O2 XDA Ignito battery cover - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Accessories

Hi,
I have cracked the camera lens on the battery cover of my ignito and was wondering where I can get a replacement.
I have spoken to O2 but they want to send it off for repairs which in itself is costly when its just a piece of plastic...
I have ordered one off ebay but it arrived without the camera lens included and am reluctant to order another.
If anyone has any ideas how to simply replace that small plastic piece or where to obtain a new cover that isnt via ebay then it would be appreciated.
Thanks

I was going to suggest Expansys, but they only seem to have the extended battery cover. And they are expensive, compared to what you can get somewhere else. Which cover did you buy from ebay? I remember there used to be one which had 'Movistar' written on it, it looked like an original cover. I thought that would have the lens cover on it as well. At the moment I am using an extended battery cover without a plastic protection for the lens and am quite happy, there's no way you can touch the lens with your fingers. Also, I've just seen a Touch HD and the cover doesn't have a plastic lens protection either.

I'm using an extended battery and cover that doesnt have
the plastic lens on it and the camera works just fine

HTC desire camera lens protector

So I managed to scratch my camera lens (well the plastic bit in the battery cover) now every single pic I take is out of focus.
Firstly any options other than replacing the back cover?
Secondly anything similar to a screen protector for the camera to prevent it happening again?

I don't think people sell a `back of desire lens cover repairing gel` if that's what you mean. You could google for it I guess.

Can you try using one of those cd/dvd scratch remover pastes if you have one? Think I paid about £2.99 for a tube of it a couple of years ago but you hardly need to use any of it so still got some.

polish it out. You can use Displex or other mobile-phone acrylic polish, or just use T-Cut or similar automotive polish. Did mine last night, hadn't noticed how scratched it had got until I took some before and after pics.
just buy a new battery cover there only lyk £17 direct from htc
You could just get a screen protector and cut it to fit the camera.
Seen a screen protector on play.com in the past which had what looked like a small lense protector with it.

Which one did you use, Displex? Because my camera lens has also a lot of little scratches.
I have a case-mate torque case for my desire, which has good camera lens protection. The moulding of the case around the lens prevents any contact between the lens and any flat surface. Could still be vulnerable if you keep anything sharp in the same pocket as your phone though.
Sounds like you will need to replace the back. Scratch removing chemicals may buff out the scratch, but could also cloud your lens over. Worth a try perhaps tho.

I think you are right and that I have to buy a new battery cover. But for € 5,00 I'll try that diplex first.
I use a simple android pouch at the moment, so no new scratches can damage the lens anymore.
Displex will do it, but so will any mild abrasive. T-cut, even. I used some industrial plastic polish.

could you not just get some screen protector and cut it to shape?
Mine was scratched to.
i had a dummy Desire in the store i work and changed my glass round thingy with the plastic thingy from the dummy..
works like a charm
I also had a scratch on the cover and took the hole lens-cover off and removed the tape. My pictures are much sharper with less flare
The camera lens is that much behind the battery-cover i dont worry about breaking it and it doesnt look bad bad either.
Martin Fields screen protector comes with a lens protector as well.
I'm wonder if I can take the camera lens (at the back cover) off and set it back after I've cleaned it, without any damage.

Hi, did you managed to removed the scratched lens cover? Last week my lens cover was scratch
Since my boss has been through this already I would highly recommend biting the bullet paying another £10 (on top of what you would have paid for displex) and getting the back cover, I have had displex in the past for only very light scratches and it didn't do jack all. Plus most of the time you can never get them back to how they was, It's a £400 phone treat it with respect!
Plus as above martin fields screen protector comes with camera lens cover and to be honest is by far the best screen protector on the market for two reasons:
1. It goes on like a dream, you don't have to sit there for ages getting silly bubbles out like Zagg invisible shield or normal cheapy screen protectors &
2. Its the smoothest I have used to swipe, you want a polished glass surface, not a resistant rubber protector!

How is the Martin Fields screen protector with smudging? I'm currently using a cheap £1 screen protector which looks and feels fine (a bit harder but just as usable) but smudges really easily - you can always clean it with a cloth but it's a bit annoying.
Thanks for all the replies. I went for the displex option (had some lying around anyway) worked a treat polished the scuffs straight out. Now to avoid allowing my keys and phone to meet again!

How to best protect Camera lens?

