Not an exact answer to your question, but you can connect via bluetooth, if your computer has it, or if you have a bluetooth dongle on you computer.

Yes, but then I dont get the speed and range of a wifi network

You can use Google sync. but its limited to contacts and calender.
http://www.google.com/mobile/winmo/sync.html

you can use soti pocket controller

the sync of activesync can't even keep up with the speed of usb so
even back in the old days when activesync did support wifi sync
it was not faster then usb sync
but the feature was removed because of security issues

Bluetooth connection through activesync

Hi guys,I have a problem with my vox..I have a notebook with windows xp and activesync 4.5..I connect it to my phone easily using usb cable (also internet connection works),but there is no way to connect it through BT.I tried to add a new COM port by the phone port but i failed..Could somebody help me to fix this problem?Thank you very much,regards..
old active sync for Windows XP does not include BT connection for sync. Use Windows Vista where you can sync your device via BT. That is the only way how to use BT for sync.
bluetooth and active sync work perfect with xp, try to use generic microsoft driver for bluetooth

[Q] Cradle? Or dock? And what does "sync" actually means?

I want to buy this one:
http://www.sunnysoft.sk/zbozi/105PK...sation-xe-s-hdmi-vystupem-horizontalni-1.html
But I was wondering: What "sync" means?
Sync is short for Syncronization
Sensationaly sent from my Sensation.
I know that. But what synchronization stands for? Sync of what from what to what?

(A link to the manufacturer's product page for those who don't speak Slovak:http://www.kidigi.com/product_lv2.php?pid=1315)
Its probably a reference to the HTC Sync, which synchronizes between your phone & Outlook via USB.
[off-topic] If you were to ask my opinion (you didn't, but you get it anyway ), HTC Sync is a waste when Android phones come with the ability to synchronize wirelessly and automatically through Google to Outlook. But I suppose HTC was covering its bases for those who don't want to shoot all that information through Google's servers.[/off-topic]
But I will be able to transfer data when I connect cradle to my laptop, yes?

Yes.
It's just a charging cradle which you plug a USB cable into. If you connect the cable from the dock to your laptop you can copy files between the laptop and the phone.
I have the same dock in work and I just hooked a USB power supply to it and use it just for charging.
Well I'm not. It only charges, phone won't give me choice what type of connection I want. Bummer.

Really depends what ROM you are using.
If you have a stock rom (Original HTC ROM):
Drag your notification bar down and have a look around... select connection type... there should be a list of options including Charge only, USB Storage and HTC Sync?!?!
BTW, if you want to sync this way then you also need the HTC Sync program on your PC.
I don't use Sense so I can't help too much, Sorry.
If you have a custom ROM then read the thread for the rom.
EDIT: I just noticed, that cradle has 5v in and HDMI out, it doesn't say that it's suitable for USB Data transfer?!
Hope this helps
Nope, no connection type. Just charging.

That cradle only allows you to charge and connect via HDMI - NOT Sync!
Use a standard USB Cable and test!
Hope this helps
This is EXACTLY the reason why I was asking what sync means.

Updating Apps via Zune

Hi,
How can I update my Marketplace apps via USB/Zune. Everytime I click on Marketplace with the USB/Zune connected, it says sync complete please disconnect.
Also when I am connected via USB to my PC, does the phone use the PC's internet connection?
Thanks
AG
HTC Titan
Why not just update them on the phone? Use WiFi if they are big and/or your data plan is very limited, but no need to do it on the PC...
Access to the WP7 Marketplace was removed from the PC Zune software (it's possible to get it back, but something of a hack). However, the phone does still lock the full media library, which is integrated with the Marketplace, while connected.
If you really want to connect the phone to the PC (which does use the PC's Internet connection, so long as it's actually connected and not merely charging), but also want the media library unlocked, there's a tool called ConnectWP.exe that is just for that. You have to sync with Zune first. Look up online to see how to use it.
I agree, they won't allow Zune to access the Marketplace or WP apps.
You can update using WIFI/Data or if you hook your phone to your computer and exit out of Zune after it starts you should be able to access the internet on your phone. I love that feature!
thanks, how can you tell that it is using the PC internet connection when connected via USB?

Disable WiFi and mobile data and try
there should be a symbol to show it is using the PC connection:silly:

tethering question

I was wondering if it is possible to WiFi tether with the GN10.1?
I tried connecting the tablet to my PC via USB, but the tether option did not show up in the settings like it does with my HTC Amaze.
It is for me...
I have wifi tethered my table to my phone and my PC. You need the right software or know how to use netsh to make your PC a wifi hotspot.
Are you trying to use the WiFi on your tablet to give your PC Internet access? Presumably meaning your PC does not have a WiFi adapter of its own.
You probably need to look for an app for that. And/or a driver for your PC so that it can recognize the tablet, when connected by USB, as a USB network adapter.
