Hi all,
I have a problem with custom ROMs runing on my Magic (32B). When I tried many ROMs I have a problem with microphone when make a call. The sound transmited from my phone to another is really quiet, and effect is similar to VoIP calls. When I don't speak other person hear just silance without noice from background. I know thak gsm modules have some options to enable echo cancelation and tune audio quality. Whan I come back to my orginal rom sound is good again.
Does anyone have the same problem?
Device info:
RADIO-22.22.19.26I
PVT 32B ENG S-OFF G
CPLD-10
HBOOT-1.33.2004 (SAPP10000)
I ran into the same issue. The problem is with 3 files from the /system/etc folder. AudioPreProcess.csv, AudioPara4.csv, and AudioFilter.csv.
I uploaded the files I pulled from a stock Rogers build. They sound perfect and work on any ROM.
The link is:
http://www.mediafire.com/?nwxomlgymfy
To install:
adb remount
adb push AudioPreProcess.csv /system/etc
adb push AudioPara4.csv /system/etc
adb push AudioFilter.csv /system/etc
adb shell reboot
After that you will be all good to go.
Am using Cyanogen 4.0.1 and the sound quality on call is clear, had a few issues with some hero roms, but i think the non-hero roms are not that bad with voice call clarity.

Yes I extracted them from an absolutely stock Rogers Magic. Also, its not a matter of testing. I used these files on 2 different magics. Works perfectly.

Yes, I am using a MT3G. I also took those files from a 32A devices. They were also used on Hero and regular ROMs also.
Thank you so much, spyz88.
was having this problem with my custom rom, now its solved
someone please upload files again (maximum downloads reached)
Here's the files:

Didnt work for me
Just to be clear: these files are already present in all the recent Cyanogen roms (I don't know on the others). This fix is just OLD!

I had the microphone problem using the Cyanogen 4.04 rom. The file AudioPara4.csv was wrong. I replaced it with the one from the zip and it works for me now.
Andrei
If you want better sound there has been an update. Just use search and input increase audio. V7 is out.

Wow, that was a completely useless, unnecessary, and rude comment. Someone here is trying to help people that need it. If you aren't one of them, and you don't have a contribution, get lost.
can someone tell me how to do this in terminal....thx!
I can confirm this
I confirm this problem, not with one but with several roms, new ones as well.
My phone is a magic 32B from spanish vodafone, and I have had to do the patch myself EVERY TIME.
I have not tried Hero roms, so I can not talk about those. And yes, the cyanogen are also affected by the problem.
Now, someone correctme but I thought that the sound patch V7 was a package for getting louder OUTPUT volume on the speaker, not to correct the microphone.
The audio hack is based on dreamn audio files, just like cyanogen and the other dream ported to sapphire/magic.and the mic level is alwais so low.
So we can only fix manually the audio files every time....Cheers

First off thanks to justanothercrowd who i think is the author of this =p
for more info about the original rom for the dream look at this thread
I'm not the first person to get this to work, just saw that some people were getting it to work over here but it was kinda of multi -step so i decided to make it simpler.
First you will most likely need to flash your spl to this which you might already have done if you flashed your recovery.
changes i made:
added market enabler
apn list with lotz of apns
added Super Optimized Rosie from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532822 get your wallpapers from there..
remove better terminal, tether, and teeter
oh and ofcourse wlan.ko n stuff to get it to work on 32A
2.7.4r2 32A Download
2.7.4 32A Download //avoid this, i should probably take it off...
2.7.3 32A Download
i have ported cm's recovery for you guys to use it to partition your sdcard, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=539390 use it.
I wil try get updates ported as soon jachero gets updated if they work =D
and also thanks to AakashPatel and everyone else on irc that helped, first cook
Would appreciate much the version for 32b as well
Thanks a lot

I dont have a 32B magic but i went ahead and did the exact same thing to JACHero and just used the 32B boot.img from the hero rom for 32B
LINK LINK LINK
not sure if it will work or not, try it out and make sure you backup before anything...
will be waiting for feedback, if wifi doesnt work say so because that could be an easy fix even though i did replace the wlan.ko but i used the one from 32A not exactly sure if it makes a difference or not.
can I flash it with Stock SPL version?coz I can't stand on Magic-specified Hero rom with its speed. Hope some changes can appear...
Am downloading 32B now, will flash when it's done and report back.

