Ok guys, so WM6 on Tornado exists (currently running on my device as we speak). But there are quite a few things we need to sort out before it can be released 'En Masse' Before this time I will ignore ALL PMs asking for the ROM.
There is a WM6 comments/suggestion/speculation thread HERE. Feel free to put in requests for embedded apps etc, but please realise we won't be able to put in EVERYTHING. So when the ROM is at a more completed stage we will draw up a shortlist for the apps etc to be embedded and let you vote it out
Current Issues:
Still has identifying build numbers etc to my source
Doesn't sync at all with a PC but will sync over exchange
It says WM5 with MSFP when its really WM6 (OS 5.2.xxx)
No Camera
No MMS
Issues fixed:
Wifi not accessable - new comm manager
No Office (fixed with a cab)
No t9 - updated to xT9 with 14 languages (fixed with a cab)
WLM is still beta and so needs removing and then updating (fixed with WLM RTM cab)
Things we need from a Tornado WM5 ROM
Camera.exe with all the mui extensions
Lets keep this thread clean, ok? I don't want sh!t loads of n00bs saying "where can I download ROM?". So, before you ask, here's my answer. YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD IT UNTIL ITS FINISHED!!!!
If a mod could remove such posts i'd be forever grateful
Please only post if you have information regarding how to fix the issues I've outlined above.

So... i am Alex from ronswens forum. i promise to fix that if you give me the rom and you can contact me via ICQ .. we need at least 3 tests - first, we upgrade xip, then new os build and then fix the camera...
T9 now fixed, office added, WLM fixed

I think this is the sort of n00b-ish comment jm012a9749's trying to avoid in this thread.
I mean, honestly, do you think he believes he's the only one to have attained a tornado version? Come on...
Look, this guy is aware of Duke's efforts, heck we all are, but the more people who get involved, the more efficiently we can get a polished product. There's no guarantee that Duke nor jm012a9749 will be able to do anything, so why should any of us sit back and not get involved? Besides, Duke himself has mentioned that he needs help since he's not an experienced Rom cooker.
Sorry for the rant here, but this sort of attitude really bothers me. Saying "oh, someone's already doing that, sit back and don't waste your time" is why certain projects never see the light of day...
Please only post helpful information or questions!
you can fix activesync by replacing the usbfn.dll file.

as usual, ronswens.jconserv.net. as for active sync, i remember those early builds missed actsync.dll.. but better give me the rom, i will use build 17xxx from excalibur and drivers, camera, t9 etc from wm5

Exactly, since day 1 I've been working with duke_stix to help get a working version of crossbow. However now that I've made some progress and actually HAVE a device myself to test on, I felt it was nessary to start a new thread dedicated to it rather than the old dump rom thread

Hi, I found this camera software. Its the one they using in WM6 i think. (Its kinda like the one on my Vox) Im using it on my tronado, and it works with some cert fixes.

seriously sandman,you are not helping!!! am sorry for ranting but like what the thread starter said NO NOOB posting!!! sheesh man!!! they are not "tweaking for performance" for crying out loud!!! they are cooking a wm6 rom!!!
How about we get the ROM fully functional BEFORE we start tweaking it

Also does anybody have the Arcsoft MMS client? I've been searching for a while now but no dice. Also could do with the default windows task manager as well.

You can have the WIFI option appear on its current Comm Manager thru Registry.. i have tried it and it worked.. but anyway, glad the new Comm Manager worked also..
The new comm manager also has flight mode, beam and IP Phone buttons on it

You can't open the Sound in Settings (Settings - Sounds)
Culprit could be the file soundsgsm.cpl.xml on /windows/ directory

I've decided to jump off the deep end and setup my T-Mo Wiz with WinMo 6. However, I have some packages I'd like to add and a few that I'm unsure what they do. I want to add WM5Storage and the today screen plugin Battery Status. I am completely lost as to how to create custom packages. The section concerning how to get the registry keys has me just and I don't mean kind of.
Can anyone shed some light on it for me please?

Eveybody sees, you Masters make a lot of great ROMs for Kaiser, i really wants to use them,but i can't ....
Because i really need my Kaiser to display chinese, such as in Contact or some dictionary programmes.
So if anyone can teach me how too add a chinese support to the roms, it will be very thanksful!

You could also try Cestar... you can download it from mobem (.com I think) as a trial, but even when the trial expires I hear tell it still allows you to read Chinese...
i'm using att tilt (kaiser) there is one software names. Ce-star, if u can not display chinese word,u can try to get that.
I used a cab before in WM5 but that hangs on WM6. I used this method for WM6 with no issues. Note: I added read-only support but not input.

