Haven't tested it yet. Maybe it will be useful for some people here...
I wonder, aside from the Tmobile apps, what if any changes in this rom from the traditional Magic rom.
Just flashed it to my Rogers (don't do this unless you rebuilt the boot.img) and it seems very snappy! It's pretty stock though.
Edit: Eeeww...Google keyboard...

Might have something to do with why it felt to fast. But all them T-Mobile apps kinda kill the experience. Mind you, if they were edited out it would make a perfect lite rom for anyone that likes apps.

Not on a Rogers phone unless you like watching the Rogers logo.
I can post a ported version if those of you with Rogers Magics wanna play around with it. Just don't be surprised when some of the apps don't work (IM is a good example).
I have the Vodafone Magic, I will still need your rebuillt image? thanks again

Just extract one from Fatal1ty's ROM, if you don't have one that is accessible.
I copied the wlan.ko from fatal1ty rom to c:\tools and tried to push it, it looks like it got copied, but still doesnt work,
Alright so here's a version for the 32A people (I know this sounds stupid, but Rogers roms do work for you folks, right? I've never made the connection between the two ). Sorry it took a bit but I tried to fix as many of the little bugs as I could.
http://rapidshare.com/files/252457693/MyTouch3G-Rogers-signed.zip
Some notes:
-First boot takes a really long time (they have no boot logo so this is probably why)
-All apps are left in (voice search and dialer are there by default, and it's a Google experience rom so no Exchange)
-Contains edited apnsettings, AudioPara4, and wlan.ko for Rogers (wifi still doesn't work, I guess T-Mobile is choosing to be difficult now)
Other then that, have a ball folks.
help please
i installed this rom on my spare google ion the wifi, bluetooth and rotation dont work can some please rebuild it to work on these phones i would myself but cant with my very limited computer. thanks i would greatly appreciate it if some can help me out

Paul,
What did you change to get Compcache working? I'm already running 3.9.5 on my 32B and don't really want to reflash just for the sake of being able to push a couple of modified files
Cheers
So this is with cyno 3.9.5 kernel right?
i think i can read better than you
What's the difference between this port and the jerpelea (or something) port?
isnt this the same as jerpleas port?
Same as Jerpelas and all the other 'ports' that use the trick I found of renaming init.trout.rc in boot.img to init.sapphire.rc.
I've asked a couple of the devs to include this file by default to avoid the plethora of threads here that are just dream roms which pretty much anyone can get running in a couple of minutes.
At the moment the 'real' development work is mainly in the dream forum, lucky for 32b owners they run perfectly 32A, wait for the ports
Waiting for the Drizzy/JAC new hero port tonight - it's meant to be damn fast, and they think they can get it to 'cupcake' speeds
re: posts above...
Correct, it's using Cyanogen's kernel (hence compcache functions correctly).
Correct, it's for 32B.
Correct, it's using a tweaked boot.img with a renamed RC.
I think it's a valid post because not everyone has the ability / time / inclination to download the ROM, extract the boot.img, rename the file, rebuild the boot.img and then resign the resulting zip.
As always, I created this for my own use and thought i'd share!
I also have asked Cyanogen (via Twitter) to include a sapphire.rc in future revisions. Here's hoping!

Thanks guy
compcache is working, wifi wont start.
I'm pretty sure that jerpelea had to get a different wlan.ko for it to work on his.
This just keeps looping on the Android splash screen. Is it because I am using Amon_Ra's 1.2 recovery???
I am using 1.2 and had no troubles.
Just WiFi wont start.
I have tried replacing it with the wlan.ko from jerpelea's rom.
It doesnt like it.

I dont get it! I had similar problems with newer Cyanogen build than what I am on. Also the QTek rom does the same.
It seems to me that any ported ROMs which all you supposedly need to do is run 'update.zip' fail with a boot loop for me.
I don't know why it's only with ported ROMs though..... It's driving me mad!!!

Just out of curiosity, when you have system images but not the boot images or recovery images... what can you do with the system images and what do they include i.e. apps, widgets, framework, etc? I'm thinking of learning on how to cook and develop roms. Unfortunately my degree is in networking, so I do have some learning to do.

"should" not be since Blur is not a hero based rom. is still 1.5 based.
so technically, led's wifi and BT should work, but, it's from motorola.. so...

let them cook the rom before you start asking questions like that.
I'd think a ROM based from a Motorola phone would be even less compatible than Hero..
Anyway, I'd rather have a Blur/AOSP mix rather than a Blur/Hero mix.
Using dsixda's rom kitchen and with some trial and error with a few other roms I ran into some luck with KiNgxKxROM Sense Hybrid v2.3.
It's a bit of a pain to get past the setup screen (or at least for me) so you just have to have some patience.
What doesn't work:
Wi-Fi (I need someone with some experience to help with that if you don't mind)
Camera
Anything else that we might discover
What this does have:
It should have everything that the original rom has
Bluetooth works
Multitouch browser
Anything else that we might discover
Requirements
A rooted MyTouch 1.2 device (duh!)
SDCARD with fat/swap/ext3 partition (not sure if 2 or 4 works... haven't tested. Let me know)
A complete wipe (dalvik-cache, data, ext partiton)
A little patience.
I had it freeze up a couple of times on me so this is far from perfect but it might be a start to someone that wants to rip it apart and try it for themselves, upload it and I'll update the link for a more perfected version.
And please don't ask:
[Q] "Why are you posting a Cupcake 1.5 rom up when we're expecting Eclair at anytime now?"
[A] Because it just so happened to work. Okay?
But therein may lay the problem with the stability. A 1.6 kernel with a 1.5 rom would very likely tend to cause some issues... but I don't think it's half bad since it's my first ported rom.
So if any mouth-breathers wants to get all hyper about this not being perfect release I'll invite you to give it a shot. I intend on experimenting with more to see what I can get to work. In the meantime, this is a start I think.
I'm hoping that someone can help me figure out the wifi and camera issues so that we can have this closer to completion. Other than those I think this is pretty much finished. Unless someone discovers something that I didn't with my entire 15 minutes of playing around with it.

