a few things first.
1. I have the internet access block on AT&T's end.
2. I live in a area that is mostly edge only, but work in areas with 3g.
3. As far as I can tell, I have nothing that use GPRS turned on. (weather data is not set to auto update, no e-mail services, AGPS is disabled)
when I end a call in a edge network area, or restart my phone, I get the following error message
"There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in you registered home network"
I do not get this error when I am in a 3g service area.
Any suggestions?

is anyone else on t-mobile having data connection issues today?
I've had to hard reset my device this morning (had a nightmare after installing phonealarm and un-installing it) and I can't get my data connection to stay enabled.
active sync for my push email continually says "waiting for network" because it can't get a connection.
I have my connection set to "alwyas on" with config tools, but for some reason , it just wont stay connected!!
anyone know if it's a network issue today?
all fine in east london
seems fine down here on the south coast. How's your signal otherwise? is it jumping between GPRS and 3G?
I'm new to the Windows Mobile platform using GSM and I'm trying to understand the operation of GPRS connection. I have a PPC, HTC TyTn, and I use it to connect to the internet. Most of the time I get a good signal with the antenna and four or five bars next to it. I also get the E or G icon for the GPRS connection. Sometimes when I move into an area I get the antenna symbol with an "!" next to it and the "G" symbol. From my understanding the "!" means no service but I can still connect to the internet. My questions is, due you need phone voice service to get a GPRS connection.
Thanks
E
yes voice is the lowest common denominator
both gprs, edge, 3g, h use the same signals
and voice is the base
Thanks for your reply but I'm still confused. I understand gprs and voice use the same signal but my phone indicates "no service". I can't dial out or receive calls but I can connect to the gprs network and get on the internet. My understanding is "no service" means voice service or the phone could not register on the network. If this is true how can I get gprs service or connectivity .
2 reasons as i see it
1. i'm wrong
2 you are roaming on a network which for some reason only roam data
Hi, so parents are no longer paying for data service, so is there anything I need to do to ensure that I wont be using any data? (Besides turning off all auto update things)
because there is a thing that keeps popping up now, "cannot connect Dialed: ...answering modem has disconnected..."
and
"There is a problem connecting to GPRS service in your registered home network"

Click to collapse
there is a cab called ModacoNoData, which basically ensures that you dont use any data...you can toggle data on and off...just search and im sure you will find it easily
here's the issue: when I'm not connected to home network, wifi won't transmit/receive data. I have /!\ sign in the taskbar with explanation "data disconnected because your phone is in roaming network". No matter what I do, data will not work over wifi. The same wifi AP works perfectly when in home network... anyone have this problem? any clue how to solve it?
Try enabling data roaming. Setting>Wireless Networks>Mobile Network Settings
Check "Data Roaming" Connect to data services when roaming
Having a similar issue. I'm about 300 miles from home (Chicago) in Door County WI. Weak Edge signal here. Data works over WiFi, but not over Edge. I continually get a notification saying "You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming disabled". I now have it enabled, but the message sounds like I am SOL because I should have made the change before leaving.
To clarify, I enabled roaming 1-1/2 days ago, restarted several times and confirmed the roaming box is still enabled. But I continue to get the lost data notification.
Are you kidding me ATT? Is there no way to fix this without returning home?
update:
Sorry, I was wrong, I can access internet with roaming data, even with the "national data roaming" option OFF.
I just can't access any service of google
F the GFW!
It followed me to USA -_-b
--------------------------------------------------------
I am a Chinese and traveling in Fremont, CA, USA
I have national roaming service from my carrier, China Mobile
I can send and receive text message, voice talk does not work some times, and works in other time
and I can't access internet with mobile signal
when I try to set "National Data Roaming" option on, it looks "on", I can see some small data transfer on my status bar at this point
and each time I leave the setting page of that option, and enter the page once again, the option is OFF,
tried many times, just can't turn it on
I can see that I am connected to AT&T
I also tried switching to T-mobile, but still can't turn that option on, and still no internet
is this a bug of ROM, or there's other possibility(Carriers....)?
