I hope someone can help me with this issue.
I have a HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) which is from Orange UK. It is running WM 6.1 1.19.61.1.
I have been attempting to flash the rom to a version of WM 6.5.
I have run the hardspl upgrade, then have tried to flash with a number of WM 6.5 (2 from Dutty, 1 from MIRI, and a few others).
The problems I get with ANY version of WM 6.5 are as follows:-
Firstly when it starts booting it has a graphics issue, it looks like the vga driver is not installed, but if you press the power button twice the vga looks ok!
Then when it has loaded WM 6.5 and Touchflo 3D it freezes quite a lot.
Also the phone cannot connect to any mobile network such as Orange UK, when you try to turn the phone radio on it does nothing! WIFI and BT etc work fine!
Also it randomly restarts!
When I flash the rom back to WM 6.1 1.19.61.1 the phone works perfectly again!
Is it not possible to flash my phone? Or can anyone advise me on a wm 6.5 rom that will work!
Any advise would be greatfully received.

Problem fixed
If anyone is interested I have got to the bottom of my problems with installing a cooked rom.
I followed a tutorial on flashing the blackstone on youtube which stated I should first install hardspl v1.14, well it seems this video was a bit out of date as when I read the notes on this site it stated I should first install hard spl 1.56 for cooked roms!
I did this and now my upgrades are working fine .
I now have wm 6.5 running ok on my blackstone.

It is a sticky on the blackstone forum and easily found, a quick look would have found this, but well done for finding your own way and getting it done
HTC Blackstone HardSPL problem
Hey guys !! I have a problem with my Touch HD!
I'm trying to flash it from WM 6.1 to WM 6.5.
When i start the HardSPL after 10 seconds the phone disconnects from my PC.
i tried a lot of times but does the same all the time.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Tried it quickly on my Moto q9h - no go, but it was worth a try! Looks like WM5 and 6 really are that different! And moto's and sammy's as well!
is there anything else that i need to download with it because when i run it.. it stay white....
doest work on my i600 wm6.1 v1.0. the home screen stays black after restarting my device.

I was quite frustrated when I installed WM6 on my device, and realized that the laxy b*&%# at Samsung did not take the time to include one of the best features of the i600 on their WM6 upgrade.
Now I feel complete.
Before you ask, the "About" screen on my i600 reads:
Windows Mobile 6 Standard
CE OS 5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1)
I just copied the cab file to my microSD card, and ran the installation.

Doesn't work on i607, can anyone give any suggestion. The cab file installs completely with this message at the end '....was designed for a previous version of windows....'

Yeah, it will only work on WM 5 and 6.0. Not tested on 6.1 / 6.5
I think because of the sliding panels etc, it wont work!

Just give it a try in my opinion i can say that WM6.1 is much faster and stable than WM5. Also changing to WM6.1 solved many bugs for me which i had in WM5 ROM. Like WiFi connection problems, GPS module Nokia LD-3W connection problems with GPS navigation software etc... if i could compare it to something similar it is like to change from Windows 98 to Windows XP

Like he said, the difference between 5.0 and 6.1 is immense. 6.1 boots faster, runs faster, doesnt require as much memory for programs, looks nicer, shoot...its just all around better.
The flashing process is not that hard, you just need to read, read,read the guides here for your particular phone, whether it is a G3 or a G4, and away you go! Ask here if you need any more help!

I just did CID unlock (HardSPL), and now choosing adequate WM6 ROM which I can use. I plan to put Slim Diamond 4, what do You think about it? Should be better than default O2 WM5 ROM, G4 safe, but we will see. I do not like TouchFLO It just disturbing me while I am using my XDA...

All of we Try lots of roms touchflo fre and enhanced... but it s a vicious thing hahahaha, jajaja just let your boring WM5 wizard revive with WM6.1!!!!!
I reflash my wizard G3 almost 3 times at month just to try some new features...

Basically it's very hard to find downloads that work on the O2 version, I've found a few cabs on here like Manillla 2 (weather and Youtube don't work like the Touch version) opera 9.5 beta, Total commander, Tom Tom 6 don't use Tom Tom 7 aka navigator as can only find one city map that works.
Tried various ROM's for Kaiser & TyTn II which all won't flash, the just tease me into thinking the process will complete (get to tri colour screen then error appears on PC when sync).
Only the offical wm6.1 from O2 has worked on my PDA
Can anyone point me in the right direction with stuff for a O2 Stellar model that's known to work.......cabs, TouchFlo, Cube etc

All the 6.5 ROM's on here will flash to any Kaiser (Tilt, TyTN 2, Stellar, whatever).
Sound's like you don't have Hard SPL. Follow mskip's tutorial for flashing and choose a 6.5 ROM to flash.
Most of the newer CAB's won't work on the old build that O2's 6.1 ROM update is based on. Try one of the latest cooked ROM's and then try again.

I installed WM 6.5 Ultimate for tytan II on my phone(kaiser), and I have very big problem with calling. I not hear callers in the speaker. when I press Camera I see black sreen or my Tytan II is reseting.
what I shoud do?

Welcome to forums
Perhaps your device has not enough RAM memory to run properly 6.5 with titanium, you can try disabling windows default in settings-today-items
Or try to reflash another ROM.

I did it. I installed WM 6.1 .... and nothing...
I think that when I was broking SID lock I install sometnig... (something older than I had)...
can You tell me what kind of Radio SPL and other things I need to this model?
About custom ROM of course. OK I know the first reaction to such question is that the question is stupid and "find out yourself" and such.
But I don't even have the device (I have HD2 and Touch Pro), I want to upgrade a colleague's Polaris because WM5 and our new Exchange 2010 don't fit very well.
So I don't have the time, our "prerequisites" are simple:
- WM6.1 and up.
- Manila (of any version) welcome.
- Stable and light.
Anybody can help?
If you are looking for WM6.1 then I recommend ROM in my signature. It comes without Manila. There is also a full flavor of this ROM with manila

use pcar's roms good stable and fast... also wm5? i swear this phone never came with that?!?!

WM5? I will explain. The touch cruise shipped with 6.0 upped to 6.1 then cooked to 6.5/6.5.x.
That was my point nothing really about it. Most likely a typo by you...
3LIT3 VIII Naked is probably the best choise. Everything what I tried worked without problem and soft-resets I did only extraordinarily.
Kostas' A- version is a stable WM6.5 rom, everything works very well.
