i believe you can make it full screen under menu
you could try manual screen rotation using hte long press end key or routing it to another button (ie ptt or talk depending on rom)

Hi all! I have an xdaiis & its running o2 1.40. I often listen to music whilst out however haven't found a way of listening to media player but not allowing the unit to function by an accidental tap of the screen or a button, and pressing power stops media player too. Is there a way of stopping this?
Thanks
Leo
You could use one of the many software tools available to lock your PDA until you unlock it via a specific combination of keypresses - I had one on my own XDA until I hard reset it - can't remember what it's called right now, but the icon is just a yellow padlock.
listening to music with your device off
Leo,
I accidently found the solution to your problem !!
Start the media player and then press the centre button of the navigation pad to black out the screen. The media player will continue playing songs without the device coming alive by accidental pressing of button or tapping on the screen. To bring it back, press the centre button of the navigation tab again.
Try and see if it works for you.

XDAIIs
The Action button (centre D-Pad) on my 2i switches between play and pause in my install of Windows Media Player 10, just for the record.
Turn display off
go to wmp settings or options and navigate to buttons.. assign a button for display toggle.. Tat solves u
Thanks for your help guys!
Unfortunately the screen toggle only works with the screen & my buttons are still activated which my krussel case always presses against.
Anyone know of a way of stopping the buttons too? It's crazy that it has been designed this way!
Thank you
Leo

Try DeltaLock. It's very small and simple, and does just what you're looking for.

Problem is solved! Thank you ramjet73, Carty, christopherwoods & phantom1261 for your help! Now i can easily listen to music without being charged because GPRS connects!

Hello, i have a touch dual and is it possible for me to turn off the screen while it plays music?? keeping the screen on seems like a waste of battery life.
thanks in advance
it depend on the player or if you have another screen toggle program
it all comes down to setting a key to handle sreen toggling
lol i tried looking in the button assignment part of windows media player and found it
thanks so much.... dint think of looking there
please tell us what you did...
can you please explain what you did, to turn off the screen while playing?
I have pocketplayer and it supports that.
But you can also use S2U2 to do it: Configure it to turn off the display after x seconds and while playing music just lock the device and put it into your pocket
Install CorePlayer.
Go to Menu\Options & tap Blank Screen.
In Start Menu u should also find a Shortcut named Display Switch.
Could also assigned to Hardwarebuttons.
I got the Tilt 2 yesterday and while I really enjoy it for the most part, there's one thing that's really getting on my nerves. I can't turn off the screen manually without stopping audio playback (whether WMP or Pandora or TCPMP). The Q&A on HTC's website illustrates it well--
Q. When I am listening to music via the built in Windows Media Player on my device and I press the Power button to put my device in hibernate mode, the playback stops. How can I continue to listen to my music without having my screen on?
A. If you manually press the Power Button once to put the device in hibernate mode, Windows Media Player music playback will stop. This is by design to allow you to quickly stop the playback. To continue listening to your music without leaving the screen on, let the device go into hibernate on its own; the music will continue to play.

