Do pray tell so that we can convert them ourselves rather than having to wait for an update to 1.4 of Fatality's Hero (been two weeks?).
Rather than having to depend on one person, we should share our knowledge so that we can all contribute.
I would like to know, too.. Do someboby want to explain it?
I agree. Fatality has done a great job on the ROM, it's just way too slow
Hope you guys can figure it out and help the rest of us out
I am also very intrested in how to do this. It is also defiantly possible as I have seen the superhero Rom for g1 ported to the magic.
I did a little bit of experimenting myself. I found that I could flash Superhero and JAC without any modification onto the ION phone. I did notice some things not working such as wifi and bluetooth plus calls did not hear my voice. ie. It is not stable or usable long-term.
In many ways this makes sense since it is for the same OS, same manufacturer but perhaps some things are different on the motherboard. I therefore assume some things get swapped around such as the Magic wlan.ko into the package. A clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.
Okay seems like nobody is responding, which is disappointing.
I'm going to go ahead and flash JACHero 2.63 - Fully Optimized HTCHero 7/11/09 4:00PM and place it on my Google ION
Will report in and let you know what happens. I'm willing to bet it will work fine but with a few hiccupy problems.
Ill be very intrested to see your results.
yep im doing the same
flashing now oh and praying
to late to go back now lol flashing half done
I wrote a very long ranting post but instead I have self-moderated myself on this reply.
Let me just say the two words you want to hear: It works.
And let me just say this: It's embarrasing that in an android development forum those who have knowledge that could empower the community do not let people know such basics as what is involved with building the phone rom for a particular handset. There are too many ROM builds now to justify waiting on one person releasing an update.
I will withhold further judgement of those who are 'converting' G1 ROMs to Magic until I know it works perfectly as I have had issues when experimenting with an old Hero G1 rom with phone calls (caller could not hear my voice). In which case I respectfully withdraw any assertations.
But I have tested Haykuros IONr for G1, JACHero and SuperHero ROM. All for G1s. Yet they all worked (at least in terms of booting, phone synch to google account, etc) fine on my Google ION.
You do not need to 'convert' them for them to work. I had standard engineering SPL available from here and standard radio.

glad to hear it works too.
fyi it is much, much safer to let it take its time on the HTC screen. id be worried if something bad happend because you pulled the battery our prematurely.
this delay is standard on most phone roms when you install them. and as always, wipe before you flash.
let me know how you go with your app tests. im experimenting at the moment. and thank you for also having the courage to test with me, davec26

3G works. GPS (both wireless network and GPS) works. Google Maps works. Email synch works. Twitter synch works. Android market works. App download and install works. For all intents and purposes, the phone is operational. And may I say, DAMN its fast compared to Fatality's weeks old Magic build.
I'll try WiFi in a moment. I think thats where it will fall down, and possibly bluetooth and phone calls. As its 1:35am I probably cant call anyone lol.
Here's where we need to work as a community though: The wifi issue is known even on G1 builds. It is a matter of replacing key components in the package to suit Magic. We should know what to replace and why. In this way we are empowered to do it ourselves.

ah ok calls are all fine just tested in and out
Confirmed: Wifi is not working. States it cannot turn on. Bluetooth appears to be working but as I have no device to test it cannot fully confirm.
But damn this is so, so much faster. Seriously I used to dread pressing the home button. At least a minute wait in the past. I cant believe how fast it is. And window transitions too. If you dont care about wifi then this rocks.
Now to test a phone call. Davec26 if its not too late in evening, got someone to call?
OK, i'm going to give this a shot too.. curiosity has got the better of me! Has anyone tried pushing the wlan.ko from a working Magic Hero build to system/lib/modules ?
Just a thought: In the Fatality package it has the wireless packages that work from his build under \system\ because certainly thats where it'll be
If he could it would be great if he can post specifically mentioning what was required to change in order for Hero G1 builds to work on Magic.
Then it can become a sticky on a 'how to' people can download the latest builds anywhere and make them work on Magic.
That is unless we beat him to it. I suspect it will always be the same files or edits too, regardless of whether its Hero or plain cupcake.