Even though some of us shadow/juno users don't have a section up here yet, are there any works in progress for wm6.1? I know they have it for the dash so I am not sure how much different it would be for the shadow/juno.

It sure would be nice to have our own section for the JUNO/Shadow, and I find it hard to believe that none of these ROM cookers have not been working on a WM6.1 custom rom for the shadow.
The 3125 has been a staple of the smartphone community for too long, and anyone who has used the shadow can appreciate the larger screen and better camera found in the shadow.

There isn't that much to regular cooking of roms. The problem is porting it from another device(which I have no idea how to do). Here are the things you need to do to mod the rom after you have that very important step figured out:
Extract rom (extracted versions are floating around in this forum somewhere...(Check Calling all T-Mo Shadow users thread)
Dump rom into bin files and then convert to normal files/folders
Add/remove files as needed
Create XIP chain with working Shadow drivers (Don't know how to do that)
Convert fiel back to a bin file and recreate os file (nk.nbh)
I can do all of these steps except creating the new XIP chain. I have no idea where to start with that.
I just remembered, you also need to make any drivers in the actual rom that don't work universally to work for the shadow.
If someone can teach me some of the things to do to port the rom, I'll try and do it.

How can I give you the drivers? Do I need to "dump" my Rom and extract the files?

Well, I've got the shadow dump, but I don't know how to edit any drivers from a different devices wm6.1 to work for the shadow

Ok. What device's wm6.1 should we try and port and what build?
I know that there are currently 3 builds of wm6.1, but I don't know if they all have to do with smartphones(maybe only for ppc). Which should we use?
There are 2 that could work. The Dash is very similar to the Shadow. It has wi-fi, bluetooth, camera...however the camera is only 1.3 Mp and the other issue could be the "sure type" shadow's keyboard.

The only problem I can see with using the dash is that it's landscape oriented and the shadow is portrait oriented. It doesn't matter to me though..

i would say use the vox. there is a 6.1 build for the vox. and also not rain on this but, even if you make a build how are we going to flash it? spl will be locked i'm guessing and as far as i know nobody has come up with a jump or hard spl yet for the juno
Does anyone know if Lokiwiz works for the shadow? We could CID unlock it with that, right?
I tried that on my old Wizard and it worked not sure about the Shadow....
EDIT: I thought it CID unlocked my phone. I'll try something else. I downloaded the vox SYS and OEM folders that contain the rom image. (I'll start replacing all the parts tomorrow. Thanks pixelwix for reminding about the cid unlock and the Vox rom suggestion.

long time reader, first time poster.
I decided to register because it really galls me.
For past couple of weeks I'm trying all the WM6.5 roms here, and despite the names like "plain" "naked" and such, none are really plain or naked, or they are unstable or miss something or have other problems like they are "not well cooked".
Is there any cook out here who can cook really plain/clean WM 6.5 rom, perhaps with Mobile Office, but without any other apps whatsoever?
I'm using excellent eOS.4.888.Fire rom for 2 years now, and it is aging. I want to upgrade to WM 6.5 but I can't find anything like it.
I just can't believe it is so hard to cook a plain rom with office and without anything else, why do all the cooks have to include extra apps that they like? Is it so hard to cook a rom without them? I don't understand.
I beg you, o Great Holy Cooks of XDA, anyone of yous: please cook a one plain and stable English WM 6.5 rom for our Kaisers! Please!
I will gladly donate to make your effort worthwile, and I'm sure many other xda users would do the same, as almost every rom thread here have the same question about "is it clean/plain and stable rom"... and I believe it shouldn't be that much of work for those who already know how to cook!

You can install the new office on a stock ROM. So why cook it?

This is what I consider plain and clean:
example from eOS.4.888.Fire rom:

- Windows Mobile with its own apps (Active Sync, Calendar, ...)
- very few HTC apps that are specific to Kaiser's hardware features (QuickGPS, Bluetooth, wifi ...)
- MS Office and its neccessary apps
I don't want any audioboosters or other "cook's favorite apps" to take up space in the rom. Make the rom with UC and we can add anything else ourself, at hard reset

Since Kaiser has a native 6.5 kernel, you get better performance cooking in everything that you want installed, but I'm sure you know well enough. Anyway, I can do this for you once or twice (only once or twice due to limited spare time on my part).
Tell me which build you want and a detailed list of every package you want and I will leave out everything else.

Please keep in mind though, it does not give better performance with 6.5 NK to install things like Adobe reader, Java, Office, or .NET after flash. You will get better performance by cooking them in the rom. OTOH, I believe Manila, Phone Canvas (and anything else with many picture files) are better to be installed after flash instead of cooked in.
As to your question, I only have to leave in a few packages for the rom to boot, but many things will not work if not cooked in (DRM, I believe is one of them).
