you can also selectively delete. Only widgets left are
MUSIC

CLOCK
WEATHER
thanks, this must have taken a............g..............e.................s to type out
Thats cool thatnks,
but can i take out 1 or 2 from the list that i would like to keep and then run it in cmd?
EDIT: then again if i have them all on my sd, this wont work..
Just copy and paste the OP and make a batch file. Then just run it

That's what I was about to suggest...granted I hate that the item list resets itself after every delete...(if u delete hypothetical ZZZ.apk and want to delete the ZZZ.odex file u'd have to scroll to the bottom again)
Can you delete the weather widget without messing up the clock/weather widget?

Are you sure its for the Stock market?
I removed Stock.apk and odex, that removed the Stocks from my app drawer and removing the com.htc.StockWidget.apk and odex removes the Stock widget.
So your tellling me that DCSStock is also part of it?
If u are on a EDGE internet connection i suggest u dont use any widgets that use the internet like twitter or mail, They slow down rosie when they pull updates from the internet.
You could also remove the Mail.apk/odex if you only use gmail.
Yep, this is what I was doing for a while, then I just realized what a lifesaver just resigning the file is...just follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471586 and get the resigning setup so all you have to do is this:
-Download Update file
-Delete the files you dont want in there directly from the update file (like OP is doing with command lines there) [its also better b/c you can choose other apps you may not want in there )]
-Go to Run > CMD > type: java testsign update.zip
-Done.
-Put on SD card and go.
Ive been doing that several weeks now, its really quicker once you get it setup (if you have adb (doing the command lines posted), then your already half way there).
Otherwise this works too .
the biggest system drag, though, is that clock and widget. I made a build with that uninstalled, kept mail and msg widgets, and installed the alarm clock from tehseano's rom, and rosie is now fast, even with all 7 home screens loaded. i dont use a world clock,so it works for me
is there anyway i can remove these apks and odex files from the update.zip and possibly a few others that i dont want... i have tried removing them from the update.zip and installing, but it fails... file not found Quickoffice_HTC_1.0.1.apk
any ideas ???

So... I don't know how to make ROMs, or update.zips.... but I can make batch files!! HAHA
Basically, all this does is help noobies out by doing everything for you.
This is intended for use with FreshToast, but should work with any ROM really (JIT functionality depends on if the ROM supports it and editing the build.prop file, read below)

What it does
JIT does NOT like Sense UI. You basically can't use Sense UI with JIT... so this will remove Sense UI then enable JIT.
You can read about JIT here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-in-time_compilation
This will remove all HTC Widgets, Rosie, and any other useless SenseUI applications. (as they don't work with other launchers) and push over the Helix Launcher. Also, this will enable JIT (there is an option to enable or not to, as well as automated enable/disable JIT)
I have also included the HTC Ringtone trimmer apk - its honestly the best ringtone trimmer I've used, and works great, alot of devs take it out. I dont know why.
Also Ive included the genie news and weather widget.
I get no force closes with this method from removing sense, but as with most roms with JIT enabled, there is the occasional freeze.
As always, DO A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST!!!
The build.prop file is ROM SPECIFIC!!
The script has the build.prop for FRESHTOAST 1.1
I'm working on getting multiple build.prop's from other ROMs so you will only have to make a simple menu selection.
If you are using a different ROM do the following:
adb pull /system/build.prop C:/system.prop_jit
edit the file in WORDPAD (not notepad) and save as build.prop_jit in the "Unicode Text Format"
Go to the very last line of the file, and add the following line:
Code:
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
Save the file as build.prop to the location you extracted the zip (no_sense.zip) to and overwrite the old one.
The rest remains the same.
Special thanks to regaw_leinad for the help with the script. THANK YOU!! also thanks to Jus10o for helping me with the force closes I was getting after removing sense. Thanks also to "gunnyman" for the hosting of the file!
Instructions:
First thing is something some of you may already have done. This will enable adb to be run in the DOS command line from anywhere, not just your android tools folder.
Right click on "My Computer"
Click Properties
Click the advanced tab
Click "Environment Variables"
In the top window click "PATH"
Click "Edit"
Change the "Variable Value" to your android SDK tools folder (Mine is C:\Android\tools)
Now unzip the no_sense folder anywhere you want.
Connect your phone via USB and make sure you DO NOT have the phone in disk mode, select "Charge Only" and ensure the phone has USB-Debugging on (should be by default)
Double click on "no_sense.bat" and follow the prompts.
The first time you enable JIT it will create a backup of your old files, and can be restored/disabled later.
NOTICE You MUST change your home screen wall paper to a non-htc wallpaper before enabling JIT. If not, your phone will freeze on boot. Any photo will do, as long as it is not a HTC wallpaper. I'm looking in to how to prevent this from happening. If you accidentally booted without changing, just nandroid back and do it again. After stripping the ROM of Sense UI, and starting Helix, change your wallpaper, THEN enable JIT.
Currently v1.2
Download Here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6718465/no_sense_with_apks.zip 9.40MB (Includes all the backed up Rosie APKs)
Without APKs: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6718465/no_sense.zip 1.75MB
I'm curious to try it on the new ZenExp ROM. Helix launcher already works great with it.
Well the Sense UI strip part works....
Having some trouble with the JIT part...
I guess some commands can't be done though ADB Shell
are you using ADB to execute a script? if so make sure you chmod that script. adb shell chmod 755 /sdcard/nameofscript should do the trick.

