Is there any major issues plauging the 750v?
I know about the Slider - vibrate/ring problem.
Any others?
I had none with mine.
It's about a week old....
Battery life is poor on UMTS mode - I would advise to turn to GSM mode.

Battery life is poor in every phone that is using UTMS
i'm really impressed with the 750V - it's one of the most stable pda's i've used (apart from the 2gb memory card problem!).

I have a dual SIM adaptor and they don't work with USIM cards, not sure about working with the Treo in general.

I second psxp's question. What was the problem with your miniSD card?
Apparently, I am having a very typical problem where the O/S "looses" the card as soon as it comes out of standby mode. Was this your problem? If so, what fixed it? Re-formatting your card? I have tried that twice already, from 2 different phones, one of them being my 750. Guess I will have to try from my laptop using my card reader too.

BT audio gateway for HEADSET, not headphones
Hey,
Ever since I tweaked the the tytn to keep the BT audio gateway open, (so to listen to mp3's thru a headset), I've wanted to do it on the treo's but have had no success. I know I can get a BT headphone that support the a2dp profile, but I kinda like the smallness of a headset & don't care about audio quality...any tweaks or help is appreciated...
I've got the second Treo 750v after I sold the first one 2 months ago and was hoping that maybe the following bug will be fixed or that my 1st unit only had this failure, but with the current 2nd unit, I have the same problem:
When I start dialing a contact or a entered number -the phone application starts to dial- and if the phone volume is set to the middle level or even higher, the dialing tone is extremely loud. It is impossible to hold the Treo closed to the ear, so I must to decrease the volume.
This appears everytime when the Treo was set to higher volume even during the last call and I'm wondering whether there is any registry-hack how to decrease the overall dialing tone??
here's my list... so far
OK, here goes. I previously had a Treo 650 (Palm OS, so you have to take these criticisms in the context of that. Palm OS is brill, wish I had stayed put)
- Random lightups (phone lights up for no reason - really off-putting in the car, prob something to do with it losing then re-finding vodafone signal)
- No sound - even when al settings are correct (solution: soft reset)
- Making notes While in call - you try it, it takes about 20 taps just to get to any app in which to write (the old 650 took one button press)
- Too many button presses for simple common tasks generally
- Strange behavior when shiftlock or nulockm is inadvertently on (i.e when pressing the app buttons it does strange things, but there is no visual indication that you have shiftlock on)
- Too many button presses to sync. Old palm 650: 1 press on a shortcut key. palm 750: start, activesync, menu, connect, sync (at least 5 presses, then keeps the bluetooth connection up and kills your battery)
- Doesn't auto end calls, when the other party hangs up
- doesn't sort notes by category - if you use categories in outlook notes the treo ignores them and you just get a massive list
- No visual indication of mute, so in the dark you have to fiddle with the hardware switch (which incidentally is way more fiddly than on the 650)
- Sync doesn't sync an item if it is still open (and its not obvious if you exit an app with the item still open)
- You can't see all an appointment description in the small space gives, it doesn't do a line break
- Items randomly not synced
- commands for common edit functions are different in different screens (i.e you cant just do menu x to cut, or menu c to copy cos it does something completely different
- many button clicks just to go speakerphone - what happened to the simple onscreen buttons for speaker, mute, hold, etc???
- Click on appt in today view doesn't take u to the appt but to the current day - so if you are looking at an entry in today for an appt tomorrow and you click it, the treo takes you to the calendar but on today
- When treo turns off while in an app, say while I am reading a note, when I turn it back on it goes to today screen, not back to the note i was in, so then I have to do about 50million clicks to get back to my note (which incidentally I have no way to organize by category so I have a huge list of 134 items to scroll through to find the right one. No way to view notes by categories (when u use outlook categories for notes)
- Unnecessary taps to edit a task note - when a task is displayed and i tap the notes it should go staight to the edit screen, but no, it ignores me, then I have to hit edit, then I have to select the 'notes' tab, then scroll to the right place in the text... TOO MANY CLICKS
- Cant use the 5way nav to move from appointment to appointment, it just scrolls the whole screen (when viewing a day view). You need to take out and use stylus or use your finger
- When in a no signal area and you accidentally try to mke a call (cos you hit the green button twice because the response time is so bad you thought it didn't hear you the first time), it says call in progress endlessly on the screen when no call in progress. Solution: turn off phone and turn back on again.
- No way to assign apps to the quickdial buttons like you can on palm - which makes the problem of millions of taps to open simple common apps even worse
- repeat speed is too fast for the basic programmes to handle so the buffer fills up and it keeps repeating after you release a key (I know I can turn the speed down, but its only set at midway, it should be able to keep up, should not allow me to set it faster than it can handle, or should at least clear the buffer when I release the key so it doesn’t keep scrolling)
- search my 1500 contacts hangs, slows entire machine, 'stop' key doesnt work and i cant browse my contacts. Requires reset
- no option to auto lock at a certain time. The only options I have are after 12 hours or 2 hours, but 12 hours is too long and 2 hours is too short. In the REAL treo (palm OS) you can set a pre-determined time, so you set it for sday 1am, and you know its going to lock. If I set it for 2 hours it sometimes locks during the day and sends all my calls to voicemail. If I set it for 12 hours that’s not much security, cos anyone who finds it if I lose it will probably never get locked out. Crap.
...thats it so far...
My verdict.... will I keep the 750 or go back to the (palm OS) 650.....?
I will keep the 750. for all its problems it MUCH more sexy, and I am ashamed to say that actually counts for something. Now, if they could just get te apps working more like the Palm apps it'd be sorted. D

