att bill of $1000.00 - Touch Pro, Fuze General

im using energy rom 3.0 50109 on my fuze and got this outrageous bill from att stating i used excessive data. if i ever got on the internet was using wifi. i know the data connections button was always off and the gprs auto connect disabled. is there another setting i missed?

It's gotta be a mistake on their part.
Look at your bill line-by-line and compare it against your previous bills so see if the data usage is about the same.
Also review your sign-up plan to see what you're data rate per month is. If it turns out you're not on a 3G (Enhanced Data Plan) then it's possible that you were billed at the Cellphone Data Plan rate - here in Canada we have:
Enhanced Mobile Data Plan (aka 3G) = 1Gb/mo, $30/mo
Mobile Data Plan = 2Kb/mo, $15/mo (intended for basic WAP phones, goes through a proxy)
Good luck,

i will do that. i know i dont have a data plan but i do have unlimited sms/mms and when i signed up att said their media net/ gprs needed to be enabled in order for me to send pics and video. like i said, any data was through wifi. But i will take your advice and thanks for the reply hilaireg!

Its definitley a mistake on their part. I started using Energy Rom 3.0 and I haven't gotten an outrageous bill like that. And I pretty much went through all the settings in the rom to disbale GPRS use.
In the past, occasionly AT&T has done retarted things, like charging me $30 for going over my SMS plan. What they did was the they combined the number of texts I sent/recieved for 2 months and billed me on that.
And it is really frustrating that I still haven't gotten my $30 back to a point where I don't care anymore. They can have it. I'll just think of charity.
Now 1 grand is a different story...unless you REALLY feel like being generous and helping the CEOs out

It isn't a mistake on their part, your phone must have somehow used the data connection without you knowing it. 100MB at the PPU rate is $1000. It is possible that you thought WiFi was on but really wasn't connected.

i think if his wifi was off it he would know cuz when ur wifi comes on, immediately it pops up all the wifi within the area and ask which one to connect, unless he is using a existing one, which should of showed the wifi icon regardless, our bill *am under a family plan* was recently over charged apperent for something i downloaded said att, but my mother never got to the buttom of it.
funny thing is i dont even use att service, expect maybe for mms which is unlimited and so is sms
oh and am using energy rom am using xECK29x Premier Series

The same thing happened to me. I called them, spoke to possibly the nicest woman in the world and she fixed everything and then gave me 40 dollars off. It worked out for me... give it a try. can't hurt.

Remember that even when you are on WiFi, default for AT&T (if you run connection manager) is to go through mediaNet to download data, not WiFi. Even so, speak to CS and they will most likely take that off. Also, remember to ask them to put data block on your plan if you are not planning on subscribing to unlimited data. Peace of mind.

i had about $300 in data usage once, and they removed it when i said ill add unlimited data, so maybe try that....

energy roms have 3g turned on as preset, you have to disable it from the comm manager. you can see it's on and you can see it connecting -sometimes even when the wifi is on too. NRG also has an application called "disable data" which does exactly that, never allowing 3g or other stuff to connect if you don't want them to. good luck!

Thing I did after freaking out at a $3 bill--I called them and had them completely disable data (picture messaging included) from my account--
Problem solved.

Super Bill!
Here's what you can do to add data.
First off, get yourself a POS phone like an LG Shine or some other dumbphone that can get on the internet.
Pop your sim card in, wait a few minutes, and then call at&t.
If you have unlimited texting, data is only $10/month. If you don't have texting, data will be $15/month. Once it is added, just switch your sim card back to your fuze.
I've been doing this with the Fuze and iphone with no overages for about eight months.

I have internet with no data plan??

