Hi, i have rooted my htc magic, and installed rogers rom. This rom is so great but i actually can not access to vodafone live (for live TV).
If enter to http://live.vodafone.com i get a xml file. Anyone knows how to enter vodafone live services?
check your network access point settings, i flashed to ion and can still get to the live homepage.
my settings are;
wap.vodafone.com
username ; wap
password i think is wap. you can get these settings if you search vodafones support forums.
i have airtelwap.es in apn settings.. i will try this settings. thanks.

Hi all.. a member of the forum idsk released a patch for running the HTChome weather update feature on proxy connection like WAP ones, so I'm sure that anyone using T-Mobile Web or T-Zones will like it.
More details can be found here:

We need the help of the forum devs to develop similar solutions to other popular programs like Live messenger etc..

If you are using auto mode, you have to load PIE at least once so the weather can get the proxy settings. Load up PIE and browse something like google, then try updating your weather. (Given the fact that you have already set proxy settings in your connection settings)
As most people will know; VF left out this application.
I am told this is because VF believe that business users dont like entertainment (!) and therefore wouldnt use it. Also, that WM phones dont 'do wap'. Can that be right? I am sure my old Omnia had VF Live on it.
Anyway, I think in order for me to get Sky Sports Mobile TV, I need to access it through the VF Live WAP portal.
Anyone know if this has been sorted for us on these forums? I found one vodafone live .cab but that didnt work and just mucked up my connection settings (unless I did something wrong).
This phone also doesnt have the YouTube app (it's entertainment again you see). A VGA .cab of that would be good too
Thanks

WM phone do support WAP and can be accessed from the Touch Pro on the vodafone network. However, you can not get onto the Vodafone Live Website due to the fact that their servers do not recognise the phone browser and therefore defaults to the vodafone live page that is accessed from your desktop. To my knowledge there is no work around for this.
I believe that if you change the user agent of opera or internet explorer to that of a supported mobile phone, you are then able to view the vf live wap portal pages.
Sadly, i don't know the user agent of a supported phone, but I'm sure something like a Nokia N95 would be compatible.
obviously, we would now need to find the user agent string for that device and try that.....
Apparently the N95 user agent string is...
Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95/11.0.026; Profile MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413
I have got it working, but you have to create another connection with the following settings
Make an internet connection,
use cellular line GPRS 3G
Access Point NAME: wap.vodafone.co.uk
username: wap
Password: wap
then for this connection you need to setup a proxy.
Http: 212.183.137.12:8799
weird that vodafone does something like this!
Here in the netherlands if I go to the vodafone site they say proudly that ya can use youtube as well!
I have a ( general) TP without a simlock...no I had the youtube app pre-installed. With vodafone as my current provider it works great...

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately you lost me at "User String".
But on a positive it looks like I can get this up and running. Could you kindly guide me through it (the Mozilla bit not the connection settings).
Do I install it as obviosuly my Touch Pro doesnt have it.
Thanks!
I just flashed my UK voda TP with the ROMeOS ROM and the youtube app works perfectly, no need to adjust any settings, (unlike T-mob)

In Opera you need to type "opera:config" into the address bar....
Then select the option that appears in the navigation window.
Scroll down to "User prefs" and select it....
Scroll down to "Custom User Agent" and type the text string above into the box
Scroll down the page and choose "Save"....
Now when you try to access live.vodafone.com using the wap settings mentioned you should be able to access the Live portal....Haven't tried watching Sky TV etc, so don't know how well that works.....

Would you post the exact link to it please? Did you have to do any CID/app unlock shennigans first!?
@ice-coffee:
I'm the same. I'm thinking of flashing my ROM. Is it possible to backup the current ROM if all goes Pete Tong?
I've never flashed a ROM, scares me a bit and want to do it!
where do I start?
Thanks!

We're at the same place. I'm carefully reading this...
http://lievenvw.wordpress.com/2008/...c-diamond-or-htc-touch-pro-with-a-custom-rom/
Hiya
You know what, having read all that, I think I'm gonna try and get the Youtube app working on the device with the VF Rom left exactly as it is.
I'm up for tweaking plenty, but I also need to rely on this as a phone and messaging device, and can't afford one crash or fail really.