i wonder if there is a way to install this on a hermes,i know am well aware of the fact that it can brick the unit but what the heck is it possible?
did anyone notice this makes reference to an 8915 model?!? its been reported that att was going to have the 8900 (no camera) and 8925 (with front and back cam) .... but i wonder if they are stupid enough to market a 3rd model with only the back cam (well thats my guess anyway, would fit in their naming scheme)

I'm sure you'll find elements of this rom appearing in a suitable ROM once the chefs have had a chance to work with it.

according to this article ... Kaiser do comes with 3 different model specs
http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9750809-1.html
Yes - 3 models
HTC Kaiser 100 - no camera
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=807
HTC Kaiser 110 - 2.8M camera on rear
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=808
HTC Kaiser 120 - both 2.8M camera on rear and 300K video calling camera on front
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=733
looks and feels pretty much the same as the previous version. Some quick notes:
- Plain AT&T splash screen (removed the words "test only, not for sale") suggests we're getting close to the final version. The animated 3G splash has audio this time...
- looks like same software package as previous version (e.g. Ms PacMan trial, OZ IM etc. cingular pre_midlets is still there too (had assumed the pre_ meant pre-release).
- Device Name default (in About control panel) reports 8900 this time (could have sworn it was 8925 last time). Model no (in Device info control panel) is just "Hermes".
- The annoying backlight problem (where it goes dim every 10 seconds and reverts settings in the backlight control panel) seems to be gone!
More notes later, after some usage.
Nice...!
Thanks for Share...!
After 1 day of usage, some interesting issues:
* created program shortcuts from TaskMgr, and the program links (in Start Menu) lose their icons after soft reset. Also the Messenger program link has no icon, and the link itself is broken (application cannot be found)
* sound through headphones does not work! This is a major problem. Sound plays fine through speakers, but as soon as headphones are plugged in nothing from the headset. Of course this worked in the last version.
I am suspecting a bad interaction with the few apps I installed (HTC Home plugin and HTC Audio Manager from HTC ROM) so I'm rerunning the imaging process. If not, will step back to the previous release as no sound thru headphones is a no-op (would be a very boring flight home for me without music).
No Audio Thru Headphones
reinstalled the ROM and verified that sound does not come thru any headset. I had to reinstall an older ROM to get headphones working. Bummer as the new ROM looked more polished. I especially liked the way that backlight dimming worked.
Hope AT&T gets it right soon, else I'll have to try the HTC RTM ROM.

