Backlight auto dimming stopped working :( - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey guys
I have this weird problem with the LCD backlight since I upgraded to the new AT&T stock ROM (5.11.502.2 WWE)
Usually the backlight is supposed to dim down after 30sec and then turn off after the specified time set in (start/settings/system/power/advanced). Now suddenly this stopped working correctly. The screen just turns off completely after 30sec, no matter what I change the control panel settings to.
I found the registry key (HKCU/ControlPanel/Power/Display) which is set to 30 seconds so yeah, I can increase that to make the screen turn off later, but I want the dimming back!
Where is it defined *WHAT* is supposed to happen after these 30 seconds?

No one?
Am I the only one here with a stock rom? LOL

My Fuze light sensor doesn't seem to be working correctly either. It's not the same problem, though. And I'm not really sure if mine stopped working right after the new ROM or after I installed Diamond Tweak and Advanced Config.
There used to be a noticeable change in the backlighting when moving between different ambient lighting conditions but now I don't notice anything. If I cup my hand over the light sensor, the backlight stays the same whereas before it would dim a little and then brighten up again after removing my hand.
Can anyone tell me what the default registry settings for it are so I can see if either DT or AC did something?
Thanks.

How can you tell if your light sensor is broken?

Ive tried putting my phone in auto brightness before, it always stays really bright. And then if I turn off auto brightness and set it to the lowest setting, it sometimes jumps back to brighter settings.
Well, I flashed the new JH3 rom yesterday and quite a few people in the JH2/3 threads said that the light sensor works much better, I set mine to auto brightness and I get nothing, it literally doesnt auto adjust AT ALL... So I downloaded two apps, light sensor and ProximityLightTester. Light Sensor just says "no value", and proximityLightSensor... well it was jumping from 6 to 5000 (literally, just those two values) with lots of lag between bringing it into light/taking it in a pitch black room. Now it just says no value as well... I have 1 week before the thirty days is up
Ideas/help?? Im just not sure if these apps are made to work with captivates and if that is the reason its not working
These apps don't work for me either so don't deal out about that. Unfortunately that's all I can help you with
Huh... well good to know. But if you set your phone to auto brightness and put your hand over the light sensor, does the screen get dim? I mean, I assume it would, but mine doesnt.

[Q] light sensor doesn't work?

Hello everybody. Firstly I'd like to sorry but my English is poor. Ok, so what's going on? One day I saw that 4 touch buttons don't have backlight. So I tought it could be that light sensor. I've gone to the display settings and I set up auto brightness. And nothing has changed... No matter where I go, brightness doesn't change at auto. And this no backlight of 4 touch buttons... My question is: what it could be? What is wrong with my HTC? Could it be software issue or rather hardware?
the autobrightness setting your messing with is for the backlight of the screen, not the 4 buttons. as for the 4 buttons, what kernel and rom are you on? newer xe kernels have brightness setting for the buttons (if its bright outside itll turn off, if its dark then itll turn on). does the backlight of the 4 buttons never work or just sometimes?
I use stock 1.50~~ ROM with stock htc kernel. Sometimes (as now for example) 4 buttons backlight works, sometimes not, it's lottery... Now there is working also light sensor. I woke up today and it has been working, but since monday to yesterday it didn't work. Strange issue...
Try check tour sensors with androsensor from Market/Google Play.
It shows you whats sensors do work.
Light sensor is at the top left hand side of the phone at the front beside the speaker. Put your thumb over it and see if the buttons light up. If they do light sensor is working!
My sensors are still not working to all the time.
I did edit the build.prop with this line at the botten:
ro.mot.buttonlight.timeout=0
Reboot 2x
Wich helped .
But now its gone again,it drives me nuts
There is shortcut for light sensor check, for example on Samsung i9001 I can use *#*#0588#*#* - Proximity sensor test
hope this can help

And what should happen ?
Tried it,nothing.
Thanks tho.
Do you have it in a case? I put mine in a gel case and although it didn't appear to block the sensor I was finding that when I finished a call the screen didn't light up again. I trimmed the case so that it had much more clearance around the sensor and it works well now.

Is your proximity sensor working during calls?
Not for me
(Ps.factory reset in total dark worked till reboot)
Did anyone figure this out?
I bought a used phone for a great price but my light sensor and proximity sensor dont work. Confirmed with androsense.
I would really like to just have the buttons light up all the time when the screen is on. Anyone know how to make that possible?

