How many times have you heard a rad song on the internet or on the radio in your car and wanted to download the song to your phone with Amazon and alas...No wifi!
Many of you already have this because I released it on Twitter last night but I have tweaked the Amazon app to allow you to download music over a regular data connection. No more need for wifi....
This tweak was again made possible by JF smali and baksmali applications which can be found here
Here's the apk: Amazon
Make sure you rename the file...take the dash out and put a . in.
You will need to install this with adb simply push it to /system/app and it should do the rest.
adb push com.amazon.mp3.apk /system/app
This should work on all builds.....Enjoy

While I don't really care for amazon.mp3 (actually that's the first thing I do when I flash the rom is delete amazon, voice dialer and IM) but I still would like to thank our XML god for this and HTC Music player hack (which I love and use daily). I think everyone should donate to Stericson immediately because he is the nicest guy around here and his work is used in EVERY rom and EVERY theme. Besides, he has to pay off that fancy wedding of his .
Anywho... If you port dialer and caller ID from hero.... I'll put your picture up in my living room and name my kid after you And I'll donate again too

Exchange sync
Could you apply your considerable talent, smali and baksmali to get Exchange Sync to work on all / most builds? That is an application that I would use. And I think there are a lot of other people who would like to have it as well.
What do you think? Do-able?

Does htc dialer include incoming call screen or is that a separate hack? For some reason I can't find any reference to that
Seperate hack, that uses the phone.apk made by HTC, however I am quite sure I can replicate their incoming call screen, outgoing call screen, and ongoing call screen without too much trouble....but I will probably focus on that later....

Here's a motivation... make it into an app and put it on the market for $X.99, I can bet that you'll hit <1000 downloads in the first 2 days... just sayin
I've seen at least 6-10 people looking for something like this just on XDA.

I was wondering if any one has found a way to push or import the market from 1.6 or maybe even from the 2.x builds. I tried pulling the Vending.apk from 2.1 and pushing it to my phone but it just crashed when i tried opening it, so I'm guessing there is more to it then that.
Sorry that I didn't get a chance to respond to your PM. The market ties in to a whole lot of aspects of the phone, so yea I highly doubt it would be that easy. I'm sure it's possible, but I'm not sure what makes their market better that it's worth it? Care to inform me?
Doesn't the market detect your phone and only load applicabale stuff for you? I would think issues would occur pulling one from a phone that isn't our model.

That info is pulled from /system/build.prop, so it could be modified.
no worries I wasn't sure if the pm had gone through or not but I just wanted the updated ui mainly for aesthetic reasons. I liked the way it looked and it was set up when i had it on my g1. I just wasn't sure if it was possible cause I thought in the Cyanogen mods when he was trying to get donut up in running i thought he had started by importing some stuff into 1.5

i was playing around trying to pull apks from the 2.1 build like the maps app which wouldnt even install and the wiredteether app and to no avail it installed but i kept hetting android.settings force close kept the app running and tethered but im on a mac now so i dunno if the proggy werks on a win machine. i am really interested in getting the maps app i want the navi or to play with it, ocnsidering i have the sprint navi and co-pilot its more of just to play with but im all about testing if anyone wants to put any time and effort into ports pm me or email or gtalk or google wave or if u want a google wave invite i have a few left also when u get a invite u have 8 of your own to send out, also have a extra google voice invite if anyone is in need.

I don't want to burst your bubble but the api flat out will not handle using the new google maps/navigation on 1.5. As for the wired tether that's in the 2.1 rom, it's not a stock app. http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/
Just wondering if anyone has heard of such a thing. With all of the issues with protected apps not showing in the market with some roms, it would be neat if there was an app like the Music downloaders, that let you search and download apks.
Some apps poof from market and it would be nice to have a quick way to find them.
Does SlideME work? I used that back in the vogue android days, but I haven't used it since.. That was just a different market app basically

I honestly don't know. My protected apps all work. And honestly the only times they haven't is because we were using developers roms. It's all fixed now though, and our official obviously won't have that problem.
Search the market for "APKtor." It's an app that'll let you add repositories filled with android apps. It's essentially Cydia for Android. As far as where to get your repositores, you'll need to figure that much out.

Don't want to steer the thread too far off topic, but is this true for all roms, or just certain ones. I haven't been able to spend much time on the forum the past few days, but if there's a complete fix for protected apps, I'll definitely set aside some time to seek it out...
i honestly havent dl'd anything from the market since my g1, cept to go grab linda and get acess to my sd right away...

fresh rom 2.0d.
Can anyone find Digital Clock Widget v1.8 in the marketplace? Says it's copy protected, but it's a free app. I have v1.7.6 and can't find it to update. Found a website with a zip of v1.8, but it's not signed. I signed it, but it won't install because it says it's missing classes.dex.
Also, flipz, is the market fix available as a standalone update? Currently running DCv2.05

it looks like a pretty nice interface from the video on the website, I'm gonna contact the guy so I can donate for it and get to do some beta testing on it. It says only contributors and donators might get their hands on the beta testing right now, so well see.
Live wallpapers will really make a nice visual attraction on our beloved HD2`s!

