haptic feedback in phone dialer?? - G1 Android Development

Can this be implemented easily?

Probably, I like this idea, I'll try to implement it. I like the vibrate on the VK so this would be a nice addition.

Subscribed

with JF releasing his dex dissembler i am looking into implementing this in the htc dialer as well as porting it over to the non-htc framework (although the latter will be much harder)

Thanks for all the support.
I will be releasing an updated version soon which includes some new features, most notably directory recursion...to allow sub directories.
Works very well! Like the Auto and Manual cabs and reg feature.
Keep it up!

HTC Dialer on 1.5

Sorry if this has been covered, but I've lost track between all the new builds sprouting up now.
I've been using Haykuro builds since they were first released and have been on 5.02 since it came out. I've also tested builds from the dude, and the newer 1.5 from haykuro and JF.
My question: Is there a 1.5 build out yet with the HTC dialer?
EDIT: 150 views and nobody knows?
None as of yet. My three favorite featrurees were the CENTERED black transparent lockscreen popup, H camera (if the button worked, but I dealt) and the HTC pull up dialer interface. None of these seem to be transferrable to any of the builds yet except possibly Dude's and even then it is a LOT of crashing to get anywhere near working. Hopefully these features come back. I am a big fan of JesusFreke's work, but I do miss these features a lot.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Smartdialing.... how I miss thee
Just download StarContacts. You get smart dial plus other dialer niceties.
Yeah, I use SmartContacts now aswell. The parsing is much more efficiant and it even takes regional letters such as æåø, which the HTC dialer didn't do.
The only thing that I miss, is that you cannot search by phone number aswell.
The feature I really miss and would like ported is the vibrate when pickup.
You dialed the number and when the other party answered your phone vibrates. It is very nice.
So someone pls make itwork!!!

thanks for the tip, works great.
I search for smart contacts, star contacts, etc anyone have the keywords that'll find the app
been searching -_-
star contact
Oh yeah, duh i hate how googles market search is so restrictive, even though they're the largest search engine today
Haha, so strict need to search contact without the s -_-

I agree about these features. It'll be interesting to see what builds and features come out when the official Tmo build is released.
As for Star Contact, its awesome! Thanks for the tip guys! For now I'm gonna be stubborn and stick with 5.0.2H but eventually I'll give in to the speed of JFs lighter build (even clocked to 528 all the time, the H build is sluggish) and when I do, Star contact will keep me from hating my life.

Anyone need graphic design/layout help?

Here's the deal–I'm a graphic designer who found myself sans job, and have been looking to do some different kind of work to keep from going insane. I have thought about trying to prog my own apps, but java is still a bit over my head. So if there are any devs that could use some design work for apps, wallpapers, or whatever, PM me and we'll go from there. Right now, im thinking this service would be free of charge...
If you really want to, you can even check out my past work here.

Preach on brother. AND it really pisses me off that having a grid of rounded rectangle icons with reflections is seen as the pinnacle of mobile design today.

Suggestion: make mock-up's of some popular apps with better layout and post them. You may get some attention and create a buzz.

This depends on how far you are looking to go. Just icons, full UX?
Perhaps a mockup of a file browser (root explorer for example) would be a good start. They are all quite rudimentary in layout/design but most function well.
Again, this depends on what aspect of design you are talking about.

Ah nice.
I would definitely overhaul a client app that has a TON of downloads in the market. Most devs have zero understanding about layout, nor do they care. File browers/explorers, chat clients, irc clients, etc are all big time offenders.
Just look at the top downloaded free apps and go for one that you actually use. By selecting one you use, the flow through the app is something you are familiar with and fixing/redoing the experience becomes personal and understood.
That's how I would go about it anyways

This is a key part, IMO. Great advice from deprecate.
Also, FYI - I just wanted to let you know that your portfolio is very impressive. As a fellow UI designer, you've got some skills.

