Program to import sms to individual contacts in Outlook? - General Questions and Answers

I'm looking for a program that will add all SMS and call history from my phone to each individual contact in my contacts as well as in Outlook when I sync.
I had a similar program that did that on my Palm Treo and would like the same for my PPC. I don't remember the program so I can't do any research to see if it's made for Windows Mobile.
Any thoughts on other programs? All help is appreciated!
TIA

When I receive an SMS from a contact, I'd like a program that saved the SMS history to that particular contact within outlook when I sync. There is a note portion of any contact within outlook - the other program I had saved the call history and SMS history to the notes.

it would require both an addon for sync which would sync sms's to outlook in the first place
and second a addon which would add sms's listed under contacts in outlook
if it exist i doubt you would get it for free
if it dont exist then it's because of lack of market / demand
less and less people really depend that much on outlook
when contacts are in gmail or facebook or thunderbird or...

WM6 and Windows Live

Hi,
I've had a quick search and I can't find anything related to this problem of mine so here goes:
What's the deal with Windows Live and Outlook synchronisation? This seems to be a useless implementation and it's completely ruined the phone for me.
One of the reasons I have a Windows Mobile phone is so that I can manage all my contacts in Outlook 2007 at home and sync them with Outlook 2003 at work.
I keep my msn contacts seperate from these contacts, as I don't have MSN at work and I have lots of contacts on msn whose phone numbers I don't have.
Suddenly with this new version of Windows Live I have a choice of either not using messenger and keeping my contacts clean, or signing in and having it copy all my msn contacts into pocket Outlook so they appear when I load contacts on my phone.
It seems to be duplicating all my contact information (I had some contacts in MSN as I use hotmail at home) and there's no way to merge them. If I delete the contact with the msn logo, it disappears from messenger with no way to get it back (on the phone). If I delete the other one, it removes it from outlook.
Does anyone know of a way to merge the live contacts with outlook properly (i.e. not just by ticking that box in the options)?
The only way to get my contacts back to normal after Windows Live messes them up is to switch user in Windows Live and restore my contacts from my SPB Backup.
This is really frustrating me and I am shocked that Microsoft are still releasing such poor products to market
Mit
If you delete the msn contact and than get on the outlook contact, press menu press, "To Windows Live" and than take option "both", and use the email thats of you're contact msn account. now it will be merged.
Hope this helps

send tasks, contacts, appointments and notes by email

hello!
I need your help!
I use pocket breeze and pocket informant If this helps.
I want to send tasks, contacts, appointments and notes by email, since my love has a PPC and I want to share with him some data. Since he s not near me all day, I need to send him by mail. the beam solution is not the way!
In office 2007, laptop computer I can assign someone to do a task, foward an appoitment or contact.
Can I do it with Pocket Informant or with Pocket Breeze? Can I do it with something else?
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks
Deiota
maybe you can use PPC Pim Backup and then backup your contacts, tasks, appointments then send the backup file thru email. Then he can use the same application to restore it to his device.
Just a thought though
Thanks for your reply!
Anyway, that ain't a solution!!
I want to create tasks and apps and contacts, if needed and imediately send it to someone, my hubbie, for instance, so that people can add automatically in his PIM in his PPC.
Do you have any other solution????
Thanks
Deiota
not even sure normal pc outlook support that
the normal pc outlook does it!
assign tasks and invite to appointments etc...
all that!
great feature!
the PPC does it with beam BT, not with e-mail, I think! That's what I wanted to make sure of!
thanks!
Try sending the contact information via vPIM as a text message, but then select his email address.
Not sure about tasks, etc.

General contacts question

Ok here is a small question. I have added all of my old phone contacts to the phone contacts. But when I am using the Calender of my HTC Diamond ( which is basicly Outlook ) and set up a meeting, I am not able to add any contacts from the phone contacts. THe list of contacts it empty. So that means there is a phone contacts list and a outlook contact list.
Why? I mean shouldnt this all be handeled by windows mobile? Is there an easy way of getting the phone contacts to my outlook contacts? And will the outlook contacts work for calling somebody?
This just doesn't make any sense usability wise to me..
P.S.: Active sync only "sees" the outlook contacts , which are empty on my phone.
Hi,
please specify "phone contact". Are these one your SIM card? Because if not, they should be synced with your outlook contacts(in outlook, they should show in contacts now)
Otherwise you can just copy all sim contacts to your phone.
To answer your question, yes you can call outlook contacts with the phone, ofcourse after sync.

