Anyone know of a good software application that will edit php, and other related internet files from my HTC HD Touch..
The software must be free, preferablely alot like microsoft expression web 3.. and not like notepad
I have a similiar question, so I am hijacking this thread. I am searching for a Crysis PPC version. It should look like the Crysis version on PC, not like those crappy doom and wolfenstein clones for ppc, ahhh and it should be free (couldnt be very difficult to port something like this to ppc)...

With Visual Studio.NET 2003 you can develop applications that use the .NET Compact Framework.
Further to the last response - these Compact Framework applications can be written in VB.Net (which is very similar to VB, though more verbose) *or* C# - there's no difference in the speed they run, which (for PC applications at least) is a hell of a lot faster than VB6 code.
The VS2k3 environment even contains a device emulator, or can run code *on the device* and allow you to set breakpoints & go to the line an error occurred on. There's also a Windows Mobile 2003 SDK available from Microsoft which adds a Windows Mobile 2003 emulator.
I would like to learn to program for PPC.
I am familiar with x86 assembly , and several RISC assembly langauages, while I understand it won't help me here, I also do know VB.
What language do you suggest I should learn, and what tools/compilator should I use ?

Visual Studio .NET is rather easy to use..
Your VB skills may come in handy..
There is allso the opportunity to use pure VB, but it isn't really any good..
The integration between development environment, emulator and device is awesome in VS.NET..
I personally use VS.NET 2003, with only VB.NET installed. Works for me..
The downside is that the applications require the .NET framework, and eat a little more memory than well written apps in other languages..
For absolute power and control; C++ as allways..

heard there also in an embedded visual studio vb
which let you do vb without being .net

Anyway, I was really looking for something lighter that the heavily overpriced and over-sised MS Visial Studio - but it seems that there are no better options
well there is a free c# compiler both a compiler which run on the pocketpc and one that is just a free windows c# compiler for windows but .net should be able to work on pocketpc's not matter what
and i also have a gcc compiler for pocketpc as in it run on the pocketpc
just about every compiler you can find which can compile arm code you can use to make programs for pda's using pocketpc2002 and 2003(SE)

Hi all,
I have just got my new HD2 and I'm keen to write a couple of apps for it. I have some limited experience with programming Processing, Java and wrote a little bit of C++ a few years ago. I have no experience at all with writing mobile apps so am after a few tips to get me up and going.
I understand its easiest to program through the .Net framework and I can bring up a template through visual basic 2008 for that. The apps I am keen to write will require access to the phones sensors, in particularly the g-sensor and accelerometer. Forums on the net tell me I need to download the SDK for the phone and use that to access all of the phones features. I have the following questions:
Where do I download the SDK for the HTC HD2? Some forums say you just use the standard HTC SDK, is this correct, are they talking about an android SDK and where can I get it from?
In using the SDK, do I simply import it as a package into my code and call up its functions? In which case is there documentation for it?
In case I get stuck, is there any good tutorials online anywhere for programming apps for windows phones?
Probably some very basic questions but they still tripped me up!

I believe that the common WM SDK does not give access to the G-Sensor and other HTC specific stuff. Some probably hacked G-Sensor information is available. It is not entirely correct but it does work on the HD2.

WM SDK's are mostly a collection of header files, import libs and samples. You include the header files you need in you own code, then you can use the functions they declare, and link with the appropriate libs.

The Android and Windows Phone ecosystems don't have too many code editors, and the ones they do have lack basic features like code folding, linting, and macros. I decided to do something about it, I decided to make Elemental, a powerful and open source code editor for Android and Windows Phone.
