Windows Media playlist & Opera bookmark problem... - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, need some more help again.
How do I import the WMP playlist on my PC to my HTC Touch Pro running WM 6.1?? No matter what i do, the Windows Media Player on the phone just doens't detect the playlist at all. What I did was, simply copy & paste the playlist created on my PC to my phone, then I load up Windows Media Player on my phone and tried to find and locate the playlist, but it doesn't show up.
2nd problem is, I want to import all my Opera bookmarks from my PC to the phone. I know the default location for the Opera folder is here:
main memory/Windows/Opera9
and the bookmark is saved as opera6.adr. I'm familliar with all this as I use Opera on the PC for a long time already. So, I imported the bookmark from my PC to Windows/Opera9 and then load up Opera on the phone and chose "Favourites", and sure enough my boomarks showed up but not all of it. In fact, it's kinda screwd up, it shows the 4 of the same folder with the same content, and the other folders and bookmarks aren't there.
I.e, it doesn't show all my bookmarks, barely all of them actually, only a few.
BTW i have also looked at this page here and did everything but still the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468835

Don't want to make another topic so i'll just append my new problem here, since my phone is in chinese, most of the apps are in chinese as well.
I want to keep the phone in chinese but use most apps in english. For most 3rd party apps, they are installed in english OR they have the option to let you choose what language to install as, which is great.
BUT, for Google Maps, it doesn't have the option and when i installed it, it's in chinese.......i downloaded from the Google Maps homepage which is english but it just shows up as chinese on my phone.....
is there a way to fix this? Maybe changing the registry code so that it shows english?? I think some 3rd party apps will automatically set the language according to the phone's default language.......that's probably why...

t9 Navigation in windows mobile

I have been using my vox since last three months and have updated to Dr. Gonzo's 1.1 ROM which is fantastic. I find that windows mobile has built in support for t9 search for contacts only.
I also use a nokia s60 3rd editionFP1 phone. There I use an application called skyequikey which searches contacts, mails, installed apps, games in t9 mode. Recently, another app came out named t9 Nav which searches anything which is there in the phone starting from contacts, mails, installed apps, games, media files, bookmarks, calendar entries, etc etc. in t9 mode.
Both are marvellous piece of softwares.
My query is does anybody knows whether similar software exists for windows mobile ?

Win Mobile 6 stopped playing .mid files

Hope I'm posting the right forum -I didn't see any trouble-shooting here.
This is darn strange. There are several possible causes.
After some research in these forums, I recently edited the registry and loaded some cool stuff for my T-mobile Wing: S2U2, Homescreen PlusPlus, Icontact, Nitrogen (media player), .netCF 3.5, a few games, and such. But no ROM flashes or what I would consider major hacks...
In the process, I got SCREWED the first time I used activesync (ERASED all contacts + appointments on my phone without asking). Apparently this is the default for activesync. Wow -that's a whole other thread.
Fortunately, I had backed up my contacts to the SIM, so I manually restored them.
Eventually I go resetting ringtones for my contacts (a mix of .mid's and .mp3's), and while shuffling through them, midi's just stop playing. The files are still shown, but no sound when you select them...? (mp3's still work fine)
Now here's the fun part --I can *still* play .mid files in Windows Media Player...
ANY clues here?
I know on my PC, there is a separate volume control for midi... Is there a way to check the midi drivers in Windows?
Tmobile Wing
Windows Mobile 6.0
Update
Looks like several others have had this problem.
Looking deeper into the forums I found this link to add midi support for BA wm6...
//forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=180290&d=1240736694
Tried out the cab file on my phone -no help...
-still no solution
Tmobile Wing
Windows Mobile 6.0
Fixed
Strange fix for me...
After looking at *elementary* kind of intructions for "how do you set up ringtones on your storage card," I tried going through these one more time...
I navigated to storagecard/mydocuments/myringtones and held the pointer on a .mid file for 3 seconds -the menu comes up all in English except for where it should say "set as ringtone" it says something in a foreign language (German I think -hard to tell with abbreviations)... I click that option, and it returns (in english) with the result that the .mid file was set as my ringtone.
I exit file explorer and go to settings/phone to see if the ringtone is set. The .mid file is indeed set, and when I click play -IT PLAYED...
So then I tried setting .mid ringtones for individual contacts, and all was back to normal... Everything works again...
Conclusion: it must have been something I installed, vice a registry edit which caused the temporary loss of midi ringtones...
Found the cause
After a Hard Reset (due to other problems) I replicated the loss of midi ringtones...
The culprit was Icontact -if you install while there are already outlook contacts on your phone (seems fine to have contacts on SIM card). Not sure why this interrupts midi ringtone functionality...
Correct install order should go:
1 Backup contacts (I used PPCPIMBackup --works great)
2 Delete all contacts (hard reset did this for me)
3 Install Icontact
4 Restore contacts
5 Midi ringtones should still work
6 Side note --it looks like Icontact takes care of the problem with SIM contacts and outlook contacts being displayed together in outlook, so no need to do the registry edit ordinarily used to solve that problem...