can you send me the script, I'll take a look at it and see whats goin on.
When I saw the howto for enabling JIT I wrote a script that would execute the list of shell commands. All I had to do was edit build prop manually then execute the script. I also wrote an undo script. I can easily redo it for you if it will help.
This is an excellent contribution. Thanks. I see many firsts much less worthy of posting(aka-why is this posteds) Also, damage put dcconfig.apk in the new .08 rom which allows for you to enable/disable jit and many other options from within a checkbox.
Ah, Found the issue...
I'm doing everything through adb shell xxxcommandxxx for JIT...
However I dont know how to get SU through the shell...
Here's part of it Ive stripped out.

do adb remount first.
Here's the full script if you're interested... again... the strip sense part works fine, JIT is giving me issues.

try taking out "busybox", because if it is installed in the rom and symlinked you don't need to type that.

let me know if you have any more questions/problems. pm me your gtalk if you have one too.

Gotcha..
Code:
@ECHO OFF
adb remount
adb shell mkdir /sdcard/jit
adb shell mkdir /sdcard/dalbk
adb shell mkdir /sdcard/JIT/bin
adb push libdvm.so /sdcard/JIT/libdvm.so
adb push libnativehelper.so /sdcard/JIT/libnativehelper.so
adb push dalvikvm /sdcard/JIT/bin/dalvikvm
adb pull /system/build.prop build.prop_backup

adb shell cp -f /sdcard/jit/libdvm.so /system/lib/
adb shell cp -f /sdcard/jit/libnativehelper.so /system/lib/

adb shell chmod 644 /system/lib/libdvm.so
adb shell chmod 644 /system/lib/libnativehelper.so
adb shell chmod 666 /system/build.prop
adb shell sync
Now the only error is:
"They system cannot find the path specified"
I have no idea what though, going to start taking one line off at a time.

just copy paste "pause" between the lines.. its quicker that way, and you can see where it fails.

this should be
Code:
adb shell cat build.prop >/system/build.prop
no period between cat and build
EDIT:
AND you need to specify the path of the first build.prop, because what that is doing is combining the two build.props

I JUST found that....
should be /sdcard/jit/build.prop
Let me try that.
Hmm, there is no build.prop that is placed in the /sdcard/jit folder.
The original code is here:
This will enable jit on your phone.
Code:
cd /sdcard/jit/bin
cp -f dalvikvm /system/bin/
busybox chmod 755 /system/bin/dalvikvm
cd /sdcard/jit
cp -f libdvm.so /system/lib/
cp -f libnativehelper.so /system/lib/
cat build.prop >/system/build.prop
chmod 644 /system/lib/libdvm.so
chmod 644 /system/lib/libnativehelper.so
chmod 666 /system/build.prop
sync
reboot
Judging by the last cd... there should be one in /sdcard/jit
You might need to watch it in YouTube to get the annotations

