[WM Standard] 2104x Base Construction - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Hello,
Subject to the general. With the help of everyone in this topic understand the whole structure of the new version of WM Standard, which is 21040 and 21048.
The Tyn thread, I would like to express to all of the experience with this compilation.
My problem is not working (after porting ROM) keyboard. In truth is not working, no key in addition to the roll. A registry entry or a module option to block me in Samsungu i600.
Thank you in advance for the relationship and expression ....

Just a little sugestion >>

hello there!
i am new (4months) to this forum and i have some questions.
i red the wiki. but still some things are very unclear.
but my biggest problem si that i can't figure out how many versions of WM6 are there. all i count is:
1. Midget_1990 v.1.0
2. Universal WM6 Pro ROM
3. Jwrightmcps ROM update 2.02.02
4. Jwrightmcps ROM Update 2.02.00 WEE
5. WM6 CHT/.../DUT with Radio 1.15.00 from Darkforce
are there any others ???
i appriciate all the users that took part of those releases, i realy do appriciate their work, but i think this forum is a little bit unorganised.
wouldn't it be better to name all the WM6 versions in the same way like:
1. [WM6] [Midget_1990] [1.0]
2. [WM6] [Jwrightmcps] [2.02.02]
3. [WM6] [Jwrightmcps] [2.02.00]
etc.....
or something like this, somename that includes the version, the build number, the os number, and put them sepparatly on the top of the forum (sticky).
and i would suggest to keep modifying the first reply from the topic. the one that includes the description of the version and to add all the things that are discovered by users.
sometimes it takes 20 pages to get and to read a reply that says something that really matters to you. the rest is just "thank you" replies.
for example, if you want to use an certain program you might spend a few days reading the topic and find out that you shouldn't have upgraded your device because u cannot run the program.
i personally don't understand what is "Universal WM6 Professional ROM".
from the name of the thread, it is not verry relevant who build it.
and also why is this one "professional"? i would call "professional" the WM6 release from an official source like HTC.
i don't want to offend anyone with this topic.
i just struggle to understand for 2 weeks what is going on with al these versions.
and i hopped that at some point, someone will make a conclusion about evry WM6 version, something like:
"version no.1 crashes evry 20min, etc...
version no.2 doesn't have videocall, msn chat, office, etc...
version no.3 is the best of all but still hasn't got a videocall function. this can be fixed with the cab provided in the topic (link), etc..."
again, i hope noone is offended by my post.
i trully appriciate all your work, but i just think that it needs to be just a little bit organised. all that hard work and sleepless nights of the authors, need to be a little more easy to read.
thanks in advanced for your time and your understanding!

wm6 professional ala wm5 pocket pc
wm6 standard ala wm5 smartphone
this is the new naming convention used by M$
there is PDAVIET rom, helmis rom leo's rom and probably rom released by couple of other people
i guess the reason why you see different nomenclature used for the rom is because all rom makers usually work independently.(though i really like your idea)
as for some app being incompatible with one given rom... well i guess i have seen some people claiming that a particular rom broke an application while some one else will say that it works...and frankly speaking the rom makers can not update their bug log just because one guy claims so...

The link is concering the discussion on the what you called professional rom, the do or don't release of HTC wm6 build for the Universal and the hesitating behaviour of many rebranders.
it`ll get easier
The forum is diverse, this is a good thing, just a little confusing at first.
Also, as i understand it, english isn`t always the first language of all it`s members.(but all who post, post in english, for which i am profoundly grateful )