I seem to be able to get internet and go to any site I want to when I connect T-Zones. But I do not pay for any data plans at all, just my Get More 600 plan. Is this normal? Am I going to get billed if I use it? It is using minutes instead?
Be carefull. T-Mobile will let you access what you like without a data plan but charge you a fortune for it!!!!
First time I did it, I downloaded a few emails and before I knew it my data cost was over 90 pounds!
Ring them and check your current bill/plan.
same happened here on cingular. It adds up fast. (im currently looking into how to prevent the un-intentional ussage of such a feature. ITs on by default. Scarry.
Be very careful! Many providers do that, if you did not purchase data plan then you will most likely pay much more than expected.
If you disconnect very often then it will make it worse because they count data transfer in big blocks for example 50KB instead of real usage.
Some even round up data blocks every hour, so if you use 10KB and stay connected then in an hour they will round up for you, as if you used 50KB - which you did not.
I don't know about T-Mo USA, but T-Mo Hungary has a default data plan pretty much for everyone. It has no monthly fees but the data is very expensive and has a daily activation fee.
I too appear to be getting free internet/wap/gprs. I sent in a message to T-mobile USA and they said that I was NOT getting charged for my usage and that they were probably doing work in my area.
I expected them to say "Oh, you are getting free service! Well lets fix that right away. Please forgive us for this heinous inconvenience, sir." but the gut just shrugged it off.
Despite this, I don't use it incessantly. I figure they'll surprise me with charges sooner or later.
prepaid
I been getting free internet by using a prepaid sim(no charge to credit in account) for the past week or two but i havent had a chance to test this on another wizard and a different sim. I think its a problem with tmobile like when you could send free sms through gprs on some nokia phones and tmobile could not notice how many you were sending. if you tried this pim me with the results

Can I use a 'used phone' on AT&T with no data plan?

Considering an upgrade from my 8125/Wizard (no AT&T data plan) to a Tilt/ Fuse/? (something cheap, in good-great condition, 400MHz+, GPS, ???).
Will AT&T require me to upgrade to a data plan if I just stick my SIM card in a phone I buy here? Does "unlocked" really matter any more? I've heard they are detecting device ID's and forcing data plans based on that.
Thanks!
Data Usage is sneaky!
Well, here's what I think about that. They won't force you to get a data plan, but I highly advise it, as your phone will use the data whether you physically go on the internet or not. At least that is my experience with it. I let my niece use my Tilt with her sim card which had no data plan, only texting and my next phone bill was an extra $100. It was still accessing the net for stuff, even though I turned off the auto update for weather. So, my advice would be, if you are going to get a smart phone, get a plan with it. It's worth it in the end I think. Oh yeah, MMS also uses data...

Some people have internet (wifi) wherever they're at so there's no need for a data plan. Also, MMS is free if you have a texting plan so it uses data, but doesn't charge you for it.
To the OP, if you get ANY phone outside of ATT (Marketplace, Craigslist, etc.), you don't have to get a data plan.
Thanks for the feedback. I have had an 8125/Wizard for several years with no data plan. As also pointed out, MMS does work without data plan. Well sort of... I can rarely get them to go through, but we don't get charged for it since we have the AT&T messaging plan. $30 /mo for data is just outrageous to me, I pay less than that for reliable/fast internet access at home.

Skype over 3G Data Only plan

I've always liked the versatility of a PDA/smartphone but I could never justify the cost of a voice plan that I barely use and a data plan. It occurred to me to try getting a data only plan and running Skype with a subscription for the few voice calls I get. I'm hoping someone here has tried this before and can give me some feedback on their experience.
AT&T's coverage maps claim Houston is blanketed in 3G/HSPDA. For the majority of my day I'm in a WiFi area and not really mobile too much, but the quality of both the call and 3G service when driving around Houston is still a slight concern.
What will happen to my phone number when I switch to a data only plan? If I keep it, what happens when someone tries to call it or send me a text message?
I can't really upgrade to a smartphone to try it out and drop the data plan if it doesn't work, considering AT&T has made data plans mandatory for smartphones, and I'll be stuck paying for one.
Huh, that's very nice!