Most Hero roms are pretty laggy. You have to enable swap to get it to smooth out. I'm playing with a few more right now. I'm trying to find a decent 1.6 and 2.1 Hero roms that work.
alright i enable swap its some wat smoother but still alittle buggy i think its because of the kernel

Okay... the reason why the touchscreen doesn't work is because there is a boot.img in that zip file. Inside the boot.img is the kernel which allows the wlan.ko for the wi-fi to operate. Even if I was to just use those files (that is without the boot.img) it still more than likely won't work. It would likely bare the same results. Does your bluetooth work still?
yup works 100% percent ill try to edit the port so the touchscreen works, if i have any sucess ill tell u

Your problem is that the Deport file is a kernel. So you are flashing a non working kernel over our working kernel. Thats why there is no touch. To get the wifi working you gota push a wlan file from another rom.. but then it normaly takes out bluetooth.
EDIT- Ooops.. Its a 1.5 rom.. Think Ill say NEY lol
Hi Guys,
This dialer skin was working on my last rom which was 1.66 but in this new on the dialer itself works fine with numbers etc..
But once you dial out the keys are all jumbled and out of place and the Keypad and Endcall keys are overlapping stuff.
Does anyone know how to fix it.
You can solve your problem with this link, there are two cab files for hd2, one for stock rom, the other one for custom rom.
First uninstall yours and then install the other one.

2 METHODS OF PORTING BELOW posted by INCDOES
MANUAL
(FOLLOWING THE GUIDE BELOW)
&
INCDOES PORTING PATCH

UPDATE:To avoid confusion, this thread was started before the porting patch was released...i chose to leave the MANUAL directions below posted on incdoes blog for those of us that like to know whats going on behind the scenes of the updater.script=what the patch is doing

CAUTION:
This is not recommended for the ave everday user/know nothing/no time to fudge with my phone crowd...
that being said, now for the fun stuff
i take no credit for any of this other than typing(incdoes leaked most of these port bases). i am just posting links to roms i found in inc forum with the instructions for porting to evo from incs blog. just trying to initiate some more rom development. i am still trying to decide which i will be working on...but this is open source so i just put it here for evo users/devs to view and get porting

(hybrid by mmmark111)
HOW TO PORT INC ROM TO EVO
-excerpt from incdoes blog-
Okay, to run an INC ROM on your EVO would be simple. There will be a few broken 'stuff' e.g. bt, wifi etc... but easy fixes!
First you will need the INC ROM you desire to run on your EVO. Now, if its an "INC Sense ROM" you will need a "EVO Sense Kernel" and if it's an AOSP ROM then you will need a AOSP kernel.
Now there will be a few things you will need to replace on the INC ROM to make it run on your EVO:
~We are going to use a sense 2.2 rom as an example~
"so grab these files from any EVO sense ROM, preferable stock 2.2 EVO"
- boot.img (for your phone to bootup)
- system/usr (for buttons)
- system/lib/hw (for lights)
- system/lib/modules (for wifi)
- system/etc/vold.stab (for sdcard readable)
- build.prop (for market and LED's fix)
please note: some prop files include different edits that can break market/data/network/LED's... but then again, easy fixes!
Now you have an INC Sense ROM and 'all the files listed above pulled from an EVO Sense rom, you will have to add/replace the files pulled from the EVO ROM into the INC ROM, sign the .zip and flash (via recovery).
Should/will bootup if its based on the same firmware i.e. 2.2 INC ROM and 2.2 EVO ROM.

OHHH I wish I had patients!! Quite the opposite actually.....just a really busy life.....but I may try to start tonight anyway .
So im flashing a nexus rom right now, that i switched out all the stuff + threw in a cyanogen kernel.
If this thing bricks...
___________
UPDATE: It booted up, but it doesnt register any touch on the touch screen. LOL.
Hmmm maybe if.. Any ideas guys? I switch some other stuff around too. Maybe i can figure this out...
UPDATE: I flashed netarchy universal kernel and now the touch works, i cant get any signal, i dunno what stuff needs to be switch out from GSM to CDMA.
Wifi WORKS! I dont have a keyboard for some reason, so i cant enter my password to test it but it looks to be fine. And since i have no internet connection i cant get astro to install one from my SD haha.
I flashed over sky raider 3.3 final and every thing is perfect. Theres a uncommon sense patch which I also ported because I remember reading that on the hd Rom the ego didn't like the 4 signal bars. Only thing not exactly right is the camera. It doesn't have the capture button but I can take pics by holding a finger on the screen. Video is a no go due to not having the nature button. This Rom is the smoothest I've used and I'm a flash a holic so I've used them all.
So if I use the flash patch do I need to do any of the other stuff listed in the op(replacing files)?
Sweet Magnus, may have to get back to you details of what i find wrong. But i got a porject due next week for school. I have to record us BMXing this weekend. Then make an edit. If i get that sweet alone time in the eveing, i'll be sure happy to port all three and give findings.
