Here is a rooted build of the current Donut tree for the G1. The network does not work. Lots of things do not work. Don't post in this thread that things don't work. Things don't work. This is not something you want to run on your device.

I'll be sure and check out what packages have changed and if any can help BT work on our phones.
We're getting it close to booting. This ROM definitley would not have been a reality without the help of Cteneyk, PikkonX, Darchstar, and Toastcfh. hahahahaha. No secrets -- just wanted to know what steps he took to begin the process of making his ROM, I'm currently going to make my mine own as well, I've got some custom icons made, but I'd like to do more than that.

I'm working on it as fast as I can... I'll do my best to get that stuff working. OpenGL and WiFi are as good as done. Also SMS is all done, I'm still working on everything else.

Don't flash a ROM for a GSM device on your Sprint Hero. You need to know:
What kernel
What network services and hardware support tries to load at boot
What radio file it has.
If you've already verified all this nevermind
If you haven't, make sure you have Asurion on your Hero.

I think porting rom for this device is not so easy because of AB slots & many different permissions
