Can't get rid of voicemail notification on Orange - Touch Cruise General

Hello!
I've recently bought a second hand O2 XDA Orbit 2 and am using it with my Orange SIM. Up to now I haven't had any problems as the phone is unlocked.
I've just had a voicemail message which I listened to and deleted, but I still have the notification on my phone. I've tried everything to get rid of it: rebooted, gone back into voicemail but nothing helps.
I had the standard O2 WM6.0 installed and I've just upgraded to the standard O2 WM6.1 version. The voicemail notification is still there which seems to imply Orange are still sending the notification to the phone. Does that make sense?
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?
TIA

Install HushSMS and send an MWI Disable message to your own phone

Thanks for the advice. I have looked at the HushSMS application and think I know what it is doing!
Does MWI Disable just remove that one instance of the voicemail notification or will it stop all further notifications?
I've also thought I should check if the notification appears if I put the SIM in another phone. If it does then the problem is with Orange and not the phone.
I'll let you know how I get on.

I put my SIM in an old Nokia and this said I still had a voicemail, so it was Orange that was incorrectly telling me I had a voicemail. So I left another voicemail for myself and then deleted it. The notification went away.
So no problem with the phone. Lets hope it doesn't happen again!

This is a same issue in Telcel Mexico. It seems that the format of the message that is sent to delete the MWI (Message Waiting Icon) is not standard, so windows mobile does not recognize it and display it as an empty message.
I also use Hush SMS and it works fine, but remember first to listen and delete your voice mail and then delete the MWI... If you delete the MWI without deleting the VoiceMail.. it will still live in the server and next time it registers in a different phone the MWI will appear.
So far, the solution of Hush SMS has worked fine for me. Of course I also told the people close to me not to leave me a Voicemail and preferably send an SMS.

JM

Sms not working?

Hi all...
I was wondering if people more experienced could help me with a strange problem.
I can't seem to send or receive sms'es. When I send an sms, nothing happens, and the message just sits there in the "Outbox".
When I send an sms to myself (from another phone), the phone WAKES UP, but no message shows up. So obviously the phone is receiving the message but it's not showing up? Maybe it's being blocked somewhere?
I've checked my settings, sms is set to send via GSM and the service center number is correct.
Also to confirm - I've tried hard-reset and the phone received sms'es fine.
But as soon as I reload my backup, it no longer receives/shows the sms'es being received. So something is block the sms from showing up. What program/setting would it be?
After installing slick, palringo, taptapsms, incoming sms not stored
I noticed the day after installing IM client, named slick, palringo and opening tapsms, i cant see my incoming sms after it comes..
it shows the notification 1 message unread, after i open it, i just see the history of sms of the same sender got bold, but only with old message, theres no new sms.. ( cant find the new received sms )
I've reset the phone, unplug the battery, its still the same..
anyone have a clue ?
I used WM 6.1 on my XDA IIs
Thanks.

Remove voice mail notification

I have changed sim cards on Touch Pro. Now I am getting a New Voice mail notification and when I dial my Voice Mail, it says I don't have any new voice messages. But still I get this New voice message notification. Can any one please tell me how to get rid of this.
Thanks a lot in advance.
any one has the solution?
Put the old sim back in, and clear the voicemail. If you can't do that, try leaving yourself a voicemail, and see if the notification clears when you delete it.

Will give it a try.
I have this problem too, left 2 voice mails on my phone, both which didn't clear the notice on manilla.
You could download Hush SMS:
http://www.silentservices.de/HushSMS.html
This can send (and remove) the message waiting indicator icon to your own phone and other people's phones. It works on my phone very nicely...
I had this happen to me the other day. Just call or have someone call and leave a voice mail, when you log into your voice mail, just delete it and it should reset it the rogue voicemail too.

