Hello guys... I would like to ask a testing software for windows mobile... So... something that can test the internal speakers, microphone, touchscreen, qwerty keyboard, etc... Do you guys know if there is such software?
Individual devices have their own field test modes and software. You'll have to ask around for your specific device.
(It would help if you had device info in your signature.)

Hi,
I want to clarify some concerns:
First of about the OS, the XDA or QTEK 2020 or i-Mate runs on Windows Mobile OS, is it possible to have any other OS like Linux installed on the PDA without much change in the hardware?
Also I'd like to know on the OS level (particularly for upgrading) what things should I actually take into consideration?
Second of about the software, this is connected to my first concern since I want to confirm that any software created for the particular processor/chipset should work without problems. How about software for system tweaks? (eg. registry hacks, or battery meters)
Lastly, the PDAs available have excellent features and functionality, which suits for most segments of the people. I would like to know can a PDA function for only a specific usage. For e.g. I would not require the emails, browser running, word processor etc, instead would have only my Inventory Control System running which is linked to an server and update the info from the PDA with the server thru’ IrDA, Serial Communication or internet. Can I develop applications that can customize the functionality and functioning of the PDA per my customization?
Also I’d like to know where would I find a generic PDA like HTC’s Himalaya on which I can built my applications and make customization? As I have come across, the PDAs available are branded product like T-mobile or QTEK or i-Mate, where could I find the contact of HTC or any other similar designer and manufacturers? If someone can point me in the right direction (whether it be websites, sections, or other posts) regarding these issues, will be much obliged

Hi Wizkidz, Magician Junkies, HTC Hacking Staff, and all!
Is there possible to put Linux OS to the Magician? If so, I can do it in the same way like BA? I want to try it, but I'm not sure it is possible, and if it is, will it be stable?
Waiting for replies....

Thanks for the link.
I've already saw it somewhere, but I'm not sure that is possible on Magician. You know that a lot of PDAs supports WM5 but Magician isn't. So I think it is possible on some devices, but not sure on Magician.
Any experiences?
I don't know about those guys, but I've found a "good try":

If you follow that, it boots graphical GPE and you have access to a number of applications.
The touchscreen works, but the whole thing is quite unstable on my pda - the apps keep crashing on launch - and AFAIK there is absolutely no support for phone capabilities. The sound driver is also gone. Bluetooth seems to work out of the box.
But as I said, it looks like a nice try, with a lot of potencial.
Hello,
Is there a way to turn these mobile devices into a bluetooth keyboard/mouse?
I am aware of the gremote porject at http://gbmsoftware.com/ but am looking for a more generic way to turn the mobile device into a remote keyboard and mouse.
A generic solution would be ideal because it could be used with any system (not just PCs) including PS3s, PCs, Macs, Linux, etc.
If something like this doesn't exist, what would be involved in creating it? Would one have to write a bluetooth driver?
I am a developer but have never written a driver or written anything related to bluetooth. If someone can point me in the right direction I may be able to write this thing myself.
Ever any luck with this?
My Frenemy has found an app that does this with WIFI - but your point about universality strikes me as important. Not having to install a server app allows this to work on any platform. I wonder why no answers or other posts.
The EVO 4G would make a SICK remote bluetooth keyboard and mouse...
Thanks...
Frank

Nobody really got back to me and I've since moved on to WebOS. I still think it would be great little tool!

Wondering the same thing

Hello friends,
Am a newbie here. I bought dis phone (s710) few days back. I liked it very much. Now, as am new in using windows mobile platform, got small small doubts. I thought that all windows mobile can be called as pda's. But why this phone still comes under smartphone. And what is this VOX stands for. Is it S710, or a pseudo name. Sorry guys, am asking soo much, ryt..:x
And i was using a nokia java phone, and it has got cell info display (the network operator tower location, nearest place). Can i get it in on this... Now only the network operators name is there. And this 128MB ROM means the internal memory itslf ryt?
And, i saw about flashing the rom, many threads here. Is there anyway to back up the current one on my phone? Now its windows mobile 6 standard. I saw so many cool edits of wm here wid so many addon plugins etc. I would like to try it. but if something wrong happens in between...(thats y asked about back up of current rom, and restoring it...? is dis pakka rubbish que!! )
Sorry friends, got a lot of doubts regarding...No one, please don get irritated, ok...
Regards all..
Thank you for your kind patience.
1) Vox is in smartphone category because it doesn't have touch screen.
2) HTC give their phones names. Therefore Vox. And its model number is S710.
3) About cell info, backuping, flashing and other, you should search this forums and wiki. You will find plenty answers.
Thank you.... @ torrentonly

Hi all,
does anybody know a good free timekeeping software for Windows Mobile?
I just need the functionality that I press "Start" in the morning, and "Stop" in the evening after I have finished working. The software should be able to give some Excel-readable output for further calculations. And it would be good if more than one "account" could exist so that different tasks can be time measured (not at the same time...).
Thanks from The Whistler!
Moved as not software release.
