Does anyone know if there's any way to get The hero Widgets (specifically the sms / email shortcuts with the unread count) to show on the standard android homescreen on a hero rom?

It's not possible
yeah, cheers for that, maybe if you'd read the post before feeling superior and jumping down my throat you'd have realised that that post is about displaying the hero widgets in a standard android rom, which isn't possible as they rely on the hero framework etc.
My question is about using the hero widgets on the standard android homescreen in a hero rom, which should / may be possible because the dependancies are there even though rosie isn't running.
Decist: Doubt it's possible. I remember reading somewhere that the Hero widgets require Rosie.
But they are still dependent on touchflo. No touchflo no Hero widgets as it right now.

okie dokie, I was hopeful that there was a shared dependancy or something that meant you could run the widgets without actually running the whole touchflo experience.
Cheers

Coming from winmo, i was fed up of coverups upon coverups hiding a OS with new versions of standard features and still having the native ones hidden in the background just to make it enjoyable....
Now.... since Android is completely open source, Is HTC's SenseUI a coverup only having the standard Android UI under the hood, or did HTC REWRITE the standard Android apps and replaced them with theirs????
From this i mean, is HTC's version of the Album, Music, Contacts, Browser etc. an add-on having the vanila versions hidden somewhere like they do with winmo and can be reverted to, or are they ACTUALLY the classic apps redone by HTC???
I really hope HTC rewrote the OS cuz it really works well together (somewhat of a HTC OS all together)

I believe Sense UI on Android is the same deal. Just an overlay with their own widgets.

It may be a dialer skin but the contacts and stuff are all part of the sense ui. Just like the WM version. There are different "layers" or levels of how deep you can go into the UI.

Hi all!
I'm just wondering if there in any way (soma CAB maybe) to put some icons-shortcuts (e.g. 3 or 4) to Home Tab in Manila 2.1.19202517?
I have this version of Manila cooked in EnergyROM so I have this big White Clock with weather, Call History and Calendar beneath. When one slide a finger up on the clock it gets minimalized to much smaller one at the top of the screen and there is plenty room under Calendar for e.g. shortcut to camera, browser, notes... whatever!
Is this possible to put some icons there. It would be... fantastic! I'm using HTC Touch Pro with again: Manila 2.1.19202517 cooked in EnergyROM Phoenix 2 (WM6.5).

Use Sense 2.5
There is a EnergyRom available which has Sense 2.5 included.
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580293
hope this helped.
Moved as not ROM Development.

Thanks man, but I did so many changes to my present software (I have loaded tons of CAB files so far) and personalized TP on my own way that doing it all again with another ROM is a little bit scary
After all You have to HR the phone after installing a new ROM and all Your data and personalization is lost, right?
Maybe simply there is a CAB to do what I want without changing absolutely everything?
Or is there a way to back up all my data and presets... installing a brand new ROM... and then restore my programs, personalization and all?
im looking for the same thing, i couldnt get 2.5 to work with MMS picture mail so i went back to 2.1 and i want the program shortcuts on the home tab also.. is there such a thing for 2.1?
Anyone? Nothing?
Someone is working on it but nothing yet
I'm embarrassed to have to post this, but I've looked everywhere and I'm lost...I have a TP2 through US Cellular (CDMA) and I just need to know what version of Sense UI I'm running. My ROM is stock 2.01.573.3 if that helps. I want to learn how to tweak things with a new ROM but I want to make sure I know where I'm at and what I'm doing before I start. What's the easiet way to know what UI i'm using? Thank in advance!
WM 6.5 sense 2.1
Thank you...one more question: One of the main things I want to do is add a few icons to my main homepage (under call history, where the calendar items are now). Can I do this with a theme or would that require a different ROM?
Different ROM. Requires sense 2.5. You can add a programs tab to your touchflo.

hello all im new to android, but not to modding. i am having a problem getting the htc evo calendar widget on my dell streak. i have the at&t streak with the 2.1 O2 rom, and im rooted. I have tried every calendar and widget available for android on and off the market and NONE not even pure grid com close to the HTC one. so my question is how can i get that HTC calendar widget onto my dell streak? if anyone is successful i would be willing to donate a lil something as a thank you.
I'm not sure if you are referring to the Sense UI calendar widget, but, the Sense widgets will only work on devices with the Sense UI. I may have understood incorrectly, but the Sense UI is apparently coded in such a way that it's hardware specific. it would have to come from a device with similar hardware to the device the particular version of sense came from.
In short, if you don't have Sense on the device in question, you can't run sense specific widgets.
If I'm wrong on any of this information, feel free to correct me. Still rather new to the world of androids.
You're right, Sense widgets only work on Sense ROMs. Although, someone in the Evo forums was working on separating the tight coupling Sense widgets have with Sense ROMs. Look for the Mik ROMs, he talks about being able to do it but last I heard, he hasn't been able to do it.
Hi everibody, so sorry to post a question where it's not allowed but the Q&A section for windows mobile doesn't exist anymore, so I didn't know where to post it.
I am an HD2 owner and for me it's simply perfect with windows mobile, the only thing is that in WM 6.5 and in sense 2.5 there are no smooth and fluid transitions. Don't know if I explained well what I mean. For example in Iphone, android or in any other new OS when I swipe left or right on the screen, the elements move gradually out of the screen and the new one enter gently. In Manila 2.5 no, there is a gap unless you use the manila . Is there a way to make this happen? The same thing when I press the start menu or when I turn the phone in landscape mode, or when I unlock it. I think that the lack of animated transitions make the OS look much older than it is.
Please, I'm asking a last effort to make this system awersome...
as you are using manila 2.5 the nearest to your request is Co0kie Home Tab 2.0. Then you can get in your home tab 7 screens to slide left & right, and 4 levels to slide up & down, and even put some widgets on it.
Other option is MaxSense, but never tried myself. I think you would need to flash a rom with Maxsense as is not provided as .cab
If you wish to try Co0kie 2.0 and need further help post question in the CHT thread.
Thank you for the reply =)
yeah, I'm actually using the HD2O rom with CHT and I noticed that there is the possibility to use widget in the home screen, but I was thinking of something more integrated in the system...for example I found WinStart (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935808): this is an app that replaces start menu and adds the kind of animations for windows I was looking for. Unfortunately I found this program a little too buggy (some icons disappear and many icon names are changed) and very slow I hope it could be possible to continue in this direction, because I think that the idea is good, but in my opinion it isn't developed properly (those animations could be integrated in a cooked rom probably) and have a similar program for Manila too. It would be simply wonderful.
Of course those are only my suggestions, but I know that nobody would develop any further for windows mobile something like this because this OS is considered dead, but I still love it more than any newer one.
I'm using an energy ROM with CHT & find it very fluid for all functions really & far more flexible than iphone & a lot better looking than Android & many functions less clicks to access.
For the hardware spec of the phone & slow official development WM was & actually still is very very good, if you look at layout of Android & compare it to WM6.5.3 you will see a lot of copying by cheeky Google ...
I need viber software for hd2 plz help me

Windows Mobile does have animated transitions, but they're generally disabled, as they're slow and ugly.
You can still get them back using the registry (I can find that for you), but you'll probably regret it.
BTW, as my much esteemed colleagues said already, HTC Sense and Co0kie's Home tabs extension prvide pretty nice animations and sliding screens already.
