Nutdhanai: this is useful info, but FYI, it's fairly well known info.
But it's useful to have it again, I suppose!

Yea i thought i ve seen this here before, I saw someone asking about push mail service in other forums so I thought someone may need the info here too..
great I was gonna ask about this as I've tried emoze with no result
how do I set up the AKU2 for an exec on tmobile uk,will it run ok?
i am aware of this, but wanted to know if anyone had an idea as to how to change the reply-to address???
I have emails forwarded to the mail2web account so i can get the exchange sync on my Wizard but do not reply to them from it as i do not want that email address to be avaliable
mail2web
Ive been using the paid service of mail2web (i liked the free service enough that i wanted a full service) for the last 3 months now, in europe, in china the push email has worked great (no i dont work for them, but geeze when something just works its nice).
1) get the free account at www.mail2web.com
2) choose your [email protected]
3) redirect all your email to your mail2web.com address
4) when u want to reply to something simply setup an imap, or pop3
account that you never poll, so when u want to reply to an email,
switch account, new, send email. its a bit cludgy, we need a better
email client that allows us to adjust the from address.
a.
As far as I am aware, it is something they have to do at the server end. I spoke to them about it and changing the domain of the reply address is one of the features of their buisness packages.
However, they did say that they are thinking of adding this to the personal package soon (don't know if that includes the free one or not!)
Hope this helps!

That would be awesome. I currently use a forwarding-account from http://www.pobox.com and would like to be able to use my Pobox-address as the default address from Mail2Web-live.

You can simply reply to emails through the mail client, it will send them from your mail2web account.
Just followed the instruction and got the push mail work perfectly, but some question to ask here, can i know what's the different between this setup and if I setup a pop mail with auto connect option enabled?
Pop mail will check mail at the intervals you specify.
Push mail keeps a data link open to the server and gets the mail as soon as it arives.

For the pushmail to work, does our phone require to be connnected to the internet either throught wifi or GPRS or other services offered by the mobile service provider?
Yes, it needs internet access.
GPRS is what it's designed to work with as this stays active while he phone is in standby. It will work with WiFi, but while the phone is in standby it will try to connect by GPRS if you have a connection available.
It could in theory work on a Bluetooth PAN with internet access, but I haven't tried this.
ok i have mail2web set up but push email is not working. I have a t-mobile MDA with the new T-Mobile US ROM (the t-mobile provided rom) and if i send recieve i get my email but so far i have not received a push email..... any thoughts..... directpush is green in the connection manager.....

Is it possible to push from two different servers?
I have been using gmail for a long time. My biggest complaint is that everytime I sync it deletes all of the information that was downloaded the last time I synced. Someone recomended mail2web.com to use as an exchange server which works great. I didn't know my wizard could do push mail. Now that it does I would like to download my work email and my gmail, but keep them seperate. Is that possible? If it isn't does anyone know of a pop or imap service that works better then gmail? Thanks a bunch.

Has anyone had any problems with mail2web not syncing with MW 6.1..? Mine just stopped working this morning and I logged into my mail2web account and noticed they added changes to WM 6 users as your [email protected] was changed to username_mail2web.com and with theses changes it's still not syncing. This is driving me nutz as all my contacts are synced and 12 hours without syncing makes you loose all your contacts! Did I miss something??
My Mail2Web account works fine, pushes email to my phone fine. I've tested it out several times since I've been going back and forth between different ROMs.
Do you have the LIVE account which is free or the regular one. I have the live account and as of right now, its not working. I know alot of people at treocentral.com are having the same problem with treo 800w's as I am. Funny thing is it has been working flawlessly for the past week until this morning.

I have the free account, and just sent an email to it from my work corporate account and it went to my phone in a couple of seconds.
FYI - I have MRH 8.1 ROM running WM 6.1 build 20270 on a Hermes.
ok, weird how some users its working for and some it is not. Are you using windows mobile 6.0 or 6.1..? Also, are you using the WM 5.0 setting which have worked for me on WM6 for as long as I can remember or are you using the new setting that are listed on the mail2web site..? The difference is [email protected] vs. username_mail2web.com (which is listed for WM6 users) The big difference is when you use the WM6 settings it will not let you move on until you ad a domain which is ad2 for mail2web. Anyone elce having any problems?

WM 6.1, using the username format of [email protected] with no domain specified.
hmmm, ok thx. Very strange how my account is not working. I can view it and log in on their website but it just stays stuck on the syncing process on my treo. Strange.
Its now working. I had to disable the SSL. Something must be going on with their servers with some users. Buscuit, thx for the replys.
Just checked/sync'd mine ok. Not sure if it makes any diference but i paid for exchange 2007 account so my user name is [email protected] even though its hosted by mail2web.
I am however having issues with MX and "A" records, anyone here any good with that stuff?
I just emailed them about the problem and got this reply:
"Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
We are aware of the issue and are working with Microsoft to fix the intermittent downtimes that are occuring. We're sorry for any inconvenience and ask that you use your OWA to check your secure mail for now or disable your SSL option on your device to try to access the account."
Been struggling with this for a day or 2 now!

You say this is Microsoft HoTMaiL but is hosted elsewhere or did I misunderstand what you are telling me? I had a problem with a personal somain hosted by MICROSOFT but a couple of emails to support eventually fixed the problem.