ordering them with tags like

[NEW 2009/12/31] [ROM] [WWE] [Kaiser/Tilt] [WM 6.5.3 23614] ARIADNA v207

[ROM] [WWE] [Kaiser/Tilt] [WM 6.5.3 23614] ARIADNA v207 + LZX [ 101Mb + Chome + Greatbal Shadow Neo Skin] [colours and icons modified]
Proudly I can announce my new Ariadna ROM version for Kaiser and also for Tilt. As I told once, my ROMs are not the best. In fact, they don’t improve anything. Simply, they have the basics that I need for my usual life - there are some other specialized apps that I don't cook here. But even if those ROM’s are not good, even if they lack in lots of things, I cooked them carefully and with love.
It's based on build 23614 - this is the WM6.5.3 LG branch but it seems to work well on our Kaisers. I tested it during more than 10 days and finally today is the best moment to launch it to the World. Tilt version is not tested but the only change is in the keyboard mapping. Maybe I should change anything on the camera apps/settings.
As most of you know, I have no experience in programming or developing - my specialities are in other areas like planning, design, landscape, and environmental law. But lots of people helped me to dive into this kind of drug which is Windows Mobile and all its capabilities and I finally could cook three good ROMs.
What's inside:
No games, no Live, no Transcriber, no Welcome Center, no MS Tag, no OneNote, no Skybox neither SkyMarket.
You'll find some Office appas such as MS Office and Adobe Reader; also, MyNote, iContact and some other minor apps.
There is also the new beta of TotalCommander, compatible to the bottom bar of WM 6.5.x
And it works well with Showcase. and with the 2G patched version of the Mega phone.
25984 free kB on Slot 0
About 122 Mb on Storage, 103 free; abut 101 Mb on RAM, more than 56 free.
See the images to read the list of everything installed and see the screens.
No important issues found. Only, you must configure the hard button mappings in some cases, using the stylus and going to Settings/Personal/Buttons, because in some devices the map is missing and the device freezes when pushing on one button. And if the device is locked, you can't answer using the hard buttons, but I did not try to correct the default registry for this.
I developed it during my nights, and there are about 120 versions of this one till it booted and was shown in the way I wanted. BUT what I finally did was only choosing the correct files, editing some .provxml's and initflashfiles.dat and click on the "Cook It" button on Oskitchen.
There are no Cinderella and Princess versions because, like Jeckyll and Hyde, every girl is simultaneously a Cinderella and a Princess. And thus, this ROM takes the name of my daughter Ariadna. And her image is beside the flags of my 2 beloved countries: Catalonia and Occitania, both under foreign domination now.
Hope you enjoy it. Refer to "About Ariadna ROM" for credits to all known people in this ROM and DONATE to them if you fell it useful. Visit also www.suportalessandra.com
Support and fixes for this ROM will be limited as I have no time and no experience. But I thnk you won't need it: it's easy to use.
There won't be new versions till an important build will appear. Last version was a 23016 cooked last august.
Please read carefully the sickies about "how to flash" and the wiki.

Hi,
You say that your ROM is VOIP enabled. Can you explain what you mean by that?

I (only) mean lots of ROMs are cooked without VoIP files, and then it's more difficult to reinstall them. In this one, I did not discard VoIP files.

Well, if you are looking for an innovative, revolutionary ROM for Kaiser, then you're true. Mine is not for you.
WM was made by MS guys (and girls). Builds were searched, found and downloaded, and ported, by other people, not me. Hacks like 101 Mb RAM were developed by other people, not me. Fixes were made by other people, not me. And the kitchen is made by other people, not me. So that yeah it's possible nothing is different in my ROM.
My only responsibility is having spent many hours and days during the last year searching and downloading "how-to's", wiki pages, registry explanations, and lots of CABs with fixes, utilities, tricks. My only responsibility is having mixed them in the way I found, during last year, they work better "for me". Some ones ported from a device or developed by one person; some others developed by another person. Some are older versions which I prefer to the new ones.
Today I added a cheese to my ravioli. But that kind of cheese and that ravioli were made by other people, not me. The only I did is take "that" cheese and not another one, and buy those ravioli and not other ones.
Of course, speaking about me thus is the most sincere way. I'm not a lyer, and I can't tell "this is the best ROM, developed entirely by me" 'cause I only decided which ingredients I put, but credits are, must be, to the persons who searched, ported, developed, hacked, built and shared with us.
About the names history, everyone gives a name to the things, and place an identificative image. I like to know why a ROM is called as it's called. And the circumstances are what they are, so I told thus.
That's a nice and functional ROM which needs improvements, but it works well day to day, that's what I need and what I can share till now. I'm trying to improve it testing other builds and putting/throwing some utilities or modifying the versions (i.e. Mega, Opal or Jade ported phone?) to my taste. I try to modify some PNGs to have a better view (for me). And flashing again and again (and getting stuck in bootloader, also) to improve this ROM.
But nothing if you don't want to test it. You'll find others better than this one, of course. Using less space and having better graphics/sounds. I don't force you to flash this one.