SMS in windows 6.5

I am looking for a way to stop SMS from syncing to my outlook.
I have windows 6.5 and my SMS end up in my inbox at work and I would like to just keep them on the phone and not sync.
Is there a reg key that can be changed to not put the SMS in the inbox or is there some sort of filter that can be set to not sync SMS with outlook.
Wait...SMSs sync to outlook? I'm using ActiveSync, and I dont see the option of syncing SMSs. Is this something in Windows Mobile Device Center (win 7)?
With Windows Mobile 6.5 it places the SMS in the Inbox so that when the phone syncs with Outlook it puts all the SMS messeges in the Outlook inbox. I use exchange mail for work but I don't want my personal text messages to end up in my work email box. From what I have read it has to do with Windows 6.5 using what Microsoft calls "unified inbox".
I want my SMS messages to stay on the phone and not end up in my work inbox.

How to "best" use Calendar(s) and Contacts

I have some questions regarding how to "best" use the calendar(s) and Contacts.
I want everything in one Calendar, so I've currently settled to showing only my Exchange (Outlook) calendar on my phone. I set up Google's Sync program on my work PC to update my Outlook calendar and Google Calendar, so I can read/edit it on my PC at home. After a number of missed meetings (and angry boss) I set this to a one-way push from Outlook to Google. No more missing entries. This means I cannot edit my calendar on my PC at home. How do I best view/use/edit a single calendar on my phone, Exchange, and my home PC?
Contacts are confusing to me. I don't fully understand how to think of them. I have ~500 contacts from Outlook, most of which were pushed to GMail. When I first started to use the phone and log in to Facebook, etc. I was prompted to "link" contact IDs. After linking a few hundred I though I was OK, but none of the newer contact pictures on my phone have been synced with Outlook. How do I sync this information? I PRESUME that linking really keeps multiple entries for a person with some fields from each source? What really happening when I "link" and how can I "merge" them instead? I'm most interested in "pushing" new/updated pictures to my outlook contacts.
Thanks in advance,

Time zones
In outlook, as well as on the phone's calendar application, you have the option to specify the time zone for the calendar entry. Simple and straight forward.

I'm confused. Why don't you just setup your exchange account on the phone and keep it separate from your gmail calendar? This way you don't have to sync outlook calendar with gmail calendar and you can still view/edit on phone. Yes you won't be able to view/edit from home pc but I'm not sure why would you want to do that?
The contacts are only linked, they are not merged (even though they show up as merged on the phone) so the pictures from Facebook for example won't be updated on your outlook. If you were to remove your Facebook account in your phone, you will lose all the pictures and other info that came from Facebook. It is built this way for privacy reasons so Google doesn't steal Facebook contact data and vice versa.

This software (called Fonebook) should allow you to update Outlook contacts with corresponding pictures from Facebook.

When I'm home I want to view my Calendar on the big screen of my PC. 14" is MUCH better than 3.7"
Sometimes I want to edit a Calendar entry when I'm home (e.g. add an entry with a long text note) which is a pain to do on the handset.
My N900 had an App to copy contact pictures from Facebook, etc. onto the handset's contacts, which were then sync'ed to Outlook. Is there an app with similar functionality for Android?
Thanks
Is there new software that will sync my Outlook calendar to Google Cal without me getting chewed out by my Boss for missing meetings?

Yes, outlook changes all of the entries according to changing time zones.
I want to enter my 9:30 return flight (when I'm booking, before travel) as 9:30. Outlook assumes I'll enter it as 6:30 since I'm in PDT and the airport is in EDT. I'm trying to use entries that are all local time. If I have connecting flights I need to pre-compute different offsets. Too easy to mess up and miss a flight.
I been trying different scenarios to see why your appointments are getting shifted but everything is working for me the way it should as long as I specify the time zone for the appointment and not accept the default time zone that Outlook or Google calendar suggests (they default to current time zone). Do you do that on your end or do you just enter start/end time for the appointment without along with the rest of the appointment details without changing the time zone?