Flashed this on 32B everything seems to be working except Wifi. Keeps saying unable to start WiFi
k4r1m can you change the WIFI please mate for the 32B version?
I don't want to flash if it's an easy change to make.
Pushed the wlan.ko from a working rom to the phone and wifi starts fine.
Looks very promising. All widgets present and still faster than previous cut-down hero roms.
Yes It's definetly faster then Fatal1tys ROM, possibly the fastest HERO ROM on magic so far!???
How can I get the WIFI to work mate? I don't understand how to do that 'pushing' stuff. I want to believe me.
1. Extract a working a wlan.ko from a working rom (should be in the update.zip or search on this forum).
2. Re-start phone is recovery mode (power and home).
3. Type the following commands (assume the wlan.ko file is in your working directory):
adb shell mount -a
adb push wlan.ko /system/lib/modules
adb shell reboot
n.b. assumes you have one of the custom recovery images installed. the adb command will work about half a minute to a minute after booting phone into recovery.

replacing the wlan.ko fixed the problem for me too. Thanks saquib
Ok so do I put the wlan.ko file into the update.zip file that's on my sd card, or do I find and overwrite the wlan.ko that's already on my computer..... then push that onto the card using the commands above?
Sorry for sounding dumb, just once i've got my head around it the first time then at least I can try and help others.
Ta, Roy.
You cannot replace the one in the zip file, as you will then need to re-sign the file. Replace the one on your phone.
Question is not dumb, always a first time for everything!

Hi folks i have Decompiled and looked at the code for the cube and have fixed the video FCs it now plays video
first you must have mVideoPlayer Installed free from market
and then im assuming you allready tried eugenes cube so you must have allready pushed the libs in the first thread
Download and unzip and push the CubeLauncher.apk into the Main APP / App_s pending rom build folder
Placing it in /data/app will cause it to not load...
i have signed the CubeLauncher.apk so it should work if you install it the usual way from memory card
http://www.4shared.com/file/213322447/ac0d83ab/CubeLauncherVideoFix.html
this is by no means my work i just fixed the video eugene373 is the man who gave us the cube so please support him on the very first thread

First Things First, This is not an update for any Rom.
A.
You Must Editing you own Rom's & Sign
or
B.
You Must ADB PUSH the Files in the Package to the same Location. This is assuming you Have everything in the /system Folder
To use, You must put the 3d cubelauncher in the Main APP / App_s pending rom build folder
Placing it in /data/app will cause it to not load...
/system/lib/cascades_plugins-3.5.4/libhoudini.so
is it's own folder & lib. You must Copy the Folder & Lib as well to /system/lib/cascades_plugins-3.5.4/libhoudini.so
Or it wont load, Also 10mb Ram Hack Kernel it Known to have 3D issue's
Now for What you Came For.....
Download Link:3dcubepackage.zip
Please Post if It don't work, but should be fine......
can someone sign it so I can install it
It's really nice, too bad it's too slow to be usable

Wesgarner Build Y. I'll try it again though
No, flipping through music and such is still slow. The cube isn't slow, just the actual usefulness of it is
Runs very slowly for me (~3-4fps), but I'm fairly certain that it's because I'm using the ramhack that steals memory from the GPU. Running Cyanogen 4.2.13 on a G1.
Great work though, it looks quite awesome!
Great!
Everythink is very fast! I'm on Cyanogen, you can't run this with the ram hack!
would love to see some screenshots if anyone can post. im interested in this, but running espresso right now, (too lazy to fight with compatibility)
Strange. wasn't able to run it yet. using manups 1.5 flan ROM.
keep getting FCs and logcat says unsatisfied link error cascade*jni-3.5.4, although i pushed the libraries to /system/lib....
Works well on amon_ra's ion rom. Sorta slow but its indexing so u never know, also it sucks cuz it opens stuff in the default player
Oh well, good job Eugene
Using Manup's 1.5, I'm getting a boot loop..
how can i push this using terminal???
Pushed CubeLauncher.apk to /system/app/ and the rest to /system/lib/ (remembering to create the dir).
But it doesn't show up as an option for a Launcher.

