With the XPERIA and the app. "gtrab_SEX1icons" was very easy to have a nice topbar, the new hourglass and a changed boot-screen without the green.
It's not the same for the Diamond2!
Anyway I've installed the "Misfortune2.0.cab" for the topbar and "Classic Black htc boot.cab" to boot .... but I am not satisfied (in addition to still have the classic hourglass)!
I'm looking for a new and nice topbar with htc logo and icons in format.cab!
A big thank who help me!
I would like this but I cannot find:
I found it myself: is Brian taskbar!
Hi,
Could you post links for the brian tasks bar files you used ?
I installed on my D2 and I only have the volume icon displayed, others are not displayed.
Thx
Stdu
Hi.
Can you please post a link and maybe a screen shot of the "Brian Taskbar"?
The only thing I care about is to turn the "battery left" indicator into percentage.
Can it do that?
Thanks/m0n5
You probably should get used to using built-in forum search engines. I found it in seconds, it works and I won't post the link.

I just don't like people spamming every thread with searches for other files that they'd have found within SECONDS if they only weren't too lazy to use the search engine.
PS: I am amazed of your knowledge of human nature that made it possible for you to tell where I come from. Or was it the big country flag above my posting clearly telling that I am from germany?

also had that problem. make sure to uninstall former icon sets if there were any, then first install sdkcerts.cab and apply the the newest version of brians taskbar you can find in this thread (he posted newer ones in later replies, the version hanging in the first post is NOT the newest. then install the both fixes that are available in the first thread, and make sure you got the registry changes done :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
"BatteryIconLevels"=dword:65 (Hex) or 101 (Dec)
"BatteryIconIdStart"=dword:3e9 (Hex) or 1001 (Dec)

- Some folks are so at home in their forums and know there way around...
- This behavior you see in all different type of forums!
- The forum cops / the helping people / and the ones pointing out the search function...
- In general everybody is at some point a so called "newbie in a forum"
- The beauty is you can share knowledge easy and just help a new user with a link "thats the beauty of a hyperlink"
So you can say (or better type lol) for example welcome and see here via this hyperlink and the search function is helpful to or just don't reply.
See it's actually real simple
Does this mean someone is lazy to use the search function?
Maybe not because new to a device so many hits on a search which one to choose so maybe a new user is a bit overwhelmed and looks for a little help.
In my case as an IT guy I know my way around here and elsewhere lol but not everybody...
My two cents...

Try Wisbar
I personally use Wisbar Advance 3.4 from Lakeridge Software. It's works perfectly on the D2. I decided to make my own Icons soon and arrange them in a different order. I don't even have a start icon anymore, I just use the hard button for that. Plus it comes with a battery bar on the top that shows realtime battery life.

Ok guys, so WM6 on Tornado exists (currently running on my device as we speak). But there are quite a few things we need to sort out before it can be released 'En Masse' Before this time I will ignore ALL PMs asking for the ROM.
There is a WM6 comments/suggestion/speculation thread HERE. Feel free to put in requests for embedded apps etc, but please realise we won't be able to put in EVERYTHING. So when the ROM is at a more completed stage we will draw up a shortlist for the apps etc to be embedded and let you vote it out
Current Issues:
Still has identifying build numbers etc to my source
Doesn't sync at all with a PC but will sync over exchange
It says WM5 with MSFP when its really WM6 (OS 5.2.xxx)
No Camera
No MMS
Issues fixed:
Wifi not accessable - new comm manager
No Office (fixed with a cab)
No t9 - updated to xT9 with 14 languages (fixed with a cab)
WLM is still beta and so needs removing and then updating (fixed with WLM RTM cab)
Things we need from a Tornado WM5 ROM
Camera.exe with all the mui extensions
Lets keep this thread clean, ok? I don't want sh!t loads of n00bs saying "where can I download ROM?". So, before you ask, here's my answer. YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD IT UNTIL ITS FINISHED!!!!
If a mod could remove such posts i'd be forever grateful
Please only post if you have information regarding how to fix the issues I've outlined above.
Phil
So... i am Alex from ronswens forum. i promise to fix that if you give me the rom and you can contact me via ICQ .. we need at least 3 tests - first, we upgrade xip, then new os build and then fix the camera...
T9 now fixed, office added, WLM fixed
Phil
@sp3dev, unfortunatley i dont have ICQ, do you have an MSN email address?