[Q] Remove screen dim just before timeout/lock? (voodoo colour issue)

I've looked at past threads, but found no resolution to this.
I'm running voodoo colour with deep black settings and everything looks great, except right before the screen times out it will dim to its lowest setting and force the amoled panel to turn a sickly yellow/green hue.
I would like to disable the dim aspect and just let the screen time out by shutting off completely. Is there anyway to do this? I'm running the latest version of Pixel Rom with Air Kernel 4.2. I don't have auto-brightness enabled.
i am having the same issu i dont have to yellow tint in low light
but still i whould like to disable the dim it is disturbing my daily use of the device
i too dont see any point for this time out before the screen turns of
and i cant understand why when plying a game i need to touch the screen every 25 sec to get rid of the dim
thanks
I remember seeing something about auto-brightness light sensor tweaking back when I was using NV rom last year but I don't know if that would apply or not.
Does anyone know if the custom apps on the market avoid this?
edit: Tried Tasker for a full screen-off solution, and a bunch of other apps. Wasn't able to get the results I wanted :I
I have a Samsung Captivate and I am running a kernel with voodoo color support with this same issue.
The first post of this thread shows a possible solution - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002090
I flashed the pixel os android 10 in my redmi note 7 and now i am facing screen lock issue my phone does not accept any screen lock that i am trying to apply on it plzz help me

[Q] Is the Auto-Brightness Functionality wonky on the Nexus5?

Not sure if this is a Nexus5 or Android issue ...
Not sure if this is because I'm moving from an AMOLED to a IPS LCD ...
but I find the Auto-Brightness less of a function and more of a roller coaster ride.
- At home, in a well lit environment, the phone defaults to max brightness, which doesn't seem correct.
- In a dark room, upon wake of the phone, it correctly selects a lower brightness, yet will randomly ping up to max brightness, then settle back down.
The screen on the Nexus5 is absolutely gorgeous, but it just can't seem to select and lock onto the proper brightness level with respect to ambient light.
Is anyone else experiencing auto-brightness wonky-ness? Are there any potential fixes?
Everyone AFAIK suffers from it on nexus 5.
I have a horrible feeling it's a hardware fault, as none of the other Google devices on kitkat have this issue.
yeah the auto brightness seems to be too aggressive, but i'm sure custom roms will have the ability to tweak the auto brightness settings. i think even gravity box has some tweaks for the brightness
If you download Android Sensor Box, you can check the Light sensors. I think it may be bugged with Halogen lighting (correct me if I'm wrong). My home is ~ 18 years old, and we have some bulbs that have not been changed yet (yellow). Sometimes when I use my N5 under those lighting, the sensors go whack and don't register properly picking up 0lx, then spike up to 30000lx. Once I move to areas in the house with newer bulbs, the sensors work normal, picking up the right readings. I'm not sure if it's a rom issue or hardware issue, but my cousin also has a N5 and his worked fine. I tried flashing a new rom and mine still acted up fresh after boot (1st app installed after fresh flash was Android Sensor Box to test).
As a rule I don't use auto brightness. Just get something like lux or install exposed and enable a mod to let you adjust it by sliding your finger across the notification n shade. Easier and faster.

I find that autobrightness will auto-turn on, even when i don't want it to.
There is something funky about it, I can either make the phone too dark (using lux) or too bright (using default settings)
I'm still not happy.
Tried Lux, tried adjusting the brightness tables via Gravity Box, used Twilight (to dim at night), no matter what, N5 just wants to be at full brightness all the time!
I had my Nexus 5 in the cinema the other day. The phone was sat in the cup holder by the chair for the most part of an hour when I quickly replied to a text. On turning the screen on it was on full brightness and what's worst is it took around 10 seconds for it to go down. There is definitely something not quite right with it.

Hi, I have been experiencing this as well, so I attempted to fix this at ROM level. The solution requires Xposed framework, so it works only on rooted devices (related discussion).

Proximity and light sensor stops working

Hi all, after updating to Android L (5.0 and 5.0.1) I've noticed that the ambient and proximity sensor will stop working after a certain amount of time. The time appears to be random at the moment. It started off with the adaptive brightness not working correctly, it would always be near max brightness in the dark and minimum in bright light, and at some points it would just stop changing altogether. So I decided to get lux autobrightness, it works better than adaptive brightness in L, but it would also stop adjusting itself after awhile.
Then I noticed that sometimes during a phone call, the phone's screen will not turn off so at the moment I decided to check the sensor's value with an app when the auto brightness/proximity wasn't working anymore. Turns out that the sensors are all registering 0 values or not changing it's readings despite being in different light conditions.
A reboot fixes this but, it's really annoying having to reboot the phone once a day.
Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT: nvm, found out that other people are experiencing this as well. Haven't been on xda for awhile and forgot how to use the search button
