problem with opera 9.7 on jasjsar - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

new opera 9.7 bets doesnot open on my jasjar
i use tomal win 6.1 8.9

I am using Tomal 8.9 Lite and it runs fine, widgets and all, however, it's a memory hog and I run out of memory because I really wanted SPB Mobile Shell 3.0, Voice Command and other things, all that stretches even the cleanest ROM to the limit.
Have to say though, Opera 9.7 looks very nice and smooth.

Other applications can cause this problem. In my case it was PhoneWeaver. After I deleted it, Opera 9.7 worked without problems (but I switched back to 9.5).

Opera Mobile Update [Solved, Hints inside]

Hi Everyone
I'm having trouble installing the latest Opera Mobile beta (1938) on my raphael.
I Tried overwriting the files on my /windows folder, but i have an "access denied" error (opera it's not running, obviously)
I even tried the cab installer, but it can't uninstall the old version...
Any solutions?
I had the same problem, but on my HTC Universal. Some of the older builds of Opera 9.5 were really quite buggy, and did not uninstall properly. I solved the problem by booting in the safe mode of SPB Pocket Plus, uninstalling my older build of Opera from there, and installing the new build 1938. This worked for me without needing a hard reset, good luck!
I fixed my problem using Resco File Explorer
Files were overwritten successfully.
Is there much improvement over the opera that came on the device?
It's not a big deal, but it seems a little faster and a little less buggy.
No side effects until now, so, it's worth a try
Be sure to backup your old opera exe(s), just in case.
cookies
I have a banking website that tells me I don't have cookies enabled... but I do.
Site in question worked on Opera 9.5 beta on my previous device (Trinity).
My opera.ini file has cookie level 3 (enable all cookies) (which is default... i didn't change it)
Any suggestions?
I used resco to overwrite the 3 files in the windows folder. it seems to have worked, but when I go to about opera in opera, it still says 1522.
EDIT: just checked in the explorer, and there are two copies of every file. Instead of overwriting, i now have Opera9 and Opera9.exe, OperaPreL and OperaPreL.exe.
EDIT2: Solved! I used Resco to remove the *.exe files, as they were the old Opera. For some reason it used those insread of the new ones. Anyway, deleting Opera9.exe and OperaPreL.exe but leaving Opera9 and OperaPrel now launches the new 1938 build of Opera.
I installed Skyfire (oops) when I first got the device. Didnt work.
Then I uninstalled it.
It reset the default browser to PIE.
The built in Opera doesn't have an option to make it the default browser.
Installing the latest build of opera solves the problem - although (edit: some of ) the shortcuts still launch the internal version, but uninstalling it sets the default browser back to PIE.
Driving me kind of crazy at the moment. Tried looking for registry settings but I always get a bit lost.
Any ideas?

Replace Opera 9 with Opera 9.5

Hey fellas I have Opera 9 that came with my Fuze and I want to replace it with Opera 9.5, it seems better and faster. I have installed it but it seems to exist with it instead of instead of it. Basically I want to "overwrite" it, or if not how do I install stuff to my SD card instead of main memory space? I don't ever seem to get a option as where to install stuff.

reinstalling the default Opera

is there any way to reinstall the default opera build on Td2 without making a hard-reset ?
(how could I find out the default opera build/version for Td2)
I made the mistake to install a new Opera build that proved much worst then the default one and now i don`t realy know how to change it back
I did try to install the version from http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/
but strangelly it seems to install paralel to the Opera I have installed on the phone and it does not overwrite it (donno why)
up up
I would also like an answer to this... especially if Opera 9.7 is on it's way!!!

Update internet explorer mobile?