Don't fly with Jet2.com as they made me switch off my Wizard when I was listening to mp3s via headphones even though it was in flight mode. The annoying thing was that she continued to allow 2 kids , 3 rows apart,to play on their Nintendo DS which I know were linked up wirelessly.
if you guys don,t mind me asking
can you please post how you got your hands on a kaiser
and if you happen to have an extra you want to sell please pm me i would be very much nterested in trying one out
It should be released in 3 weeks. If you can't wait, try eBay. There's one for sale there now.
OMG Your right!
I've been using this ROM for a week now and hadn't tried the headset. How do you jack that up? I wonder how long it will be for a release rom to fix it because I like the new rom, but goota have the headset jack
Buy the way where do you get the HTC RTM ROm? Thanks
must be nice to mess with one of these units and be a prick and not share where you got it from

Wow nice post! Im not sure why you are so upset. Your question was answered by Mlekas, we gotem on ebay, at least thats where I got mine. I think theres one on there now. Their pretty pricey though.
can someone try to rip OZ im client from this rom and put it in a cab so we can try to install a more WM6 friendly version of this software on an upgraded 8525
I've got a Kenwood BT-200 bluetooth handsfree car kit and have found the following issues with it;
1. Everytime a call is completed, the phone book downloads all over again and takes over 10 minutes, preventing making follow on calls till complete.
2. The received and dialed calls list doesn't work
3. Cannot initiate a call from the head unit unless the phone screen is on (was working perfectly on previous HTC Touch Cruise).
4. Unable to initiate voice dialing on Phone using Microsoft Voice Command whereas with previous HF kits it was as simple as pressing and holding the call button.
Anyone else use the same Touch Pro - BT200 combination? Or experience similar problems with other HF kits?
I have Pioneer BT unit. I can not connect, but I installed Hands-Free Config from JETware Mobile Software and it solved all my problems. There are many setting options which should help you...
Hi Pritman,
I just went through the same thing after upgrading to the Touch Pro from the Dopod 838Pro (Hermes).
There's a firmware update available for the KCA-BT200 which may well fix your issues (certainly did mine).
I created a post about this earlier today (didn't see your post here).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440494
The firmware flash is very easy to do. You will just need a laptop with a bluetooth adaptor.
Codenix.
Kenwood have released another update.
See my other post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440494 for details.
Codenix.
Wow, never thought I would fine anyone else with the combination of Kenwood DNX-7100, KCA-BT200 AND the touch pro. I am having similar issues.
DNX-7100 with BT100 worked fine with touch pro.
"upgraded" to BT200, and I have nothing but headaches.
I have tried two different BT200, and both have been flaky.
I have tried BT200 firmware 1.60 and 1.70, and both have been flaky.
My problem is similar to the ones you folks have been experiencing, mainly it is constantly downloading, and the interface is super sluggish when downloading. I can retrieve a name and phone number from the BT200's memory, but when I call out it will say downloading and do nothing. Sometimes it won't "pair" with the phone automatically unless I manually select my phone from the DNX-7100, and sometimes it will just drop the connection. I used the BT100 for about a year, and it was solid 95% of the time. I am running stock Telus rom, btw. I have also played around with the dip switch on the BT-200. From the shipped manual, DNX-7100 belongs in group F, which is off, off, on for dip switch 1, 2, 3. But when I searched online, some of Kenwood's info listed the DNX-7100 under group G, which has dip switch off, on, off, just to add to the confusion. I have also tried removing the "wireless stereo" profile as well as the "serial port" profile, but that fixed nothing. Lastly, just to kick me when I'm down, when it list the numbers, sometimes it list them as first name, then last name, but sometimes it list it as last name then first. This is super irritating as you can't be sure where anyone is listed ..... so far my experience with the BT200 has been nothing but horrible. I am on the verge of flashing my touch pro to a cooked ROM just to see if it is due to the stock Telus rom's bluetooth (I went back to stock as the juggalo rom I used became corrupt after a few weeks).
So, did you guys finally find a solution that worked 100% of the time?
Idea
Hi Guys, I'm glad there are more people out there with my combination.
Upgrading the BT 200 to 1.70 has improved things significantly but not as good as it would be with another handset like a Nokia N95. The download delay and sluggishness still exist.
I recall when I paired the TP, a notice came up on the TP that the BT 200 is requesting access to the phonebook or contacts and prompted me to allow or deny. I'm wondering what would happen if I deny? I do know that when I first paired the N95 with the older firmware, it wouldn't syncronise the contacts and I had to manually send the contacts to the BT 200. If this can be done with the TP, it may eliminate the constant downloading, perhaps.
Anyone else willing to try this. I may not be able to do this till later this weekend so if any of you do manage to test this before me, please post the results.
Good luck!
