Help with system volume screens on HTC diamond - General Questions and Answers

Anyone have any idea how I have managed this, or how to fix it?
When I press the volume buttons on my htc diamond I get 2 different volume adjusting screens AT THE SAME TIME!
The standard diamond one that has the 2 pages to adust system and phone volume...
and then a new one layed over the top, or which appears before the normal one
The new system volume screen shows both volume adjusters on the same page and is semi transparent- so I often end up seeing both volume adjuster pages at the same time- I dont know where its come from- or what I installed to create it.
Is there any way I can deactivate one without uninstalling all my software or hard resetting?
Ive tried switching it off with Diamond Tweak but it as no effect.
Recently installed Mobile Shell 3 and touch flow detacher, plus the new calcualtor and image viewer ported form htc diamond 2.

Change Backlight intensity with button press

I think the title tells you what I'm looking for. I'm trying to get rid off HTC Home since it uses too much space on the today screen. There is nothing in there that I really use that my other programs don't cover except the backlight.
I like the idea of simply pressing on the icon and the intensity changes. Up to now I haven't found any program that does that in this way for HTC devices. Even better would be a program that could be assigned to a hardware button since I have enough of them =D
Does anyone know a programm that cycles the backlight intensity by pressing a hardware button?

Hardware keyboard slide annoyance!

Hi guys,
I went from loving my Touch Pro to almost throwing it at a wall!
This keyboard slide-out issue is driving me nuts, whenever I want to type something using the hardware keyboard, I slide it out and the damn landscape TF3D menu gets displayed ON TOP of whatever page I'm on.
I've tried the disable landscape registry trick (HKCU\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila\landscape=false then soft reset) which works... but after a while (a few minutes or after some program or some random thing) it stops working and I have to either reset the phone or turn the reg key back to "true".
Is there any way at all to prevent the keyboard slide showing the landscape menu or at least prevent the menu from being on top of the current app?
For example I go to reply an SMS (I even tried waiting on the cursor to blink a few times, 2 - 3 secs) then slide out the keyboard to type and the stupid 8 icon menu goes on top of my message entry page, I have to choose 'messaging' app from the list of running apps to get back to that page, it really defeats the purpose of having a hardware keyboard!
Thanks guys for reading the rant.

What ROM are you currently using?
I had that issue too, I got rid of the theme I was using and stuck to the original HTC theme and I no longer have that problem!
I'm using Da_G's Clean ROM with his standard Manila install afterwards.
I've recently uninstalled the EzInput/T9 package from HTC and it seems to be behaving itself for now (it's been 2 hours with minimal use), like I said before it happens randomly. I don't know if it was because of the EzInput or something else because this seems to go away after every soft reset then comes back unexpectedly.
Thanks.

I had the issue using the RRE ROMs and ended up removing HTC Volume Control and it solved the problem completely.
Hrm I see to be having the issue again. How do I remove the HTC Volume Control?
I don't have any of this because I dumped the TF3D. Much happier and trouble/issue free without it. Euro device using stock rom.
OK I can confirm that it is the HTC Volume Controls that is causing this!
So from my previous post I tried to uninstall HTC EZinput which seemed to have fixed it but like I originally said the problem seems to happen out of nowhere after some time using the device.
So after reading the post above about HTC Volume Control, I pressed the vol down button, then this problem started happening again. I did a soft reset and no more problem after a while I pressed the vol button again and it happened again!

Check out the ROM in this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467592
This is the ROM I use and the cook has already removed HTC VOLUME CONTROL from the ROM.

but he link that you gave us is for HTC Diamond... not for HTC Raphael...
will the application works on HTC Raphael??
Problem solved!
I had this problem for ages (as long as I have my Raphael, I think), and I couldn't track it down on the internet. Some time ago I found a post on XDA describing the problem but I can't find it again. Finding this post made me think.
I installed the aforementioned "volume control from JMZ" (I had extremely hard time finding it) and I didn't like it because it did something strange with my system font but it solved the problem. After few unsuccessful tries to fix the font (btw does anyone know how to fix this?) I decided to uninstall it. And the problem didn't return.
So what was the problem? Well… when I bought the phone I wanted (as many of you did) to change those ugly taskbar icons including volume icons contained within HTCVolumeControl.dll. And I did it by finding the dll file with the prettiest icons here on XDA (and maybe I changed some of them using the described procedure, I really can't remember now). However, that dll is the main culprit for the bug described in this post. Was it already broken when I found it, or I somehow broke it it's irrelevant now.
So the solution is: you don't have to install anything. Just delete HTCVolumeControl.dll from Windows folder, i.e. rename it using for example Resco File Explorer and then soft reset the device so that original file from ROM can be restored. Yes, the ugly icons will return but at least now you'll now where to look if this bug reappears. After that go and some find pretty volume icons, and again follow the procedure how to change them.
I have no idea how the file got corrupted in the first place (maybe there is some corrupted dll roaming the xda forum ) but after this episode I make changes only directly on the original dll (the one from ROM) and every time it was successful. I changed many icons until I found my favorites.
Cheers!