I think this is the sort of n00b-ish comment jm012a9749's trying to avoid in this thread.
I mean, honestly, do you think he believes he's the only one to have attained a tornado version? Come on...
Look, this guy is aware of Duke's efforts, heck we all are, but the more people who get involved, the more efficiently we can get a polished product. There's no guarantee that Duke nor jm012a9749 will be able to do anything, so why should any of us sit back and not get involved? Besides, Duke himself has mentioned that he needs help since he's not an experienced Rom cooker.
Sorry for the rant here, but this sort of attitude really bothers me. Saying "oh, someone's already doing that, sit back and don't waste your time" is why certain projects never see the light of day...

you can fix activesync by replacing the usbfn.dll file.

Exactly, since day 1 I've been working with duke_stix to help get a working version of crossbow. However now that I've made some progress and actually HAVE a device myself to test on, I felt it was nessary to start a new thread dedicated to it rather than the old dump rom thread

My friend, you miss the whole concept of this thread. If I cooked my own ROM that would only help ME. If I released it to the public there would be many people who wanted to change this or change that. When an update came out I couldn't remove my old version, but would need to recook the whole ROM again with the updates. Granted, for those people who prefer to use a cooked ROM because it "saves them time" when reflashing, then by all means please continue to use a fully cooked ROM. However, I don't see the need to reflash my ROM every two weeks. I would much prefer to have the ability to simply add/remove a program to update it then cook a ROM.
In addition, this thread should prove useful to aspiring cooks becuase I hope to compile the information that would be necessary to take a lite/stock ROM and add to it the bits and pieces that each individual cook might find useful to suit his/her tastes.
So please, if you don't like the concept go lurk elsewhere. This thread is meant for people who support this idea, not nay sayers. If no one supports this idea, then i may have an empty thread, but I am not about to have a debate as to the merits of my idea.
so just install what you want on your lite rom. Everything is out there including Office and the camera stuff. If you really wanted to get crazy you could put it all in your UC

I realize it is all "out there" The purpose of this thread is to help compile it in one place and assist those who prefer to do it this way instead of using a cooked ROM. There are hundreds of threads devoted to "which is the best cooked ROM" and dozens upon dozens of them devoted to "how do I get APP A to work on this cooked rom, or APP B on other cooked ROM."
I believe the people who don't want to use these cooked ROMs should have a place to gather all their info, and hope this to be the place.
And with that being said, I don't plan to respond to any additional critiques of the concept. If you don't want to be a part of the solution then have fun elsewhere.
thanks.

omg you have no idea......i just went through hell finding cab files and getting them to work on the weekend. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!
i found a cool way of getting some cab files though.......older devices with less storage or with extended roms like the blue angel, the cooks usually provide cab files with their roms.
The worst part was getting the HTC apps to work, esp the multimedia apps.......a lot of the cab files, they just provide the executable and few stuff and the graphic files, but not the codecs that it needs to work. what i did was dump the at&t 6.1 rom and grabbed a bunch of codecs, somewhat works now, i'm missing some reg entries........i'm somewhat waaaaay over my head, but its fun learning this **** as i go along.
oh and i hate the fact that all these htc apps dump their graphic files in the windows directory, takes me forever to open that directory. i did find one or two versions of apps that didnt need them in the windows directory.
I like where this is going and want to see more. I am one of those people.

I use the 1.64.08.21 radio version.
Two registry edits for touchscreen adjustments I find useful:
-Adjusting touch screen sensitivity (from GWENI)
-Adjusting the backlight level when device is locked
For both of these you will need a program to edit your device's registry, such as Mobile Reg Editor or PHM Reg Editor.
Adjusting Touch Screen Sensitivity
-open reg editor
-browse to to HKey_Local_Machine\Drivers\TouchPanel
-change key "PressureThreshold" to "5000".
5000 is recommended, but you can play with the value until you find one you prefer.
Adjust Backlight level while device is locked
-open reg editor
-browse to HKey_Current_User\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel
-change key "LockLevel" from "0" to any number between 1-10.
For this one I have mine set at 5. 10 is the brightest. Adjust to your personal preference.

