I recently got a new O2 XDA Ignito and i cant backup my contacts from the phone onto my computer using Windows Mobile Device Centre. It says it is syncing but just doesn't, i cant find the syncd contacts anywhere on my pc. I really need to sort this out because i want to flash my device.
Thanks
Don't bother syncing, search on here for PIMBackup and use that. You will be able to back up all your contacts, calendar, messaging, and then restore after you have flashed.

So i finally upgraded to WM6 and used the Perfect English package.
now since I'm not too sure how but I lost all my contacts, and they werent saved on my SIM. I was lucky that my contacts were saved on Outlook though, so I'm wondering how exactly I can copy these contacts (or sync) to my phone directly.
Manually adding 122 contacts would be a chore!
thanks
Just sync your phone via Active Sync, it would be synced back
You shouldnt use Perfect English, but this

i forgot to mention I'm using Vista,...so i have no active sync...I used VMware to update and the contacts are currently on Outlook 2007 on my host pc.
Vista got Windows Mobile Device Center thingy wad
right, but everytime it syncs, the contacts dont!...
So recently I formated my computer to Windows 7. And today I wanted to update my Rom on my tilt. So before doing so, I already had outlook installed, and I installed Mobile Device Center, and synced my phone. It said contacts were already being synced. So after it was done syncing, I updated my rom. After all is done, I went ahead and plugged it in, planned on syncing my contacts back on right?
Contacts, tasks, calender were all grayed out in Mobile Device center. And it said something about outlook not being configured. I opened up outlook... none of my contacts are in there...
So, I'm guessing my initial sync didn't go right, and I have lost all my contacts??

regardless of the device center settings did you have all the contacts in your outlook when you looked?
If so I would FIRST backup you're outlook pst, then in sync device settings delete your old device relationship and then connect your device. you should be prompted to setup a new relationship and be able to sync your contacts back.
If your Outlook seems to be missing the contacts and/or corrupted you could try to run the Outlook PST Scan / Repair utility on your Outlook PST and see if that helps.
FYI the PST file is the store file for all your Outlook email, contacts, calendar, etc.
Hope that helps!
I ran windows mobile device center a while ago and saved and synced all my contacts with outlook. I did it this way because unlike with ppc backup programs like pimbackup, it saves their facebook links so I wouldnt have to keep putting them back into my phone. But not I dont know how to send them all back to the phone, I can see them when going to go>contacts, but I cant see any option to resync to my phone or anything ?
Please help

not entirely sure but have you tried microsoft myphone? im using it to sync everything apart storage card.
I don't know about Facebook seeing as I've never used it but PIM backup can backup all of your contacts with any amount of phone numbers and addresses. You can backup and restore directly from your HD2 with PIM backup so it's probably the easiest solution.
Is your Pc runnning with windows... i thinks so because you said smthg. about outlook. If it´s so, an you have win7 or Vista then use Windows Mobile device center
You can select which contents you want to save wand wich not...
Sry for my english, I´m from austira
microsoft myphone does the backup of contacts and if you have them linked to facebook it keeps them when restoring
Google Contacts is working great for me

none of the ways said already will keep the links,
i find it annoying too, cause u have to "re link them to fb"
there is one way of doing it, which is to get the facebook app.
keep it on the SD card, that way when u reflash, it wont dissapear

make a windows live account and use microsft my phone. simple whenever you want to get your setting contacts messages photos videos back simply sync your phone using microsoft my phone and you will get everything back.
hard reset my hd2 yday and i lost all my contacts, did a sync with myphone and it downloaded all my contacts to my phone, i then syncd with the computer and outlook replaced those contacts with my old ones. i was wondering if there is a way to choose a download option in myphone, because now if i go to sync again to get my contacts back of myphone it will upload the old contacts and replace the myphone ones, then i will never be able to get them back, does anyone know how myphone works? does it just do a download the first time after a hard reset?
In activesync (or outlook) i know there is an option to sync the other way so outlook 'learns' the contacts from your phone.
As i now have my HD broken (just broke the LCD) i can't check for you