Sorry for the confusion, with MS mail I mean the original mail client coming with the W6.1.
My personal domain is hosted by a provider which is not the same as for the GSM services.
Thanks

What mail client should I use to access comcast acctt ? I am a totla noob, get my G-Tab today. Need some expert advise on setup...
Your mail client can be found on Comcast website.
Your POP setting should mail.Comcast.com and yiu smtp should be smtp.comcast.
Since its on your mobile device you may have an issue sending or may not...but check their website as well if that doesn't work
Hope that helps

Ok, so a few days ago signed in with my user and pass & was able to get into yahoo for the stock email program.
Everything was working fine until i decided to send an email. User name and/or password invalid... Uhhhh what about all the emails I've been getting?
Ok, so I deleted the account and tried again.
User name and/or password invalid. What???!?! Ok so now I can't even add my yahoo account!
So i went to yahoo online, put in my user and pass - worked just fine.
What the heck? Has anyone else had any issues with setting up a yahoo email?
Thanks.
No problems here with yahoo email, send and receive just fine.
I'm using following settings :-
send
imap.mail.yahoo.com SSL 993
receive
smtp.mail.yahoo.com ssl 465
works a treat
Wow, thanks.
Very Strange that worked. It seems like HTC is added at the beginning of each imap and smtp server address.
I removed it at incoming and outgoing and it went through. Why the heck would HTC add those if they dont work?

Ah yes I recall that when I set mine up, like you say wtf is that about?
Did the same for me. Took off the htc . Works good now
Only reason I can think they would do that is maybe HTC is trying re route the mail to their servers to maybe push it faster?
I dont know, maybe its a beta thing and its still in its early days of testing. But I have set up 100 HTC phones and I have never seen HTC in the beginning of the server address.
But what really gets me stumped is the fact that the first 3 days I was getting mail WITH HTC in the front of all server addresses?
In addition to removing the htc. from the outgoing settings, check your username. When it sets up auto, it plugs in your entire email address. I had you remove the @yahoo from there also.
I like to use the yahoo mail client from the market. It pushes it I believe.
I have not been receiving emails from the stock Yahoo email program since yesterday morning but I can send emails from it. However, sending and receiving from stock Gmail works fine.
I tried the above settings (removing htc.), reinstalling Yahoo email, syncing, refreshing and rebooting, no help. T-mobile tech support says it may be a Yahoo server problem and only suggests to install Yahoo Mail app from the market (I did and it works, but I rather use the stock Yahoo mail).
Anyone has the same or similar problem w/ the stock Yahoo mail? Any other suggestions/fix?
I also tried removing the HTC from the settings and still won't receive any emails. I don't like using the yahoo mail app because it just add to battery usage since its pushed

I called HTC yesterday, they had me try these settings but DID NOT work for me:
For INCOMING server settings:
Protocol: POP
POP server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: SSL
Server port: 993
For OUTGOING server settings:
SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: SSL
Server port: 995
He said it is likely that Yahoo has problems connecting to Android and even Google has had similar issues. If this issue is not fixed before my 14 day return policy expires I will exchange for another phone.
Same problem on HTC Incredible 2, after alot of wasted time I couldnt get to work with IMAP settings I found a work arround to be able to use POP instead without yahoo plus. Sign in to your email, on the top where it says "hi (your email)" left click and click account in menu. It asked me to login again and took me to account info. scroll down and click "Set language, site, and time zone" set regional site as "Yahoo asia" and when you click on anything else it asks you to save, save. Now you can go into mail options and "pop and fowarding". Now you can setup a yahoo account with the default pop settings!!! and Yahoo mail works again on "mail app" !! : )
i tried that but the only options it gives me in the pop/fowarding is either have spam or block spam or foward to another email
Try This ..
Seems to work for me everytime ..
Yahoo
Incoming Setting
User Name:[email protected]
Password: Password of your yahoo mail
Incoming mail server: imap.n.mail.yahoo.com
Mailbox Name: Yahoo
Mailbox type: IMAP4
Security(Ports): Off
Port: 143
Outgoing Setting
Email Address:[email protected]
User Name:[email protected]
Password: Password of your yahoo mail
Outgoing mail server:smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Security(Ports): Off
Port:587

I think polling eats more battery life than push. If you poll your email your phone has to make a connection to the server to poll it for new mail. This happens every x amount of minutes or hours. So even if there is no new mail the phone still will connect to the server and uses data and when your using data you're using more battery. With push email there server pushes the data to the phone only when it has to resulting in less overall trips to the server. Say you have your email to set to poll every 30 minutes. Its now 9 am. At noon you receive an email. By that time if you were polling your phone would have polled the server 6 times. Sending data to the server and waiting for a response from the server. If you had your email to push then when you got the email at 12 then the server would push it at 12 and that's it... I always prefer push email over pull.

No don't mess with the pop spam pull down, you just have to check the dot that's just to the left that enables pop in general because its not enabled by default..

Using default settings w/ the older version of Yahoo mail works perfectly.
Unfortunately I am using the "New" Yahoo mail account which currently cannot be switched back to the older version.
I sent Yahoo Mobile team a message regarding this issue (not receiving incoming Yahoo email from stock app). I will follow up w/ their reply.
In the meantime I'm using Yahoo mail app from the market; not liking it and Gmail sounds very tempting

Please explain what you mean by the "older version" of Yahoo mail. I tried this as well with no success.
I have been in contact with htc about the problem and they maintain that the issue is with Yahoo and an "unstable" implementation on Yahoo's side. They claim this is why Yahoo released an Android app for their mail system. Asked why it seems other devices can connect, they replied that "perhaps other manufacturers have found a way around the issue and modified the mail app on their device accordingly". Outside of the usual reset the data for the mail app, and factory reset the device there appears to be no answer forthcoming from htc.
I am able to connect via POP, and for now I think that may be the best option...
"perhaps other manufacturers have found a way around the issue and modified the mail app on their device accordingl" how can HTC rep even say this there other HTC Android phones that don't have this issue