I tried that. But VF removed the straeming media app as well. Also no VF Live so no mobile TV.
Thats ALOT of tweaking.
Hmm, OK. rock and hard place!
I'm going to try and will let you know if I can get it working. I really don't fancy the idea of flashing and installing 1000 tweaks/apps that my device doesn't need.

Please let me know. All I want is youtube app (with streamer) plus VF live. It's all out there but I can get none to work
Hi,
I use a wap internet connection (I think as many other users) and it require a proxy. However use a proxy with the android os seem an impossible thing! There is support only for http proxy (not socks), it can't be used over wifi and https doesn't work!
Currently the "global" proxy that I've set is considered ONLY by browser and Dolphin browser and it works only for http connection. It means that I can't use sync, market, maps.... The "apn type" in settings must me leaved blank because if I write "default" won't work anything.
I've found report bug about this issue (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2690) however seem that no one would fix it.
Obviously https with my wap connection works fine thought any other phones (iphone included) and pc (tether with android).
Can you help me (us) ?
Have you ever try cmwrap ?
http://code.google.com/p/cmwrap/ or search market cmwrap.
Cmwrap is a local proxy software for android.
with this, https proxy partly work in ChinaMoblie wap data plan.

thanks
Hello all, I am having problems with my O2 XDA EXEC Build 23089.5.3.0 v12
I am a pay as you go customer and I cannot connect to the mobile web I have manually done the O2 settings but still does not connect I am wondering if this is due to not having MMS? or possibly its something to do with wm6.5?
I really want to use this as I sell a lot on Ebay and work 12hr shifts and need to check my mail.
Has any one had this issue? Can any one solve this for me??
Cheers,
Hope this can help you

I have tried these settings but they dont seem to work either? I get the feeling it could be some thing to do with wm6.5?? Or maybe not?!!
Nooooo, your all wrong!!! its got nothing to do with ROMs, Radios, or MMS
The HTC Universal / XDA Exec - is a contact phone, meaning you can only get it on a contact. So the Internet bit only works with a:
Contact or Simplicty simcard, you can surf using a Pay n Go card, becuase it wont find the GPRS settings, - now the reason i now all this is becuase i had the same problem, rang up Customer Support and asked the very same question - they said:
Sorry we cant find send the setting to your phone, Are you using a Pay n Go SImcard? (i reply; Yeah) Owww they said, You can only go on the internet with a Simplcity or Contact, but eithrway your mum or dad would have to pay for it , unless your over 18!
So hope this helps,
PS: Orb, told you i would still be around and help out

What you mean with "contact" phone
If you meant a contract phone that it´s not true, you can use your Universal with any type of contract/cell provider in the world, just unluckingIf you don´t mean that please explain.
Nice to see you keep your word

I presume you mean contract? I am on pay as you go but the sim I have is £10 month 300 free texts and 500mb internet download so I am using the right sim just not getting any where with connecting. My mate has the same phone and he is running wm6.1 and gets O2 internet without any issues.
If anyones using pay as you go on O2 UK on the XDA EXEC could you do me a small favour and look at your O2 setting and see if they are different to these below. Sorry, don't want to be cheeky!!! Really want this sorted!!
Go to [Start]
Tap [Settings]
Tap [Connections]
Tap [Connections]
Under [My ISP] tap [Manage Existing Connections]
Tap [Edit]. If this is not present tap [Add a new modem connection]
The [Select a Modem] drop-down box should be set to:
XDA Exec: [Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)]
Tap [Next]
The [Access Point Name] should be set to: mobile.o2.co.uk
Tap [Next]
The [Username] shouldbe set to: o2web
The [Password] should be set to: password
Leave [Domain] blank
Tap [Advanced]
On the [TCP/IP] tab, only [Use Server-assigned IP Address] should be selected
Tap the [Servers] tab
Select [ Use Specific Server Addresses]
DNS: 193.113.200.200
Alt DNS: 193.113.200.201
Tap [ok]
Tap [Finish]
On O2 Pay-and-Go, the [Access point name] should be: payandgo.o2.co.uk, and the [Username] should be payandgo. All other settings are correct.
You may also need to set the proxy server to 193.113.200.195, port 8080 (not the default 80) for http, and the default port to the other protocols. Mine now works with or without the proxy, but used to require it.

It's not that no-one cares to help you, it's just that there isn't that option available. Perhaps there is some hidden registry entry you could use, but no-one has yet found it.

No news on the APN proxy setting in WP7?
Hi guys,
No news so far?