Volume shortcut to be placed in prg shortcuts - WM6.5

Hi all,
I was using Set Volume 0.8.0 for some time, but I have experienced a few minor problems.
I flashed new rom few days ago, and I noticed that it already has a nice full screen interface for volume.
The only problem is - to activate it - one have to touch +/- volume hardware side butons.
I would like to remap them, and to place a shortcut to program shortcuts in order to invoke a volume interface screen.
Is it possible to do that?
I have found 2 small exe (WisVol.exe and Vol_WM6.exe) files here on forum, but they both invoke a smal baloon and not the full screen interface.
Thanks in advance and cheers,
Nenad
I'm having a similar issue. I just cooked a 28014 rom and included the HTC Mega Volume Control. It pops up when using the HW button, but if I click the volume icon at the top in that new large menu that pops up, nothing happens at all. How can I fix that?
Hi,
I have found this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397936
Can I link somehow a .DLL to a button to execute it?
I sound stupid even to myself asking this question, but it looks that I am the only one - beside phazei - who reads this subject - soo

Volume Overlay Issues with New Taskbars?

Iv been reading through some of the posts on the forum regarding volume overlays being affected by installing new taskbars as i am having the same problem. In core player, WMplayer etc whenever the usual green volume overlay would appear for volume i am instead getting a black vertical block on the left hand side of the screen, no volume indication at all.
I have installed the default HTC Leo volume control but this gets rid of the speaker icon in the Taskbar i have installed and its a very basic looking volume adjustment which also overrides the HD2's main volume control aswell, so uninstalled this.
Was wondering if there is any kind of update or a file in a cab that would remedy this issue?, its not the end of the world as the volume adjustment still works but theres just no indication. Although having an actual volume overlay looks much nicer than a black box =P.
If anyone could help would be much appreciated
Also forgot to mention I did try to install a cab from a post I read where somebody had included all files that was supposed to fix this issue but after install and soft reset it didnt change a thing. I have the gfreek G_Brains WM6.5 taskbar installed on my HD2 with Co0kie's Home Tab and the Chainfire HD2 3D Driver Patch... if this helps at all.
Same with me, on 1.66 standard ROM (UK).
I don't think this really is fixed on many of the taskbars.
I'm using the one attached below at the moment, has the old style black volume control though, and I would prefer the proper green slide one.
DJC seems to work OK too (do a search), and with the proper green slide volume control, but the voicemail icon isn't included and it's the standard white windows one amongst the nicer looking DJC graphics icons.
i was using the DJC one before but got this one becuase i was having some problems with a few of the icons not working. Posted this really to see if anyone had any idea of how to get this to work with ANY taskbar that was installed because i noticed quite a lot of people having same problems with numerous different taskbar installations. Like i said its not that big of a deal but would be nice to have the volume overlay that i had when i first got the phone (without having to uninstall my awesome new taskbar) =].
Thanx anyway

Taskbar customization and volume manager

I finally customized my mega the way I wanted it to be when I initially bought it. I'm also running a 6.5.5 rom. Unfortunately I still have some issues with it and I was wondering if someone knew anything about them. First of them is if it would be possible to remove the start soft key in the bottom left corner of the screen. That would be nice since the mega already has a hardware start key and the one on the screen becomes redundant. It would be nice if we would just have two soft keys in the bottom corners
Also, I looked for a solution for the ugly volume manager in these last builds but couldn't really find one. I tried other volume managers like setvolume but that one is buggy even with answering phone calls. I find that unacceptable because most of all, it's a phone. So maybe if we could restore the default one or use another one without so many bugs that would be great. I saw somewhere that a solution was already available but for vga phones. Maybe that could be ported to qvga
I am with you on this. Would love to see these fixes.
I need theses fixes too!!! WM 6.5.5 has bad interface...
Why does the volume control must be so fat and ugly??
The most important thing is volume control in the youtube app sucks!
I wish someone can fix the volume control to use back the original HTC one.
Erm ok, the problem is even when the default HTC Volume control is implemented in the ROM, for some reason WM 6.5.5 overwrites that. I tried a few times. I think that sucks cos I'm a student , and my phone needs to be on silent. But the new volume control can be activated on the lockscreen so I'm afraid it would turn silent off. Any suggestions for this?

There's a nice app called SetVolume that does the trick quite nicely. Also, there's a cab that can remove the start button. I lost the cab but there's a registry tweak that does the job. You can search for it.