I really hate this because I want to be able to turn off the screen whenever I want, and I can stop playback quickly enough by pushing the pause button. What's more, the screen does not automatically go into hibernate mode in Pandora anyway. It may not in TCPMP either, I don't know yet. Is there any way to go back to the WinMo 6.0/.1 way?
I already posted this on Brighthand, but the WinMo forums there are relatively dead, so I thought I'd post here.
I'd really appreciate any help; I don't want to waste massive amounts of battery power in Pandora.
Thanks,
Andrew
install the xdaShutdown app... there's an option there to turn the screen off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544016
It seems to have the same effect: stopping the audio when I hit "sleep."
Try changing the sleep to lights out it's under right key options some themes have this on screen anyway..
Also not sure if any of these ways will help:
Music not playing when turn off screen: For people who use normal device lock vjdevicelock.cab install to device will be a shortcut in system tools / For people who use S2U2 Toggle Screen.cab install to device will be shortcut in System Tools will sleep screen then S2U2 locks "Both of these tweaks will need to be reaplyied if you turn device back on via power button"
Taken from my Kaiser ROM thread.
Use Nitrogen Player and click on the Power Icon to turn off screen.
Or if you prefer to use another browser, just add it to the Exclusive Programs List under Settings > Task Manager > Exclusive.
I have long power mapped to turning off the display. Basically, I have a shortcut in \windows that points to a morscript that toggles the display. The link is called long_power.lnk. This is the script:
ToggleDisplay("Off")
Oh, I should have looked more carefully at xdaShutdown. The lights out option is the perfect solution! I mapped the program to the PPT button so I can do it more easily. Thanks everyone! I'm also going to look at Nitrogen anyway, that sounds interesting.
Playback While Screen Off.cab
I have this cab, im not sure who made it but it works on my sprint tp2 great. I simply install the cab. and after that whenever i play music in any app... WMP to Slacker Radio... press the power button and music doesn't stop.
Greetings.
I want to share what i discovered with this subject and help people to finally use their HD2 as it was suppose to be from the beginning. You are probable all very annoyed by the fact that it is not possible to adjust volume in any video player using volume keys and not to break video playback, especially in full screen mode.
Well, that's history. I found that VolumeX ( http://volumex.jdbp.mobi/default.htm ) can do just that. You can adjust volume in any video player with volume keys without pause/stop/break video playback even in full screen mode...
To activate this ability you have to, of course, install VolumeX and after that you have to alter one registry entry.
Go to HKLM\Software\JDB Pocketware\Volumex\EXCEPS
and there you can add app that would be able to use this ability of VolumeX (you must add class name of the application, it can be found with dotfred's TaskManager on window tab; http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm).
Here is what i add in exception list:
1|HTCYOUTUBE;1|FMRadioMain;1|WMP for Mobile Devices;1|MunichWinClass;1|PlayerFullScreenWindowClass;1|AudioBoosterClass;1|wCorePlayer;1|PocketMusic;1|MYFSPLAYER;1|FspVideoDispWnd
Thankx JDB for this app...
I'm trying volumex, and your tip seems to work great. I actually don't understand why this is not standard (and the whole of Volumex idea)...
Thanks.
Working well, but now I can't get the "volume screen" when I press volume buttons even outside the exception programs. Any idea?
Here are my exceptions:
1|wCorePlayer;1;1|PocketPlayer;1|PocketMusic;1|HTCYOUTUBE;1|FMRadioMain;1|WMP for Mobile Devices;1|MunichWinClass;1|PlayerFullScreenWindowClass;1|AudioBoosterClass;1|FspVideoDispWnd
Thanks
BTW, I'm using and HD2 with Miri's 6.5.x v16 ROM
Solved by JDB, thanks.
I found it very unconvinient to stop MP3 player (if someone is talking to you, or you want to listen for some message at the station). Especially I it is not show the Player screen after unlock.
Is there a way to use one of the HARDWARE keys to stop/start playing?
In that way I miss my SonyE mobile ...
I know there should be a way to reassign hardware keys to play/pause somehow, but I don't know the specifics.
Generally, if you lock while the media player tab or the media player itself is open and visible, it should be visible right after unlock.
Another option you could try is S2U2 with S2P
S2U2 is an unlocking program and S2P is a media player
S2U2 can display the media controls of S2P on the unlocking screen itself, saving you of a mere couple of presses. However S2U2 is extremely ugly without a proper skin so you might want to look into those.

I SO get that.
I want to be able to press a button and stop playback, while leaving the phone in my pocket. Its allways a hassle to pull it out, unlock it, press the appropriate touch-button and than be able to listen to the guy who just said something to you!
this is the second threat today where I just want my old Herm300 back.. loads of hardware buttons, all mapable, everything just "working"... and a hardware keyboard lol oh how I miss THAT.