Alright, so I'm a fairly new owner of a Raphael (previously owned a Hermes as you may have guessed from my username), and I've been reading constantly just trying to catch up on all the knowledge pertaining to the Raphael. In fact, I haven't even decided whether to purchase Olipro's unlock yet.
Anyway, after testing multiple roms, I upgraded to RRE V4 Final 2 (then seeing RRE V5 shortly afterwards; go figure). Anyway, it worked great at first, but then I soon noticed enormous battery draining. Something like 10-15% drainage every hour. Researching, I discovered some people were able to solve the problem by changing radios, so I did the same.
After some testing, I tried 1.12.25.19, and I'm in love.
The battery problems are gone, the calls are clear, and so on, but the mot impressive thing is how well the GPS is functioning now. When I first got the Raphael, I had to spend three days of testing before I was able to get the damn thing to even work for the first time. After that, I had to wait roughly 15-30 minutes every time I start the GPS up before it would start functioning right.
After I changed to radio 1.12.25.19, though, things seems to have taken a turn for the better. Testing the GPS with the radio for the first time, I step out of my front door, turn it on, and there was a lock in less than 10 seconds. I almost couldn't believe it and I was, of course, happy.
But the really impressive thing occurred less than 20 minutes ago. See, I had made plans to visit a place, and needed to save the address in my GPS. I turned on my GPS software first, but while I was searching for the address I needed, the GPS software suddenly lit up. I was confused for a moment as to what happened before it hit me that there was a GPS lock. In an area of my house which I didn't realize could be done. To emphasize this point, I had owned a dedicated GPS receiver before which had barely been able to get a lock in this area, and it didn't lock half as fast as the Raphael did (less than 10 seconds again).
Of course, the GPS is not everything for everyone, but as I said, battery life and call reception seem fairly impressive too. Furthermore, from my searching, it seems as if a lot of other members consider it to be a fairly impressive radio too. If nothing else, considering the GPS problems some seem to have (including me previously), the ability to get the GPS to work like this is real quality.
(Thanks to all for reading!)
Thanks for your review. I 'll definetely try it because today I realize that a "simle" 80 euro phone had full signal while my TP was 2/5. First thing tomorow after flashing latest Lantis ;-)
I agree 100%. I am using a custom rom and this radio. The results are amazing. Good battery life and GPS like it should be.
So far so good with RRE 5.2; but only a couple of hours. Picked up two sats from down stairs in a 2 story.

hi. out of curiosity, which radio did you upgrade from?
For some reason i cant get it to install it said its Radio 1.100 when im on the RUU
I've noticed the same improvements with this radio.
GPS locks most of the time before the application completely loads, dropped calls gone, battery life improved.
Mine is an at&t branded, with the "leaked" at&t rom.

Well, I had tested the Raphael 1.11.25.01 first before moving to the Raphael 1.11.25.19. The former worked well, but the GPS lock was still kind of slow. It also may have been my imagination, but call quality seemed to have been worse.

Upgrading radio
Never been one brave enough to mess with the ROM's for fear of bricking mine. I NEED my phone hourly for work and personal, so down time for me, monkeying with it, is not an option.
However, concerning the radio. Is it possible to just upgrade the radio portion and not the entire ROM. I apologize if there is a link for this already.
TIA,
James
You'll always have the risk of bricking your phone when you flash, but it's not likely. In order to flash a radio you'll still need to flash the boot loader with hardspl first, which will require a backup and restore of your existing data else all is lost. For that reason I'm sticking with my current radio because I'd rather not goof with reloading all of my data and registry tweaks. See the noob flashing thread (including details about hardspl) here:

You should totally get the unlocker, then you could flash the 1.12.25.16 radio, which is waaaay better than the 1.12.25.19.

Oh yes, you can change the radio without changing the ROM. Just make sure you have HardSPL installed first (it won't require a hard reset either).

Hmm, that's the Blackstone radio, right? Even better than 1.12.25.19? Sounds tempting. I think I'll upgrade to it later if I ever get the unlock. Thanks for the recommendation!
i have a fuze and ive never done a radio flash before on any of my htc phones so i know nothing about it. but gps sucks. i have hardspl and a custom rom. what else do i need? do i need the olipro sim unlock? i spent all my money on this phone and dont really want to have to pay for me. :|
This radio is pretty good. GPS works great and I get good reception but my data rates suck with this radio. I originally thought my new sim that was causing the problem but I've eliminated all other factors down to this radio.

Not true. You can do hardspl and flash a radio without losing all your data. It is only when you flash the actual ROM that data is erased. What I do is the SD card method, where I rename the radio to RAPHIMG.nbh, put it on my sd card root and enter bootloader. No messing around with activesync.