Hi guys, i was wondering how to best protect the Camera of the DHD? Since its "looking out" of the device...
I planned to just put it in the pockets of my Jeans without any protection, but i figured that the camera lens might be damaged eventually?
So what can i do to protect the lens from beeing damaged??
i found the best way to stop it getting scratch was to get a pair of pliers and pull the lens from the housing. I dont worry about the lens getting scratched any more when i put the phone in my pocket becuase the lens is in my drawer at home
it had a detrimental effect on image quality, but it was worth it

You may as well buy a safekeep , store the phone in it , lock the damn box and never care again.
That would beat your method hands down
Hehe yeah well, i used all my phones without any protection, but im kind of worried that it will brakeaway somehow...
With the HD2 i had at least the leather thingy that came with it.
The HD2 leather bag should fit your DHD too (tried it with my dad's)
I use the HD2's leather pouch to carry around the DHD. fits perfectly.
maybe get a screen protector and cut a piece to fit the lens ??
get an otterbox defender it has a protective plastic on the lens cutout
The defender is a great case but way to heavy and bulky for a normal person. A piece of a screenprotector should offer enough protection.
Or otterbox commuter+ piece of a screenprotector

Some screen protectors come with an extra piece for the camera lens.
The Martin Fields Overlay Plus for example.
tbh, all the same I am not sure if the piece of plastic/glass which covers the lens will ever get noticeably damaged.
Previous experience with an Xperia X1 (built by HTC, for what it's worth), without protecting the "lens", I had no problems whatsoever with damage there.

I think something like that could affect the photos.. would'nt even try it
I purchased the Martin Fields protector and it came with a front cover as well as a camera cover. It doesn't seem to have any detrimental effect to the image quality and I feel more comfortable with it on. Only downside is that it's a pretty expensive screen protector D=

BodyGuardz [BEFORE I PULL THE TRIGGER]

What do people know about this product? Worth the cheez? Waste of time?
I'd like to put something on my phone until Otterbox arrives.
http://www.htcdepot.com/bodyguardz-protective-skin/4A133A8788.htm
I got one on the backside of my phone.
Definitely has prevented scratching of the plastic piece that covers the battery compartment.
Doesn't cover the silver piece that comes down from the camera in the center.
Best thing we got until a proper case comes out.
I didn't like the front one, though, and used a different, thicker screen protector on the actual screen ( so yea, I bought two sets of screen protectors for one phone...)
I went ahead and purchased a Body Glove from the T-mobile store. They sent me a $25.00 gift card that I used towards the purchase price and I ended up paying about $6.00. It's a 2-piece deal that seems to work pretty well so far. the back cover is a rubberized panel that covers the entire rear half of the phone with a slot that leaves the camera lens exposed. it's thick enough to protect it from scratches assuming you don't keep your keys in the same pocket. The front is just a plastic frame that keeps the screen from touching any flat surface you might lay it on. The whole thing adds just a little weight to the phone and just enough thickness to make it comfortable in your hands too.
I was pretty pleased with the bodyguardz "full" protection I had on my G2. the screen protector itself was pretty awful, but the rest of the cover for the phone was good. (full in quotes because it left a few exposed corners)
I took it off when I sold the G2 and the phone looked brand spankin' new.. so I guess it did its job!
would buy again, although I think I will be okay with just a pouch with this phone.. not too worried about the plastic getting too beat up.
I had some on my Touch pro that I used for several years. The smaller pieces eventually peeled off and or changed color. But it did save my phone from several scratches over the years.
How is the back on that bodyglove case? The one I saw in the online store has a clip on the back. Does that protrude much? The case I bought doesnt offer a whole lot of extra room, and I'm not sure if my phone would fit with this thing on it.
I forgot about the clip-SORRY!!!! There's an option to attach the clip to it but you don't have to. it fits just fine in the pocket
note about the bodyglove- Since I recieved my new Anker battery (awesome so far) I've been having to remove and replace the back cover and I've noticed the grips on the corners have been scratching the phone just underneath the bezel. Not cool man...

Camera Lens Cover?

Quick question, I got my phone today but what are you guys doing about the camera lens? It comes out so far that many of the cases don't seem to protect it.
Does it need protecting or no?
The HTC Case (striped one) I felt was more of a stylish accessory as opposed to serving any function in protecting the phone. The camera still juts out of the back.
The lens seems to be recessed slightly, I don't think I would worry about it too much.
I'm sure you could find a way to stick a very thin amount of plastic on the metal ring just around the lens to help. Not sure how that would be done though
The Martin Fields screen protectors come with a lens protector.
i have the martin fields and it is fine. do not buy the nillkin, which also claims to include a lens protector. there is a selection of lens protectors with the nillkin, but the screen protector itself does not fit well. it's cut too small.
I plan on ordering a Martin Field's protector set next week. From what I've read, they're quite good.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Many of the cases don't protect? Most of the ones I saw did, most thin TPU cases cover it just fine, mine creates a substantial lip.

back cover replacement

I have "succeded" to break the glass around the back camera of my Razr i. Now I'm looking for a replacement. Does anybody knows where I can find an original replacement for the back cover of the Razr i?
I have purchased one from Aliexpress, but its quality is worst than expected: the exterior bezel around the kevlar plate it's made completely out of plastic, instead of metal and there's no shinny glass around the camera.
So guys, avoid buying back cover replacements from Aliexpres.
