So here is the situation. before i use wifi tethering, I can connect to my bome network. After i run the wifi router app, and turn it off, I can no longer connect to my home network. It finds the network fine. tried disabling router password too. It just continues to try to connect but never does. Only fix I can find for this is to perform a hard reset. I hate doing that.
Ok i had the same problem wifi already finds the network but cannot make connection and how much you trying its getting worse. I don't have my own network and hard reset didn't work. I think it happened because in the registry the phone cannot refresh the information that fast. Try to don't use wifi some time, few days that's worked for me and if someone knows what the problem is, help us!

same problem here. I´m using a vodafone-stock-rom. It has never been different.
But you do not need to go through a hard-reset. If you trigger wifi manually, everything will work again without problems (settings, more, connections, wlan). If you don not want to go this way, just start your phone again (soft reset) and everything will be fine too.
Ill try that. but a soft reset does not solve my issue

I told you, wait some time and don't try to connect more and more that's wrong
what i want
well let me describe what i want.
i am in hostel and my room don't get wifi signals but room next to me get upto medium i wanted to use my friends android phone and connect it to wifi and then use tethering to connect my phone to his.
What happened
when i connect to tethering it disconnected my friend's wifi and switched to mobile data.
can any one tell me any way to solve this problem
How can it be possible that your friend room next to yours is receving medium wifi signals and you aren't even receiving a single bar. Is your wall made of lead?
Anyways I don't get it. You can't use wifi and tether at same time.

Yes you can.
At least on linux, windows using connectify, and some android phones (unluckily a little minority of them).
good luck bro

It depends on WIFI drivers, for windows you have a list on connectify drivers, for linux usually the Atheros cards are the ones better supported.
Android is more complicate, too many brands, rom versions, Android apis and so on, but some phones hus allows to enable the WIFI hotspot w/o killing the wifi connection. No tricks needed.
Well I've just installed Purity Rom on my Nexus 5.
I notice that my signal is on about 2 stripes, which is really wierd! on my old SGS 2 it used
to be 5 all the time.
Also, my wifi signal is pretty low from the same room where the router is! something is really wierd.
My wifi downloads at about 25kb/s from the play store, which is wierd because it should get to about 2mb/s.
Should I switch Kernel/Modem? if so to which one/s?
thanks alot!
Try restarting the modem/router, and make sure it has the latest firmware.

Tried a couple of times and it has nothing to do with it. Downloading from my laptop reaches 2mb/s easily.
And its also the 3G signal that has problems, really not sure why.

I know it's counterintuitive, but the router apparently interacts differently depending on the device.
I only mentioned the router firmware upgrade because that's what fixed it for me.

That's what the upgrade fixed. Of course, yours could be weak for any number of reasons. Is it the same for other phones?

I mean the cellular signal, for calling and 3G network... And as I said, on my previous SGS2 the signal is always full and also wifi.
Something is wrong with my Modem/Kernel or something like that.

Try using the .17 radio instead of the .23. You have to be rooted to downgrade or flash the 4.4 factory image to test it.
Otherwise bars means nothing as long as you aren't dropping calls. Different phones display them differently. Look at About Phone - Status and see the actual dBms and see if they are similar. Some phones do -89 as 4 bars while some require -79 and higher to be 4 bars.

I'm not sure, but I really don't want to use 4.4...
Why is my WiFi signal weak aswell? it just works bad/not working at all at a medium range from the router...

I said 4.4 to test it. Testing is the only way you'll narrow down the variables. We can't always do all the work for you
Once you are on 4.4 then you can see how it works then and if not then jump back to 4.4.2 and then you test something else.
And I said about "bars" being meaningless for the most part as long as you aren't dropping connections. You said it works bad at medium range or not working at all? Meaning you can't connect and what's medium range? Medium might be 50ft or 200ft. I dunno how big your place is or what's your walls are made of.
Hello,
I just bought a Nexus 5 and fell in love with it. :victory:
But there is one big and annoying problem:
When I'm connected to my router and use Wifi I get a lot of Wifi drops and sometimes it won't work at all.
Switching to Airplane Mode or turning wifi off and back on again and all these standard solutiones. (flashing another baseband version, turning router off and back on)
Sometimes for 1 min it's perfect! But then it's back in this very annoying problem. (On every other device it's so fast like it's supposed to be)
Is somebody out there, who shares the same problem and maybe got the ultimate solution?
Greetings (sorry for my bad englisch)

change it to G and see if it fixes your issue. wireless downloads will be slower since the throughput will have changed.

I can change it?
Also in the router settings?
I think you can fix this problem by changing the channel your that your router uses or by connecting to a 5GHz ap(if possible) but this sort of does the same with the channel 'trick'.
Download an app like inSSIDER or similar, find out what channel is least used by surrounding routers and change the channel of your router to that one.
If you need help with this let me know.

Thanks for your tip! I changed the channel to 11, now it's working and hopefully it will also work in the future.
I'm writing if it's now solved or if the wifi drops come back.
Nope, didn't worked...
Still no Wifi on Nexus 5... God that's annoying

I had the exact same problem and after literally trying everything imaginable I tried several routers. The solution, change your router. I tried several and returned them until I settled on one. But never at the same store. Lol

Just bought a new router and it's working!!! [emoji9] Thank you all for your help!
I had the same issues with Linksys routers. Finally bought a netgear nighthawk and couldn't be happier. I can saturate my internet connection with the phone. And it outputs 1watt of power to each 5ghz and 2.4. So I get almost full signal on 5ghz on the other side of the house
Do you think Samsung will fix Bluetooth at some point- or shell I refund this phone? It's not connecting to 50% cars currently available on the street.
mine works in every car i own perfect
I, like many people, I would imagine, only own one car, but it works perfectly with mine both on it's own and in use with Android Auto.
no issues here at all with that.
not working with BMW 2007 and 2010
No issues with BT at all.
Working fine for me as well.
I would be looking at the cars, not the phone. The BT in this phone is top notch.
This is second S8+. And the question is do Samsung fix it? There is whole Internet posts about non working Bluetooth on S8+ so no car problem.

If it was phone problem, it would work in zero cars.
Just accept the cars in question are just not up to scratch or do not play nice with android. Car's fault.

That does not mean it works with every car and as I said there is a lot of proved cases that is not that great. And just to add I've had no problems with S3, S4, S5 and S7Edge, and this post is not competition that it is working or not because obviously it's not for me. I was hoping someone already got some info from Samsung about it.

What I'm saying is, it's not the PHONES fault. It would be the fault of your car/radio. If it was the phones fault it wouldn't work on anything. Just because your car uses old technology, or bad technology, doesn't mean it's the phones fault.
But I'm saying and provided a link, there are other thousands people with the same problem, so you still think it is just my car(s) problem? And phone is ok? And also no problems with previous galaxys?

Search for any phone in existance and you'll find a thousand people complaining about Bluetooth for said phone without them doing any real troubleshooting to try to narrow down possible factors. Sadly, its usually down to user error, an app or setting that's been altered unknowingly by the user or the fault of the device they're trying to connect to.
I don't believe there to be a widespread problem with the s8 at this point. If I see more evidence in the future I'm happy to concede and admit that there may be a problem but right now this is just the same rehashed complaint that you get with every device these days.

Can you connect to anything via bluetooth? If you can, it's not your phone. Pretty simple answer and how to get it. If you can't connect to ONE device, they might not be compatible, that's part of technology always changing. What kind of vehicle bluetooth are you trying to connect to? Exact make and model, of either the car with built in bluetooth, or the device if it's aftermarket.
