Hello!
I'm experiencing some problems with the jog wheel. The up direction is too soft when touched, and it feels like its underlaying mechanism is misplaced. Every other directions make the clicking sound when pressed, but sometimes they're hard and unresponsive.
What can I do? is it difficult to open the case and fix it? Would it be worth to open it? what screwdriver should I use to reach this part?
Thanks a lot!
Same thing is happening to me but with the right key, anyone have any input please???!

You know what this happened to me recently as well. It's not completely broken....(have to press very hard) yet but its annoying as it was the most used dpad key, that could be the reason why its broken, o well one of those things i guess.
^^ Yeah mine was like that too!!
Need to get a replacement wheel, anyone know where from?
I got the same problem just a few month after purchased. Only up button working the rest do not respond. Sent to service center for replacement the jog, and its ok for a few months, the problem now start again... I already give-up. Jog wheel is poor in quality.... that what htc all about....

Hi.
It's starting pissing me off. I've paid over 600 euro for this phone, and those buttons are inresponsive. I have to press them like 10 times, to get them work!
I don't think it's software problem. For sure it's not T3D. Disabling T3D changens nothing.
This behaviour looks like my inresponsives bottom buttons in my Hermers with PCB keyboard malfunction.
Is there somone without this issue? Maybe only few devices have this defect? In this case maybe I should try to replapce this phone with new one?
Can some tell me, is there some diffrrence with custom roms?
I think it is the only defect that my HTC Rapahel doesn't have.
Are you sure you are clicking on the right spot? Because sometimes when Itry to click left or right I click instead the back or home (still have to get used to find it)
Well, I'm sure im doing this right way.
when you press a button it will make a little clicking sound and one would feel there is something pressed.. if it aint responding return it to RMA
so for the last few days ive been getting this weird problem, that when i press the call button to enter the dialer, instead of going to the dialer, if for example im on the program tab in tf3d, it will go to the settings tab, thus emulating a left click... it would be on or off this prob for a while, but now it seems every time i press the call button, it goes left. this is the same for the home button aswell goin left, also the end button and back button going right... up and down work fine, but im confused why this problem has arisen....
*as i was typing this, i jus tried again, and now i cant even go left or right, so the only buttons that are working are up, down and select...*
Any insight, maybe i need to remap them, maybe the hardware buttons are screwed... imma try a hard reset and let you know the results, any help is appreciated.
forgot to mention, im on NRGs latest phoenix rom....
I know normally that those buttons are pretty ridiculous. I mean trying to press left or right is pretty much like your praying that you get it since its almost 50/50 that youll hit the call or end buttons. I especially hate this when your in a program trying to go right and you end it by accident, but thats now im way off topic . Anyway, maybe it is possible that your buttons have become slightly misaligned, since thats all it would take for them to get screwed up. Although I have also experienced a similar problem to yours a while back, but it eventually ended. It COULD have something to do with the rom, but I find it highly unlikely, since theres tons of people using that rom. Do the buttons not register, or do they actually not click down? I was confused on this in your post.

thanks for you reply they click down, but do not register correctly, for exmaple, if i was to press the call button, it will click, but register it as a left click...
after peforming a hard reset, and not installin anything else on the rom, i was glad to find it was all working again, prompting me to believe it was something i installed, but after 10 minutes, the erratic behaviour started again.... strange!!! dishearted, i went to sleep last night and when i awoke this morning, its all good in the hood! the buttons are fine! but for it 2 happen without installing anything, im guessing i might have had a bad flash or something...

Possibly, but by the way your describing it, it sounds like very erratic behavior and may have something to do with the actual hardware. If it continues I would bring it in to your carrier and see if you can get it replaced or fixed.
I had this same problem. Had to get it replaced and the replacement works pretty much as well as when I first got my original FUZE. First replacement was complete crap (buttons were horrible, center button didn't click) but my second replacement is a bit better. You can see it wasn't put together as well as a new one though, the keyboard is a TINY bit to the left so you can see the backlight coming out from the right and the volume up button kind of sucks. Disappointed in these refurbs.
well its been behaving itself today... so touch wood it continues! i read somewhere that somebody was experiencing something similar and it just went away after a while...
we'll see!
my spacebar button always stuck. very hard to press....any solution?
Damn. My FUZE's DPAD is starting to act up again! My current FUZE is a refurbished replacement for my original which had this same issue. Putting the phone to sleep and turning it back on fixes the issue for a minute or so, and then it starts again. It can go a couple days without doing this and it starts again. I think this is how my first one started, only sometimes acting up but eventually it did it all the time.
Looks like it might be time to call for another replacement! I hope my 3rd replacement FUZE (first replacement's DPAD was DOA) will last until the Touch Pro 2. This capacitive surface was such a huge mistake for HTC. But instead of adding normal buttons or a trackball, they completely remove the DPAD from the Touch Pro 2 . At least there is no cheap capacitive surface that will break.
For me, both FUZEs started acting up after 4 months of having them. I am surprised barely anyone else is having this issue as I have had it twice now.
hey guuys i was recently playing around with my touch pro hardware buttons. and everything was fine accept foor the backspace button. it works but i have to push it in reall hard. and it gets very annoying at times.
has this happened to anybody else???
thanks in advance

poor us, Me too, I have problem with both spacebar and back button, it make me angry, I think it is hardware problem, but I have not bring my phone to phone fixing service yet
it's hardware issue, and it is easlily fixable, some of TP users in my town have confirmed it. hTC will fix this for free if you still have the waranty.
I'm having trouble with 'bspace', c,v,p,o,'.', and 'fn' myself, tried to fix it at hTC centre yesterday, but it was closed due to extended holiday,,,
backspace and space requires a hard press on mine too =(
anyone know how long you're without ur raph for if u send away to be fixed?
aaw kay. i live in melbourne. is there any htc repairs near there?? cause the now the arrow keys need a hard press and it gets REALLY annoying and frustrating.
thanks guys
Hi guys i dont know if its just me but does your back capacitive touch button have bad response? sometimes i have to hit it 2-3 times before it responds. every other capacitive touch button like home menu and search work very well with just one touch. Do i have a bad one?
Mine used to have a similar issue with the home button, but I ignored it, and it seems to have gone away. I doubt you have a bad button.
I thought briefly of exchanging mine but decided against it because in doing so, I'd increase the chance of actually getting a bad unit (as opposed to a normal one with the usual occasional glitches that cause doubt). I figured that if it didn't go away, I'd be covered by the warranty. Glad I went that route!

swt thnx for your reply.
Back button.
Intermittent and profoundly frustrating. I am thinking that this baby is going back.
Heya, i know this has info here and there but here's the deal:
The power button has gone soft lately, it was good but then it became really sensitive to touch "one touch to activate" which was cool, until it started pressing by itself, now when i click it to lock the screen it turns on again, and if i shake the phone or something it'll activate.
But now it goes on and off randomly, and sending me sometimes to the power screen i can even activate it by pressing against the body around the front camera.
any ideas what might be causing it (my guess it's a broken/displaced spring), and please if you have links/guides to fix the thing (teardown vids/whatever) i'll be most thankful ^^
i looked around but i want something specific to our device, thanks! <3

Hardware problem mate. Will need repair. Read about this sometime ago where a user had actually taken the DS apart and fixed a broken plastic lever under the power button that does it... but since the power button presses a switch directly mounted on the motherboard beneath, i'd suggest you refrain from doing this yourself unless you are fairly good with tinkering with electronic innards. I mean software is one thing to mess around with, but hardware has very hairy balls indeed!
P.S. Love the thread title!!