Hi there. I really, really hate Timescape lol. Can you please tell me how to remove that, also just incase, if the removal of it ends up screwing up something, can you post how to reinstall it also.
thank you and keep up the great work
I've got Korean, Japanese and chinese keyboards (even tho I used the UK fw?)
maybe we should add those to the list?
The thing is.
Is there really any point in deleting stuff?
yes saving space, but I dont think they're too big?
We should try and make a list of the apps that run on the background doing stuff. those are the ones we should focus on getting rid of.

You can't remove it, as it is linked to the phone (calling/messaging) aspect of the phone.
You also can't remove mediascape, otherwise your headphones won't work.

the reason you have other keyboards is due to you using the firmware in this post,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6514692&postcount=2
Its not so much the space but other aspects, it leaves your CPU free to only think about what you want it too not "should i do this with this or that"

Also, I think we should remove Wisepilot.
It should be big, and AFAIK it's a paid GPS software?

You dont need root to remove that one its just a standard uninstall
Im rooted with latest R2BA020, but I wanna remove moxier and all these Asian keyboards,
Ive Tried methods mentioned in initial post, it fails. can any one help?
Anyone manage to install it successfully without losing root. If so, how?
No, same problem, pushed the 2.3 apk to apps, after that not in launcher anymore and root completely gone.
Messed around for 2 hours now with X10root.apk, the runme batch file and at last manually. Don't know which method actually did it, but after final reboot I got rooted again and Superuser was visible again in Launcher.
I think the Donut Version of Superuser 2.3 is a fail, got 2.2 now, I think from Angelos pack but not sure.
Yeah, that's my experience too. The root .apk fixed it up for me again.
I've heard that the superuser 2.3 asks for permission for everything on the phone, is that correct?
Why would one need to upgrade to what most have using the root method? I see no reason to change whats already working fine and giving root. People never realise that newer versions dont always mean better!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Works a treat
You have to remove the old Superuser.apk from /system/app/
Then add the latest Superuser.apk along with the "su" supplied using adb:
Code:
@adb shell mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
@adb push apps\Superuser.apk /sdcard/Superuser.apk
@adb shell dd if=/sdcard/Superuser.apk of=/system/app/Superuser.apk
@adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/Superuser.apk
@adb push bin\su /sdcard/su
@adb shell dd if=/sdcard/su of=/system/bin/su
@adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
@adb shell rm /sdcard/su
@adb shell rm /sdcard/Superuser.apk

This also happens on my phone.
Did the same for me. Rebooted, it was fine (did it on both my x10 and nexus).
Removing the old superuser app and pushing the new one works. Thanks guys.
Can i use a terminal / file manager on X10 to copy the apk and sh binary (ofcourse after mounting rw) ?
Or i have to use "dd"?
What are the new features found in the Superuser 2.3?
2.3.1 is out and works no more FC....
yup! works fine now

Could you please tell me how to do this?
Do i have just to open my sdk on my pc and insert the comand you wrote?
I'm tryng to understand how to remove superuser from the phone because i have a X10 and X10mini, and i've a problem with the second phone and this apk.
When i downloaded from the market a new version (2.3.6.1) of this programm, all went fine with my X10.
With X10 mini, when i try to download from market superuser, i can finish to downloading this apk, but phone dosen't install it.
A messagge appear sayng the package is not signed.
So maybe i thought it could depends from older version that's installed on X10 mini. Am i doing right removing the old version for installing new one? Or mine is another kind of issue?
And in general, is this still the right method (and the only one) to remove superuser.apk from Xperia phones?
Thanks
thank you!
I am a G3's user