Anyone who can help with this issue?
Open the Bookmark-URL in Internetexplorer and let the page be loaded fully. Then close Explorer and preview will be showed. Works not on all pages but most of them
Good luck
This is how I did it.
This worked on my Miri ROM. When I click on a blank internet tab shortcut it takes me to the Opera 9.7 bookmarks even after making Opera 10 my default. I had to switch back to 9.7 as default and set all of the sense tab shortcuts with images generated.
When you do this it creates a number of image files in the Windows/Thumbnail sub-directory with long coded names. It also creates an .icn file in Windows/Opera9/profile/Images, named as the www url name of the shortcut.
You then switch back to Opera 10 as default and Opers 10 uses the page image shortcuts. You can edit the Windows/Thumbnail images and save the new image with the same name and you will get the new thumbnail image directed to the same url it was originally associated with.
Set 9.7 as default in Settings/Advanced. You need to re-install 10 to set as default as it only asks on install.
The long coded names change with each assigned url. I do not know how they are generated or how they relate to the .icn files. If this process was known it might be possible to change the shortcuts without reverting back.
If your original default browser was IE you may have to do the same, but roll back to IE not 9.7.
I can only say this worked on the Miri ROM.
Opera Mobile 10 has a big advantage, it can sync bookmarks, speed dial icons and history with any Opera Link enabled desktop Opera. It's enough to use a portable version, that can import IE favorites as well. On top of that the password file (wand.dat) is also compatible.
I find it much more convenient to manage this data on my PC and then sync it to the PDA.

myBookmarks import not working, nor myBackup Pro, is AT&T trying to run my life?

I'm trying to get my bookmarks restored from myBookmarks Pro. Normally (on any other Android phone I've ever had), you upload the Firefox Bookmarks HTML Export file to www.rerware.com and then on your device it downloads them to my device, adds them to Web Browser and all is fine.
Now with the Infuse it's adding them, but I can't see them. In other words, when I go into my bookmarks in the browser, it only shows the 4 ATT bookmarks they force on me (which I don't seem to be able to delete - grrrr), but not the ones I just imported. But if I begin to type the bookmark name or press search and type the site I want to go to, it's go the bookmarks based on search result, but I want them in the bookmarks list.
Seems like AT&T is somehow controlling my bookmarks... Ideas?

