Hey guys just curious if there was a quick way to get the Hero Browser.apk and Mail.apk to run on Cupcake? I tried bundling the APK's in my update.zip and resigning but i got "browser.apk wrong digest"
I'm assuming these need to be properly ported or need some sort of support files? any help would be appreciated. These are really the only two parts of hero i like more than cupcake.

Also, how about the weather app. Is it port-able?
I read the web browser is tied up with the sense UI, so i think that might be a no go.
i beleive the only thing that is ported so far is the HTC music app, but i'm stilll a bit of a n00b, so maybe someone with more knowledge can confirm
Try taking more time to read and search this forum.. also.. ask yourself.. if it was as simple as replacing a few files.. don't you think all the custom roms woudl already have included these applications?

Decided to make a new thread that we can use to try to troubleshoot this thing.
So far we know that is runs perfectly on Legend Roms due to the OpenSense Plugin. So we need to port that over to the Sprint Rom. (darchstar)
I am 100% in on helping but don't have much skill in this area. So this is a "CALLING ALL DEVS" type of thing, lol.
Attached you will see are the .apks for FriendStream, including the widget. Let me know if there is anything specifically needed so I can upload for easier access for all.

Ok... so tried to do a quick fix type thing, but didn't work. I was copying over files from the legend rom to see if that would work. and no dice....
any insight would be appriciated... cause i'm stumped...
I don't plan on running a sprint rom again anytime soon, so i don't think i'll be working on a fix for this. But if you want, i will gladly help you out in your endeavors. could you please post a full logcat on pastebin.com of you getting the force close when you try to start friendstream on whatever rom youre running, and we can work from there.
Sounds good... now don't want to sound too dumb, but when i run the logcat i'm getting everything. how do i filter just friendstream?
you could probably pipeline and grep,
but no, don't just give me the friendstream bits. I want everything, it makes it easier on me.

Hello, my name is Leilany, I was hoping you would have a moment if possible to help me with a minor problem I created on my EVO.
After I rooted my phone I deleted the Friendstream app and now my phone will not stop syncing. I have tried to install the friendstream.apk using Astro and appinstaller and both say "application not installed". I have saved both the com.htc.friendstreamwidget.apk and the friendstream.apk to the root of my SD as well as under downloads and nothing seems to work. I am not sure how to move forward and it sounded like you maybe understood this issue reading through some of the advice you have given in the forums. I hope to hear from you soon, I would really appreciate the help. Thank you.

Did you try just reflashing the rom? Also might help to go to the EVO thread for help, a lot of differences in our two devices.
Friend Stream
I am using Galaxy S3 (I9300) Indian version & want to use Friend Stream of HTC, Can I use it, if Yes then how?

Anyone can point me to the work email APK from the HTC Incredible? Apparently it is much better than the MyTouch version which has been floating around for a while.

I happened to by looking around and saw this thread... I went into my system folder/apps on my incredible and saw 'mail.apk'
I renamed it and put it in a zip for you guys...
It can't be this easy...
Let me know if this works for you guys... I have the reverse issue, in fact I have been trying to install the old mail.apk on my incredible, because it tended to ignore the forced password entry that the exchange server I use makes me have.

Yeah... it is a system app, i figured as much. It is probably signed in some way.
Thanks for uploading. It did fail for me also. Anybody know how to work around this? It failed because of some system dependency in the HTC customizations in the framework?

Any help would be appreciated. I just cant figure out another way to handle location based GPS points without making a contact for a store...which would suck.

But...my guess to answer your question, is because its not open source, no one will post or link it.
I pulled the Browser.apk from my stock hero with Sense UI. I then pushed it to /syste/app/Browser.apk while running cm6. everything went great until I tried to install. Get 'did not install' message. Is there a way to make this work? any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't know if it's even posible A while back I tried (and failed) to push the Htc music apk to my g1 running cyanogen mod; turns out, it just was not possible as it was. Someone later cracked the app and posted it here on XDA. Also maybe you should post why you want the htc browser on your phone as maybe someone can suggest an alternative.
We'll if you read it says hero.. and I'm running cm6.. It's all there.. I want the sense browser because I like it and it has flash that works, unlike many I've tried. Plus it has an option to load pages as full html Instead of mobile.
Why don't you use Skyfire? It can run flash and has the option of HTML (desktop) vs mobile and you can install it off the market for free. Let me know if I am missing something.
I ran JellyWiz for a few days but there were a few things I needed that I couldn't get ( I Know due to the T Mobile Base.) I need the Verizon usage widget to work along with I was missing NFL Mobile... I know I read in the right thread (I have to post here since I have never posted on this site but am rather experienced with Android..) that you can possible change the build. prop to get the verizon apps available in the Play Store.... But my reason for all of this is I REALLY want to keyboard he used in this ROM.... (Stock Hybrid not custom.) I have searched the net high and low looking for what version it is... I tried to extract it from the ROM and installed it but it kept crashing... I am assuming because the build.prop was for 4.0.3 and I am wanting to run it with 4.0.4 Can someone point me in the direction of where to locate a working .APK for 4.0.4 or get me going in the right direction.... Like I said I can pull it from the ROM but am not sure what all I need to change in my ROM to make it work.... Thank YOU for any help..... I am going to go browse through this section and start answering some questions here so I can build my rep up and be able to inquire in a more appropriate location... Please ignore this... After further flashing I now see that it is all just the stock Samsung keyboard... It had been so long since I set up any emails on my rom that I noticed the "@" and ".com" buttons on JellyWiz and really wanted them on mine... I have them more or less already... The layout is a little different but when typing in an email address field it brings them up automatically..... I do feel very schmucky for this........