Hi Shane, it's not the first. It's the THIRD !! I began last august with builds 23009 and 23016 but I wanted to solve some things with initflashfiles.dat and some others, so that the version could be considered a good tool.
Later I burnt my computer, and with the new one I had several problems using OsKitchen (I suppose something was corrupted in the hard disk I rescued from the old PC).
Then, you know, I tried lots and lots of times to cook and flash with bad results.
This ROM is also not the first for this build, but I was "refining" it till I considered it's capable to be used by other people without getting angry with me .
Truely, I learned lots of things from your posts, cooking classes, etc.
(you'll read your name in the credits inside the ROM if you try to test it)
Thanks !!!
Nice job bro
thanks for your so HARD working ,I will flash this and give my feedback

I only edited initflashfiles.exe and shellres.dll, and changed some colours in some PNG's or some font styles.
For the rest of the features, hard work is from lots of other people, all they working here at xda-dev's for everybody.
Glad if you give feedback. I tested during 10 days before posting it as public, so that I could be sure it works. But trere's always a bad surprise to fix.
Thank you

New to Mobile Development. Some questions

Hey, I'm new to the forum and new to mobile development and hope to become a part of this thriving community. I have a few questions about development in regards to WM 6.1 and the Touch Diamond 2 (known as the Topaz here).
My first question is to do with the first application I deployed as a CAB to my phone today. It runs but when I try to enter information on a textbox the button to bring up the keyboard isn't there. I'm guessing there must be some coding involved to bring this up? Could anyone help me on this? If it's not coding, then what can be done to fix this?
Edit: Thought I should also mention that because it is a simple application (not Hello World) that I decided to code it in Visual Basic. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition and the 3.5 .NET Framework and the WM 6 SDK and some WM 6.1 resources (Emulator images)

I am also looking for developing some application for my diamond2...
Any pointer for start in these place?
I am reading msdn... but very lengthy.

Samsung SGH-i617 (Blackjack II) WM 6.5 ROM Cooking

Hello, I've currently acquired tools from various threads and am new to cooking, from what I've attempted to do, I was able to dump the WM 6.1 i617 pda.bin and looked around the OEM folder. However, I'm not sure where to obtain a 6.5 pda.bin to merge (if that's what you'd do to cook)..
I'm using nhathoa's 6.1 kitchen in an earlier thread here to take out the contents..and I've been looking at nokser's i600 6.5 pda.bin. What i did was dump the 6.5 bin and then tried to merge the 6.1 bin and then build a new one, but for a file that has consolidated into 7 mb (opposed to the 53+ mb from the factory 6.1 bin) pda.bin.
Now, i'm aware of the hazards to a firmware update..and while yes, I'm taking quite a giant leap here, I would like an expert to confirm my procedures if they would yield a positive result (WM 6.5 on my Blackjack II) or would end up in utter chaos if I were to try and flash this frankenstein of a rom. If not, would anyone be able to steer me in the appropriate direction?
Also, I have heard of a display issue with the Blackjack II on cooked roms with WM 6.5, and I'm hoping to fix it by finding the right combination of files either through experimentation with i600 (Blackjack I) bins or the i637 bins (the Jack I think?).
Let's hopefully kickstart this project!
I wish I could be of more help, but I have not cooked a ROM before. I would however be very appreciative if I could find a polished WM 6.5 ROM for the BlackJack II though. I saw some topics over at another forum regarding the display issues and how items wont be transparent, but I have hope for this project because the Samsung Jack is a WM standard device running 6.5.

I know that we've run into some minor trouble, but using the 6.5 rom, it's fine despite a few minor issues. If you want, the thread is a good read, it might serve your needs and the visuals are good, also comes with the samsung wizpro interface too, albeit a few tweaks necessary to get the text adjusted accordingly.

can you substantiate what you are refering too?
As far as I know there is NO other roms available for download besides 6.1 standard from AT&t or samsung. NOTHING cooked.
Am I wrong?
And as far as I rmemeber, it's because nobody could flash it to the device.
Please tell me I am wrong as I have killed my kaiser and am back on BJ2 and would LOVE another ROM.

py8, a wonderful contributor to the scene, has created a WM 6.5 cooked ROM for the BJII/i617. This was as of 12/30/09, and so far there's not much development or updates yet. Thing is, there are just minor issues, the worst being (IMO) to be a clock delay which i'm still having trouble with. If you want, the thread is quite the read. I summarized all of our findings on post 2, and if you wish to read up on recent events, read the most recent post on the thread and move back. The first few pages of the thread were related to translating an older py8 rom which was chinese that we tried to localize properly, until py8 developed specifically an ENG/USA rom.
