[ XDA neo ] ---> ROM version / unlock ROM / ext. ROM

Hi, Guys.
I red many Topics, but all are really confuse.
I'll try to make some clear Post with good informations here.
Here i start, with the information i already got:
( please correct me, if i am wrong)
- ROM = The Part where the basic HTC/wm5 firmware is stored.
- ExtROM = The Part where the Provider/Modell specific Informations/Pogramms are stored.
- ROM Versions : There are some ROM Version from private Persons, who they made their own and some orignal version from the Providers.
Tools i found:
- "MobileRegistryEditor.exe" : Nice RegEditor for Destop PC to change PPC registery
- "Unlock Ext Rom Wizard.cab" : Unlocking ExtROM ?!

Now some questions:
- Where can i find the ROM Versions? ( private or orginal )
- Wich tool to use for upgrade ROM Version?
- What can happens, when i upgrade the ROM? ( crash my NEO totally? )
- Wich tool to export the ExtROM?
- Is "unlock" ExtROM and "export" ExtROM the same?
- Do i need to unlock the ExtROM to change some Registery Settings wich normaly tells me "No Access"?
- What is the RadioROM?
- JAMin and iMATE are private ROM version?

Wants and Ways + Why new ROM + How see Informations
Want: Uninstall the Provider specific Tools ( like O2 dialpad )
-> Way: Delete from ExtROM
Want: Disbale GPRS/UTMS
-> Way: Registry ( or ExtROM, too?? )
Want: More Power
-> Way: Overclocking Tool + Registery entries ( like bigger chage and no animated menu) ( + other ROM version, too?? )

The last Way brings me to my second Question. Why mod the ExtROM seems to be clear, but why using another ROM Version? Only because the SPLASH-SCREEN?

And another question for me is, is there any tool, or how can i see all this versions like :
- Rom version
- Rom date
- Radio version
- Protocol version
on my SLPASH i only see this Numbers:

I can not answer all your questions - But if you think your PPC is too slow, get yourself a different Rom ( There are many Topics about this ) or do a soft reset when the ExtRom Cabs beeing installed after hard resetting or rom upgrade...
I installed the newest o2online Rom by now, but without all these specific cab Files installed and the Neo is a little more responsive now.
To Overclock (to be able to run Skype for example) go and download "omapclockv2".

... where can i get a newer orginal ROM? On O2 page i just found the same. (The ROMs includes ExtROM and Radio, too?)
And so the ROMs are only for more performance, like?!

You are righht, this should be the latest O2 Rom, i previously updated to Dopod-Rom which was some days newer.

Many Questions are answered there - I Don`t know much about the Ext.Rom, only that installing them can be prevented with a soft reset aber an upgrade or hard resetting.

Wenn da 50%, hey super great job schreien, dann is das was tolles, aber die anderen 50% die danach n echtes problem haben is es denk ich net wert. Ist denn hier echt niemand in der Lage, mal ne Vernünftige Auflistung/Erklärung zu machen, was GENAU da eigtl. passiert, auf was man achten muss, und welche Möglichkeiten überhaupt alle offen stehen ?!?!

na und? was soll das alles hier?
die meisten fragen sind schon hier im forum beantwortet worden, die anderen antworten muss man sehr wahrscheinlich selbst hearausfinden. wenn jemand so einen grossen angst hat seinen geraet zu flashen und dabei irgendetwas falsch zu machen, so dass dann aus dem schoenen neuen xda neo ploetzlich ein teuerer briefbeschwerer wird, so hat er hier sowieso nicht viel verloren. ob es wert ist oder nicht muss jeder fuer sich allein entscheiden, die informationen gibt es mehr als genug, man muss nur ein bissschen suchen.

WM 6.1 Rom German - i am searching for.....

Hi, i ´m new on the Universal corner.
i am searching for an German WM6.1 Rom and some .cab Files.
First the ROM: 6.1, german, small and fast. in the moment i use Maxstegi 4.7.
also im searching for the Cab files from "Resco Explorer, TomTom incl. Cards for Europe, and Sprite Backup.
Is there a chance to use the cam over Skype?

In Version >=5.0 gibts den Bug nicht mehr. Ist behoben!

in the last days i tried maxstegi v5.0 in comparison with different englisch ROM´s.
I think it´s a small and very fast base vor a good system - but is there a chance to get the soft keyboard in Qwertz instead of Querty?