If you don't give it access to the phonebook, I suspect it can't download your phonebook automatically, and you would have to manually push the phonebook over, which defeats the purpose of the BT-200, effectively making it a BT-100. After trying a 2nd BT-200 for 3 days, I have given up and chalked up the BT-200 as extremely flaky, and is easily the worst purchase I have ever made as:
1) Half the time it won't pair with the phone automatically
2) The other half when it does pair, you can't dial out as half time time again when you want to make it call, it decides to do a download from your phone instead (never mind that it already "downloaded" when it paired already. Half x half = quarter.
3) Half the time when it does manage to make it call, it magically drops the bluetooth pairing and drops the call.
If you're keeping track, we are at half x half x half, which is 0.125, or this damn thing only works 12.5% of the time. This is not a time saver, nor a gadget of convenience/safety. It is the ultimate source of anxiety, danger (as you're trying to get the damn thing to work), and a big disappointment. Kenwood, shame on you for putting out such flaky products, and especially for not fixing it (look at the first post, it is from Oct 08).
I am going to return both of my BT-200 to Clutchfield, and am going back to my 99% stable BT-100. BT-100 actually is not as horrible with the TP as TP runs WinMo 6.1, which lets you push multiple phone book contacts at once (not like the older WinMo where you had to push contacts ONE BY ONE!!!). The only caveat with the BT-100 is if you need to delete or modify any contacts, you can't, and you have to delete all the entries for a particular phone and repair and push all contacts again, which takes 1 minute now as oppose to half an hour with pre-WinMo 6.1. When I buy a HU next time, I don't think I will consider Kenwood again due to:
1) Flaky software/interface.
2) Poor documentation.
3) Poor service support. Kenwood Canada actually NEVER REPLIED. I only received the auto-gen email notification indicating they received my email. Clutchfield Canada has been very supportive, and I will pay more to buy from them in the future solely due to their strong customer support.
Hi Johnnysks,
As far as the Touch Pro is concerned, I understand your frustration and totally support your argument.
On the other hand, I have tested the BT-200 with a Nokia 96 & my previous Touch Cruise, works like a dream! I've had good responses from Kenwood UK but whenever I contact HTC, I alway get vague responses, which to me suggests that Kenwood must have been making the effort but keep getting let down by HTC. Ultimately the BT-200 works with majority of the handsets out there.
I will still keep trying for a solution though as I really do like the TP and the BT-200!
I have no doubts the BT-200 works with other phones, and I know my TP works with my BT-100 flawlessly. I also know from prior personal dealings with Kenwood Canada's technical support that:
1) They're rude, have a bad attitude, and unprofessional (as my first inquiry for a different product from a year ago was met with a reply that was condescending, unhelpful, and was not even in proper English). I'll be more than happy to dig up my old email for you if you have any doubts.
2) They're not responsive. It's been over a week, and they never replied to my current inquiry regarding the BT-200 (funny. They used to be rude and unprofessional. Now they're missing in action)
Perhaps Kenwood USA, Kenwood UK, or Kenwood Japan are doing an awesome job. However, I can only go with what I have personally experienced.
Anyone find a fix for this? I have the same problems with my DNX8120. Tried Jetware, no luck, I would try BTRestore, but it won't work with .net 3. My biggest complaint is that even if it is connected via bluetooth, it won't start a call from th eheadset unless the phone is not in standby. Next biggest issue is that it drops the connection after hanging up from a call.
Very f*&%*g annoying!
FYI, worked with 2 different ETEN's
Hi all,
Since its now out and people have them (inc myself!) I thought I'd start a new thread with initial thoughts etc
I like the feel of the unit it feels more solid than my Vario II
I synced all my contacts and texts etc but havent used it to make calls etc yet so cant comment here but the sync was as expected
The phone itself looks great -its a shame the touch-flo is so t-mobile but thats to be expected
I'll probably buy a spare battery once im sure im happy with it (I have a spare with my vario II)
so far I've only installed tomtom 7 (athough there is co-pilot data on the SD Card??)
anywho so far happy but early days!!
J
No opera only IE installed I'll look for an opera cab!!
Are there any significant issues with the latest opera beta?
I see loads of threads relating to it
Should I get the stable build (8.5?) or use the beta?
Ok folks, I've made a small discovery. If you Hard Reset the device, it gives you CoPilot 7 AND Opera back, BUT (and here's the kicker) it gives you a different (older??) version of TouchFlo 3D.
The version I have after the hard reset is 1.2.34589.1_1813.6
What do (sensible) people have out of the box?
The main difference that I can see is that it doesn't have the Favourites (in a circle arrangement) on the far left of the TouchFlo panel and I also seem to remember it looking slightly different as well. I know T-mobile test each phone before they send them out - could they have updated the software through USB but not touched the ROM? Seems like the most likely option IMO.
In respect of the device, so far I'm very impressed with the Vario's speed.
I'm comparing it to the MDA Compact IV I had for a week last year - the extra RAM definitely seems to make a noticeable difference.
Edit:
After Hard Reset:
ROM Version: 1.69.110.8 WWE
ROM Date: 08/21/08
Radio Version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol Version: 52.33.25.17U

