen, and hopefully there will be more!
I am still looking for the downloadable shipped rom. hopefully it would be found soon. i looked on the htc site but i guess i am still lost. but thanks again for something great.
Sounds like fun. I'll try it out on myTouch 1.2

If this can work for this phone there will be alot of happy people out there
thanks
Update 4/16 after several attempts with different shipped and custom roms i have finally gotten one to boot with touch input, which has been one of the biggest hurdles for this phone. Problem is niether of the roms i have will connect to T-Mobile or wifi. Any ideas?
Testing this out now to see what I come up with thanks for the link to the rom.

You can try this as well:
http://www.htc.com/www/support/magic.html
so with this one should be able to build roms from any rom to try make it work on your phone?

As long as they are Magic ROMs, then yes they should work.
ok so the base has to be magic for it to work, so in total it is to maske it easier to modify roms to your liking? no porting ect?

Yes you need a Magic ROM as your base. In theory it should work with any Magic ROM, but I'm not 100% familiar with all the variants of the HTC Magic so maybe there are incompatibilities?
I'll be working on porting ROMs later in the day.. I have to try the new porting scripts on my Hero first.
ok, i will give it a go when we can try porting a bit more fun working with android 2.1
i just noticed a problem with the T-Mobile myTouch 3G ROMs, as my script only looks for "HTC Magic" in the build.prop and not T-Mobile myTouch 3G... I'll get to fixing that soon. I'll check for "sapphire" instead, which is more generic.
Ok I have put up an update to the kitchen, version 0.24. This one should recognize all ROMs from all variants of the HTC Magic (e.g. T-Mobile myTouch 3G).
Also another option has been added, which will allow you to port a ROM from another Android device to your Magic (it will boot up but you may have to make some changes to get everything working properly, such as drivers). Has been tested on an HTC Hero.