Are you able to make calls or message? how do you turn the touchXperience on and off? I hv it installed. Looks great
Hi instaled this version, but its not stable, you can add in today screen, just run like a program in start menu, but the experiance its good, i never see one aplication like that, underful touch, but sometimes (most the time) crash...
unfortunately the development this aplication its slow, i donate for a full version and stable...

yes i can do both with out any problem
you can select the custom menu sample to turn it on and on the right upper corner is a menu click on it and you can turn it off

I'm lost, how do you get this to work. I install the cab and the key. I saw it for a moment in the Touch X Xperince \ Sample folder, now when I go back to it, nothing happens?!

The phone, at least the T-Mobile version, comes with some animated wallpapers. Is there anyway to put something in the folder wherever they're stored and use that?
I'm not really sure what file type they are though either.

It took a little time to get everything set up. It would have been up sooner, but I was out of town for work this week and stuck at a hotel with the slowest download/upload speeds in America (seriously downloading ROMs in number of bytes per second).
Glad to be back home and able to get everything else set up and posted. I hope people enjoy.
Tried it with the cyanogen build and i can get to the end but no update is produced to dl... heavy traffic or maybe theres something else going on

It worked just fine for me (I just double checked, using the CM6 ROM for base to be sure). It does take a little while after you click the 'Serve Me!' button for it to come up. Then it takes you to another page, and says 'Preparing your rom..' for a bit, then the download link will pop up.
When the link comes up, it will still say 'Preparing,' even though it is done. The link comes up on the left side the add box below, so it is easy to miss. It will say 'Your rom is ready for download' and provide a link.

Did you upload your own app? If so you HAVE to upload your own app in zip file.

Some of the base roms you have listed have different versions. As an example is OMJ...he has 3 versions (w/kernel, w/o kernel and deodexed). How can we tell which one is part of the program?
If I can make a suggestion, in so many people here like to theme, if a choice is to be made you use the deodexed versions.

Whenever possible, I have included deodexed versions. I didn't know OMJ had multiple versions, so I will check what is there and update the OP to be more specific about versions for that and others (probably in the morning).

To my knowledge the kitchen does none of those things. I know dsixda's kitchen is a bit more in-depth, including those features, but this is a lot more basic. Assume all ROMs default to whatever the original developer has done (so, for example, Fresh Evo does zipalign on load, but the stock ROM does not).

The CM base that is provided is the release candidate. Check the link in the OP for the post. I cannot keep up with the CM nightlies, so the kitchen will likely only be updated with major releases (if there is a RC2, or when the final comes out). Sorry for the inconvenience.

Very cool implementation of the kitchen. Nice work! One of my favorite features is making stock apps uninstallable by moving them to /data/app. Save you the headache of using adb or something like root explorer to manually delete an apk for something you don't want.
Is there any way that explanations of the files could be posted that are shown. The applications may or may not also make sense as they sometimes use internal HTC names. Yes, I know, asking a lot, but it might help those of us who don't know what all the files listed in the first section are for.

E-Fun's latest Android tablet is now on the shelf at BigLots. It's a $99 budget device running 4.0 ICS.
I tried to install Android Market (the easy way) and the app crashes. I take that means this tablet will require a little more work. Has anyone hacked it yet?
I am also interested in knowing how to get Gapps to work on this as well...just purchased mine on the 27th at Big Lots too for the $89.99 special, been trying all apk's with no luck..keeps on crashing when clicking it.
When I sent a note to E Fun asking if there were any plans to update and add Google support, the response was:

I'm pretty sure that was written for Gingerbread, not ICS. The last couple of posts kind of imply that it didn't work on the Next7S.
Your right...besides not finding the USB drives anywhere (as I cannot get the sdk's to work on it) I tried to uploading the files then install and cannot get some of the apks to install, like the GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk, GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk & GoogleServicesFramework.apk all others installed fine. With no luck on keeping the market from crashing boo! I am sure someone will be able to come up with something in due time, I hope.
Look at freaktab.com - Finless Bob has cooked a rooted rom with Google app,Super user and /system mounted r/w.
The download includes all neccessary instructions, files and utility - including driver - for Next7s. There is one clarification that I think will help... To get into the download / flash mode you need to hold down on volume rocker so that BOTH (volume up | down)switches are activated.

It's days like this that I feel somewhat challenged... I'm not seeing the Next7S ROM. Would one of you kind people point me in the right direction? I'm sure it's staring me in the face, but I'm just not seeing it...

Thanks for the link. I just picked up a 7s for my kid yesterday after the Next5 we got him originally quit working. I DLed the Play store APK and was like OMG-WTH every time it kicked us out. The Next5 came rooted (out of a sealed box) and had no issues with Google Play from a standard APK. If you guys have this working on the Next7s (YF031 serial) then I'll flash it.
One thing I find hysterical is on the box it states it is a Capacitive Screen, but my kid used his generic plastic stylus (intended for an older Nintendo DS) and it worked! I even tried a pencil eraser and it worked too. Does that make this a hybrid Capacitive/Resistive screen then?
****Update, I got clarification in the other thread on the two different versions of the rom. All is well, the tablet is now rooted, and is running Google Play on the Finless Rom. Very happy with how quick it was to do as well. Thanks again for the link!