Hello,
I faced this same problem for several time until I found this solution with HushSMS.
this is what i did...
- Put my own number in message recipient field
- Select Send, in the pop up menu select Send MWI/Voice/Deactivate
According to my experience, the Voice Mail Indicator is stored in the SIM Card when there is a Voice Mail VM in the Voice Mail Center. When VM is listened and deleted from VMC, VMC sends a "different SMS" telling the handset to delete VMI from the simcard. The problem comes when the handset do not understand this "Different SMS"... and apears as a strange SMS, as an empty SMS... but in any case, it does not delete the VMI.
The quick solution before was to take the SIM card and put it on another phone to delete it, but now with HushSMS I finally could delete this message.
Regards,
JM
Thanks guys

Thanks, sending an MWI message with HushSMS did the trick!

Fuze Can't Send or Receive SMS!!

Hey Guys, first time posting...
My Fuze has been great, except when it comes to sending and receiving sms messages... I can't!!... and if I go Start/Messages none of my original text messages from my Sim are there.
It makes me think that the phone and sim card aren't communicating properly?... although I can receive and make calls... could it be something that needs to be changed in the registry? I have installed PHM Registry Editor but don't know what I need to change.
Also, I have TouchFlo on the phone and when I slide the menu tab to messages, I can see new messages that I have received (yes that's right, I receive msg's through touchflo, but no other way!), and they are stored on my phone and not my SIM! AND it doesn't notify me when a new msg comes in which is very annoying!! And the same problem... I can't send messages
So in summary, I think the texting side of the phone it not correctly setup and needs to communicate with my SIM card.. I assume it is a registry change that needs to be made?
Please help...
Thanks, Seireon

I have the same problem and emailed ATT, their response was that if the SIM that I have is 3G it should work fine on the phone. I need to call tech support with ATT to see if they can troubleshoot, as I will not exchange the phone due to some investments in it already like invisble barrier. If there is a issue with the SIM that I should be aware of please continue this thread as I know that there are many in the same hole. Thank you.
more info
Spoke with ATT CS the sim card has to be matched to your phone in order for it to work properly, I can send and receive mms and sms messages now.
ok same problem again sms, stopped working,
new developments I have been able to figure out that the problem is associated with the media net connection. once media net has established a connection, sms stops working. I have been unable to send multimedia messages, what I will try next is to try by flashing another ATT/Cingular ROM to see if the issue disappears, if it does then is a software issue, if it does not disappears then is a hardware issue and I'll have to change the phone for another.
I'll post in a few hours.
Í've been having the same problem with my phones. Every 3-4 weeks I will lose the ability to sms. I go to att online chat support and they reset my phone. I believe it is related to att's account systems because it happened once before I got the fuze and it occurs on every phone on my account. Ít's getting to be a hassle to swap my sim into my "dumb phone" to call att for a resolution. I might have to get the pda plan so I can gripe about it more.
Ok I have PDA plan.
Flashed the following ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466219
Everything is working like a charm. I opted to flash that custom ROM because of its great reviews and apparent lack of issues. I'm still testing it, but so far is all good. I'll update if issues regarding this thread come to light. Thank you.
Having the same problem
Same problem here, although I can send text messages, my picture messages are hit and miss (miss in the beginning). ATT had me go in get another SIM card and do a hard reset... this kind of fixed it... now I can send/recieve sometimes.
I'm interested in hearing if the new ROM fixed this in the long run (not just for the first few days).
Hey,
got the same problem aswell now!
Flashed the same ROM, and now I can't send any SMS anymore. Before the flash I was able to (flashed from stock)
Would love to hear if you got it work! I'd like to know the solution!
Thank you

