Samsung GT-i7500 Galaxy HERE ? - General Topics

any chance to have a thread for a Samsung phone under Android here ?
I'm gonna buy one.
thanks

This is an HTC devices only forum, so there won´t be any section for any samsung or others
Sorry but this is the position of the owners of this site, wich I support

Well, you can open a thread under Android, as others do under General, Upgrading... etc, etc... but perhaps no one will support/help you.
I think that this answer is "softer", don't you think?

there are other places like modaco for omnia which rocks so probably there would be some place for android also. And i am sure there will be place for galaxy on modaco.com, so dont worry.

don't forget ... more android devices will come and android develepers will change the phones. And then? They must leave this forum and share the new developments in other forums?
Better give Android HERE a platform Thats NOW your chance
hf

I think exaxtly THE SAME THING
Samsung or HTC Android: same thing for Developpers.....

Welcome to the forum
As long as they are manufactured by HTC, such devices will have a place here, even with Android
If not there are plenty of android sites around the web

why there is a Sony Ericsson X1 phone on the site?
You said only HTC made phone can be in this site then how come there is Sony Ericsson X1 in the site and we cant have Samsung i7500 in the site???

because X1 is manufactured by HTC

Here we go again!
I´ll say it nicely so noobs do not complain of rudness from senior members:
This is an HTC devices forum only
so there won´t be a section for any other devices!
This is the point of view from the Admins wich I support.
Respectfully,
so much hate.
it would do no harm to have a small subforum at the bottom for non HTC devices.
Not at all
All has it´s reason to be:

After you read that perhaps you´ll understand...
And as I promise to -PiLoT-:
Go to winmodevelopers.freeforums.org for non HTC devices
well said orb! hey, I kinda like the name of this samsung device
Hey!
Welcome back my friend!
A-S Team missed you a lot!

Cheers,

Hi
until now I didn't know that this is a HTC-only forum, and because of the Xperia and the other two android phones (yes they are HTC...) I thought the galaxy would fit.
Thank you for telling me respectfully that I'm a noob, you uber pro senior member...

Please dont judge all us old timers the same, i promise we're not all like that!
Whilst it is indeed a HTC specific forum for whatever reason, you will find that you will be able to get any device support as we all run the same apps and the same operating system. So, please do stay and ask O/S or general application specific questions I run an Acer M900 and an Omnia and i'm still here!
As for where you will get your roms etc, i'm afraid you will have to use google again.
can we please have the opinion of the admins too?
I think this terminal is very well build and very nice to look at. Developers in here in the end are working with the software part, developing the platform, which makes less important the hw part.
I too would like to see a i7500 subforum.. maybe open a poll to see the opinion of all developers?

If money is the problem, maybe interested people could sponsor non-HTC sections? I'd certainly donate. It would be great to hear from an admin how much we're talking about (roughly).
As I said before I think the developers are working IN THIS CASE with a PLATFORM not with the hardware.. where the transition from one terminal to another I think would be quite easy
I would be interested to donate for the development of more phones as well.. moderator's view about this would be appreciated. thx

I would also be interested to Donate for the development of more phones. I recently have a Samsung Galaxy. Before I had 2 WinMo Devices and pherhaps the Next will be a Maemo or a WinMo again .... Thats why it would be a great Idea to Donate to get in Sub Forums like Samsung I7500, Asus etc.
You could try Android Forums

XDA Sister Site for All Android MFG's

Hello all,
With how big the buzz is on the new Moto Droid, and how awesome the reviews have been on it so far, I'm hoping the modding community would attack it like a wolf on a sheep.
The question of the day though, is where will the modders conglomerate? It's not a HTC phone, so of course it wouldn't be on XDA (though I wish it was, because the android community here is first class awesome).
Why not create a sister site of XDA called droid-developers.com (or any name really, i wrote this because android-developers.com is taken). We could move all of the android forums and posts over to the sister site (which would definitely save bandwidth here on XDA), and that way the devs can have a one stop area for all android development, not just HTC phones. They could then just create new forums for other phones, like the liquid a1, motorola droid, samsung galaxy, etc..
If we have different sites for different manufacturers, the dev and mod community will be broken apart on different sites, whereas they could all be centrally located on one site.
Having all the android devs in one location not only helps form a community, but it also makes it a one stop location for everything android modding and developing. Others have tried doing so, but each attempt failed because there was no backing. If XDA made the site, it would have the backing of XDA, and with them moving all the current android forums over to the new site, it would be instant 100% backing, as that is where the devs would go for their current projects that are already posted, and any new projects.
As it stands now, there is a different forum for dream/magic, yet a lot of the posts get double posted in each because they are applicable to each. when someone is working on an application, do they choose to put it in the Dream section, Magic section, or Hero section? With it's own complete forum, there could be a general app section, etc..
Lets use an example. The Samsung Galaxy. It was the second android phone released. It's a great phone, but because it's not made by HTC, and therefore has no place on XDA, there is no modding community for it at all. A great device (and really the only one with a good amount of internal storage) has no hopes for the modding future because there is no central location for devs to conglomerate. If it was made by HTC, it would have flourished in the modding community simply because it could be discussed and worked on here at XDA.
The main thing, is they're modding Android, not the specific device. Sure each device has it's own quirks, but Android as a whole is what the topic is about. Why limit it to just HTC phones?
So please, if you agree that this will help the android community, vote in the poll, and voice your opinion by posting in this thread.
Well, as I find the proposal fair enough I've voted yes, but I'm not at all convinced about that domain.
If you intend to move devs from this site (which is well known in the android scene) to a new one, and you use as a reason that this was htc specific, you can't possibly try to name the new site droid-developers in direct reference to a motorola phone.
it wasn't used for a motorola reference. android-developers.com is already taken, as is android-devs.com.
If you have any other suggestions for domain names please post them.
Edit: fixed the first post to reflect what i stated here about the name
Are the mods here not going to create a section for this phone?
There will be no section for The Droid, Galaxy, Cliq, Liquid A1, etc.. because they are not HTC phones. XDA is for HTC phones only.

