Newly Rooted MT3G. Dream roms works perfectly except auto orientation - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Does anyone know how to turn that feature on? I found something in the settings, but it doesn't do auto landscape and back.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or i will be forced to ban you for 3 days or till you learn.
Thanks

[Q] Serendipity 6.2 problem

I flashed Serendipity 6.2 on my Captivate yesterday and I've noticed a problem. The backlight on my buttons at the bottom of the screen stay on all the time, the settings, home, back and info buttons. I cannot find a setting to turn off the backlights on them or a setting to say how long they stay on until they go off. It's draining my battery faster because of it. Has anyone else noticed this problem with Serendipity 6.2, or am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks in advance,
That is a feature in the ROM/Kernel, not a defect. If can be turned off/on in the recovery menu, or controlled via an app.

BLN (black light notification) is not supposed to stay on permanently.
but try booting into clockwork recovery > find BLN settings and disable.
give that a try.
OR it could be a problem with "keep the lights on" or whatever patch/method that rom uses to keep the lights on while touching screen.
also you get more help posting Questions in the Questions and Answer section... or more specifically the Serendipity Q&A thread
For the millionth time:
It's BLN.
It's not a bug.
It's not a problem.
It's not draining battery.
RTFM.

Thanks for the help guys.
Trusello, I'll keep that in mind on the Q&A thread.
MikeyMike, I'm a relative newbie to android and just got into modding my phone. I'm also new to the forum here and the bulk of information can be overwhelming. I'm still learning my way around to forum so please be patient with a new android user.
Thanks again for all your help.
In the future, most of the ROMs in here have a dedicated sticky in the Q&A subforum where questions like this should go.

GPS Wont turn off

I know this is in the wrong forum but you never get an answer in general, so im asking for help here please.
basically im after a way to force GPS to turn off, through terminal with root permissions or somthing to that effect as i cannot for the life of me get GPS to turn off!! i untick gps in settings menu, it unticks, i back out that screen and go back in and its still ticked for gps on. and the power widget doesnt even do anything when i press to turn off gps.
i know that a factory reset will probably sort it but ill do that as a last resort, i just wondered if there is a way to force it to turn off.
but linux commands i have no idea about as i imagine it could be done through terminal??
any answers are greatly appreciated, as you can imagine my battery is dying pretty rapidly now with minimal use

Have you tried using an app like the ones at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dinop.GpsOnOff&feature=search_result or https://market.android.com/details?id=zwt.android.gpsonoff&feature=search_result or there are more available by searching the Android Market if the above do not help.

Decreasing the WiFi sleep interval on ICS?

Back on Froyo and GB, you were able to add/edit the wifi_idle_ms string in order to change the value of how quickly the WiFi radio would go to sleep after the display turns off. However, modifying the same string (/datadata/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db in the secure table) under ICS doesn't appear to have the same effect. WiFi remains connected for the default 15 minutes even after the screen is turned off.
Is there any working fix for this?
Please don't create double post about the same issue.
My post in Q/A is a completely separate issue.
My post in SlimICS was to ask if anyone else had the same problem (if it's a known issue).
My post here is asking if anyone has an alternate method of achieving this.
But your condescension and insight is greatly appreciated
It is the same question.... Live with it!

Refer to your other thread. As b-eock said, do not double post. In addition, this thread is a question, which is properly placed in Q&A, not in General.

NFC tags

How many of you use NFC tags? I just got some and seems to be hit or miss if they work. Sometimes it will trigger and work, other times it opens the set-up screen, and sometimes it doesn't work at all unless I unlock the phone.
Thoughts, ideas?

using a case?
go to more settings and see if the ROM youre running has polling modes. I think that effecs when NFC works.
but do a search, theres a lengthy thread dedicated to NFC tags and their uses. might find info there
I watched the video here on setting them up, how they work and such, but was wondering what peoples true life experiences was with them. Currently running Hyperdrive and Darthstalker as my main 2 drivers. Current one does not show polling in the settings. It was just weird how sometimes it works great, then other times doesn't even register until I change something on the phone (like it is in sleep mode).
Thanks,
Glenn

Forum issue: Thread Display Mode

My settings are:
Thread Display Mode: Linear - Newest first.
When I post, I used to return to the newest post, i.e., the one I've just posted.
Now, I'm returning to the first page of the thread (and not even the 1st post, O.P., but to the first page).
Is there anything wrong in my settings? How can I turn back to the original behavior?
Did xda forum changed its behavior?
The issue is still there.
Nodoby seems to worry (even a minimum) about it... :crying:
