No, 6.5 can not be installed by running a CAB but 6.5 can be installed by following instructions to install a "ROM". Just do a search of the forums here.
The reason you can not do it with a CAB is that the software has to be loaded when the operating system is not running so the file format must be acceptable to your phone's boot loader.

PIE 6.5 will not run on wm6.1 at all!

I can confirm that I wasn't able to run PIE for 6.5 on 6.1 ROM, but I don't know why? Maybe some of the developers could do this by modifying some parameters? Actually, PIE is the only thing that I really miss from 6.5 ROMs...

Hi, i have a HTC S710 from Telia, it's not locked though. How can i get Windows Mobile 6.1? Which ROM should i use? Have you had any problems with it before? Are there any disadvantages of WM 6.1?

Already there is lot of stuff on wm6.1, first search and then post.
Mods, pls delete this thread ASAP.
Just use the clean windows mobile 6,1 v1.1 by fireburned .it,s fast and clean .
If anyone has a copy of 6.5 that have had success with please post a download link.

The official 6.5 from Microsoft has not been released, so there wont be an official download link. But check out the rom development section and you can find several cooked roms with windows 6.5 cooked in....i personally recommend any rre roms....fast, stable, and great support in the thread!
there wont be official 6.5 rom for the fuze since it doesnt have a windows key
but ive been using 6.5 for about a month on it its great
the fuze does have a windows key on the keyboard.... it's the top left button on the keyboard... unless there is another windows key that I do not know about.

Have been given a HP514 must say I do like the phone and has convinced me to buy a WM phone in the future..

Thank you for your reply... Only one problem.... I don't read russian!!! So I don't know what the difference is between the wm6.1 on the site ond the update on hp site.. Also is the rom only in russain?

update on hp site is NOT WM 6.1, it`s only WM 6 update!! And the WM 6.1 is absolutely new version of windows mobile. The WM 6.1 rom is also in english.
Excuse me for me english, I meant WM 6.5 is now developing.

Actually I don`t now exactly about back up... You better copy all your data to PC.
The most news in WM 6.1 is CHome with its advantages
The rom is good-stable, not worst then WM 6

Well have download the file and update util from site but it will not let me update etc stating the following:
Code 203: Update is Incompatible
This version of the iPAQ update utility is incompatible with your iPAQ. Please obtain the correct updatev and try again.

My phone is as stated HP514 With WM6 ver 2.05.02 English rom(am from UK)
any ideas as to how to sort this prob out???

The project of WM 6.1 is commercial, so you must pay for the FULL rom 10$, BUT if you don`t need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you can use absolutely working LITE version. There are ONLY Wi-fi and BT non-working!

And THE MOST IMPORTANT NOTICE: Update your device only from 2.05 russian rom!!! Another way your phone will be broken!!!

You are wrong! If you think that in About wrote WM6 - it not mean you have updated WM6! This WM 6.5 has Titanium, new dialogs and menu, and it`s impossible to update WM6 to any other WM.

Try to flash the original wizard rom back, then follow the guides for flashing roms to flash 6.5 rom.

first you should have to know about ips and spl then upgrade new rom.