Yes I suppose it is. Instead of paying $50 for a bunch of minutes I don't use, I can pay $35 for unlimited data and messaging and a couple $ more for unlimited calling and a phone number with Skype. I end up paying about the same amount but getting a much better deal.
IF it works. I've been able to test a call on Verizon but that doesn't tell me anything about AT&T's data network. I tried streaming Pandora while driving when I got my current phone and that was a disappointment - though I think the Pandora app was the majority of the problem. Still, I have no idea if the call quality will be terrible or if calls will be dropping on me while having full signal, etc, etc. Has anyone tried this recently?
It's a little bit expansive...
Just to make sure, I'll drop it after this: There is no one out there who has tried this already?
haven't / cant try it here, often wondered about this too. id say double check att's buyer remorse policy (i think its 30 days return) make sure you can undo any contract changes, but take the phone and try it. all you would stand to lose is the time lost with returning bureaucracy, a small risk given the potential reward
Sprint sell smartphones with data only plans
including plam pre and touch pro 1 & 2 with 2 year contract what's great about it's the data plan is just $30
http://www.sprintrelaystore.com/
they don't ask for proof that you are really are deaf
Still being under contract with AT&T kind of limits me to sticking with them. As soon as I can get some pricing for upgrade on the LG Expo's, I'll probably be moving ahead with this. I spoke with three people at AT&T to make sure there wouldn't be any trouble and confirmed I'll be able to get the data only plan on a smartphone and fulfill the data plan requirement.
The plan isn't actually just data with voice disabled, it's really the reverse of a regular voice plan: package with minutes, billed per Kb of data usage VS unlimited data package, voice/messages billed per minute/message. Beauty of it is that you can forward incoming calls on your cellphone and you won't be charged - which solves the problem of everyone still calling me on my cellphone.
Unfortunately sms/mms will still go through and I'll be charged. Still working out the kinks on that. I figure I'll have to start giving out a different number at some point in time so I'll probably use Google Voice for this and forward SMS to email, but that doesn't work for MMS. Maybe I'll just have to get the cheap messaging plan, or maybe just eat the cost of the occasional MMS. Unless I can also forward messages to a different number or email from the phone which would just solve everything.
Of course, none of this is a problem for me, but trying to make this seamless and hassle free for people calling me is the goal.

also - skype absolutely drains the battery. we are talking 1-2 hours of standby time before the battery goes from 100% to 0%.

FYI, AT&T still doesn't have the eXpo, but RadioShack is selling it right now. I upgraded mine for $149.
In the UK we have "Three", They allow skype calls on their mobile phones and offer plans for as little as £15 with unlimited texts, unlimited internet, 200 minutes and unlimited skype usage (I believe it comes with "SkypeOUt" or whatever it's called). Skype to skype calls are always free even if you are on pay as you go (Prepay) and have no credit!
If you don't have something similar in the US then it will more than likely come soon as this sort of thing is starting to catch on. It's actually quite encouraging because if Google Voice does launch over here and google plans on having a "google voice" only mobile phone then three would be a network willing to consider it.

I take it you've tried it out then. My phones are usually docked while I'm at work and when I get home they might go 3 hours before it's back on the charger for the night.
If you don't mind, what carrier and city, and around when did you try it out? Was it over WiFi or 3G?

AT&T Fuze without data plan?

I bought a used AT&T Fuze online, and it came yesterday. I popped my SIM in, and this morning, I received a text message saying a data plan is required for all smartphones. I called up AT&T and got my IMEI changed and cancelled the data plan. Is there a way to prevent AT&T from charging me for the data plan, so that I can just use the phone without internet access (excluding Wi-fi, obviously)?
I have the same question. Back in October I had a Tilt that didn't have the plan - activated it and had been using the plan until mid January - the phone was stolen out of my car. Using a Blackberry now and they automatically stopped the data plan. I have a new Fuze on the way and don't want to pay the 30 per month as I can use WIFI almost anywhere for free.
Read that their policy is that if you have a smartphone they'll will automatically charge the 30 and activate you if you activate a new phone - but it doesn't specify whether the "new" phone is purchased from them or just through a change in recognition via the SIM.
When I looked at my account in January there isn't an option to disable the data plan - used to be there - so I'm thinking you use a Smartphone you have to pay. Seem to me a class action lawsuit should be in the works. Many use the phone as a PDA and don't care if we have access 24/7.
Maybe if they upped their speeds and coverage for 3g while lowering the price say to 10 to 15 it would be worth it.
So I'm guessing it can't be done? darn. Damn AT&T!
Unlock it and use t-mobile; that may be your best bet.
i bought my fuze with no data plan so there shouldnt be a problem. as long as you didnt purchase where u received a discount for signing up for a data plan
I bought it used, and it automatically charged me

I didnt have that problem with AT$T, actually.. i just recently put my wife's sim into my old fuze. with the exception of getting charged for unwanted data that got downloaded automatically, she has had no problems. she doesn't use the internet so it is fine. I just had AT&T block any data from her line. ( her line is no longer under contract, and i would like to keep it that way...)
I do actually have a question of my own... (didn't want to start a new thread)....
she does want to send and receive picture messages, we have unlimited messaging, but with the fuze you must have data in order to send or receive MMS. AT&T thinks she still has her old razr.
I would like to set her up with unlimited data plan for the razr, which is only like $10 per month, and was wondering if this would work with the fuze and what settings i might need to change to make it work.
thanks

