I updated to the latest rom and now if disable TF3D I am unable to access/send text messages. I did use sprite backup and noticed a problem with e-mails when someone else did this. I can send/receive text messages fine if TF3D is enabled. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Nevermind, just did a hard reset. It must have been the sprite backup as it's working now.

Hi. My battery discharged and my phone did a hard reset. I have resynced, and everything seem fine, except that my sms / text messaging facility has disappeared. I have even tried restoring an old backup, but to no avail. There is no longer an option to send or receive text messages (sms's). If I go into messages, I only get MMS and Outlook as options (and the pop email account I've set up). I recently installed the latest ROM version 3/10/05 which came out in June. Can anyone help? :?:
for some reason, sometimes i get on my Treo with WM6 it says there is 1 Text message unread, but i open it and there is no messages.
is there a file that I can delete that i can have recreate.

I have 3 "unread" messages. Maybe because I recovered database from my previous systems.
All messages are stored in \Windows\PalmMsgV001 - you can delete it and have clear sms-database It will self recreate after running Messanging app.
I have another question.
I have upgraded from treo 750V Wm5 to wm6.
Before upgrading I made a backup with pimBackup of all contacts and sms. Once upgraded to WM6 i restored my pims data, everything goes well, but I cant find my sms... Nobody can help me?
PIMBackup doesn't backup smses on Treo

I was able to get PIM Backup to back up my SMS msg's. The thing is... the 750 combines both MMS and SMS msg's, so you cant restore them both at the same time. If you only restore the SMS msg's it SHOULD work. It worked for me just fine.
I prefer to backup \Windows\PalmMsgV001 from time to time just in case problems with smses. Once I had a problem and it drove me to hard reset because I didn't know where messages are kept...

I just had a question about trying to get threaded sms working after doing a Microsoft myphone sync.
Usually I will backup all my text messages using myphone update my Touch HD to a new ROM and restore all my messages.
However, whenever I do this my messages are never threaded properly.
At the moment for each conversation, all the received messages come first and then all my sent messages.
They also seem to be sorted with the most recent messages at the start, not at the end as they should be.
All new messages get threaded fine.
I've tried to change the settings to unthreaded and then threaded but this doesn't help.
Any help on how to fix this would be great.

My HTC says that i have 1 unread SMS.
There is no new message.
I have deleted all messages, and i still have this notification.
I tweak the register to change the HKCU\System\State\Messages\sms\Unread key to 0 but when in receive a message it says that i have 2 unread sms (the one that i received and the "ghost message")
I have of course made a soft and hard reset.
Can you help me?

Hard reset is pretty heavy stuff.....assume you have cleared your outlook account......

first of all a question. Are you really shure you've made a hardreset? I can't believe that this problem stays persistant after hardreset. I know this problem very well, but never after hardreset because all databases where reset by this.
But anywayy you should do a search within this forum for fixunreadcount.exe, this little program works very fine.

After the hard reset, the problem disappear but when i back up my messages it's come back.
I have this same issue sometimes.. the problem is MMS messages that are partially received and not opened.
There truly IS an unread message in your inbox! You're just not looking right! Have a look in the MMS inbox and SMS inbox !
Tip: try to sort the inbox view on message type!
look further on this forum for "reset sms counter" and similar words. You'll find some software to do that job!
Does anyone know of a way to back up just the settings in Handcent SMS? This way I won't have to re-set all of the numerous settings in this app after a hard reset. I'm not interested in backing up anything else except just the settings for just this program. Any ideas? Help is much appreciated!

Backing Up Handcent Settings, etc.
You can do that through Handcent now along with backing up your SMS and MMS messages.
In Handcent go to Menu>Settings>Account
You need to set up an online Handcent account and there is a very small annual charge - like $5 or so.
Once your account is set up you can backup and restore Settings, Themes, and all your messages.
It is so worth a couple bucks a year. For how often I'm always trying different ROMs and things I never have to reconfigure it or lose messages since I just backup before flashing and then restore.
