any request?

Is this the JIME used in the ntt docomo Magic?

By the way for those who are thinking about installing this IME, it requires 11.4MByte of /system. Make sure you have enough space.

Also, can we get some screenshots?

Screenshots.
Here are some screenshots =]
Comes preinstalled with skins, and english keyboard is T9 style. Works very well. Please note that if you install this using adb, dont forget to use ADB REMOUNT, then run the .bat file.

Packaged update.zip installer. 11.4MByte of /system required! Check with df before using. Also requires testkeys to be installed (in other words you need to be "rooted")

Please also post your progress here in my original thread about this in the HTC Magic forums:

Also here is my original blog post:

FYI, at GDD they told us you can switch to qwerty, hold down the bottom left "文字" key for 3 seconds, and you can switch to the full-size keyboard.

Oh that is a VERY handy tip. Even though i've memorized the kanas, I still prefer to use alphabetic input. They even have a keyboard for fixed-width alphabet! <insert Japanese asciicats here>
Sorry for forking off discussion in Dream. Didn't see you already had a topic going on in Sapphire. I'll mark this thread for merge but I don't know how readily the mods will be to cross-subforum merging.
Feel free to link to the premade updater I posted above as well, if you like.

Not at all, the reason I ripped this from my HTC Magic in the first place and posted it on the internet was for all to enjoy. I'm glad Dream users can enjoy a good native Japanese IME as well

It will be, but that phone hasn't been released yet (ht-03a).

Is it possible to add handwriting input just like the chinese one has?

Yeah after playing around with iwnn ime a bit more and lookin at the HT-03a videos some more, it's clear that they're the same piece of software.

Highly unlikely, unless OMRON soft do it themselves.

Can you use the physical dream keyboard with this ime? <---Yes you can.
In order for it to work, you need to bring up the touch screen keyboard,
select romanji-kana input (the あ on the 文字 buton on the bottom left)
Slide open the physical keyboard
****touch the text field**** it will not work otherwise. An あ will show up in the upper left of the notification bar
Then type away.
i have only tried this on atk notepad, and sms so far.
P.S.
THANKS GUYS
I have been waiting for this for a long time.

I've seen the ht-03a and the rom dump from my phone is basically a stripped down version of the OS for that phone.

It says bad signature or something along those lines? What Android build are you using? The update is signed with testkeys so it will only work on JF, haykuro, dude, etc. Won't work on official build. If you're still getting errors, try re-downloading the zip file. I have personally flashed it myself so I can guarantee that it works.
By the way, you must MUST verify you have enough space before installing if you are gonna use the update.zip because I don't think the recovery tool will throw an error if you run out of space. It just silently fails (i think).

It didn't even say that, just "bad". If it was "bad signature" then I would have half comprehended it. I'm using Ravenge's Rogers Mod, so it is definitely rooted. Strangely enough though, I tried again this morning to see what the actual words of the error were, and it worked. To an extent.
Now I can select the IME, but if I try going to its settings it does nothing, and when I try typing it just comes out normal. Closing the keyboard and touching the screen brings up nothing: no keyboard or anything...
Any help would be appreciated... If its unsolvable though, would I be right in assuming if I was to reflash the ROM I'm using, it would regain all the /system space lost through flashing the unusable IME?

If you type df in Terminal Emu how much space do you have left in /system?
You can always reclaim all the space taken up by removing the files manually-- no need to reflash. Just remount /system as rw and then rm the applicable files from /system/lib and /system/app

Never wipe again after an upgrade!

It seems that quite often after an upgrade (especially when using Apps2SD), Android rebuilds the /data/system/packages.xml file because it thinks you have reinstalled all of your apps. This results in missing apps, force closes, etc, because UIDs have changed and they don't match whats in your /data/data directory. It's almost always fixed by a wipe, but screw that
Download this file: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/fix_permissions.sh
Push it to your sdcard, su, and run "sh /sdcard/fix_permissions.sh" and reboot. You should be good to go with NO WIPE!
Credit goes to this guy, I simply ported it to shell code: http://blog.elsdoerfer.name/2009/05/25/android-fix-package-uid-mismatches/
UPDATED: Now works with protected apps.

Well, there are some other factors, like app data that is stored in the same place but in a different format. You'd likely run into this going back and forth from an HTC based build like Hero or Sapphire and an Android based build like mine, Dude's, or JF's. I can't fix that situation, YMMV.
Except for that special case, this should do the trick.
I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot. Do you do this before or after the update and will this work with any update (like moving from ION to Rogers?

Thank you very much
Out of curiousity, is it even possible to implement this into ROM Builds? it would seem simple enough. however I haven't built my own ROM so I'm going off of what I know from programming. ask the guy who created it if you can use his work. lol you're the man, as always.
ok i may of did something wrong but i couldnt get it to work. i used the terminal emulator on the phone and typed the command and it says
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
it continued to do the script but said not permitted for each app.
i definately have root as i just installed your latest rom so what am i doing wrong?
Did you SU first?

