How to BRICK your device! Read before flashing! - G1 Android Development

In the many days since the G1 flashing fun started I have heard of many bricks. Most of the users who report a brick talk about pulling the battery and the phone never comes back on. If you are ever going to pull the battery,
DO NOT DO IT WHILE ONE OF THESE IMAGES IS ON THE SCREEN!!!!!!

Doing so will almost guarantee you will end up with a brick. This thread was made to save those who keep asking how to fix a phone they have just bricked. If you have bricked this by doing this, there is no fixing it unless you take it apart and solder jtag connections to your phones circuit board. Dont ask about how to do that because the details are not available.

Need Assistance

Im goin to try to make this as short as possible. However i need the help of other Raphael owners. If you look at the pic of my phone. The screen portion(slider) is for some reason taking gouges out of the bottom portion(keyboard). I contacted AT&T for a replacement. They stated that it is not a KNOW ISSUE they will not replace it under warranty. I have had this phone and service for only 2 months. I find this unacceptable!! Would fellow Raphael owners please examine their phone and post a pic or comment stating that your phone has the same issue. My brother bought a Raphael and his phone has the same issue. I have tried 2 different stores to see if anything can be done, of course nothing has been solved. This is not a cheap phone and there is no reason why some of us who have issues have to live with them when considering the issue is not a cause of the user. Thanks in

Yep, I have little "chips" on my Fuze as well, though not as bad as yours. The largest one is under the AT&T/CV button.
Many people have this same issue, just read this:

There are some pictures somewhere in that thread.

PLEASE HELP LOCATING JTAG PINS (BRICKED PHONE) pics included

I've accidentaly erased a whole rom, even a bootloader so i believe the only way in my case is In-Circuit flashing.
Unfortunately i wasnt been able to find ANY guide for JTAG'ing Polaris, so if someone here have got any clue where the programming pins are located i would really appreciate a response.
Below the pictures of my XDA Orbit 2 (still don't know whether Cruise and Orbit 2 share the same PCB or not)

Yes, still disassembled, waiting for the Saviour
You could try asking at http://forum.revskills.de/ Qmat supports jtag for msm7200 chipsets so they may know where the jtag pins are located?
BUMP...for luck
I have the same problem nobody really find any solution

Problem In The BATTERY Compartment-Touch Diamond

Hey I was recently cleaning the inside of the battery compartment on the Diamond. I accidentally broke one of the "hinges"(check screenshots).
The phone works perfect but the screen wont turn on, that "hinge" is for the screen power.
Anyone know how I can get it fixed? Thanks. Help is much appreciated.

Hey , Thanks for replying.
Ya I thought I knew it was going in the
Anyways, I still have my HTC warranty, BUT the water sticker got some water on, so that means it is "WATER DAMAGE", and it voids the warranty.
Thanks anyways.

I made a backup with TWRP and checked system only, do I need to have data and boot checked also for the backup to work?
Um..
I really don't mean to be rude here. I really and truly don't.
But the reality is that you probably shouldn't be doing any of this without learning more about how Android works.
That's going to take some time, and patience, and will require that you do a significant amount of reading.
For your specific question, I'd suggest starting here.
I'd also have a look over here.
Thanks, I read both links, may practice with an old phone so I dont brick this one. I did accomplish the mission of getting root on it so I can bypass verizons damn hotspot block so mom can watch amazon video now and have wifi for her home.