Just ordered mine from T Mobile today - at leat the CSR knew (without prompting) it was called the Vario IV, even if they had none in stock!
Re the CoPilot - I have been a long time user of CP6 (came with my Compact II) - is it useable? And did you specify it when ordering, or do you think its inclusion (given your hard reset) is an oversight by T-Mobile?

Opera is Version 9.5, build 1522.
There is CAB file in the Windows folder to install Opera, when I first Hard reset the device and tried running it, it did not work. I think there's another file (registry?) that needs running to activate it but I quickly gave up and just reset the thing to see what would happen!
Does your TouchFlo have Favourites on the left of the Home tab?
Loving the phone at the moment. But...... texts i receive are with an internaional prefix, so the vario doesn't recognize who sent it.
Strange because there is no such problem with incoming calls ???

Oh really? Another way of doing it is Start--Settings--System--Clear Storage.
The front screen you have is the same as mine now. When I get a chance I'll call up tech support to find out if they have an update.
I did the latter option and it worked thanks
Just Resyncing and putting on texts etc and then I'll play with co-pilot!

Loving the phone at the moment. But...... texts i receive are with an internaional prefix, so the vario doesn't recognize who sent it.
Strange because there is no such problem with incoming calls ???

must some other issue as the match is on the last digits.

I have all my numbers stored in international format so my texts were being recognised but incoming calls weren't. Haven't had a chance to test properly but I think I've solved this by using Schapp's Advanced Config which allows you to change the number of digits that are matched.
As nice as the phone is, there a few things that are driving me crazy and I have a feeling I'm going to return it:
* Pressing left/right on the DPad requires you to press in exactly the right area otherwise you hit the call/home/hangup/back keys which is incredibly frustrating.
* No dedicated hardware keys to launch applications. I know you can configure double/triple clicks on the call/hangup keys but it doesn't work too well. You can't configure long presses on these keys
* Can't configure double/triple/long presses of the home or back keys
* Lack of hardware softkeys means I'm unable to use Sky Mobile (the java app) which, for some reason, doesn't work if you press the softkeys on the screen. Although I don't use this that often, it's incredibly useful to have.
I really don't like using Windows Mobile and having to rely on the touchscreen for everything as it's not really designed for finger operation alone. The hardware keys on the Wizard and Kaiser made them really easy to use but I can see I'm not going to get on with this :-( If only I hadn't smashed the screen on my Kaiser!
agree with most of your comments antlane, I will be calling tmobile to return one of my two handsets, I have to say the battery life on this phone is so poor. After a full charge took it off 6am this morning by 12 it had 30% left. It will not last a day for me.
International Format Contact Numbers Not Recognised