Yeah, it should be possible. The script is a little slow, though, so it would need a way of detecting an upgrade in the first place, and it would have to run after all the apks are processed.

That is the idea, yes.

You ran the script first, before the flash? I believe the script is to be run after the flash. Try that and see what happens.

On top of that you can also download Better Keyboard from the Android Market i think its US$2.99... buttons are bigger (so it'll let you be more accurate) and can apply skins to the keyboard. Cons, it takes more screen space than the original keyboard but for me i rather type faster with less mistakes.

Have you pushed libt9.so library file ?
Related, but not exactly the same...
I had a similar issue with RAv (wanted to replace the HTC keyboard with the HTC Chinese input, HTC_CIME) and Amon_RA suggested the following (after applying update.zip):
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/HTC_IME*
adb shell rm /system/lib/libt9.so
adb shell rm /system/app/Clicker*

However, for me, when I did it this way it didn't work. Reversing the order works, that is, doing the adb commands first, then boot into recovery and and all.
Is there any way i can get the google keyboard on a custom rom? Liked that better than the htc one....
Yes i pushed libt9.so aswell, As i said i can find it in lkocale settings but i cant use it anywhere but calibrate? Im using cyanogens port
roy_drage gave me a solution. Go to create message then long press message input box, choose touch input

[ROM - 32B] ZeroXd 5.2r4 / JACHeroSki-v2.0 [09/11/2009 - 11:47AM EST]

I will be accepting donations if you like my work. After contacting HTC, they informed me that my device is not under warranty, as a technician determined it to be "user related" damage and that all repairs will be at owner expense.
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=8141983
If you follow my twitter, you know I bricked my G1. I am trying to get it repaired, but due to the long response time I had to buy a mytouch (no point having two G1s IF the other one gets repaired). Using this bad luck to my advantage, I scripted a way for hero to run on both with two simple commands.
How I rooted a brand new "perfected SPL" MT3G and installed Hero in 15 min:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=154
Link to original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4365404#post4365404
Updated, but still feeling slow? Back up. Try rm system/sd/app_s then reboot to recovery and wipe data. then install fresh. Before restoring your data, open the backup folder on your sd card and remove the subfolders for programs you no longer have or need to have backed up.
I noticed a 10% increase in speed and my phone was far from lagging to begin with.
Losing messages? Make sure that system/sd/app/com.android.mms.apk does NOT exist, as this was an old release. Go into settings for messaging (from the conversation list panel) and set priority to "High"
Most Recent:
G1 / MT3G: http://twistedumbrella.slackdev.com/ZeroXd-6.0.zip
Now includes dynamic swap. Rewrote the method of apps to sd for myTouch.
Build will move system apps, user apps, and dalvik to sd on a g1 device.
Build will ONLY move user apps to the sd when using a myTouch.
This will allow the system apps and dalvik to remain on internal device.
This is a completely new method of doing a merge build so bear with me.
I am going to be rewriting things for users without a lot of user apps, like myself.
This will allow the entire build to be placed onto internal for mytouch users.
Once you have updated and are ready to use the phone, execute Terminal and enter the following commands:
su
magic
This configures the system to the specific device. This is until I finish automation.
LEDs have been restored to 93%
Bluetooth restored in MT3G
Porting my own boots for MT3G
Based on the System Image from Haykuro
Using the Kernel and Boot.img from JAC
Extensive system script edits were done
SwitchROM installs itself to system/sd/
LEDs are at about 90-100% brightness
CPU Optimization turned off by default
Enhanced Terminal included
Fixed My Account included

adb pull /system/sd/app_s/HTC_IME.apk c:\(*your directory*)\HTC_IME.apk
(***install the new one***)
adb push c:\(*your directory*)\HTC_IME.apk /system/sd/app_s/HTC_IME.apk
start your Messaging it will crash the first time you want to use the keyboard... restart Messaging and it should work...

Google Search by Voice v1.4.1 install fails

Searched the forum and wiki and can't find anything on this.
Trying hard not be a 'compleet newb'....
Problem: I've tried to download and install the latest update (v1.4.1) to Google Search by Voice. It fails saying it is not correctly signed. I am not able to uninstall it via the Market software. The existing version is present and still works.
I was thinking of manually uninstalling it and then attempting a re-install from the market. Has anyone had any success getting this update to install on CM 4.2.7.1?
I'm running Cyanogen 4.2.7.1 on my HTC Magic 32B, applied over the flashed and clean-installed 1.6 rooted base - no CM Updater. (Seems to give a better, more stable result - may affect the behaviour of the update).
this stupid error happens because of the test keys or the userdebug keys thay cyanogenmod uses. I would download it somewhere online and use adb to replace the old one wiht the new one. It should work.
Yes I have the same problem with same model phone etc. etc.
I understand the workaround will be the same as Google maps 3.2.1 update but I cannot find up to date "Google search by voice" apk. I was wondering if anyone knows a source that mirrors up to date apps, or could even link a tut about how to get apk's copied out of the phones /tmp folder?
Thanks
I'll check out the package name in the Applications settings and see if I can find it anywhere or somehow capture it. Later....won't have any time until this evening.