Thanks for the vote of encouragement.
I would assume that you meant the lite ROM from Dutty's latest? I am a fan of the Dutty ROMs and have not yet tried out the latest "lite" version. I couldn't find out on the main page what exactly was IN the "lite" version. Can you post that info here, or a direct link?
So we have our first contender (awaiting more info) as Dutty's latest "lite" build.
Remember to all posters the idea here is to start with a good basic ROM that will allow us to customize ourselves (without being locked down to cooked in apps). Using something like Dutty's could be a good idea as his lite version should have many of his good tweaks built in. I would just like to get some more specific info as to what is in his lite ROM, as well as a few more nominations before we get the ball rolling.
Chances are what we come up with in this thread can be used with many of the ROMs out there, so we don't all have to agree on one. In fact, if we can nominate the top two or three lite/stock ROMs out there for people to experiment with that would be great.
Also, please remember to always check back on the first page for any updates.

Great, fantastic marmOlade, this is exactly the type of things I want to see in terms of good tweaks that pretty much anyone would want to have.
I know most of these are out there posted (like in the excellent GWENI thread) and most like we will have a lot of cross-linkage going on there.
I hope to get a nice database of these tweaks and maybe either work with one of the developers to either make an updated kaiser-tweak program with many more entires, or possibly I can work on developing a PC-based app that would generate a registry file based on chosen options which can then be uploaded to the device. This way you can check-box off the tweaks you like and quickly update the device... that is down the road of course..but thanks for the initial contribution!

I believe all your kaiser tweaks can be found in kaisertweak and schap's advanced configuration. If you want to edit htc home, then home customizer works wonders. Not sure why you need a thread like this when you have all these tools.

Thanks for that input thomassster. Yes I realize that many of these tweaks are included in some of the tweak programs out there (probably 80%?). Part of this here is to bring attention to them. Many of the tweaks are either already built into the cooked ROMs, or people don't necessarily know what they do just from their title. If we can compile here some better descriptions to help better understand what each tweak does, then for people who wish to customize their own devices from the ground up have a good compendium to look through.
Also, registry tweaks isn't all this thread is about. It is about how to add various applications that may have tricky ways of doing things into a compendium where people can find it easily.
For instance, it isn't always easy to get MS Voice command fully working, or Skype, or some GPS softwares. Currently if you want to use some of these programs you have two options:
1) Use a ROM that has these cooked in already.
2) Look through the forum until you find the solution.
Option #2 of course can be very time consuming as information is outdated and dispersed throughout the forums (some of it isn't even in the Kaiser forums). What I am hoping to do is bring this all together to assist all with some of the trickier apps (MSVC, cubes, etc...).
If you feel this is unnecessary, then please feel free not to visit, but I hope you will continue to provide beneficial input. I'll be sure to post your suggestions on the front (if you have more info to give, links and such are appreciated so I don't need to search myself!).
thanks.
I like the idea as all tweaks and tips are spread over thousands of threads.
I worked on collecting my owns long time ago and I think putting them in a new thread is not a big deal unless bengalih do the documentation of all posted tweaks and post them in one document and/or CAB in first post.
Or simply add them to wiki

Thanks for the vote of support. I am as much interested in getting some good descriptions, and many categorizing the tweaks. As many have pointed out most of the tweaks are out there and already included in some of the tweak programs. I would like to add to that by giving attention to exactly what the tweaks do, how they help us, and which ones are highly recommended.
For instance, you might use Dutty's ROM and like all the tweaks in there, while not even realizing what he has done. If you moved to a "lite" ROM you might miss those things, but not really know which tweak it is you need to perform... I hope to gather a good list of that type of info here.
Great!
I totally agree with what you say in your first post. Currently using latest Duttys ROM, but still feel i need something more custom made (by me) in other words i'd like to have a bigger input in what I use.