Sorry, but from how it looks now.. No you can't.. if you use Data, they will catch you that you are using a Fuze... the only "work around" I know is this... She can set up a yahoo, gmail, or simmilar account to just use with her phone... Then whenever she is in a WiFi area, she can send and receive picture email.. she can take the picture and compose them anytimes.. just has to wait to send them til she can use the WiFi.... MMS accounts can both send and receive with people who use email.... where they put in the send, instead of a phone number, they just put in an email address (go ahead, try it yourself, I know you want to )
As far as her sending her pictured emails to peoples phones, she just needs to know what carrier they use.. Then enter their #, and the rest of their
"email" address from this site : http://modmyi.com/wiki/index.php/MMS_Email_Addresses
She can avoid having to look up their address if the person who wants to share pictures with simply sends a message first to her phones email account using their phone... Then she just simple has to reply I know this is probally not the answer you were looking for, but it woudl work and save you having to pay the $35 for AT&T PDA Data....
I've never had a problem not having a data plan on my account. I bought it refurbished from AT&T and there was no data plan required for activation. I even temporarily added a data plan, then took it off again the next day just last month. I was never hassled or given the run-around at any point. Maybe you should just try changing the IMEI back to the Fuze and see what happens. It might also be a good idea to install NoData and disable the two data connections first, just so it never tries to connect.
I also dont want a data plan( cant afford it). My question is how can i make it not use wap for internet and only use wifi, when i do need it to receive data for mms. Thats included in my messaging plan but I have par per use internet and media net. I want to make sure that it doesnt connect to the network for internet or media net and I can only do internet through wifi. How do I do this? I tried just turning data off but it automatically turned back on when i hit the browser. How do i make it only use wifi? Thanks

You can always get a data block on your plan, so when you accidentally try to use data, it wont connect, thus making ATT not know you have a PDA... therefore wifi is the best and only option!

I used to have an old Samsung flip that I actually flipped into two pieces. When I replaced it with a used Blackjack I simply went into AT&T and had them add the $30 MEdia Net package (Unlimited Data, Unlimited Msgs) because it showed that I still had the old Samsung flip. I had been using my Blackjack for about 2 months and there was no recognition. Now I'm using the Fuze with no problem. As long as your plan doesn't show that you are using a smartphone (IE you bought one from them) then you should be ok. I've been doing this for over a year with no problems.
In the same boat. Just bought a Rhodium & I'm wondering what I can use my Fuze for. I wanna give it to my dad whose line has no data, or use it as a back-up and cancel my handset insurance. Can I switch between devices on my sim which has a data plan? Can I use it as a wi-fi only browsing device(my Tilt 2 won't connect via wi-fi, it seems, the SIM having never been installed)? I could try data block on the account or data block software & put his SIM in. I thought the rationale for the data plan requirement was that the company could only make a profit, while subsidizing the price of these devices, by charging more than a fee for monthly voice service over the term of the contract and that, after the contract, the device is now mine(not rendered useless as even a phone should one not have a data plan), free and clear, to do with as I wish, or at least to use wi-fi without a plan(like my Tilt 2 is not doing)
When I got my FUZE in April, 2009 the saleswoman said that I could cancel the data plan in 6 months.. Online there was never an option to disable the data plan so I called and had it canceled that way. Now that it was canceled though, online does show that there is an option of no data plan. I bet though if I re-added the data plan that disable option will disappear again.
You can use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610657
to block your data from ever being used. I use this to turn off AT&T ISP GPRS and MEdia Net. You can still send/receive texts and go online through WiFi.
@TheGlowingCurve, I don't believe just being an unlocked phone helps, my previous phones are all unlocked now but if I put my SIM in them again, att.com immediately changes my account's phone picture and model to the phone the SIM card is in. They know ALL about what phone you're using.
EDIT: I've never understood the relevance of http://www.htcclassaction.org/ to the Raphael. That site says there is no 3D acceleration or acceleration of videos and whatnot but of course there is acceleration. There is an ATI driver cab and it allows running of 3D programs like Diamond Hologram and COD2, not to mention TouchFLO3D and Sense UI. I don't even think that driver cab is needed because I honestly don't even install it. Video acceleration may not work in CorePlayer, but the solution is easy, don't use CorePlayer! The included Windows Media Player and Album programs are both accelerated and capable of playing H264 videos smoothly. The problems mentioned in http://www.htcclassaction.org/ have nothing to do with our phone and in the site's updates (which are all at least 2 years old!) it even says the Touch Diamond at release had 3D capabilities already.
I'm pretty sure your issues with the FUZE have to do with WM itself, not with HTC's phone.
I too had a tilt, but i put the sim card in teh new fuze i bought. Both of my phones have no data.
I got some bull**** out of them in december when i asked. But i called in the other day, and it was like oh yeah np. No more data.
Because i was a cingular customer im grandfathered in. If you had a PDA prior to november of last year, you also are grandfathered in.
dont take no for an answer.
Just to be clear, ive now shut data off and turned it on on the fuze alone 6 times. LOL