First an foremost id like to complement all XDA-Dev staff for making such a helpfull forum.
next:
Im making a internet explorer mobile bizzness aplication for an industrial PDA
the motorola MC9090 with barcode integrated.
I allready made the aplication but tested it in a updated version of internet explorer.
My Q is: how can I update these 10 motorola machines with a newer updated version of internet explorer mobile without updating the whole windows mobile?!
Thankz in advance
never heard of any pocketpc inrom program like ie or wmp being updated by a cab
The easy way will just be to upgrade the roms, but you probably don't want to do that. I'm assuming they all have PIE 5. The newer versions of PIE are getting better (the initial PIE 6 betas were pretty bad, imo), but they're still quite beta in nature. I don't think you can use these, though, as they are built around WM 6.5. I suppose you could download a 6.1 kitchen with PIE 6 in it, then rec'mod (or whatever it's called) all of the PIE modules and make a cab file. I'm not sure it would work (pretty sure I couldn't get it to work, but someone else might be able to do it).
Long story short, it will be hard without flashing, and given that the new PIE's for 6.1 suck, I'm not sure it's worth it. I'd just go for a different browser, if you can use it. Check Meinnesys's browser review for a ton of info (he'll also say that PIE6 is crap, as I remember).
hmmmm maybe other browser then.
Yes that maybe right, Farmer Ted.
But, I've been searching and probably I will go for an opera browser or fennec.
This is a huge setback for development and if I use a proper browser the development time will be much shortened i just hope boss understands this.
Because he is pushing us to do it for pie. which makes no sense at as it is just a huge load of crap.
By the way is there a mobile browser that you recommend i take a look before deciding on opera or fennec?
Thanks for the reply and take care.
I personally use opera mini 4.2 v8 version. It's crazy fast, but may be too lite for business. Check out Iris, it's basically like PIE, but better.
I've never used Fennec, but from what I've read, it's very alpha. I'd suggest avoiding it for now.
Opera Mini and Skyfire both do their rendering on a proxy server, which makes them fast. I guess that security is lower in that scenario (although you can change the server in opera mini). They might be nice, though, for business because you could set up a single user account for all the devices, and if needed you could set up a library of bookmarks that everyone could access.
Iris is nice because it uses PIE's cookies (only browser I've found that does this), and it can import PIE bookmarks. You can set the Iris cache to the storage card as well in settings. (You can also do this with PIE, but it requires registry edits).
UCWEB6 is also fast (a little slower than opera mini), and you can import PIE bookmarks with it. It is also a light, mobile browser, and it does the rendering on your device, so I guess it's more secure than mini if less quick (in my experience).
I've been using Opera Beta 9.7 some recently. It is quite nice, and fits my tastes. I like browsers that quickly render pages in a single column. You can set it to do this, and it does so reliably. I don't care for the normal Opera, which renders pages beautifully like you see them on a desktop, but you have to futz around a ton to get it so you can read what's on there. This is all down to tastes, though, and a lot of people don't like the mobile-view. The beta version will work fine for you as long as you don't enable the 'Turbo' mode. Turbo mode is very beta, and it doesn't store cookies (or history, I believe). It's basically the same as Opera Mini, anyway, but not quite as fast.
If you find that none of the alternate browsers are suitable, I'd suggest making some registry tweaks to PIE to improve it. In particular, move the cache to the sd card, and also increase the # of connections or threads or whatever they call it-the tweaks are available in sk tools. Just max out all of them, and see if things work better.
Here is a cab that re-routes your cache to the storage card (it must be called storage card and not 'sd card'). It also sets the default download location to the sd card, increases the max connections per server to 8 and has a tweak to increase download rate. These are the actual keys:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"History"="\\Storage Card\\Temporary Internet Files\\History"
"Cookies"="\\Storage Card\\Temporary Internet Files\\Cookies"
"Cache"="\\Storage Card\\Temporary Internet Files\\Temporary Internet Files"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default storage location]
"All Files"="\\Storage Card\\My Documents\\My Downloads"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"ReadAllBytesThreshhold"=dword:00000400
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000008
You can also increase the cache size; here is the setting for 20,480 MB. For some reason, it's not sticking on my fuze, so I didn't include it in the cab:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content]
"CacheLimit"=dword:00005000
You need to soft reset after installing the cab. Oh, and I posted this with Iris (over my mobiler). It was kind of a pain in the butt, but do-able.
Edit: What the heck, the second cab increases the cache to 20 MB. Only install if you have the cache on the storage card. And soft reset after installing.

Opera update.

I've got an official firmware with opera 9.5, thought that installing 9.7 will just simple update internal opera but no. Now I’ve got 2 operas. What should i do? Did new opera override internal registry settings?
Tried to disable internal opera loading by setting
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PushInternetEngine] "Enable"=dword:00000001
to 0
But now, when I press «exit – ok» phone freezes...
Crap...
Oh, the means better do not install new Opera right now.
Sympathetic to your experience
You cannot uninstall pre-installed Opera but you can disable it.
To disable pre-installed Opera (and free some memory) see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532948&highlight=Opera+free+memory
After disabling it, I have installed the new Opera and I use it when necessary.
Well ye, I've disabled internal and now I’m using 9.7 crap this firmware opera...
Guys, any way to enable autorotation when i rotate phone? And zoom line? In phone opera this thing were working, but in 9.7 they are not...
Use G-Config.
I prefer to not have Opera 9.7 auto-rotate but I use "Landscape" mode (tap and hold to get addition menu).
Can't see such option. Only bookmark, zoom, find and so on. No orientation option.
Any news guys? We all-ready have 6.5 firmware, but still have this old, crappy 9.5 opera. Any really good guide how to update it?
Does anyone know the windows mobile class name for Opera 9.7. I use gyrator program but i need the class name for opera 9.7