Definitely do not flash this radio to a sprint phone. Sprint's TP is a CDMA device and you have to flash CDMA radios.
good to know...
I am only having problems when i install any Hero Rom. After I install the Rom on my newly rooted MT3G and I put the phone to sleep using the red hang up button my screen gets jumbled. Every other rom this does not happen with, only Hero roms. Every time I try to take a pic of my screens the picture comes out normal but the screen that I am actually seeing is blurry from the text to images. I am sorry if I am not clear, I will try to take pictures a different so you can see
Yes. The pixellation that you're talking about happens to all myTouches as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any insights?
have you tried the Fatal1ty or Evil's rom?
it's the two I've had success with.
Haven't had that issue so far, I've used JACxHero and Drizzy's No Name Hero.
Trying Fatal1ty....
Trying Fatal1ty's now.. but JesusFrek's had the same issue as the ION ROM, pixilation distoration after unlocking the phone...
Such a shame, it was really responsive also

I have tried everyone but the fatality rom. I am trying it now, hopefully this one will be the lucky one
Fatal1ty (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) works soo far
Here is what I have tested (this usually produces pixelation:
1) Locking the phone through the call end/power off button, then waking it up via the "menu" button
2) Plugging in the charger while the phone is "asleep"
3) Rebooting the phone.
So far, so good with Fatal1ty... so now the question of the hour is.. why is this happening on some ROM's but not all (i dont know Java.. at all.)

Actually, the question is why is it affecting only certain people? Like I said, I've got a MT3G and have not seen this issue with 2 roms that have had it for other people. If there's anything specific I can provide, do tell.
i think i read somewhere this is due to compcache or swapping not working properly. try to reformat your sd card with the 3 partitions

I did that with a fresh 8 gig class 6 using Ra's recovery. And another I did with parted through my G1 and the problen still persists. So not quite sure that's where the problem lies.
I tried both cc and swap versions of qtek's to no avail. And those were both on newly reformated cards
[Edit] - sidenote: when android first came out we ran a ported rom on a Touch perfectly. When we tried ports for the Touch Diamond, this pixelation occured. I must revisit that to maybe shed some light. I know there are hardware/software differences. But worth a try. Lol
QTEK
Qtek's works great for me. VERY responsive, and no pixilation at all. had it for 3 days now on my Tmo mt3g

this doesnt help the issue. i also get the pixeljumble problem with my MyTouch usually when it goes to sleep and i then press the menu button.
another issue is when i make calls i somehow get disconnected a minute into the call and sometimes the phone even restarts while im in the middle of the call. any reason why this would happen
My MT3G is doing the same thing. Only problem is I completely erased system, boot, data, system img's and I STILL get pixelation. I am experiencing this even on non Hero ROM's including cyanogen's and everything else. Anyone experiencing the same thing?
he only rom that is working without pixelation for me is Fatal1tys Hero. Is there a solution to why this is happening, or we have to live with this?
eViL Hero Rom works for me also. Much quicker than Fatal1ty's rom in my opinion. No luck with any others though. I'd love to get no name hero working because when it's not pixelly it's fast as hell!
I have been having issues with getting my GPS to work. I have tried installing the latest Radios and changing roms, wiping and rebooting...all kinds of things and when I try to use the navigate feature in the maps application, it says 'searching for gps...' forever. Any suggestions? What can we do? I know I am not the only one with this issue...
It works but its just been flaky since I went to Eclair/Froyo roms.
Never had any of these issues with the early donut stuff. So I consider it related to that.
No real need for a "think tank" on this subject - the G1 GPS has worked great since the Donut update and last couple radio updates. The problem is more than likely due to using a ROM that was never intended to be used on our G1s.

so are you saying that by using a ROM that was never intended to be used on our G1's that my gps is now broken? Or under that ROM it is unusable ?... Also, is your GPS turn by turn navigation working fine? Mine has not been working for a while now, and I have searched and asked alot and have not been able to fix it with any of the suggestions, so I was hoping by starting this thread we could get a solution or some solutions going...
What phone u got n which Tom are u currently using
Never mind white g1 on super e that's strange man I just used it female BK to silver spring. MD I'm on. Cy rc2 are updated to 440??
I am using cyanogrn 6.0 rc2 and my gps works perfectly.