4 days of testing and still working perfectly, if you have issues with sms, or voice mail, please check that you have the right numbers on the Voice Mail and Text Messages services, at
Phone, Options, Services. For Att in US they should be the following:
Text Messages Service Center: 13123149810
Voice Mail: ""write your account cell phone number""
Hope this helps. Thanks.
i had this problem when i first got my fuze.. sometimes the touchflo messes up when installing and a hard reset solved my problem..
Update, no problems so far everything is working like a charm. Thanks.
still have that same problem
i lost the ability to send or receive sms after i flashed my phone for the second time.
first time from stock, did rre fuze 4.5 special edition.. sms worked like a champ.
second time changed to romeos and things stopped working for sms altogether. weird thing is i can do that whole call "get numbers used" in my contacts, and it will text me how many minutes i have.
i cannot send nor receive any messages. iam getting frustrated with this because no one really seems to have an issue.
i just did two hard resets, flashed to rre fuze 4.5 special edition, and still cannot get anything to work.
i read somewhere that turning 3g off worked. it did not.
my voice mail and text message service reads as follows
text messages service center: +1 (312) 314-9810
is it supposed to read like that or what?
please advise.
Problem
I'm having the same problem with SMS, I can't send or recieve any pictures, audio files through messages, nor can I recieve or send bluetooth files once connected to another phone via bluetooth, does anyone have a answer to that?
btw I have flashed my phone at least 4 times. different rom versions until i found one i liked. Now i am barely noticing I can't sms

SMS "stuck" in outbox - Windows mobile 6.1

Hi,
Today I found an SMS message stuck in the outbox on my "HTC touch pro", (O2 network).
The message was resending itself regularly, (upsetting the recipient obviously).
I was unable to just delete the message from the outbox and found that it only dissappeared after deleting it from the deleted items folder.
Is this a common problem - has anyone found a way of stopping this happening.
I've only been using this phone for about 1 month but this has not happened previously.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.
Can anyone help with this one??????
PLEEEEEASE!!!!
Never seen this before. Are you using the stock ROM?
Yep- everything as purchased.
No tweaks or upgrades.

Strange problem.
What (precise) ROM & WWE version does your touch pro run?
Does it show multiple copies of the same textmessage in "sent items"?
did the message contain other than simple text?
Like #34 or #*34 and alike sort of formating (34 used as example for any range of numbers)
What I could think of is that the cell provider or phone has some kind of error in which the text sending wasn't completed eg. the cell tower didn't send/ the phone didn't receive the propper "message sent" signal, and the phone simply resend the message.
Did it happen with only one receipient?
Hi,
ROM version is 1.90.206.4 WWE
Text msg was straight forward text - no numbers/characters.
Error only occured to one recipient.
Only one copy of the msg was held in the outbox.
Cheers

I would say it was a fluke, never heard of this before, and I really think it has to do with cell<->phone communication.
Keep us posted if it happens again.

Hi,
I've got exectly the same problem, however the thing I discovered is that my text messages stay in the outbox when I have the regulare GSM netwerkcoverage, as soon as I've got 3G or HSPDA receive they are being transferred, my textmessage settings however say they have to be transfered by GSM.
I've got a SE X1 on stock WINMO 6.1 build 19608.1.2.60
Nobody formiliare with this problem? (excue me for my bad English)
Me too. Can't edit the message, can't delete it, can't move it. Keeps sending to the same recipient everytime I open messaging. I've pulled the battery, no change
WM 6.1 pro
CE OS 5.2.19214 Build 19214.1.0.4
ATT tilt (HTC 8925)
Bad form to reply to my own message, but found a tolerable fix
I did a MENU TOOLS Clear Messages
And the second time it got rid of it.
First time hung for several minutes, second time that was the only message left to delete.
This happened to me too today, I was chatting with a friend and she was like why the hell do you keep sending the same message over and over again.
I restarted the phone and no change then I looked in the outbox it is there cant delete cant edit cant move.
However the message is in the deleted items too.
if its not just click delete in the outbox then go to the deleted items and click delete from there it will be gone.
The message somehow links it to both folders like a shadow copy.
Simply that process fixed it.
--------
PS : I was using Wm 6.5 and threaded texting.
Same Issue
Yeah mine are just sitting in Outbox too. I can reply to a message without an issue but when I compose a new message it just goes to the outbox and there isn't a way to send it. Just simple text so no clue why. Any advice?