After seeing the sweet sweet multi-touch I went looking and found the droid x dump over on android central. Only issue is droid x dump is 2.1 and i just updated to 2.2 frf83. Can anyone repack or resign or do whatever magic needs to be done to get this out to work with froyo?
Its the LatinIME.apk in the app folder.
http://www.4shared.com/file/m8pSCMvI/droidx.html
[UPDATE 7-10]-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately Daneshm90 isnt able to work on the Froyo port of this keyboard. If anyone is interested in helping bring this to Froyo, it would be much appreciated, and im sure you'd prob grab a few bucks in donations too.
To make the thread easier to navigate I will be posting all new info on the keyboard here as it is posted throughout the thread. AND REMEMBER ALL GLORY GOES TO DANESHM90, THE ACTUAL DEV DOING THE WORK. THANKS DANESHM90!
DESCRIPTION:
The Droid X Keyboard features full multi-touch. This is different from the multi-touch currently enabled on 3rd party keyboards-the Droid X has the capability to hold down shift and press a letter to make a capital, ie it can do more than one key stoke at once like a physical keyboard. Pretty nice.
LINKS:
2.1 Eclair-based Roms:
only thing not working is auto-captilization,auto-correct errors. Dictionary works, NOW WITH VIBRATE!! Doesnt seem to work on HTC Hero GSM or CDMA...
http://www.mediafire.com/?lumzzhdjnij
2.2 Froyo-based Roms:
All thats not working on eclair + can't type anywhere it tries to suggest words, like the messaging body. Also voice doesnt work.
http://www.mediafire.com/?rmqzyo0ifzk
FUTURE FIXES:
• Froyo or Bust
INSTALLATION:
To install this app, you will need a file manager of your choice. Find the apk on your sd card with your file manager and install it. From there go to your system settings-->language and keyboard--> and make sure Multi-Touch Keyboard is checked. Go back to your home screen and find a text field. Long Press and hold until the pop-up menu appears, and select "input method". Choose Multi-touch keyboard. Thats it! To disable simply long press again, select input method and choose a different keyboard. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle
Screenshot of Droid X Keyboard by Andonnguyen. &Amp has been fixed in the apk, but not in this image.
================****UPDATE 8/13/10****
Ok all you multi-touch fanatics...invisiblek over on the incredible forum has ported this to work on a variety of roms, including CM6. Find instructions and DL the files here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753156
If you dont know ADB well, as I dont, you will be able to install this through Root Explorer, the excellent root only file manager. Basically to do this just DL the files, copy them to the appropriate places (LatinIME.apk goes in system/app, libjni_latinime.so goes in system/lib). Be careful as the .so file sometimes DL's as a .txt file, and needs to have both the extension and file name renamed to be correct before installing. It is also a great idea to rename your original LatinIME.apk to something like LatinIME.apk.bak, as well as the lib file, in case anything F's up. As a matter of fact it may even be a good idea to do a Nandroid BU, because you never know what might happen, and its prob been a while hasnt it...
Ok, so you copied them in the right places, now press and try to install your new LatinIME.apk. The first few times I tried to install this, it didnt work. However after remounting my /system as Read Only inside Root Explorer the install worked.
Thanks Invisiblek! Send this guy some donations if you can, we've been waiting for a long time on this one.
Mm, does the keyboard work on a Nexus One that's still running on 2.1, I wonder? Going to give it a try.
Here try this. Its working for me on cyan 5.0.8 on a 32a magic. I just removed the shared uid and resigned with testkeys.