mine works pretty decent....
I suggest to anyone trying to diagnose GPS issues, don't bother for the next couple days...
http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=10/08/02/2028228
Mine was working perfectly on CM5.0.8 but in the past few days it's been locating me several hundred miles from my true position, without any software changes. I think we're just in for a period of noisy signal...
actually i can confirm having similar issues... it seems like the antenna is disconnected or sth... the gps chip seems to be found, no errors on that unlike on a diff. G1 i checked that had it disconnected, which gave me problems there already. also it finds satellites but only up to 3 which is not enough for location correlation... so i guess our problem is a hardware thing... unfortunately
i admit, since moving to eclair and froyo my gps has been very temperamental. It is so undependable, if i leave the house in a hurry i am screwed. I have to leave the gps on for a while to get a lock then i can leave the house.
Mines working perfect. However, if you find yourself constantly needing the use of navigation, then I suggest you go buy an actual GPS. Yes, your phone can DO IT, but it's not the main function of your phone. You shouldn't rely on your phone for an extra function. I usually only result to phone navigation when I need to get somewhere quick and right then and have absolutely no idea where its at or how to even get close to it. I've maybe used it 4 times. Every time I use it, it works perfectly for me.
As lbcoder said, many things can block or interfere with your GPS signal. Have any of you tested somewhere very spacious and open with no buildings or anything? You may be surprised at how much a difference outside can make. Mine generally does ok inside, but works much better outside. This is true for generally everywhere for me.

Is the antennae in place (exposed, like a small shinny screw just left of the sim card)? It’s fathomable the antennae slipped ajar or even fell out, especially if you’ve tinkered at all with it’ guts.

No, it is not exposed. I was thinking the same thing, but the guts have never been messed with.
I was trying to revert it back to stock the other day to see if that would change it, but I could not even find the right donut file to download.
I have the latest radio, I dont know about the SPL though (I will check when im done writing this...) and the ROM that I am currently using is Super F test 2, but I have had this issue with every other ROM...
Maybe there is a ROM or ROM/ Radio/ SPL combination that someone could suggest? (I dont know if that will even work for me though, but thanks in advance)

are you referring to Turn by Turn navigation GPS?
Like I said, get a GPS system. You shouldn't depend on your phone for something like this. You should only depend on your phone to make phone calls.
You can try Donut. If you want to unroot here:
http://tinyurl.com/yenhdpx
Extract that, place on root of sdcard, and boot holding camera. It will detect it and ask you the press send. If you press send, you will start reverting to stock 1.0. Cupcake must be updated through a new recovery.

ok yeah that is what I was talking about, but...you know say in maps, when you get directions then tap on 'navigate' and then it opens 'google navigation' ...that is where I have the GPS problem...it will locate me fine but wont give me turn by turn directions as a true pure GPS device would, it just says "searching for GPS..." forever...even if I leave it over night.
After about one day of this GB update, what can we tell? Still any issues? Some people bricked their phones, so is there any idea why? Can we recap on what has been achieved this far? Are there any flashable ROMs with all good stuff?
The phone is still buggy. I have been having issue with BT and the phone locked up on a call once.
Basically, sometimes when I turn my BT headset off, it will still say it is connected on the phone. I will need to turn the BT off and then back on to get it to work correctly again.
As for the phone locking up. I was on BT and switched over to the speaker phone and the phone just died. I had to do a battery pull to get it to turn back on.
So it really just sounds like they need to work on BT more because I never had these issues on Froyo.

1. (People having reboots before update)
*Did it fix the reboot issue?
2. (People with signal problems before update)
*Did the new baseband fix this/ do you get better signal now??
3. Another problem I have is that wifi and 4G constantly battle each other to see which one gets the signal. So I have to turn wifi on and off until 2G/4G go away.
(For people that have this)
*Did this get solved?
4. * Does GPS lock faster/work better?
I've had three different phones and I've had same issues with all three and even trying different roms. A different rom might fix one issue, but not the others for me.
My main concern is the reboot and signal issues!
These are questions for people that have same or similar issues.
NOT for people with no issues before update.
So please NO "There is nothing wrong with my phone!" People.
Thanks!!
....
For those who are still having problems after the update it might be wise just to do a factory reset because froyo and gbread is very different...
* GPS locks much faster now, often instantly, and indoors.
* Switching between 2G/4G seems to be smoother; doesn't lose the connection for a few seconds like it used to