So you bought the FUZE after November of last year?
Did you have to call them each time to shut down the data plan? Is the charge for that prorated?
lol so now that AT&T removed their unlimited data plan and introduced limited data plans, what happens with future smart phones? Will AT&T require the higher priced data plan?

Using the Fuze with no data plan and using WiFi.
Well there's actually some things to keep in mind here. Being that I have had some experience with AT&T smartphones for busiensses, I know that this is a sore spot to their network users. If you're using a PDA and haven't switched the IMEI online, you're bound to receive a bill from AT&T if you're using the WAP settings from the stock AT&T ROM build. To get around this, unlock your SIM, change the IMEI online, use NoData, and set up your phone to search and prompt you for WiFi hotspots. Turn the phone off or to Airplane mode also from the connection manager. There are plenty that are free once you're in their area, or near an open private WIFI network area. Simply connect, and send all of your data via Wifi connections. This will keep the device from auto-detecting the AT&T WAP and/or using the WAP settings.
One extra step that I take is to erase your WAP data completely from the connection manager so that it's not automatically recognizing the AT&T network settings. You can then choose your settings when needed using any GSM network anywhere in the world, but be careful! This can be expensive if you're not watching your settings. Unlocking your SIM is a MUST! If you're smart, you can set up a T-Mobile prepay account to use the partner(AT&T) GSM network when needed, if needed. This will normally cost you $.99 per day to use.
I hope this helps you better understand the WAP settings. One note.....trash the stock AT&T ROM for one that you'll find here on this site. There have been many that have worked hard to modify this device so that you can fully experience the device fully.
ok i bought my fuze from someone here at xda and he wasnt sure if it is unlocked or not
how can i find out i dont have access to a tmobile sim ..how do i change the imei online

I'm just curious if ATT is just bluffing? Are there tethering solutions that hide activity from ATT? PDAnet claims it does, but you have to pay $15 to get full version that accesses secure sites. However I have no idea what PDAnet does to hide it, or it if it works.
Stock roms will have a program that sends data to att on what type of data is being downloaded. From that, they will know if you are tethering. Custom roms removes that useless program, but crazy big data usage will probably get you in hot water.
Many of us that were running stock roms got the letter/text/email
They did not change my plan....but I stopped did not tether afyer getting the warnings.
Was in a bbind last week and tethered for a few hours and nada....no warnings etc.

I got the message today and I called about it. I don't know how it is they know or can detect it. I stream a lot, but I haven't tethered in over 2 months. Somehow they just target big data users, apparently and assume the worst. I'm going to unroot and s-on my phone and take it in to the store and see what they have to say..
I dont have unlimted data, but i teather My laptop ALL the time at work.....watch netflix, or hulu, even download roms......i never go over 2gigs because thats all i have on my Plan......but i have never gotten a letter or text.
i think its just for the Big Data users<<<
another good reason to root/ and install a custom rom
I tethered a bunch last year when I had my iPhone, I am still currently on the "unlimited" data plan.
I just put the MIUI rom on my phone a couple weeks ago, and tethered to my wife's tablet. She only checked a couple web pages to verify it worked.
The other day I get the email telling me if I don't stop tethering after October 31st I will be charged and put on a tethering plan automatically.
I wonder if they looked back as far as a year and totaled up all my tethering..
Are they really just going after the "unlimited" users??
If that is the case, I will tether through my wife's captivate running MIUI rom, as she is on the 2GB data plan, and just monitor as to not go over...

