Hello. to everybody.
I am trying to fix the reappearing HTC Icons from Start Menu with the tweaks advised in some threads but they don't work.
Even if I change the HKCU Dword string to 0 (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable), they again reappear but without the icon (only a sad and ugly grey icon)....
Does anybody know something more to fix this annoying issue?
Thx in advance.

After doing that, you need to actually delete the shortcuts yourself.
Open file explorer and navigate to Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Locate the shortcuts (you'll recognise them from the default icon that you've already seen) and delete them.
The registry change you described simply stops the shortcuts from being recreated when you restart the device.
Try this cab , i used it , it works .
6/12 -09 Touch X Permanently Delete Reappearing HTC Icons.cab -Permanently Delete Reappearing HTC Icons from Start Menu (see tweak 42 in tboy2000 thread here)
http://www.ad-grafiska.se/HD2/LEO TWEAKS/Touch X Permanently Delete Reappearing HTC Icons.cab
Or if none of the above don't work for some reason the you need to make the shortcuts hidden in file properties using a good file explorer, after doing the reg tweaks also.

Thanks for this info. I've been searching for a number of days trying to figure out how to remove these default icons. I've no idea where they sprung up from. Anyway, they've now gone!
what if i want the sortcuts back with the default icons on start?
I know - incredibly stupid! I was adding a binary value for a color on the today screen and when it didn't work, deleted it. However, by mistake, I deleted the entire color key.
Could someone post what the wm 6.5 hklm\software\microsoft\color key is supposed to look like? Also, I need to know what each item is so I can add it all back in myself. I know nothing about the registry (hence just how stupid I was). Thanks for any help.
Almost forgot - running the Tael rom with htc sense.
Here's the easiest thing to do in this situation:
Run a full backup of your device with the app of choice (sprite, spb, etc.).
Do a hard reset.
With a reg editor, export the key(s) you lost.
Do a full restore. Now, there's a chance the keys you lost will still be there after the the restore, but if not, just restore them with your reg editor.
Here's a 2nd way to do it:
Copy default.hv out of \windows to your pc. Open it up with ceregeditor, and export the keys you need.
Finally, it's possible that the color keys are in the .tsk file. Just try re-loading your theme (settings\home\appearance). That may restore the reg keys. Many of the color keys are in those .tsk files. Try that out first.
registry key
Thanks Farmer Ted. Actually, I was getting ready to flash a new rom anyway, so I just went ahead and did that after searching hours on the internet trying to piece together how to make a new key myself (knowing nothing about the registry or programming!).
Ok, I have a T*Mobile HTC Touch Pro2. From the home screen you see a slider bar at the bottom. One of the tabs available is for the SMS/MMS program which if I understand correctly is Manilla. This program is nice but I'm very annoyed that I have to input ONE CONTACT AT A TIME when I send a mass message...which I do very often. So here is what I wanna do...
I want to change the tab so that it pulls up a new SMS/MMS program instead of manilla. Let's call it EXAMPLE_PROG as the app I just installed SMS-CHAT doesn't do MMS as well, so I need to find a different app that includes both AND lets me do some sort of checklist to add multiple contacts at once. If you know of one, lemmie know.
Anywho, I have a registry editor and I have edited my laptop registry before so I know a little of what I am doing and I know that changing things I shouldn't COULD brick my phone. Therefore, I'm asking for help. What do I change so that choosing the MESSAGES tab brings up EXAMPLE_PROG instead?
Thanks in advance for your help.

i'm wondering if there is a way to do away with the slider bar in the default wm6.5 home screen. in the pic below (i'm a new user so just copy/paste without spaces, lol.) i just slid the bar all the way to the top to take a screenshot, and i wanna know if i can just remove it for a simple clean homescreen.

Why not switch to "classic today" screen, then check out the themes forum for themes you can apply or search for specific plugins? Is it just that you want the titanium function but not the outline around the selected panels? I'm not sure how to do that, but it should be possible by editing the xml file.
well, when i switch to the classic today screen, or just uncheck Windows Default, under Items, i lose the transparency of the toolbar and taskbar. i guess that if i cold just get rid of the big dark bar in the middle of my screen i would be satisfied. i would just like to be able to see my wallpapers. and yes, i want the titanium function but not the outline around the selected panels.
Ok, gotcha. I don't know off-hand how to do that, though It probably would be as simple as editing the file, or finding the .png that is of that image (in the windows directory) and replacing it with a panel that is completely transparent.
Maybe someone with some experience will come along that already knows how to do that.
To get you started, you may want to look at this theme, which has already made the panels transparent. if you like it, you can just use it. Otherwise, you could potentially compare the xml files, of find the transparent image that he is using in there and copy it over to your device. It's been a long time since i checked/looked, but the xml that controls the sliding panels today screen is usually something like home.xml or something.
[note: if your phone is not touchscreen, use/look at this thread instead]
If you start playing around, back everything up first! You may also want to browse the "post your screenshots thread" and see if you don't come across some other UI that you like better (or another theme w/o the panels). good luck!

The bronzeres.dll is on the windows directory, but modifying the dll is more complicated than editing xml or cpr files, in my previous post there is a link where you can learn how to unsigne, edit, resign the dll file.

Hi all
for the last two days I was searching for a way to remove the win6.5 lockscreen's buttom curtain
so I was wondering if anyone knows a way to do this
thanx anyway for your time while reading this
well,thanks anyway
I found the solution myself
I edited a cpr file located in "lockscreen" folder in the root of windows
so if anyone wanted the same thing that I wanted
just replace the "LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr" in the "lockscreen" folder with my file wich I edited
hope you like it