Visual Voicemail Text Message

I installed DC 2.0 vr02 (Android 2.1). My voicemail came to the device just fine. But I also get a text message. How the heck do I turn off that text message?
This didnt happen when I had the stock Sprint ROM.
Updated with confirmed workaround/solutions:
Two different issues with two different fixes:
1) Get a text message notifying I have a Voicemail
Cause: Handcent does not recognize new VVM Notification method of Android 2.1.
Solution: Uninstall Handcent and use the stock text app. Continue to use stock (or ChompSMS, whatever rock's your boat) until Handcent figures it out. (thanks to Tikerz)
2) Voicemail no longer downloads to the Voicemail app
Cause: This is likely because you called the phone number that showed up in the text and activated "Voice SMS Messaging". This causes your phone to be linked to that system instead of VVM app on your phone.
Solution: Two confirmed fixes, you can do either one:
a) Factory reset. Settings -> Privacy-> Factory Reset. It will reconfigure your VM, you'll have to do greeting and all that stuff again.
b) Clear Data under Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> Voicemail (Thanks funcrusher, post 33) <--- This method is probably less messy
FIXES (thanks to Tikerz and CEspallait)
1. Ruu for total fix
2. Uninstall Handcent and go through stock messaging to just stop receiving texts
(Any other tips would be appreciated)
Maybe a dumb question, but do you have Google voice still grabbing your Voicemail and it is sending you the SMS?

No the thing is that, I've never used GV for Visual voicemail. I verified my GV account and found no trace of texts going out to my phone. So it's not linked to GV for sure.
I remember some weird setup when I installed DC 2.0 r1. I saw some text messages giong out for registering something. Dont recall.

pipskicks I understand the blacklist part. But I didnt have to do this before with the stock ROM. Is maybe Handcent not equipped to handle visual voicemail notifications on 2.1? That's the only conclusion I can make. Because with the Stock Sprint 1.5 Rom, I didnt have to black list anyone and visual voicemail worked.
I am with you, I started having this same problem after installing this very same rom. Would love to know how to fix.
My understanding with VVM is when set up the default is to send you a text when you have voice mail.
If ur using sprint voicemail, then the issue is not with youmail.com
doesn't matter what message appU run, youmail was problee set up and you need to log in on their web site and delete/uncheck!
Thanks,
Bubba.
I had the same issue when I set mine up. you probably got a couple of SMS messages from android or some 4 digit number about the voicemails. In one of the messages, there will be a phone number (not yours or the one that left the message. Mine was 408 number). If you call that number, that will be a Sprint Voice Mail setup for SMS handsets. Press option 1 and it should turn off the SMS notifications about voicemails.

As of right now the only fix I've found is to actually use GV to get your vvm. Unless this option he posted works. Because I also don't want to blacklist every person in my contacts list that ever leaves me a vm. Because I think it will also blacklist them from sending regular MMS messages too.

The way I fixed mine was by doing the ruu. I reset the phone then setup visual voicemail. After that I rerooted and it worked fine.
The reason this happens is because you told sprint's voicemail service that you have a phone that doesn't support visual voicemail. This happens when you pressed 1, I tried calling again to see if there is a setting to change, but no luck. By resetting the phone you are telling the voicemail service that you "got" a new phone, so it allows you to setup the visual voicemail again.
Hope this helps...

it helps, but sounds like a pain to do, considering not all RUU's end up successfully.
Did visual voicemail work with 3rd party SMS programs on the stock Hero?
I went back to the stock SMS program because it ignores the SMS voice texts like it should and triggers the voicemail program to download and notify me. It works fine as long you're using the stock Messaging app.

I get texts into the stock program as well.
I think this does not have to do with any of your sms programs, but rather has to do with the workarounds done with the Eris ports.
Ruu might be the only way, I'm also hesitant to do that...

I'm not too savvy. But when you say reflash RUU, are you talking about reflashing the original Sprint Rom or can I just reflash DC2.0?
I restored my nandroid backup of 1.5(Sprint ROM rooted). But, I still just get the text message from the damn sms voicemail system. Somehow my phone is registered to this service. Dont know how to unassociate it from it.
Would rooting cause this problem?
Any other suggestions?