Well, you must be quite new, too. Otherwise you would have noticed that this question has been asked quite a million times before. And usually people answer the way like: "It depends on what you want and like..."

Nevertheless I am so bold to give you two hints:
1. If you're not sure, use the pre- installed ROM.
2. If you are sure, give Maxstegi's a try. Still, if you don't like it, use the kitchen to adapt it to your needs!

Es gibt nur eines und das heisst maxstegi V5.2.
Hat aber noch immer zu viele Soft Resets. dafür kann man eine Vanilla Version mit der Kitchen ganz einfach selber machen.
Ich benutze Tomal 8.2, kann einfach mehr und läuft stabiler.

But still too many soft resets. This can be a vanilla version of Kitchen simply ourselves.
I use TOMAL 8.2, as more functions are included. And it runs more stable.

Hi, könntet ihr bitte Links zu den genannten ROMs angeben? Ich probiere gerade viel rum und hatte u.a. auch schon die 6.5.3 v4.3 ROM von Nokster drauf, aber ich habe eine deutsche Tastatur und außerdem lassen sich einige Programm nicht im 6.5.x installieren, deswegen möchte ich wieder auf die 6.1. zurück, aber eine angepasste.

First of all, excuse me that I have not translated my post. I just thought that only Germans would read this thread so that it wouldn't make a difference.
Thanks for the tip on universal ROMs, I didn't even know those existed. I took a look at some of them but from those I have checked, they are mostly for WM Pro (touchscreen devices) and quite heavy. Other than that it seems to be a good idea for me to try out some of them but I haven't seen any below the 64MB RAM requirement since the i600 is not equipped with that much power.
Since you happen to have read this, may I ask you if you can tell me how to change the keyboard layout? I have a German built SGH-i600 and I am using the Nokser 6.1 v2 ROM which is only providing the English keyboard mapping. So Y and Z are swapped and most of the Fn+combinations and symbols.
Any help is appreciated.

I've been using xda's ROMs, but he hasn't had time to work on them in a while, so his is still an older build with the old interface. You're ROM appears to be pretty clean as well, which is something I've been looking for. I would try a Cracing ROM, but I don't really want the modified start menu.
I downloaded yours, but haven't flashed it yet... I'll let you know how it goes once I do.

I want to introduce my first own app - getUseage:
This App is for all o2 germany customer who want to see there useage of inclusive minutes/sms/traffic on the homescreen as a widget, because the o2-App doesn´t have such widgets.
The data are the same as on the homepage under "Verbrauchsübersicht (Beta)".
So the main difference to other useage widgets is, that you a see the original o2 stats and that there are no calculation!
Features:
- custom text widget (wildcards for minutes/sms/traffic)
- customizable settings (free minutes/sms/traffic per month etc.)
- widget update via touch
- same data as on the homepage under "Verbrauchsübersicht (Beta)"
Note: It works only for o2 germany customer with an o2 Account and it´s no official o2-App!

i noticed another bug:
I don't know exactly when this is happening, but sometimes I cant update the widget by clicking on the widget, it simply sais "SMS" for example. Only when I open the settings menu and choose "update interval", the widget is updating itself.
could be a deep sleep problem / disconnection of internet ?

Hmmm, can it be that this is only happening when you restart your device (did your device maybe restart it selfs) ??

no, after reboot everythings fine...
another explanation could be, that JuiceDefender interacts, because JuiceDefeder manages Wifi Connection automatically..

The WifiConnection doen´t matter. If there is no Connection the Widgets don´t try to update them self... Do u have the newest version (0.2)??
Maybe JuiceDefeder kills the complete Service and the Widgets... hmm maybe you could test it for a week or something without JuiceDefeder?

I can try, but I don't think it's JD. It happens random, and JD interacts everytime, the screen is off.
Seems as if the widget is shut down, doesn't react on touch...
no i have 0.132,alpha but I don't get an update via play??
BTW: How do you succeed with the "Pro-Version"?

ProVersion: I´ve some problems, but i´m working on it... i think maximal 1-2 weeks!
EDIT: Yes, when there is "SMS" or "Traffic" as text, the widgets have compety restartet, thats the default value...

ok, installed it. i'll give it a try, although I don't see major changes. I don't think, that your update can possibly have something to do with this issue.. well, we'll see,