I had reboot issues before and so far haven't had any, but to make a proper conclusion I'll have to wait, as even before the update sometimes I would make it days between reboots/shut offs and sometimes only hours.
GPS appears to be very good now, as for wifi/4g/2g I always turn off 2g and use only wcdma setting, and haven't had any issues with it, I leave my wifi and BT on at all times too even when not connected and don't have too bad battery strain.
some things I noticed, in the gallery now when I hit share I don't see the gmail option, the camera reverted back to stock, which is a shame because I loved the things the LG cam app had, but there are a lot of camera apps (I love vignette) so that's not a huge issue, if anyone has the lg app I would love it back though.
I did have some sluggishness especially this morning, I downloaded some widgets though so it might be more of what I added than the update itself.
one surprise was that I thought it was supposed to wipe all data etc. from the phone, but everything was set up the same as I had it before with launcher pro, so I was happy I didn't have to start from scratch. Also I have been getting occasional force closes with launcher pro that I didn't have before.
as far as quadrant scores go I'm getting consistant 2600+ so that is good, I had Faux's kernal and OC to 1300 w/ pimpmycpu and was getting 2800-3000 so without OC I'm more than happy with 2600. Now if only netflix will make it's way to this phone as is, and hopefully we can root soon as i really want ROM Manager, pimpmycpu and a few other root only apps to work again! Love this community, everyone is so helpful and creative, keep up the good work.

Google Music Beta offline feature does NOT work, won't download.
Android Market did not restore my previous apps.
Touch screen is still dodgy, sometimes requiring multiple touches.
Email, specifically @Live.com mail will not display junk mail. Other folders, yes, but not junk.

Has anyone figured out why some people have bricks trying to update? To be honest I still hesitate to do the update because I still don't know why this happens
MOST of the situations seem to be because they didn't want to follow directions, and insisted on doing it their way...then, "OMG! LG BRICKZORD MY PHONE!!!"
I'm sure there were a minority few that had some other difficulty, but from what I read, almost every "brick" post I read had failed to list "nvflashed stock recovery" as one of the prerequisite steps.

I think it's worth waiting for a rooted flashable version a day or two and to avoid any risks.

I wish that were true for me. As I've mentioned in other threads, I'm still getting 90-180 second TTFFs, which is about where I was with stock Froyo. I hope someone will reply to my question in the other thread about the system settings they have that give them such good results. I've fiddled with all of the ones in the hidden menu GPS Test section and haven't found a good combination (and I don't know what the factory settings are supposed to be any more); it's hard because of having to wait a few hours between tests to let the ephemeris data expire in the receiver so I won't just be getting a carryover hot fix.

Hmm, that's strange; I still have Gmail in the list of options for "Share" in the gallery.
As for the camera, I think I actually like this one better. At least, it seems to do a better job of taking close-ups with the flash. With the original LG camera, close-up flash photos were always blown-out and overexposed. I took a couple of test shots in a dark room with the flash, and they look great, about as good as you can get with an LED flash, I think.

If I recall, once you reach the % range....the install range, it tells you, do NOT disconnect. Some of the pictures people were showing were in the Analyze area, before the actual download and install. I think if you get past the analyze phase you can install. I don't believe you can get past it with CWR installed.
Even still, the anticipated failure rate of an update like this (Bricked), is like 8 digits to the right of the decimal point. Even with the problems MS had with the NODO update on the Samsungs, the total # of failures was like 8 World wide. (or just over half their sales. )
So the process is pretty well tested and known.

I promise you that I did it with CWM installed... I literally restored my stock nandroid, booted into that and then ran the update tool... I only had one hiccup where after i got to the S/W screen (after I had already downloaded but before the update) it said that I did not have the phone connected so i unplugged and plugged back in and that didnt work... so I unplugged, pulled the battery, put it back in, plugged in and everything went smoothly