Brilliant, you're a gem. Thank you. Works perfectly.
doesn't work with MCR r18 (FRF72). It installs but force closes once you try to select it.
Will try when MCR r19 (FRF83) hits but I doubt that will work either.
K can u gimme the log ? thnx
Also from ur current build can u gimme ur libjni_latinime.so which can be found under /system/lib/
not the most advanced user here... tell me what to do and I'll do it.
Ok you have adb working right ?
K go start -> cmd -> adb logcat
now leave that window open and try to open swype on ur phone. Then right click the log window click select all, then press enter. Paste in this thread wht u have.
As for the lib its just adb pull /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so <wherever on ur pc>
Cant do that right now... at work. I can when I get home in a few hours.

Just wondering cause I found where the sounds are stored, I'd rather have an iphone-ish type sound rather than the type writer sound I get now... anyone done such a thing?
If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say it's in /system/app/HTC_IME.apk . Before continuing, DO A NANDROID. Grab a copy of 7-zip, get the apk from your phone like this:
Code:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/HTC_IME.apk
Open the apk directly using 7-zip, go to res/raw/effect_tick.ogg, and replace that file with whatever you want by simply dragging and dropping it into 7-zip (must be named exactly the same and it must be ogg-formatted). I recommend rebooting into recovery to push it back to your phone:
Code:
go to the mounts menu in recovery and mount /system
adb push HTC_IME.apk /system/app/HTC_IME.apk
Done.
Yeah I found where they are located, I just wanted the file that sounded like an Iphone when typing. Anyone have that/know where to find it?
I have another app installed that has a sound for the keyboard that I want... Any idea where I could look to get that sound effect?
Well pull the app from /data/app/THE_APP_NAME.apk run APKTOOL on it. You actually dont even need to do that, just unzip it, snag the sound. I will probably be under a folder called asset/sounds or something to that effect. Rename the sound file to the matching one in HTC_IME.apk then drop it in (you may need to convert it so it is the right filetype).
You may have to resign HTC_IME, im not sure.

OK its force closing now so I guess I do have to resign, how is that done?
There are plenty of ways.
Create your own key
http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-sign-apk-zip-files/
Use an application
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=126517
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
I use this
{attached below}
It signs with a testkey, though you could replace with your own key.
I keep getting an error about java even though I have it installed...?
OK, I got it to sign, but its still force closing on me... any ideas?
Ok i just check my phone and I use a modified HTC_IME that is skinned. I was going to suggest using that one but when I went into options you can actually select what ever key noise you want (in ogg format).
Go here, create your keyboard, download it and then go into options to change the noises.
HTC_IME may have to be signed with the system (HTC) key since it runs under that uid.
Here is the modded ver.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663608
and a link to the kitchen. <- I suggest this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179
OK, that works, but the newest version I could get doesn't have multi touch... is that available or not?
I never noticed that! Post your sound and let me have a go at integrating it. I will see I can get it to do right.
sent from my Incredible
OK, great, here it is.... Let me know what you can do with it. If you can add that to the stock multi touch keyboard you will be a god in my eyes
Ok trying it now. Do you want that noise for all three actions?
EDIT:
I also need to know if you are deodexed or not. I tried it once and it fc'ed. I will attempt it again tonight.

Yeah that one sound for all actions is what I want. Also yes I am deodexed.

Why don't you guys just change the actual sound files used?
/system/media/audio/ui/
Then rename your sound file(s) used to replase the stock ones:
KeypressDelete.ogg
KeypressReturn.ogg
KeypressSpacebar.ogg
KeypressStandard.ogg
That is what I did months ago and it works fine.