I've never used over 1gig and I got a letter. I only tethered very briefly 5-6 times I have had the phone. Once for a few hours but just browsing no downloading or anything (internet outage) but that was months ago as well.
Speaking of data plans, I gave my old HTC Pure to my brother. He had a "dumb" phone with no data plan previously, but when I put his sim in and fired it up, it used a little bit of data. Therefore, AT&T signed him up for a data plan automatically. He called about it to cancel and they refused to let him off of the plan because he's using a smartphone. I know AT&T requires a data plan with the PURCHASE of a smartphone, but I didn't think you had to purchase one for merely using a smartphone. I think this is down right false. What's the story?
You have to look into blocking AT&T from seeing your phone as a smartphone which is changing the IMEI which is also illegal to my knowledge. Some people call in and change the imei every time it changes.

You can change the imei all you want but att still ends up finding out you are using a smartphone. I get calls about the same issue everyday. Put your sim in a blackberry and use data and now u have a bb data plan. My imei shows all 1s and unknown manufacturer but still reads as a smartphone. Atts systems arent as stupid as most of you think

If your IMEI number shows all 1's then AT&T shouldn't notice you are on a smartphone. If they notice then there's anothing thing with your APN settings because as far as I know the IMEI number shows up in a system not our billing system but another system where I can tell you what time and day and phones you have used and switched from to.. etc..

I tether all the time. Custom Rom. No calls or issues.
In all the time I've done support for my organization across all the smartphone carriers (BES setup/smartphone support/etc), I've never seen any customer have a data plan 'automatically' added to their plan. Every single time, it simply fails to load webpages unless we get on the phone and make sure their data is configured in their wireless plan. I am fairly confident that when people think this happens automatically, it's because they did something wrong or agreed to a data-as-you-go option.
Just the other day I had major issues trying to set up a Blackberry on BES after moving the SIM over from an iPhone. The network refused to recognize the change in IMEI and device information. It took a call to ATT to fix it and make sure the plan was changed from 'iPhone' data to 'Blackberry' data.
Actually I see people get data plans added everyday automatically and I have to deal with them... although I haven't seen a tethered one yet.

@Max. Im a tech and i handle that all day. We use 2 main systems. One will show the imei and the other is just basic t/s but it also shows what phone they are using no matter if the ime says in it. Look for all 1s on the imei and then look at the first system you pull up. It will show the model. Or take your sim and put it in a diff phone and i bet u anything that phone will show up!

Yup Busted!!
Yup I was busted and it wasnt for tethering. ATT said I was tethering in Sept. I informed them that i was simply streaming music and that I used pandora rather then the radio in order to listen to music. And that it was not being used to provide internet access for my laptop. that while yes it was connected to my computer while streaming it was to keep the phone charging...nothing i could do to keep my unlimited data, was transferred to a 4GB tethering plan, when pressed as to why. they reffered me to paragraph 6,1-6.2. which basically states that if you are adversly affect their network (i.e larger amounts of data) or tether in any way (connect to ANY other device in ANY fashion to transfer data) they reserve the right to change plan as they see fit.
I Was averaging 6-8GB of data per month and would guess that at max actual tethering accounted for 1GB or less. Seems as if they are mainly targeting high data users and waiting for any excuse to change your plan
.
Furthermore, plans (unless specifically designated for tethering usage) cannot be used for any applications that tether the device (through use of, including without limitation, connection kits, other phone/smartphone to computer accessories, BLUETOOTH® or any other wireless technology) to Personal Computers (including without limitation, laptops), or other equipment for any purpose. Accordingly, AT&T reserves the right to (i) deny, disconnect, modify and/or terminate Service, without notice, to anyone it believes is using the Service in any manner prohibited or whose usage adversely impacts its wireless network or service levels or hinders access to its wireless network, including without limitation, after a significant period of inactivity or after sessions of excessive usage
Yea right i bet att told u to post that here as a scare tactic. Show prof this happen to you then i will believe that happen
. This did happen to iPhone users not androids. If this happen to android users it would have been in the media by now

Nope and dont work for ATT and the quotes I posted are where i was told to go by a manager from att when i called protesting the change..check out paragraphs 6.1 and 6.2 of the customer agreement that you signed/agreed to. DUH!!! its happening all over the place. I know of at least 2 other people who have gotten busted (HTC and sony erickson android devices). And NO I wasnt using app the few times i did tether it. I used the native samsung funtionality. and do yourself a favor and google it.I lost my $35 per month unlimited plan in favor of a 5GB $45 per month.
Im going to try calling and talking them out of it one more time....beware the 9am text messages from ATT