@antlane you're a hero. I searched this forum and Google high and low before finding this answer. I've made the adjustment now (to 9 digits seems to work for me in the UK) and life is back to normal
For the purposes of being able to find this fix easily from web searching:
Problem: International Format Contact Numbers Not Recognised (in my case HTC Touch Pro/Raphael/Vario IV)
Solution: Use Schapp's Advanced Config to adjust number of digits matched (under 'phone' section).
As far as your other comments go, I too have mixed feelings about lack of hard buttons (especially for scroll, messaging and camera). But, in balance I am very impressed with TFL3D - it's really integrated well with the OS and provides functionality on top (e.g. remembering what track you were listening to before soft reset unlike WMP). It's fast and gives you the kind of look and feel that I expect from such a capable handset. Also like: keyboard, screen and soft keyboard options. Don't like: excessive T-mobile branding on TFL3D, lack of plain Opera option in programs (only WebnWalk), lack of 3.5mm headphone jack (adapter city still).
Thanks again @antlane
Thanks for that. Switching to 9 digits in advanced config, sorts it out perfectly.
How are people finding the T mobile branding ?? Its a bit pink for me so i may have to find a way to switch it back to HTC Black and grey.

While I don't doubt this fix works for the phone, why on earth should we have to resort to a third party program to get a basic feature of EVERY phone made in the last 10 years or so??
My Vario II could identify a number if it had a +447 or 07 prefix..why can't my shiny new toy??
I've been dealing with T-Mobile customer support and then the tech support team as well over the last couple of days.
So far I've been told to remove any duplicate contacts from the phone memory (there weren't any) then copy all contacts from my SIM over to the phone memory...and erase all SIM contacts when that didn't work!
The last thing they've suggested is that my SIM (which is about 8/9 years old) is not supplying enough voltage (3 volts as opposed to 5 volts of modern SIMs) so they're sending me a new SIM card tomorrow. Apparently (and it made me laugh) this is a common Windows Mobile fault!
Has anyone heard of this "fault" or is this typical tech support BS??!?
Vario IV and Parrot BT
Something else thats frustrating me is that the Vario wont pair fully with my Rythum and Blue stereo in the car.
All other HTC devices (going back to the universal) pair in such a way that contacts and call history sync with the car stereo
The vario IV does connect but wont sync
Annoying as the Object push profile is supported by the phone
I'll probably still keep the phone just use it less in car for calls
I re-downloaded the new ROM for the FUZE. The first time, I noticed the change in the phone with the slider added but it became painfully obvious that my earpieces ( motorolas HS850 AND S9-HD ) don't pick up (hands-free) anymore. I have to slide the bar and hopeit pics up - that takes a few seconds also.
Seems like this second time has put some pieces I guess were missing but the BT ear piece stuff is still an issue.
I wish they never got rid of the app. I used to call hands free on the 8125. Can't stand Voice Command never gets my calls correct so I just keep it disabled. At least with the other app. I could go to each contact and "train" it to respond - had hiccups but at least it worked more than not.
I've used Andrea F's weatherdatabase to add cities to my accuweather app. on the touchflo 3D. So i'm wondering is there anything I can do about the above.
I'm running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
HTC say that they are getting lots of calls on this but for now nothingas far as a fix.
Any help with the BT issue or even voice command would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks T.
Moved as not ROM Development.