That's great I didn't think of that, ill whip out those quotation marks and asterisks for google too. Also later...... 00:20 is not the right time for this....... so tempted......!!!
I fixed the maps.apk problem by going into adb and uninstalling maps.apk and then removing all traces of it. Then I went to marketplace and i downloaded it as normal and it now works perfectly.
Try that with voice search
Do we know what the package name is? Usually something like "com.google.android.apps.xxx" Could try uninstalling through adb. Then re-download from the market?
hello, could u plz share the installer? its not available on the marketplace in my country.
thanks very much
success
Ok, I managed to get Google Search by Voice updated to 1.4.1. I'm no pro and it took ages but it works.
Could a mod advise whether I am allowed to post a link to the apk?
I would be happy to post the steps i took but its not something i have done before and worse still, i used cmd not putty (noob error #1!). So the commands and the order i used them in are lost.
Should have used ubuntu..............
the concept consisted of updating the app and simultaneously using this command while it was downloading
Code:
cp /cache/downloadfile-9.apk /sdcard/download
"9" is only because it is the 9th apk i have downloaded and once the install fails the OS deletes the apk.
(for anyone else it would be different. go into /cache and type ls at the prompt to see what your next number will be)
then rename downloadfile-*.apk to VoiceSearch.apk, remove the original in the phone using adb and replace with the updated app.
I will post again tomorrow with clearer instructions but would much rather post a link to the apk I got, if it is permitted
hmmm. doing an 'adb shell rm /system/app/VoiceSearch.apk' and reinstalling from the market still gives you the unsigned error?

yes it will still give an unsigned error.
that is why you need to copy the apk which android market downloads to /cache before it deletes it, i copied it to /sdcard/download. then install via adb afterwards.
you have to manual install the apk to avoid unsigned error, once you have done this any future updates through market will be fine. Maps updated fine to 3.3 after i manually installed 3.2.1
How?

Any advice on how you did that? I can imagine sitting with finger poised over the enter button in an adb shell.......is that what you did? Or is there a more certain, simple way?
Thanks.

However it will not install using android interface, adb only.
Its been a pleasure to help, I have been using this site as reference for ages and it is nice to give something back

Where id VoiceSearch.apk come from?
anthortic said:
yes it will still give an unsigned error.
you have to manual install the apk to avoid unsigned error, once you have done this any future updates through market will be fine. Maps updated fine to 3.3 after i manually installed 3.2.1

I downloaded the VoiceSearch.apk file and adb pushed it into /system/app on my phone and it works perfectly. The market sees it as installed and valid.
But I inspected my "normal" load phone (which has voice search) and nowhere could i see anything resembling "VoiceSearch.apk".
Where is this file on an un-rooted phone?

that is why you need to copy the apk which android market downloads to /cache before it deletes it, i copied it to /sdcard/download. then install via adb afterwards.

Droid X Multitouch KB for Eclair ROMs

Here's a working kb that I know works for eclair roms (more specifically, it works for me on Darchdroid 2.7 (an AOSP ROM). If anyone is able to get this to work okay using sense roms, that's great, otherwise, sorry.
Just put the file into u'r c:\ folder and push it via adb
Code:
adb push c:\DroidXIME.apk /system/app/
I just added the 'q-ime.apk' file as well. This file is similar to the DroidXIME.apk file, but, in my opinion, it seems to have better response than the droidxime.apk file. It also fixes a problem with displaying a correct symbol in the characters section of the kb.
Enjoy
I installed it via Astro manager, but even though it shows it's installed, I cannot find any settings to assign it as the default keyboard. Would it have anything to do with it being the latin keyboard? I do see the settings for "multitouch keyboard" but that's it. Also is there any visual difference between this one and the stock keyboard?
It'll look the same or similar to the stock KB. The multitouch is this KB

I'm surprised it doesn't work for ya... you just have to go into the shell after mounting /system and
Code:
rm q-ime.apk
Code:
reboot
Sorry it FC's on ya
They both work just fine for me. Stinx they aren't workin for ya
I basically posted this for someone on IRC so they could get the apk easily. Maybe it's only functional for AOSP roms... dunno

Use it like a normal computer keyboard ie: hold down the 'shift' key while you push another key to make it a capital, then release and keep typing - works great!

use RootExplorer (find an apk) and use that..its better/easier than using a terminal emulator, plus, u dont need to remember/copy all those commands
does this keyboard have the spacebar bug where it only responds to the top of the button