Most cooked ROMs are bugged
What about starting with an official shipped ROM?, remove just stupid things like welcome center, customer feedback... everything else is needed.
Most cooked ROMS I've tried have things broken, I mean things that work on official stock ROM and not here.
Like Windows live, 3G call, QuickGPS, HTC album.. I usally do not spend more than a few hours with a cooked ROM before I find too many bugs and too many things that should be working and are not.
I can flash the ROM that came with my TyTN II and add a few cabs, and all work. Camera works, 3G video call works, GPS works, Tomtom works, Skype works... It's WM6.0, but things WORK. No missing icons, no missing buttons, no stupid buttons for hardware that it's not on the phone...
And, expecting those "go cook your own ROM" flames... this is looking a lot like the linux fanboys, I'm not a programmer or OS developer, I see someone announcing an OS and test it, and give my findings. No good if basic things do not work correctly and you have to search for registry tweaks to make something that you had before appear again, or work as in a stock ROM.

is there a landscape qwerty input type available that has larger keys?
Resco's Keyboard is Full Screen when in portrait mode. All keyboard vary in functionality. I personally like EzInput because of its simplicity. Other keyboards seem to throw too many options and stuff in there to please everyone.
Simplicity is the reason why the iPhones SIP keyboard is considered awesome (plus the compacitive screen)
I'm very new to the world of Windows Mobile, (i used to work with android/iPhone OS)
It's probably a stupid question, but how do i install EzInput?
Thanks in advance!
read 2nd answer
My diamond2 is 6.1, so it doesn't have EzInput.
Do you have a link/tutorial to flash it to 6.5?
Stupid questions don't exist mate Everyone has to start from the beginning. A good beginning is the search option and the wiki, that's how i learned a lot.
Now to get back to your question, look here for a lot of info on ezinput as well as other keyboards:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534678&highlight=ezinput
Thanks for the help.
I searched already on this forum / on the internet, but I didn't find any clear posts.
I'll try those links
I think I installed EzInput now, but I don't see any change of the keyboard...
Do I have to change a setting or something else?
(Do you have a link where I can see/read how to flash 6.5 on my diamond?)
I guess yours came default with that.
Well ofcourse i've got a link for you but first...
A quick guide:
Select your phone here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
Read everything you can find about flashing cooked rom's, radio's and hardspl
The choice of your radio is very personal, it's different for each country but very important 'cause it basically give you good signal
The choice of the cooked rom is very personal. Some put speed over graphics whilst others like it the other way around
It's very important and the first step of flashing to start with HardSPL'ing your device. If you don't start with that you won't be able to do anything with 6.5
After that you can choose your rom and read all the info that the cook (a rom builder) has provided for the users, there are quite some differences and things to know and learn about roms in these posts. To install a rom you need CustomRUU (installer) and some even support flashing from your microsd card.
The last part is to always hard-reset your device after you've completed 1 of the 3 basic steps. Be aware that you'll loose all the data on your phone, it's basically to turn i to the first point after you've installed the rom. So don't start installing things right away...first try a few roms 'cause you might like another one better.
Last but not least, the radio, well my friend you'll just have to read about it 'cause it depends on your region etc. That one can be flashed after you've done the first 2 steps and it basically goes the same way as flashing a rom. But first things first...start your search for hardspl!
I've taken all these steps for example from the topaz. Some devices might have other routines,...i focus on my device only, 'cause otherwise it's just too much info.. and all the info that's on this forum might be confusing at first (let's face it, there's a lot of info.) But nevertheless, my experience is that people are willing to help others here. There's a solution for everything here, if you know how and where to look.
Start reading and have fun...

