OK, I admit that I am new to all this WM stuff, so please bear with me. I have a couple of issues/questions:
1. My keyboard light goes out really fast, and it should (IMHO) stay ON when connected to a charger. Is there a patch for this?
2. When using PIE, I notices that I cannot access my online banking (bankofamerica.com) which I COULD do on my 680 and my old Tilt (I really hated that thing!) Would somone access that site through PIE on a UM6 upgraded machine? Just the homepage, I don't even get an opportunity to TRY to log in! I keep getting this message: "For security reasons, your device can't access Mobile Banking" (I also tried Opera and got the same response)
3. Has anyone managed to add the Automatic Pickup that exists on so many other HTC phones? I REALLY REALLY miss that feature!

I'm trying to get real data on how much use I get from my TC between charges. Is anyone running a utility to monitor the cumulative amout of time that you've had your device switched on for since the last battery charge?
I Googled and found a few apps but they were all last updated in 2005 or 2006 and specified Windows CE or Windows 2005 CE as the supported OS; although they probably are just fine on WM6 I'm always nervous of putting very old apps on my device.
Has anyone found anything more recent or already tried one or more of these old ones on their Touch Cruise and can verify that they work?
I have a preference for something that isn't a Today plugin, I'd rather just leave a straightforward app running in the background since I don't expect to always want to be monitoring this, but if a Today plugin as all that I can get then that's OK.
EDIT: Hi Milan - I just saw your reply to my post in your PowerGuard forum so it looks like we're communicating, albeit in a rather wierd way across two forums. Thanks for your attention on this, you are a real superstar!

Yes please! I did make a post about this on your PowerGuard forum, complete with some suggestions regarding a really simple way to implement it, but I posted from my laptop not my main computer so I didn't realise I wasn't logged on to your forum and my post appeared as being from "Guest" (but I did sign it with my name like I do on all my posts to any forum so that I can search on them at some later date if necessary).
My preference would be to add it to PowerGuard partly just to have one less thing to install but also because I suspect you already have a lot of the necessary code to support it in there already.

Well, I bought my vox today.
And it is really cool.
There are a couple of Questions I couldnt fix with the Help File.
For example, at the Home Screen on the Bottum you see: Start and Contacts.
Is there a way to change Contacts to Message or Send Text Message or something like that?

I'll answer the questions I know answers to and tell you that if you search you will find an answer, so here goes;
1). Yes. Search XDA for "Soft key changer"
2). That application is for PocketPC, it will not work properly on your Vox which is Smartphone/Standard.
3). Scapy does not work, as far as I am concerned PythonCE for Smartphones is a kludge.
4). There is a Java VM called Esmertec jBed. It should be able to run Super Puzzle Turbo Fighter just fine provided the resolution is within the Vox limits.
5). MiniStumbler does not work on the Vox, however WiFiFoFum does, it is completely free and has the same features.
6). MARS, there is no Windows Mobile or even CE port/release of this.

Ok, thats GREAT! I am going to get myself a Copy right away!

That other program is fine aswell. Just wanted to find WifiNetworks. ^^

I found a fix. PocketDOS!! ^^ I just run it on Dos.

You can also use Smarttweak v.1.07. It can modify alot in your vox and removes the message sent notification after sending an sms. There is a crack version here in one of the topics here. just look for it. ciao!

With the release of various new kitchens for the Herald/Wing, I'm sure there are going to be many newbie cooks with many newbie questions. I'm creating this thread as a place to ask our remaining Chefs questions in a central location to avoid them being bombarded in the various other threads. I define a "Chef" as those cooks who have released many flavors of ROMs, so presumably they know what they are doing, and thay are still cooking for the herald/wing... aka Ivanmmj, Ace10134, Apreichner, IllConcepts, etc. No disrespect intended to those great cooks who have released ROMs in the past, but have gone on to other projects, aka toadlife, ttran001, itje, Papamopps, Dutty, ICP, KidnamedAlbert, ginolin, and others... if you are still around, feel free to participate.
Please limit your questions to issues with ROM COOKING. Take a look at Ace's Guide to Cooking before asking. Then if all else fails... ASK THE CHEF.
Please state which kitchen you are using, which WinMo build, and as much detail as possible. If you get the answer, please update your post so that it is not answered multiple times.

Ok... I guess I'll ask the first question. I asked this in Ivan's SuperJustKitchen thread because it happened with his kitchen, but I'll ask it here for all the other roaming chefs and WinMo experts.
I cooked a spanish Rom for wm6.5 23016, using the default setting and adding a few items like voice command and .NETCF 3.7. The build was successful as well as the flash. Everything looks OK except that CABs wont install and Themes will not apply.
Ivan says he's looking into it, but I know he's busy. IllConcepts says he encountered this in one of his ROM builds but did not say how he resolved it. I would like to investigate the cause myself, but I'm not sure where to start. Can anyone tell me which program actually does the install of CAB files (when double clicked) so I can verify the file association in registry for CAB files. Also, how exactly are themes applied when clicked in the Today settings panel.
I haven't spent a lot of time on SJK yet. But when i tried it i couldn't install cabs or get an internet connections. Ivan can best answer that since its his Kitchen.

The CAB issue is only on the 6.5 builds and I'm looking for a fix right now.
The internet connection is because you didn't install and run Network Wizard. I'm going to guess that you use T-mobile. It seems that only T-mobile users run into the "problem" of the internet connection not working. (I think the average tmobile user is used to having a phone that is FROM tmobile and therefore already preconfigured by tmobile.)
lol ya the network config wizard was the cab I tried to install. Once the cab thing is worked out it will be easy sailing!

That would be cool! I am not 100% sure that it was the network setup i needed. When i would go to Setting/Connections/Connections there was nothing at all. Usually there is an "Add a new modem connection, Set up proxy, etc" But it was completely blank Except for the word connections on top. Usually on "Herald" roms on my wing i can manually do the wap.voicestream and be fine. I could be wrong however.... i am very new at this.
I recently installed the Rom for original windows mobile 6 from this site...I don't knw whether it is windows mobile 6 but it is working very well and I like it but there is a problem..the camera does not become bright like it used to when opened and the screen remains black..when press the capture button it shows an error...I have an htc tytn

Well we can't help you if we don't know what ROM you're using. You should really know which ROM you downloaded. But it sounds like you're using an outdated ROM anyways. Get a newer WinMo 6.1 or 6.5 one, they all work fine.
And, this isn't the place for asking that question, anyways. This thread is for asking the chefs on how to cook, not personal issues with ROM's.

Hey what's up? I noticed this is a fairly updated thread so I'll go on with my issue. I'm not very high tech with how things work but I like to try and experiment and make things work. I am trying to get touch flo interface on my PPC sprint 6700. I heard you have to cook it into the rom and that it can't be opened through .cab file on your PPC. I managed to find the kitchen at ppcgeeks and updated my APACHE to 6.5 This has taken up my whole weekend almost and I'm just looking for some relief on the whole guess n check method of trying to get **** to work right. If you think you could help me out on my issue I would much appreciate that.
