I know that this has been covered in many different ways. I am curious to see what everyone likes and how they got that onto their phones.
I am on the Dudes 1.0 and I really want to see what the other widget looks like.
Can anyone help? And yes I did do a search but so many responses and all other the boards. So, I thought this might be easier especially now that everyone is on a solid build
I changed the background from white to grey and the date to match the theme. Just wish I knew how to change the text in the xml files. But here is a picture of the alternate calendarprovider widget.

Does that one update yet? It used to fail to update.
you have to remove it and then restore it. But at least you no longer have to reboot.

Confirmed.
To expand, beagz is stating that the free "Retro Clock" widget in the market is not only good on its own, but also contains a good Retro Calendar widget built in.

Cool! thanks!
Although, to note, the "Retro Calendar" widget is merely a "Retro Date" widget, simply displaying the current date, nothing more.
I like that widget shown in The Dude's build, but I still prefer my JF build. If it were released to the market, that'd be superb!

Where can we get that theme you are using with that clock widget. This looks great by the way.
Thanks Thyrus. As a developer, Cyanogen is the best. As a color, it's a little too 80's for me. Second poster, the widgets are called Tajm and BattStat in the market.
How did you make it so those 2 were at the top with like a bar to themselves?

Thanks for your great wallpaper selection, it was nice collection.
Now I feel Cyanogen Wallpaper is worth be there.
Thanks for the credit dude.
LOL love how you messaged me saying you ALL of the wallpapers in my dropbox.
I'll keep updating it with more and more wallpapers that I find.
So for more wallpapers hit up my blog people!
when you do (or whoever wants to add their own):
Unless you want to play around with the xml files (R$drawable to be exact), you can change them to your liking, but the filenames need to stay the same as they are in the apk file. So all of them must be jpeg files with the same names. Simply adding your own doesn't work until you add the names and other info in the R$drawable
Hello all,
So to start yes I've used google and yes I've searched. But I can't seem to bring up the answers I'm looking for.
I'm interested in theming my own icons or at least changing some that others have to to suite my own desires. I've read up on some things for Android icons here. But I was curious as to what other people use/prefer.
As in which to use Fireworks or Photoshop?
Or what the best dimensions are for icons?
And is it best to make them into an APK for easy use?
I couldn't find a how to guide for theming icons specifically but if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Flawless
P.S. Sorry if some of these have really easy answers. Just starting out with changing things on my own.
Which Icons...
Notification icons?
or
App Icons?
or
Other?
I was typing a response and realize you could be talking about three different icons which have different sizes and are in different locations. Notifications are /system/framework and App icons are just shortcuts. Use bettercut from the market, for the latter. As for size 72x72 px for hdpi screens.

Well in the immediate future I was looking to make my own icon theme pack. Then jump into framework, which I know can be a bit more complicated.
So my original questions were in regardes to strictly application icons and a launcher pro dock.
Also I personally use desktop visualizer to customize my icons.
Thanks again for your response

So after re-reading the webpage that I found and that you linked again, it clarified it a bit. I'm now more just curious as to the programs most people prefer. I know some editors use fireworks but some use photoshop. Which do you personally like (or which may be easier for a semi-noob to start off with)? Or is there another program that you use?
Thanks again,

Here is how I change my homescreen icons if using LauncherPro:
While you could download another app to make custom icons for your homescreens, I figure, why not just use LauncherPro since we already have it installed. Here is a simple tutorial to make a shortcut to have an app open like regular but with a custom icon:
1. Determine the app's package and class names:
-Add a LauncherPro Activities shortcut to your homescreen. Find the app you want and expand it. The options you see are your class names. We will use the HTC Sense World Clock as an example. Usually the default page the app opens to will be the first option, so in this case...
Class name: com.htc.android.worldclock.WorldClockTabControl
The package name is usually derived from the class name, mainly by removing the last part of the name. So, in this case...
Package name: com.htc.android.worldclock
Sometimes you may have to remove the 2nd to last part of the name, if its something like "*.chompsms.activities". You don't need the activities section. Just back out of adding the shortcut now, we have all the info we need. Now we can make our shortcut.
2. Add a new LauncherPro Shortcut to your homescreen and use the built in editor. Simply fill in the Shortcut Label (whatever you want to name it), Package name, and Class name. Leave the Action field as is. Browse your SD card for a custom icon (I suggest surfing to http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/), save your.lps file, and you're done!
This probably won't work for all apps, but should work for most.

I think you misunderstood the question a bit. I was talking about creating or modifing icons in photoshop or fireworks. Not necessarily how to apply them to the phone.
Although I'm sure what you posted will help some people.
Thanks for the response though.

Oh ok, well in that case:
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/tutorials
Most will use Photoshop to make icons. A good size to stay at would be 128x128 IMO. Even though Android uses smaller resolution icons, it's better to downscale than to upscale. I would save as a .PNG to preserve your transparency.

Yes, it should be. You would use BetterCut or LauncherPro to edit the shortcut icons once you have them made.

But in this case the wetter widget don't make the degrees and localization visible.
So I can understand way some peoples are looking for a transparent background.

Dilong, nice work on all these. if you want to share any of your work over in the thread linked above, there is a really great collection of apps with transparent widgets. it'd be great to add these and any others you come up with. i've also struggled with changing text color when messing with other apps, but there are some other smart people active in that thread who might be able to help. cheers!

this isn't really the help you are looking for in changing the text color but you could take one of the already themed Gmail 4.2 apk that has everything inverted (including the widget text), and then just make the same mods to the widget list transparency without needing to change that text color. i linked to the version themed by travp624.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/p10u379b4z791kx/Gmail_v4.2-blk.apk
or if you want to just use that as something to compare against to see if you can find the XML change, that would work to. i will take a look and see if i notice any difference in yours and his.

Hi guys so I've searched for themes online which enable you to have round stock icons. I haven't found anything of good quality so I decided to give it a go and edit one of the built in themes on Honor Play. With luck not only was I able to change every icon to round (Photos Above, only on big Icons!) using only the stock icons but accidently managed to make a theme that adds another feature, which is to make any other icon which is not round into a round icon (almost) and makes your icons look so much better! I kept everything else stock I hope you like the theme! All the adaptive Icons for calendar and weather have also been changed while still fully fictional. The only icons I did not keep stock were the Music, Themes, and the Audio icon as I found better looking ones. The lock screen has no wallpaper set as I have left it on Magazine unlock to make it easy for those of you who like to use that feature. I do apologize if I have made any mistakes during this post this is quite literally my first ever post.
The link to the .hwt file is below. This theme will work on any Honor or Huawei phone but was initially created for Honor Play EMUI 9.
The instructions to install once downloaded are Copy File into Internal Storage > Huawei > Themes > and paste into this folder > Restart Phone > Open the themes app > Me > My Themes > You should see the theme for selection so like any other theme Apply and enjoy!
Big Icons> Set home layout to 5x6.

Yes I know! Read what I have said if you want adaptive round icons you need to use the big Icons. I showed you Microsoft app icons because they don't support round icons yet in my theme they are round. On small Icons theme only the main apps will be round! So download the big Icons you will see every single app in your drawer will be round including your apps mentioned above.