Market updated me to 2.3.6.1, Titanium still runs, so still rooted.
Since I was asked to release the remove bloatware script (hardcore mode) from the now more or less obsolete kn0x0ut toolbox, here it goes.
This baby removes like 99,9% of bloatware you can think of, including most google stuff (only Google Account, Google Services Framework, and Play store remain, thats all you need to download apps), all the "test" apps and otherwise useless stuff in my eyes.
Only run this if you know what you are doin and know how to reinstall the stuff incase something gets deleted that you want to use.
Make a nandroid backup before too or something, and report if something important is not working after running. (was created for ML2 rom, dunno if it works with Kitkat)
Calling, GPS, Wifi, etc. should all be still working. (but NetworkLocation gets deleted, this will stop the phone sending location data to google afaik, but GPS-aware apps still work. Just install it back if you want to be tracked errr I mean if you want apps to get your location by network data from google.
WTF cant upload sh, so put this into a sh script and run it:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh

Try Echoe's debloater. Haven't tested it myself.
Hey,
The script is not working here (mj7, run as admin). rm failed ...... Is there anything special to run this script?
Thanks
Can't help with this but if you dont get it working, i made a flashable zip from this script (the hardcore version). I wont post it because its not my work but i could send you a link if you are interested. All credits to zr0ice.

if you want to debloat a kk based rom, i'm sure you will find something in my signature
Hey guys,
Not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I am at my wits end and think I need a bit of help. I have been cloning devices on Android 7.1 without too much trouble, but something has changed in Android 8.1 which breaks things. Here is my setup:
Device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X 16GB, unlocked bootloader
OS: LineageOS 15.1 (Android 8.1)
My setup process is as follows:
Let stock ROM update (for latest firmware), unlock BL, flash TWRP, clean wipe, flash LineageOS + Gapps + Magisk
Skip through setup wizard, apply customisations (apps via APKs, launcher, settings, etc)
Clear Data for following:
com.google.android.gms.setup
Google App
Google Account Manager
Google Backup Transport
Google One Time Init
Google Partner Setup
Google Play Services
Google Play Services for Instant Apps
Google Play Store
Google Services framework
Reboot to TWRP
Connect to PC, run following ADB command: adb pull /data/system/users/0/settings_secure.xml
Open settings_secure.xml and delete "android_id" line
Push settings_secure.xml back to device: adb push settings_secure.xml /data/system/users/0/
Capture system image, flash onto other devices (either via TWRP backup or pushing system images via ADB)
Boot device, log into client Google account, done
Now this process used to work great on LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1), but now I get the following issues:
When adding a Google Account, it does not appear in Android device manager, but it appears in the list of devices in the Google Play Store? If I remove the account and then add it again it appears, but the issues below still occur.
Google's messaging / push system is broken. If I send a Hangouts message to my Google account, it won't appear until I open the app.
Any pre-installed apps won't appear in the "installed" list of apps in the play store, and therefore not update automatically until the user manually searches for the app in the Play Store and hits "update" (ugh).
I need to be deploying around 100 units over the next couple of months or so I need something that is scalable. I might be going around this the wrong way completely. I am not a ROM developer or programmer, just found something that has worked well in the past, so if I need to develop a ROM from scratch based on LineageOS I'll probably need to hire someone to do this for me as this is a bit beyond my current capabilities and time constraints. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks.
Android ID is same for many devices if you clone. That is really bad and can cause issues.

I am deleting the Android ID from settings_secure.xml though. Unless it is somewhere else as well?
I'm still struggling with this problem. Is there anything else I can try? I googled this problem and the first result is this thread :/

Code:
adb shell settings delete secure android_id
adb shell settings delete secure advertising_id
adb shell settings delete secure bluetooth_address
adb shell settings put secure bluetooth_name 'YOURNAME'
adb shell settings put global device_name 'YOURNAME'
adb shell settings put global wifi_p2p_device_name 'YOURNAME'
The two IDs are then randomly regenerated. YOURNAME is any name of your choice.

