i want to completely delete a file outta my phone,I'm using regieditor to delete it completely because it's still taking up memory space that i need...my phone is a touch diamond by the way....thnx in advance
also,is there an app that will do COMPLETE uninstallations?
you can't change delete or any kind of stuff with files using a regeditor
you can only remove the registry's which is sort of like a big database of
settings for windows mobile and 3th party programs installed
if a file is being used because it's autostarted
then you have to remove the ref that start it
a place to look is \windows\startup
and as you are looking at now remove it from a autostart
in the registry

Hi all, just did a search on the forums, and didn't see anything. So here goes. How do you uninstall intellipad? It doesnt appear in the remove programs bit...does it need doing manually, if so...how would one go about doing thins?
if it start automaticly then looking in windows\startup or what ever that dir is for the shortcut to the program and remove the shortcut and
then remove the files and reg'd it use would be the same thing as what remove programs does
you could also look in the pc activesync's add remove programs if it was installed using activesync
Couldnt find anything to do with it in shortcuts. I think all the program files are residing in the windows directory. Does anyone know which keys from the registry, would rather know for sure rather than guessing?
looking in Windows Directory and there's a lot of file IntelliPad.***
Yes I have seen the intellipad files there, its the registry keys im not sure of.
I installed some demo items into the games folder on my exec. When some failed to run (and crashed the pda) I went to settings/system/remove programmes. The offending items were not listed. So I opened File manager, located the file folders in Program Files and did a straight deletion of the folders.
There is now definately nothing left of these installations.
However, if I go start/programs/games, the icons for the deleted items are still in place.
How can I remove these? I can't see any obvious way to get rid of the icons and a restart has not removed them.
You need to remove the shortcuts from the
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games folder
That should sort it.
Er... thanks
crikey... I must be getting old... I did this via File Manager/Windows/Start/Games and all sorted... cheers!
Why is that if I install an application, but then decided I do not like it a small portion of my space is gone even after the uninstall and a run through with a registry clean-up software. Any way to get this fixed?
Well the best way to get this done would be to use an application that thoroughly cleans out all traces of any installed application from your device. Shortcuts, folders, customizations, Registry entries, skins, upgrades etc. Most uninstallers aren't able to get all that done. I use SK Tools and it works pretty effectively. Gives me all my space back
the main problem is that it doesn't delete some of the files from the /windows folder.
registry keys aren't space consuming (relatively speaking of course).
usually uninstalling an application DOES delete the created folder from /program files/ or wherever.. unless you've put your own files inside the folder and then you need to delete them, and the folder, by yourself.
yeah i deleted the files there too and even used sktools and such but the more space than before is taken.
well, some files are replaced in the windows folder which are necessary to other applications. since the uninstallation of an app can't bring back the old files, it won't delete the necessary files and if they're larger than the old ones.. it'll take some space.
so i guess there is nothing I could do then?

Well! you could do it the hard way. Hard reset the device which will wipe out everything you loaded and install by hand (i.e. not restore from a backup) all the applications you like and want one by one. Obviously not something one would want to do after every trial install and de-install. But after some number of different apps have been tried out and rejected perhaps it is worth the pain.
The programs tab in TF3D allows me to include already installed apps listed in program files and elsewhere. Some apps though, i have installed on my SD card but they arent listed in the program files because either i did a hard reset or some other reason, so without reinstalling them is there a way to include them in the programs list?
If not i suppose a reinstall is in order, some apps though are big and will take a little while to install.
You can create a shortcut to the wanted exe files and then put it in Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Or, if you have Resco Explorer, you have an option to send file to Start Menu when press and hold on file.
Thanks will try this, hope it works
I know at least one of you have installed a program before on your Smartphone that wasn't able to be found in the "Remove Programs" option under settings.
I'm havin' this problem with a program called "TopOCR-Mobile LE."
It was an .exe file that had to be installed on the device. So I did, and now I can't seem to remove it. I deleted the .exe under program files, but the blank icons still remain (there's two of them 'cause I thought I could be smart and run the .exe twice and it'd ask if I would want to remove the program; it didn't - instead it just installed it TWICE).
Is there a way to remove those icons? I already used Regedit's and Total Commander's search features, but I couldn't find any files with the name "topocr" or "mtopocr" (it's installation name).
What are my options (besides throwing my Kaiser against the wall or hard resetting)?
Where exactly do you see those blank icons that you are talking about
programs icons are located in
\windows\start menu\programs
it it's a program which auto start then
\windows\startup