[How To] Export Bookmarks from chrome to Dolphin

The objective of this thread is to be able to get the chrome bookmarks (desktop) into the dolphin hd browser (on the device).
I know that there are already apps that do that (syncing process). But, although they are not all paid, none of them really did what i was expecting and was a hole lot of trouble.
What were going to be doing is to "pass" the hole chrome bookmarks into the dolphin hd.
Theres no auto-sync function. Hell...actually theres no sync at all...its kind of a weird solution to be able to export the bookmarks.
so let me start by saying that the "idea" on how to do this came from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459360
in there, user wifesabitch exported the bookmarks (.html) and then transfer it to the boat browser in the phone and restore the bookmarks.
So, i took the same idea, but with my mind set in the dolphin browser.
First you have to export your bookmarks in your chrome.
1- Open chrome
Then do ---> Customize & Control (the tool logo on the upper right corner) ---> Bookmarks ----> Bookmark Manager
In Bookmark Manager go to Organize and click on the option "Export Bookmarks to HTML File"
Choose a path, name, and accept.
Ok. So now we have our hole collection of bookmarks in our nice little desktop...now what?
2- Go to your android. Open dolphin, and go search for the add-on (you can do that from the same browser) called Bookmarks to SD. Install it.
Great!. were almost there....
Now, using any file explorer, you can go to "SD/TunnyBrowser" (the dolphin folder) and youll see a new folder created there...called ...."Bookmarks". (really original...)
3- connect the android to your desktop. and copy the .html file from chrome inside that folder (SD/TunnyBrowser/Bookmarks)
4- open the newly installed add-on / app / whatever you wanna call it... (Bookmark to SD)
And youll have a few options. Go to Import. then mark in "dolphin browser" and click import.
It will ask you wich file you wanna import (you can have different ones). Choose one. and accept.
5-There you go!. you can go and check all your chrome bookmarks but within the dolphin browser.
Doas this mean that i have to do the same $"$"#$"#"#$#&T#%$&% process all over again everytime i wanna sync?
Yes. :S
Do you feel funny having to do all this mess for a simple little thing like importing bookmarks. And yet, there are ppl who can program NASA stuff?
Yes. :S
But. Hey..it is what it is.
If this help you guys, Awesome. I know that this is probably a really dumb stuff for this forum, but, i reallllllly search and could not find anything, so may be some of you can feel good having a nice simple way to do that.
I know it was good enough for me
Have Fun.
You know it REALLY burns me up that Dolphin cant have a "import bookmarks from file" option. If they really want to be taken seriously as a web browser, then they need this option.
Hell I bet internet explorer 2.0 had it, but in 2012 we still need to jump through all these hoops just to import some goddamn bookmarks.
(yes I am angry)
So here's what I do. Manual but less steps, perhaps. Works for me. Your mileage may vary.
I export my bookmarks from Chrome.
Upload the file to Dropbox.
Set the Dolphin HD home page to the Dropbox file.
When I want to update the bookmarks file, all I have to do is repeat the first two steps above. I'm running on a Mac and use a utility called Hazel that basically all I have to do is create the export and Hazel does the rest for me. Basically takse all of 15 seconds form to update the file on Dropbox.
Now when I hit the 'Home' button, I see a web page with all my links.
Hope this helps provide another way to accomplish the same thing that may be better suited to others.
I finde another solution. Just imported my Firefox bookmarks as .html file. Copied it to my phone. Opened it with Dolphin. It opens it as a list. And I added that listed page as bookmark.

Thanks! Half works for me, I had installed "Bookmarks to SD" previously but it was just throwing up a whole bunch of error. Thanks for the pointer about the "Bookmarks" directory with the "Tunnybrowser" directory.
Still, after churning for a while, I got a page saying "ERROR", nothing else. This is one nasty piece of work in my book. And the fact that in this day and age, you can't sync bookmarks between browsers? The alternatives are $ based subscription service like XMarks and CMarks?
Sorry for my rant.
Not working for me on GS3 JB rooted
Thanks to the OP for getting this going.
I tried the first post directions, but checked for the 'Booksmarks' folder in TunnyBrowser, but it was not there after installing the 'Bookmarks to SD' add-on for Dolphin.
I'm not sure if something has changed with Dolphin or the Add-On since the original post, but wondering why I don't see the 'Bookmarks' folder in sdcard/TunnyBrowser
I even created the Bookmarks folder and pasted an exported Chrome .html file in it, but 'Bookmarks to SD' will not find/see it.
Anyone else have this issue? workarounds?
Try Dolphin Connect from Chrome Web Store. I just started using this, and my bookmarks are totally synced now between Chrome and Dolphin.

I confirm : it works fine !
I have deleted "chrome" which is a verry nice browser, but too "big" (>65Mo and not movable to Internal SD nor External SD)
Perfect Solution!

Yes I am.
Have spent far too much time trying to get my bookmarks from Chrome to Dolphin without success
The sync between Chrome and Dolphin seems to be working okay.
Even have a Chrome bookmark folder showing in the Dolphin bookmarks list.
Inside are 3 files, Bookmarks Bar, Mobile Bookmarks and Other Bookmarks.
Only problem is, they are all empty.

Hi Rob,
I did download the Dolphin Beta version from the Play Store yesterday. But having exactly the same result, except there are no Chrome folders showing. Not certain what build this Beta is, as I can find no number anywhere. However flash has been disabled and it won't allow to be enabled.
The desktop Chrome is showing a link with Dolphin and even tells me how many bookmarks have been sent along with history.
Dolphin tells me it syncs okay and the download was successful. However, I cannot find the sent bookmarks anywhere in Dolphin,
I can receive a current Chrome desktop page that has been sent to Dolphin.
So, could try your source of Beta if you have the link please.
Thanks, Mike