Yeah I tried that, it doesn't work for me... What all did you do to get it to work? And you are referring to the STOCK HTC keyboard right?
Either of you guys come up with anything?
No one seemed to wanna help me so I had to figure this out myself
Started with the Europe RUU and patched the files from the OTA zip posted earlier today, rooted, the whole 9 yards.
What you get:
1.45.401.2 Android 2.3.4
disabled boot sound (I had to, sorry!)
rooted & busybox installed
odexed
unsecure boot.img
love
Deodexed version comes with all of the above plus:
busybox runparts support (init.d)
/data/app enabled
nano & bash shell
deodexed
extra love
Older kernels do not seem to work (2.3.3 ones), so you will have to stick with this stock kernel for now. I have a TMO US Sensation and everything seems to be working fine on my end (I AM running the new radio, btw).
Flash with CWM.
Note for odexed ROM!! - I mucked up the Settings.apk and included a wrong one. The correct files are in there but need to be renamed before you flash, or flash the file I linked below IMMEDIATELY after you flash the ROM (before rebooting). Deodexed version is unaffected. Sorry for the trouble!
Download Odexed -d40386a3258546ee1bd760588007d2bd
Odex Settings Flashable fix - flash immediately after
Downdload Deodexed - 71aeba2d1ae00813458b78bda5c188a0
Deodex Flashable Settings.apk fix - or just push this Settings.apk
Instructions for those not so sure which to download:
Download deodex version
Download Deodex Settings.apk flashable right below it
Place both on SD
reboot to recovery and make a nandroid backup
wipe dalvik cache (and data if you choose, I recommend doing so)
flash deodex
flash settings.apk fix
reboot
Nice one man, will be helpfull to many
yah now all will make a super mega uber fast .... rom
thanks for release, users who like all stock will be happy
Bug
(Do NOT Flash this ROM!) - FIXED
There is no Settings application!!!!!!!!
And in Menu also!!!
Am I missing something? What's so good about this. o_o
Good things ahead.
Great work. How did you apply the OTA patch "HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2-1.35.401.1" to "HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1" ?? Did you update your phone then backup and used that in the kitchen ?
Thanx
There is no settings app. Attempting to start settings from the status bar crashes the status bar process...
Nice :\
Flashed with CWM.

+1 Same prob.
It's unanimous. Settings are missing.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App. Waiting for my phone to restore.
Sorry fellas, was experimenting with one and forgot to get rid of it, you can run the following commands to get it back (it should be on your phone, I just renamed it, look at the zip ).
Open up your zip and delete Settings.apk in /system/app and rename Settings.apk.bak to Settings.apk and then rename Settings.odex.bak to Settings.odex then flash away.
Or the hard way:
Code:
roman$ adb remount
remount succeeded
roman$ adb shell
sh-3.2# cd /system/app
sh-3.2# rm Settings.apk
sh-3.2# mv Settings.apk.bak Settings.apk
sh-3.2# mv Settings.odex.bak Settings.odex
roman$ adb reboot recovery
**wipe dalvik cache in recovery**
reuploading a newer version.

Ripped the patch zip apart, took out any references to firmware, flashed the patch file upgrade.
In the firmware.zip were the boot.img & radio.imgs i flashed among other things I was way too scared to touch
So any "reviews" on 2.3.4, is battery life better? Anything new?
Also a question.
If I install this, would I be able to extract my backup rom of Anroid Revolution and take the apps out aswell as other things like contacts and just slap em on my SD card or in System/apps and have it all work again?

Just do a nandroid backup before, flash over, if you get no issues, great! If you start seeing issues, nandroid back, or do a /data wipe in recovery. But theoretically you should be able to.
Deodexed version is also up. flashed and seems to be working great.

I did it! Just flashed it over my old ROM and it worked like an update. Settings working, probably because old ones weren't overwritten. I'm gonna keep using it and report any problems.
Also I used root explorer to fix settings.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App. Phone is restored.
You sure it'll work ok?
I've got Android Revolution HD with No Sense (So all HTC Sense is removed)
Still safe to just flash over?
It worked for me. I flashed over training wheels.

Honestly no, but theoretically it SHOULD work. Do a nandroid, and then you have nothing to be scared of .

Since I have to re-flash I renamed the files within the zip. Let's see if it works
Also, is it safe to just remove a couple of files from the zip? I'm thinking about bloatware naturally...
It might be a silly question, but I've never messed with roms before
i dont like you and all but thanks.