Thanks for that. I believe I actually found their respective strings in settings_secure.xml:
<setting id="59" name="config_update_certificate"
<setting id="43" name="bluetooth_address"
And of course the Android ID. Once I deleted these, they auto-generated on the next boot, so I do this using ADB in TWRP.
I tried this and so far I'm not having any problems! Will report back if I experience any issues.
Another update - turn out that this is NOT enough. You will also want to clear data for the following apps (ideally just before shutting down the system and clearing android, bluetooth and config_update_certificate) to ensure that push notifications continue to work:
Com.google.android.gms.setup
Google App (not 100% sure if this is required, but I do it anyway)
Google Play Services
Google Play Store
Google Services framework
Reboot, clear your IDs, and then take your image. It should be OK after that, I think. I generally like to setup Hangouts on the device and then reboot, and let it sit for 5 minutes so its fully dozed before I send a test message.
Edit: STILL not working even after all this. Anyone else able to offer an explanation as to why push notifications is such an issue? This is becoming really difficult

ok, if you want to reset everything in a clone, proceed as follows:
Code:
adb shell su -c mount -o remount,rw /system
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/accounts.db
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/accounts.db-journal
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/photo.png

OMG, I think that worked, thank you! I spent 5 hrs and stayed up to 3am trying to work this out with no luck, and this did the trick. To make things easier however, I morphed these commands into a dirty "one-liner" that saves entering each command.
Code:
adb shell settings delete secure android_id && adb shell settings delete secure advertising_id && adb shell settings delete secure bluetooth_address && adb shell settings put secure bluetooth_name 'Redmi Note 4' && adb shell settings put global device_name 'Redmi Note 4' && adb shell settings put global wifi_p2p_device_name 'Redmi Note 4' && adb shell su -c mount -o remount,rw /system && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/accounts.db && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/accounts.db-journal && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/photo.png && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/accounts.xml && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/pending.xml && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/stats.bin && adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/status.bin && adb shell su -c pm clear com.android.packageinstaller && adb shell su -c pm clear com.android.providers.downloads && adb shell su -c pm clear com.android.vending && adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.backuptransport && adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.gms && adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.gsf && adb shell su -c mount -o remount,ro /system
I'm sure there is a more efficient way of stacking commands, but this worked. Replace "Redmi Note 4" with your actual device and reboot. I cleared data for any messaging apps and removed my Google account before I began, however.

Quick update.
After a bit more testing, turns out that there were still a few things that needed clearing, particularly on different versions of Android (7.1). Also, I've noticed that a GSF ID can be generated before you get a chance to capture an image if you leave Wi-Fi enabled, so I've included that in the script. I've ended up with a .BAT file with the following:
Code:
echo on
adb shell settings delete secure android_id
adb shell settings delete secure advertising_id
adb shell settings delete secure bluetooth_address
adb shell su -c mount -o remount,rw /system
adb shell su -c svc wifi disable
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/accounts.db
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/accounts.db-journal
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/photo.png
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/users/0/settings_ssaid.xml
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/accounts.xml
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/pending.xml
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/stats.bin
adb shell su -c rm /data/system/sync/status.bin
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.ext.services
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.ext.shared
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.gsf.login
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.onetimeinitializer
adb shell su -c pm clear com.android.packageinstaller
adb shell su -c pm clear com.android.providers.downloads
adb shell su -c pm clear com.android.vending
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.backuptransport
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.gms
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.instantapps.supervisor
adb shell su -c pm clear com.google.android.gsf
adb shell su -c mount -o remount,ro /system
I have found that this works consistently across both LineageOS 14.1 and LineageOS 15.1 devices.

YES, this did it. I cloned a kindle fire hdx using TWRP backup&restore and had to perform the action mentioned above in order to use both devices independetly.
ATTENTION!
Remember to change the values listed in stephendt0's example that were not part of the original code from rainman74:
- device_name: Equals the device type. E.g. adb shell settings put global device_name 'KFHDX'
- bluetooth_name: Hostname of the device seen in bluetooth.
- wifi_p2p_device_name: Hostname used for a p2p wifi network aka "ad hoc network". Not supported on all devices.