Hey, thx for the kind words. Sometimes you can forget what you have accomplished inn the past when times are tough.
I just know that I've used the great stuff you guys have made, and I really want to give back to the community. Since I cant prog worth a damn, graphics is gonna have to be it.
I hope you are able to do some work with Android developers. They really need it.
Get the AppAware app to check out what is most popular and make som mock-ups of those. I'm thinking Twitter (though there are a couple of good ones), RSS reader, Dialer, File explorer, Media player (podcast streamer, video player, youtube! oh good it
s so baaad). Or you could make a base interface that can be used on several different apps.
Right now, I'm looking at Andchat with zer0day. When/if we find an improved layout for him,I'll post it up like I did with the Pandora concept.
How about looking into Meta Morph and theming?
Since everyone wants their phone to look different than the next guys!
You could do some theming of your phone, post screen shots, and get some more buzz that way.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
I'm a UX designer and am willing to help.
Graphic designer + Dev + UX designer = great software

Is there any way to add a vanilla droid slider into the next build? I am not a big fan of the Moto Droid slider.
Is swype enabled on this version? If not, how to we go about getting it back on?
Thanks!

Awesome. Lightning fast, contacts and Google are working great, and I haven't had any lock-screen freezes so far like I did frequently on 2.0. I love the new battery indicator addition.

DUDE! I can't even begin to tell you how good this rom is!!!! It incorporates all the best features,,,minimal moto blur if any,,,black notification bar with actual white lettering which seems to be a hard thing these days for some devs, super fast. I am playing with it now and so far i am finding no bugs at all.
GET THIS ROM NOW AND SUPPORT HIS WORK!
Sweetness....
Matt, this rom is SICK! I just noticed a few of the bugs today with 2.0 and lowe and behold, when i get home you were already on it and had 2.5 out...... MAJOR KUDOS BRO!!! Keep up the WONDERFUL work, and btw...... the black bar is tight as hell.... 640k is a retard, don't change a thing.
Thanks Matt!
Matt downloading now. Will report back after some testing. Thanks so much for all your hard work. I might even have to send you some more money

[APP][4.0+] GMDYO Launcher (Free) 1.2

GMDYO -> GO Make Dis Your Own Launcher (Free) 1.2
This is an alternative launcher as compared to the various launchers on the market. Given the capabilities of the Android system, we felt that more should have been done to improve the user experience. Thus we are doing this differently compared to current launchers available on the market right now. However, in order to ensure that we are able to cater to all of the needs of the users, we are releasing it as we develop it along the way.
Please do let us know what are the things that
- we are doing right
- what needs to be corrected or improved
- what features you want to see in the future releases
- overall are we heading in the right direction
NOTE :
This app is a work in progress and there might be bugs present. Currently, you can get out of the launcher just by pressing the "BACK" key on your mobile. This is done on purpose as we feel that its still too early for it to be a user's daily work horse and more suited to be a showcase instead.
More features are in the pipeline so do expect updates
If you do notice, we do have another version of GMDYO which is paid. However, please do note that there is NO DIFFERENCE between the PAID and FREE version. The reason we came out with two versions is because we feel that not all might want to get the paid version upfront to support the development and we did not like the idea of putting ads in the app and ruin the whole experience and thus, we decided to do it this way. If you can and feel that the app is worth your time, please do help by either getting the paid version or the free version. Do feedback to us anything that you feel that can be improved.
As I'm are currently under 10 posts, I'm unable to post the link to the app. However, a search in Play Store with "gmdyo" should be able to find the app. Will try and hit the target to 10 posts asap. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Thanks for your time!
Sounds interesting, hope you do a good job with it.

suggestions (maybe)
thx for this innovative new style of a launcher!
i have some ideas that would be cool for that kind of concept:
do you know lightning launcher and its way of not using a grid but some infinite desktop space?
if not, take a look at it, it's free in the market.
now think, wouldn't that be a cool addition to the concept of gmdyo?
the creation of much more intense "cities" would be possible and that would enrichen the experience quite a lot.
another idea would be making gmdyo a 3d thing, but honestly, i have no idea how to navigate that thing if it would be 3d...
anyway, thx for bringing up something innovative and new!
greetz and keep up the good work,

Did tried out Lightning Launcher. Think its a great concept with the infinite space! We are planning to integrate more features into GMDYO, 3D is definitely in the brainstorming stage but as we are concurrently doing development for other projects, so progress might be abit slow. Do look out for our other apps as we launch them!
Once again, thanks for your feedback and have a nice day!