Lol, it's the origins of XDA. Look at all the phones listed on the forum. They're all HTC phones. XDA is another name for an older htc phone. This site was made and is used only for HTC phones.

Because the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was made by HTC.
How about making an Android section on this forum that has every Android device, HTC or not? Still under the XDA-Developers.com domain though.

That wouldn't work also, as it would make the main site very clustered. the current per phone forum layout is great, and I would hope the new site would maintain the same layout. Each phone definitely needs it's own forum for hardware hacks (like rooting, SPL's, custom ROM's, etc..) but with all Android devices in one place, it's easier for the community to discuss, mod, etc.. from device to device.
you got another yes here. i would like to see all android being supported.
I too would like to see all Android supported. Especially seeings how a lot of the development will apply to most devices.
I personally hope for a new site to offload some traffic. With android coming to more carriers there is bound to be much heavier traffic.
XDA has been invaluable to me since I got my titan a few years back.
As I have been considering the DROID as an upgrade, I would feel much better about that choice knowing it had a great community to support it despite not being an HTC device.
The same could apply to Windows Mobile though. There are great WinMo devices that aren't supported by the xda-dev's. They can only do so much.
I ststed this in another thread. ModMyMoto will have a section for Droid and Cliq. As far as the others Im sure a site such as PPCGeeks will have the other devices covered.
But I wouldnt be chosing a phone based on the presence of a forum. There will always be someone modding a device if it exists, and finding info is easy enough with google.
If all the devices were located on the same forum, you would have all kinds of tardos flashing files to incorrect devices.
If youve been on XDA for a while you know that these conversations come and go. XDA does their thing, they are the big dogs on the block so its not a big deal if it takes another site to fill in the gaps that XDA cant cover.
I post most of my work on alldroid.org because I would like to use that site for software related things and then use XDA for hardware related things for my G1. I think once more non-HTC phones hit the stores there will be a big influx of people looking for a site to mod on and I dont think XDA will be able to support it unless they dramatically change their ways.
Was going through my past subscriptions and I came upon this thread. Oh how the tides have changed
Ahhh this brings back so many memories. It's great to see how much XDA has progressed over the years!

Samsung Moment

Will the samsung moment be getting a section here in xda?
Welcome to forums
This has been discussed several times before
We are an HTC devices only forum and non HTC devices won´t have a section now or in the future.
other fourm?
hmm... I've just converted from the vogue, to the moment... so after getting used to the high quality of work and posts of all the members here, i'm hoping that there will be a fourm for the samsung moment that even slightly compares.
If it's not against the rules, does anyone know of a high quality fourm that will support the samsung moment?
ppc geeks - samsung moment
I put a request out there for a fourm:
here is the link:

Those palm and sony xperia were built by HTC
the moment's still kicking - sprint said it couldn't run froyo but it does (and more) thanks to sdx - I know I'd appreciate a small moment forum here - occasionally it's helpful to reach out to people for help who aren't on the other site
The moment was a rock solid phone that took all the root and rom abuse that I could throw at it. It is still kicking for a fairly large group.
From a humble noob to XDA

Samsung Moment on XDA?

Would it be possible to start a thread for the Samsung Moment? I am about to get one, and would love to start hacking and developing the device with Hero and what not. As far as I know(or seen), there arn't any samsung phones on XDA...or are there?
That is correct no Samsung etc., since this is a HTC forum only. You will have to find the Samsung forums...

[Q]About android developing

after being here... for a few good months, and having an xperia, and other devices.
i really started to like the idea of developing android, since im a Computer engineer i like this kind of things so my question is
how hard are the xperia and the samsung galaxy s captivate to develop?
how saturated are those devices and do you recomend them to develop?
also i want to go to develop custom roms and kenerls and suchs things
what i should know to start or any recomendation are welcome
thanks
With 183 posts you should know how to use the search feature.
There is a thread on the same forum page as your thread that already deals with this question.
It sort of gets asked every week.

Just check the xperia or galaxy forums, see for yourself.
No one knows how good your ROM will be, if its good people will use it.
I don't think there are phones to recommend for making ROMs...
...there is no money if you mean that, you basicly just need a phone with an unlocked bootloader. In that case the captivate should do.