hey folks. i'm new to this rom cooking thing. i'm using the Kaiser Kitchen. I've loaded a base rom into the folder and run the Begin command prompt. now i'm stuck. i have no idea what OEM/SYS items i can get rid of and what i need to keep. i'm just trying to build an extremely lite rom that has manila 2d with the weather under the clock on the home screen. but i don't want to go and delete something that i need, so i'm not comfortable doing any editing just yet. can anyone give me a breakdown of what this stuff is? or even point me in the right direction if it's already posted (which it probably is, i'm just not sure what to search for)? i'd greatly appreciate it. i'm enjoying this rom cooking quite a bit, but, like i said, i'm pretty new to this. i've never taken any classes or anything, so i don't understand some of the terms/procedures used on this site, so please use layman's terms if you reply to me. again, i appreciate your taking the time to help me out, even if it's just a finger pointing me in the right direction.
Hope it doesn't take you too long to read.
first off what's your base ROM (the ROM that you downloaded and put inside the BaseROM folder) and then I could tell you what to get rid of. By the kaiser kitchen you mean the one from the wiki correct?
I'm going to need more info on how you are putting the weather on the home screen (e.g. CAB, Package. etc.) and your BaseROM to tell you accurately what to do.
as for adding in that weather package, first make sure the manila version you are using is 2.x or more. I would say don't make a package out of the CAB (if that's what you are using to put the weather display on the home page). Instead go into the OEM folder and look for the OperatorPKG folder. Enter the OperatorPKG folder and look for a file named "config_operator.txt" (without the quotes).
Mine looks like this:
LOCK:Enabled
TSK: \WINDOWS\Htc.tsk
CAB: \WINDOWS\AMfix.cab
XML: \WINDOWS\Menu_Operation.xml
CAB: \WINDOWS\fixyoutube.cab
CFG: \WINDOWS\config_PT.txt
I'm positive yours will look different. Pay attention to the "CAB: \WINDOWS\"insert CAB file name here"
What you are going to do is take that weather CAB for manila and put it in the OperatorPKG folder. Now go in the "config_operator.txt" and add this string:
CAB: \WINDOWS\"name of the cab file you just put in the OperatorPKG folder, INCLUDING the .cab extension (ex: M2Dhomeweather.cab)"
After cooking and flashing the ROM and setting up your device it will auto install that CAB and you should be set to go.
Now once you tell me the baseROM you are using I can tell you what is mostly junk in the OEM folders you have.
Also in case you are curious.
In the "config_operator.txt"
A "TSK" represents a theme and will make the device load a certain theme.
A "CAB" (obviously) represents a CAB file and will auto-install the CAB file.
A "CFG" represents the next config.txt file and tells the device to look at that config file next.. There are 4 total in all used for different purposes but they all do the same thing more or less. In the "config_operator.txt" ALWAYS make sure the
CFG: \WINDOWS\config_PT.txt
string goes last. It will skip anything else after itself if you do not have it as the last string.
P.S. - Always get an opinion from more than one person
Using the above process you will be using 2x the amount of space .cab & install
Also when things are cooked in they are faster accessible than via .cab install.
Regards removal of OEM/SYS a very good guide