well everybody updated the same source didn't they?
GPS locks on a lot faster...but still loses accuracy in middle of route.
As title says, I went to the theatre today and realized I still had 5 bars of WiFi when I was 20KM away from home, was this a one time glitch or is it a known problem?
sounds familiar....
hey there,
I'm down here in New Zealand with a both versions of device, X & XL
my XL has the problem you speak about.
When i leave my house, it takes for ever to disconnect, pain of course because the 3G or 4G wont flip on while it thinks it is still on wifi.
When i return to my home/SSID the device takes for ever to reconnect, if it even does. i go to the wifi settings, and the connection initiation is just cycling, end attempts to connect, over and over.
I've thought i had fix it once before, by installing a new RUU. I was on RUU 1.77.708.3 Asia, could only find 1.77.708.2.
this seemed to fix disconnection on departure problem, but the cycling and hunting continued when i returned.
I have since found that this must be linked to the bluetooth. I say this because while the wifi is hunting/cycling i flip off the bluetooth and the wifi reconnects within seconds. I tested this more and with bluetooth disabled i have no wifi problems at all, but with bluetooth on, its gives my problems.
The second issue is the bluetooth its self. unlike my flawless desireHD, i can only stream music to my car head-deck, when i get a phone call, the music cuts out like it should, but the phone audio doesn't happen, been like that from the get go. wifi was a problem all the time because this dodgy bluetooth was on all the time so i could listen to music in the car and hopefully one day take calls in the car also.
well i have good news for me, today i flashed CleanROM.3.Standard .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655011
Today for the first time I can take calls over bluetooth in the car. this is good news because i was certain this was a hardware issue, even it it is, i am confident it can be resolved in the software now.
I'll do a few drive-by's my house tonight to test this wifi, see if that got resolved also. I'll let you know the result later.
I tell you all this in-case our issues are the same, it might save you some time... maybe.
good luck with, and check that bluetooth theory because i'm dying to know if its a common problem.
Cheers
Thank you for that very detailed post.
I also have bluetooth running (connected) to my car and it works flawlessly but it may be a cause for the WiFI staying connected as well. I will turn it off and see how it goes as the week progresses and keep this updated as well.
I would also like to flash clean rom but I am using the Rogers variant so I am worried it might not be compatible.

This has been a known problem since the HOX has been released.

First reaction: It's not a glitch, that's just really good WiFi...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I did those drive-by's......
Me again...
I did those drive-by's of my house, unfortunately there is no joy for me, still the WiFi behaves the same as before.
Its funny, down here we have assumed that the X is the same as the XL apart from the cpu. But in reality they are two completely different machines.
So I turned off Bluetooth and the problem does not occur anymore, WiFi disconnects as needed but it is obviously not a permanent fix. Another problem is the WiFi being on and off with 5 bars swapping between 4G and WiFi...
CleanROM again......
OK, I was doing some more reading and have since found that the developer of CleanROM has released a GSM patch so the hotspot on his ROMs now work.
You might remember i said earlier in this thread that CleanROM.3 worked best for me but the hotspot didn't work so i couldn't use it.
Now i have CleanROM installed again, Hotspot works, bluetooth both Audio & Phone work, and the WiFi at this stage seems to be doing what it should without having to manually toggle the bluetooth on and off. No apparent bugs to report at this stage.
Software Info on phone says this version is built around 1.29.728.12. I don't know if that means all ICS version of that number are good or not, but again its a place to start. Its looking like some versions have the issue and some don't, this re-assures me that it can be resolved within the software. I don't mind testing this stuff, as long as the developers don't mind developing it, and its a good learning curve.... its all good.
Check this CleanROM work out, it could be your answer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655011
I'll check back in in a day or so and update you on my WiFi situation.
Cheers!
Thanks again for all your research and assistance.
I have the Rogers variant, should be no problem flashing it to CleanROM correct? Also, for each new CleanROM update, I would have to wipe and flash again? Seems troublesome.
Can you advise on the process required to flash the ROM? I am new to Android and the steps in the thread is not as comprehensive.
Many thanks.
hi there, show you how to load roms, thats a big job for me....
...I'm new to this myself, but i know a tutorial that will save me a ton of typing.
you need to do 2 things first, before flashing roms.
1,Unlock your bootloader
2,Install clockworkmod
have a look at this ,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647272
Study this thread, very helpfull. He explains how to install clockworkmod on your device, once you have that done you are 80% there, and you only have to do this process once, once done, flashing roms will always be the last 20%, you never do this again.
Infact flashing roms and backing up your own rom is a very simply task. the commands are on a list, just choose them as you go. To backup, wipe, and flash a new rom takes me less than 10 minutes.
Go to you tube and look at this, this shows you how Clockworkmod works.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOQEmQYFEeY
dont be freaked out, take it step by step, you'll be fine.
I also started this thread, regarding working roms for this wifi issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27585586#post27585586
no one has replyed yet, but it might yeild helpfull info later on perhaps
Thanks, I will do this shortly. Will unlocking the bootloader or doing any of the aforementioned steps give me the tampered signature?
Yes
yes, your phone will be marked.
Boot loader will be marked "Unlocked" , even if you relock it, its just gonna say "relocked" . nothing you can do about that.
The boot loader will also say "tampered" if you update the rom, but that msg dissappears completely if you update the phone via an RUU.exe
Can this hurt me with regards to warranty requests? I know I can remove the tampered status by flashing a stock ROM but I am concerned re: bootloader.