BTW, you are better off using visual kitchen.in that way you tick what u need and untick what you don't. If you find out that you needed it you simply tick it again...LOL!
kaiser:
well, first off, i'm using the HyperDragon IV as my base ROM. it's the only one i can find that actually has the weather on the home screen. i love the ROM, don't get me wrong, but it just has a lot of extra stuff in it that i don't need, and i'd like to have that storage space. this ROM actually has the home weather already built in. updates automatically according to the GPS (i'm assuming since it always displays the weather for the city i'm currently in). very handy for taking a quick look rather than having to press any buttons (i'm one of those "no phone while driving" people). however, when i add the Blue Galaxy theme to it, it changes the clock and takes away the home screen weather. i'm very new to this rom cooking business, ie: all i know is what i've either taught myself or looked up on XDA, so i have no idea how to make packages from cabs or anything like that. but reading above about where to put the cabs to auto install with the new rom doesn't seem too difficult. i can visualize it in my head (i spent QUITE A WHILE looking at those files yesterday! haha!). the HyperDragon IV rom is about 110 MB, and it moves a bit slow, but that is my ONLY complaint about it. i'd like to get to the point of being able to build a rom from scratch, but i think breaking one down and rebuilding it to my liking is a better starting point. i'm checking into taking some classes on it. i really enjoy working on my phone and i think if i had some formal training on it, it could be something that i LOVE to do. i just have no grasp of the technical jargin used, so sometimes i'll find a post pertaining to the topic i'm looking for, but i get lost in trying to understand some of them, you know? same thing with cars: i can work on them all day, but i have no idea what most of the parts are even called, much less what they do. i actually have 2 Tilts (my wife thought it was too complicated and got a different one), so i use one to practice on and check out new roms, and the other for everyday use. last night i installed the Hyperdragon IV rom on the extra and printed out the HTCHomeSettings file (with home screen weather) and printed the HTCHomeSettings file from my regular use phone (Blue Galaxy theme installed so no more home screen weather) and was getting ready to print them out and compare the differences between the two. just out of curiosity, would that have done me any good?
Off-hand question: NRH, is that North Richland Hills? if so, nice to see a fellow Texan! i live in Arlington, born and raised.
Stylez:
yeah, that's what i understand. phone operation is much quicker when software is built into the rom. thanks for the link. i was looking for something along those lines yesterday, just couldn't find it. i appreciate it. i've actually looked up A LOT of usefull info that you've posted on here, so thanks for the knowledge as well!
Staxx:
thank you, thank you, thank you sir! i actually posted a request last week for suggestions on a more beginner level user friendly kitchen, but got not a single response (last i checked). that's exactly what i was looking for: something where i can just check what i do and don't want. i was using PPCKitchen at first, but after cooking 3 roms that were just as big as HyperDragon IV (110+ MB) the program started giving me error messages. the frustrating part was that it wouldn't give me errors until it was almost done building the rom. that's quite a while to wait and quite a bit of time (by my standards) wasted to find out that the program isn't going to produce anything! so thanks for the suggestion. i'm going to go search for and download it right now.
To All:
thanks again for the help and advice. you guys are life savers! i can usually figure things out on my own. i like to think i'm smarter than the average bear. but sometimes i just need to be pointed in the right direction, or have things translated from technical jargin to layman's terms. i appreciate yall taking the time to help me and answer my questions. it's nice to see that there are still people in the world willing to help complete strangers. so thanks again guys! i'm sure i'll probably have more questions arise, so i'll probably be posting those as well. i try not to post anything that has already been answered, but sometimes i can seem to find exactly what i'm looking for, even if it is posted already. there is A LOT of info on XDA, but that's a good thing, or a GREAT thing i should say.
Kaiser:
by the way. i'm looking to cook a WM 6.1 ROM with:
blue galaxy theme, but with weather on the home screen, of course
bluetooth function
data connection auto config
manila 2d (dont need the customizer)
quick menu
quick gps
google maps
kaiser tweak
S2U2
BT enabled voice command
BTAudio Toggle (not the btaudio on/off but the toggler button that has the little headphones on the icon)
smartphone tracker
activesync
camera
opera 9.5
***prefer but don't have to have:
volume control, the one that is all black with the white volume bars running up and the vibrate and silent buttons directly underneath
there is also a contacts list that matches the above volume controls, black background with scrolling
wow! that actually looks like a lot now that i've written it out! i actually have all the cabs for the above mentioned items (except camer, activsync, volume controls and contacts list). i also have the cab for manila 2d with the weather on the home screen, but i haven't been successful in installing it WITH the home screen weather working, or even on the screen. i believe it's actually an add on. it's not the full manila 2d, just suppoesed to replace the clock with the flipping clock and add the weather under the clock (which it doesn't seem to do), so i think it may be about useless.
that's really about all i want in the rom. i'll most likely be using the HyperDragon IV rom as my base rom, since it already has the home weather. after that (and some more practice) i may try to learn how to take another lite or naked rom and add the home weather clock to it with manila. that's my goal anyway, to learn how to add it to a rom that doesn't already have it or manila. well, i'm off to download and check out that other kitchen. thanks again for the willingness to help me!
You should probably ask the chef of this ROM for help I'm sure they would be more than happy to help you. They would know about everything in the ROM and would be able to help you the most. If not then I'll download Hyperdragon and look at it in the kitchen.
@off-hand question - yup.
kaiser:
well, i think i'm going to download a stock WM 6.1 rom to practice on first. i'll see if i can't get in contact with the chef in the mean time. i got it off of the Sakajati website. not sure if that's going to make any difference in contacting the chef, but i'll see how it pans out. thanks again for your help.
